      I absolutely agree with you. What if one sibling was a protector to other sibling(s) in a home where abuse was going on? It's so cruel to do so to kids especially when they're little. It breaks my heart.

    I feel that at the end of the last seasons, the same show tried to "humanize" Frank by making him funnier and less cruel, like in the first 4 seasons.

But man this man went above and beyond to torment his kids when he could’ve and should’ve just honestly walked away entirely.

    What concerns me is that when complaints to social services in the USA are investigated it's determined that 97% of the cases were not only unfounded but were made because the child involved was disabled or not white. As the mother of two "disabled" children of Indian descent I just want to point this fact out. The disturbing part about this fact is that it's being used as a justification for cutting social services funding across the nation, which makes me wonder what all of these racist persecutory people are going to do once we don't have a social safety valve for them to vent their inhumane tendencies.
    By the way, my attitude toward social workers is that I will never relinquish custody or control over any of my children to anyone who will not commit in writing to taking care of them at least as well as I do. Given my children's medical conditions, that's usually all the motivation the social worker needs to present the findings of their investigation honestly.

    • @bell5338
      @bell5338 Месяц назад

      This is why I'm going into the field. Because there are a lot of families that do need to have their children protected from their parents, but the white families end up killing their children first because cps is too busy rounding up all these anonymous calls in bad neighborhoods, and just believing whatever they hear from the lightest skin person. So many hurt and killed children when I was growing up.
      It's so necessary, but as it functions now, we might as well barely have one at all. There is still good that comes from it, but I think it's an outlier of the people that want to help instead of getting a government paystub.
      I'm sorry you have to live in fear, and I'm sure your babies are loved and cared for by someone with this much protection. The stigma of darker skinned people being more abusive needs to end. It'll be worth infiltrating these jerks to help a few kids and parents. The bad eggs are really taking over here, too.

    • @AJJesko
      @AJJesko Месяц назад

      Asian kids also almost never get reported, even if there's clear signs of abusive. Cause they're the "model minority". Stereotypically they are strict, but good parents. Other minorities are stereotypically terrible parents, thus, if there are two kids with the same signs of abuse, white kids are reported rarely, Asians almost never and other minorities a lot.

      I HAVE NO IDEA. My best guess is that it’s for the plot, because no real kids would ever want a drunk, issue-causing mess like Frank in their lives. Why do they keep covering for him?! I only watched a couple of episodes, but straight away from season one I couldn’t understand why Fiona was mad when Steve tossed him off in Canada.

    • @j.ronnygibson
      @j.ronnygibson 2 месяца назад +21

      I have two theories
      1. Out universe reason- its oart of the show hate Frank, but he needs to be around for the plot
      2. In universe reason- as long as Frank was around in the first couple seasons, the law recognized that one parent is still home. If It was only Fiona there and since she isn't their mom, the law sees it as unstable and will put them in different homes, which none of them wanted. So as much as they hated Frank, him being there was their best option.
      Also, the Gallaghers are too used to a wild, semi-structured home. Doubt any of them can just go and live with a normal family. It's too strict for them.

    America does a lot of adopting even when the parents are still around.
    That feels really weird, even if the biological parents suck.
    Not really an option in my country (germany). Our system has issues too, theres pretty much no adoption, definitely no adoptions if the parents are around. Its all long term foster. Which has its advantages and disadvantages. Kids get to keep their identity and if possible have a relationship with their biological parents. Thats great.
    But the kids are also in limbo till they turn 18. Theyll never get to truly feel safe, because on paper reunification is always the goal, even after 17 years in the same foster family.
    And theyre on display till they turn 18. Foster families cant do a lot of stuff without permission. And their social workers come by regularly (theyre supposed to anyway, doesnt always happen)
    I think we need a mix of both systems. Allow fosterparents in long term foster placements to make more decisions for the child. Vacations, hairstyles etc. Maybe even a move.
    But still allow the kids to have a relationship with their biological family. (If it doesnt hurt them)
    And also make the long term foster placement as permanent as you can after a couple years, just to give the kid some stability, to legally show the kid that they wont be ripped out of their family. They rarely if ever do that in practice anyway, may as well make it an official rule.
    So in total, create some hybrid thats somewhere between longterm foster and adoption. That would be the better system in my opinion.
    Cause as long as its not adoption, the kid can keep contact with sinblings and parents. After that, legally they have no more relation.
