Hi guys! In this format, I'm going to review the soundtracks (OSTs) of different video games, starting with the very first Tekken game from 1994 for Playstation 1 (and Arcades). Whether the music is good or not is subjective after all, so I hope you enjoy my take on this 90s classic. I'll be releasing more of these in the very near future, so subscribe and stay tuned!

The Kyoto song from Tekken 1 was one of my favorite songs in Tekken 2...but there it was ganryus theme song 😂

Man, hope to see you cover Tekken 4 at some point. I actually started with the original Tekken, we had it at a local movie theater and I loved Yoshimitsu (mostly because I was like 6, I thought the sword was cool, and I could just spam his spin kicks to beat most of the AI). But Tekken 4 was the first one I actually owned and got to really play, so the nostalgia is real. Recently listened to some of the tracks and I think some still hold up well, but I'm curious to see what others think and if that's just the rose tinted... uh... headphones? lol

I also want to cover other games' OSTs, probably some PS1 classics, you have any suggestions aside the Tekken games?

Great begining soundtrack. Set the foundation for all Tekken to come. I miss the ambient world music of Tekken 1 and 2

@@Victorcolongarcia Exactly, while the games afterwards are better playing games, obviously. They lost the elegant dark atmosphere that Tekken 1 and 2 had.
@@aegisreflector1239 yes, 3 was perfection but the music was more like Matrix 1 and some rock elements. I like it a bit too, but for me King George Island, the scary song in Acropolis or canyon, Michelle’s theme in 2, the intro to tekken 2 and 1 are perfection and make you feel ON EDGE 🤣 much more suitable for a fighting game.
Nice review! although I really love Kyoto and Chicago due to their epic melodies which sound very 90s. My favorite OST for a fighting game however remains Battle Arena Toshinden 2.

I have a lot of the PS1 classics in mind, such as Crash, Rayman and definitely Spyro too. I'm not sure about the order yet, but I will try to alternate between franchices to keep things interesting!

Thank you! At the end of the day it‘s just a matter of whether we like the music or not, everything else is just fancy vocabulary to express our opinions :)
kyoto and szechwan are my favourites so im surprised to hear you didnt like them
They're iconic and so is Marine Stadium (console version) unlike the dubstep-heavy trash dominating the series over the years which has ZERO identity anymore. Many stages in the series up to Tekken 8 for OST are soulless imo, everything blurs together. This channel is giving his opinion from a musician's perspective, I guess and not as a gamer. I disagree with some selections that he said are not this or that but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Kyoto's intro alone hypes a fight with an opponet, he's wild for that take!

@@dinosulic101 I love the Console Version Themes of Jun, Nina, Michelle, Yoshimitsu, Heihachi, Lei, Kazuya and Devil. I also like the fact that they put the Tekken 1 OST into Tekken 2 because I have a soft spot for the Console Version of King George Island! 😃

Eijis theme on the very 1st battle area toshinden is so 90s but i love it til this day

I mostly liked "Night in Chicago" as to me, it gives a sense of adventure when Traveling.

Tekken 1 & 2s ost are so memorable and so catchy. The Fiji theme is by far the best tho 😮💨
That Chicago remix is in the Arcade version. It's in the playable version of T1 in Tekken 5 'Arcade History' . Great vid!

Strange, I've played that version of T1 several times but never heard it, how do you access it? (It wasn't in the 'gamerip' on KH Insider either)

Ooh, love this concept and subscribed! Tekken 1-3 were a big part of my childhood and i've followed the tournament scene for the others over the years as i was a longtime competitive player myself. Kyoto, Angkor Wat, and especially Sichuan were rather spicy takes on your part - Sichuan in particular seems to be up there with Fiji/Chicago/Windermere as a favorite among the fanbase. i feel ya on it seeming a bit too on the nose with the ~oriental~ theme, though!
Personally i have a bit of a soft spot for Venezia since i like my music to be a disjointed mess lol, but the attempts at "classical" elements were probably why that was the only stage track that got left out of Tekken 2. And i second your appreciation of Monument Valley, a theme that i see some other fans dock for being more of a vibe than a song. One last note: the arcade version of Angkor Wat (or i guess just Rave New World lol) is worth a listen if only because it has what sounds like a trap beat in 1994!

Yeah I have to say I‘m not that harsh usually with tracks that want to sound classical if it‘s not too cliche, but for some reason Venezia just didn‘t click with me. Monument Valley is just soo nice imo, had to compliment it a lot!
Tekken deserves Grammy awards for some of their OSTs. Especially since Tekken 3, they've been going crazy since. Tekken Tag Tournament 1 is the G.O.A.T soundtrack tho, can't wait for that one.
Chicago contains a sample of a Prince song (Loose), so of course it sounds Funky.
King George Island contains a sample from a from Wiz -Emerald City

Tekken has my favorite OST for a whole game series, 7’s is my least favorite and I still really like a good chunk of it!!

Night in Chicago is just from the arrange album.
I actually enjoy the soundtracks of Tekken 1. Nostalgic reason as well for Tekken 2. These beats grew with me. Oddly enough, it's Tekken 3 and on where I didnt care the soundtrack and I'll only pick like a very very few tracks that I enjoyed. Pretty bummed out.

Yeah, I‘m currently working on the Tekken 2 OST review, it takes a while since there are more tracks to cover, and more praises to give ;)
Tekken 3 is also coming at some time, but I‘ll probably cover a different game between 2 and 3.

I did play the 1st tekken at a local hamburger stand in early 1995. Wasn't a big fan tbh I thought at the time it was plagiarizing virtual fighter. Then my uncle had tekken 2 for ps1 & I loved it, used to play it with my grandma. I 1st played tekken 3 at Six Flags Magic mountain (a local theme park in los angeles) than again at the Treasure Island resort in Las Vegas & it was better than Tekken 2. Tag Tournament & Tekken 5 are really good to & Tekkek 4 is decent but nothing special, never played 6 TT2 & 7 so I can't give my opinion

@@dinosulic101 Yesssss. I always thought Tekken 2 osts weren't that great except for about 2 to 4 songs in there without the Tekken 1 osts.

I'm glad they redesigned P. Jack. He looks awful in this game with all those construction parts.
I also started my Tekken experience with T2 and T3. My uncle had this demo disc for his PS1 and it had a T2 demo with Lei and Jun being playable. Then I ended up buying T2 when my uncle gave me his console. A year later I got T3 for my birthday.
