The game that defined generation, timeless soundtrack, introduced new generation of iconic characters, incredible graphics for its time, huge variety of game modes for a fighting game, cool and aggressive 90s aesthetic, sold the most copies in the franchise and was surpassed only 20+ years later. Top 5 greatest video games of all time👏
T3's main competition (at time of release) was VF3, and up til that point, Tekken was winning in the graphics & gameplay department (T1 VS VF1, T2 VS VF2), and then Tekken lost (graphics wise) when T3 came out after VF3 and T3 didn't look nearly as good. VF3 came out first circa 1996-1997 and wowed fighting game fans. Then T3 came out later the same year, and though arcade goers weren't impressed much by the graphics, Tekken 3 stomped VF3's butt in overall gameplay! Quickly, Vf3 fans started playing T3 like crazy, and all the VF3 cabinets lost a lot of business from arcade goers. This is the point where Tekken realized all they had to do was release T4 with smoother graphics with same gameplay, and they'd leave the VF franchise in the dust, which more or less happened from T4 VS VF4 onward. Tekken 1 was my first love in the Tekken franchise (Mountasia Arcade in north Houston, TX), and really from that point, nothing from VF ever caught my attention until Vf3 came out, which again got overshadowed by T3 releasing the same year with much better gameplay.
@@pablot-r9402 Tekken 4's gameplay is nothing like Tekken 3 and I think it's one of the only reasons it failed, and apparently the more mainstream audience also disliked Tekken 4's story.
They won't do Tekken 3 due to the licensing issue with Gon since he's not an original Tekken character. Gon is a special guest for Tekken 3 and sadly a company got the rights for Gon. I don't know why they haven't ported Tag 1 yet or Tekken 4 which is crazy!
The soundtrack of T3 is worth the price of admission. My cousin and i traveled 3 hours to play this at an arcade in the 90s when it was new. We printed out a movelist and brought it to the arcade!
My man bared his whole soul out here. "Everytime you guys see me wavedash forward? That's a missed giant swing input." Imagine Claudio missing the input on a giant swing and he just eats a whiff punish bro.
God, I got this game back when I was 4 on my PS1. Amazing soundtrack, great stages, one of the best intros of all time, and brought in the next generation of iconic Tekken characters.
So weird I didn't just ask my dad to buy me a copy instead I rented it various times. Oddly we didn't have a memory card either. Had games like MvC, soul blade and thps just to name what I remember.
The black and white Skechers D'Lite are pretty close to King's trainers, and they're probably one of the best designs and are very comfortable. I'm not being paid to say this just a recommendation lmao
in 99 i was 5 years, and i was visting the ghetto in Bosnia, my mom let me go with the kids from the block to a gaming café, and i was playing tekken 3 all day with the kids, ill never forget
I dropped out of college while this game was in the arcade and still the current Tekken game. I learned on Jin but got into Heihachi. The attendant that showed me the ropes was a Lei and Yoshimitsu player, but had learned them all. The trick in arcade mode is to start simple and limited and when the CPU begins to counter, switch to a different set of basic lead-in attacks and combos. You make it to Heihachi in time to start getting technical and then crush Ogre with mid-tier power. If you go pro at the early stages the later game becomes input reading by the CPU and flawless parrying. I still listen to the soundtrack fairly often. It's great driving music. TTT the first also has a superior soundtrack.
I fell in love with the franchise when I saw tekken 2 in the arcades , but once I was able to put My hands on tekken 3, it was madness... Been a fan since then
One of my favorite games of all time When I was a kid, we would go to someone else's house to play this and Crash but his sister broke it so I had burrow my uncle's Tekken 2. Anytime I would see it in the arcade, I would jump on it anytime.
Looking at this i remember why i felt in love with Tekken and when i look at new Tekken 8 trailers all i see is sparks and flashes everywhere,i'll buy it but i'm not sure i'll still love it
This was GOLD! You have perfect combo of outraged and understated. You don't "RUclipsr Scream" once, but I feel the hurt. Lol. I LOVED this game when it came out, and played the s*** out of it in the arcade and still do to this day on PS3. I always find it funny to see "modern" fighting game players talk about strats and "balancing" in these older games. NONE of that was available across the board so we just had to figure most of this stuff out, and lose... A LOT! Words could not express just how VAST the jump was between this and Tekken 2! It was a whole new ball game! Thank you so much for posting this! I was an absolute blast. I'm glad I stumbled here and I can't wait to check out the rest of the channel. Thanks again.
You younger guys have to understand how mind blowing this game was when it came to consoles in early 1998. We couldn’t believe that a 3D arcade game as intricate as this could be played on our PlayStations. Wildest thing is that for many reasons it’s VASTLY superior to the arcade version. We played this game like crazy that entire year. Hundreds and hundreds of hours. Come to think of it 1998 was an insane year for gaming overall. So many of the best games of all time were released that year
I still play this to this day. The soundtrack, especially at Jin’s dojo is elite. A top 3 game of all time for me, and the first game i ever played. GOATED
Oh hands down the best. I remember I was a kid and played this for the first time, my uncle said I had this “wow” look on my face, I’ll never forget this game.
When I was a little kid I always thought: I want King's clothes, they looks so comfortable (the sporty costume). Also, I remember beating Tekken Force with Yoshimitsu because he could heal himself. Ahhh, those mornings playing Tekken Ball were also a thing of Paradise.
Tekken 3 is the one that hits the hardest for me because I was addicted to the demo when My sister bought the PlayStation and the demo disc that had like 8 demos came with it. What makes everyone else see this as the goat? I'm curious
I remember this being the only game I had with my ps1. My neighbor and I used to play it so much that we got into actual fights 😂. This game has so many memories for me, specially 100% the game and seeing the wacky things this game had.
Tekken 3 takes my 30 year old ass into a nostalgia trip back when I was playing this shit in arcades. Good, simpler times, when I was the best Hwoarang player in the entire city.
I have never once played any tekken games. I just like watching TAS playthroughs (even though there's only 2 channels that do this). This channel puts those channels to shame. Great stuff

PERFECT
It's a crime we haven't gotten at least 3,4 or tag 1 ported to PS5. It's just Tekken 2 and while nostalgic, it's just not enough 😭
I only got basic subscription because they need the other tekkens.

@Snappishbench12 they still look cool somehow, almost like legos.. and animation is buttery smooth.
Your Tekken commentaries are hilarious. They always get me after a long day at work. Much love and respect.

Still the best tekken game sadly
I couldnt have asked for a better tekken 3 video. paying respect to King's fit alone makes this a classic
"His percs must've kicked in" had me chuckle
I like how 3 EMPHASIZED the 3d with the zoom ins and camera angles
"Bro got that T8 trailer and didn't kno how to act" 🤣
I remember the day I played it for the first time, I had to grind out to get all of the arcade unlockable characters! Classic

the only tekkie series that had the soul in it. the way they moved. the sound effects was soul touching art

There is a King move where he delivers a fatal and devastating kick to the chest of the opponent. It is so incredibly effective as well.
