I don't know why, but what I love of the track Vengeance is the same vibe I feel while listening to Technoir (of Hotline Miami 2).
What a great video, and can't wait to listen to the full analysis of Hotline Miami 2 ost

Technoir is easily my favorite from the the 2 games, it just goes so hard and has such a great vibe I can’t get over it.

Maaan, I hope we get an episode for the second game, the music of HM2 goes SO fucking hard! Great video, Hotline Miami as a series isn't discussed enough, and its music is often taken for granted despite having one of the best consistently good OSTs in gaming!

Thank you, I put some extra time into finishing this, hence no outro and no stream last weekend. I might stream less regularly in the next weeks, I really want to get the Termina video out before 2024 lmao

Love the video! I really like how you broke down what you liked about each song. Hotline Miami introduced me to a lot of artists that I now listen to on a daily basis and really got me into the Retro wave genre. I would love to hear what you think about HM2's soundtrack. :)

Thank you so much! Yeah, I didn't know any of the artists beforehand, I was glad to find quite a lot of really cool songs :)
HM2 is coming for sure, let's see how the soundtrack compares to the first one!

I always interpreted Crush as more of a “oh my God what did I just do?” moment of horror rather than something relieving. Though I’d say the level clear music from the second game fits that even more.

  • @averageloreenthusiast5886
    @averageloreenthusiast5886 5 месяцев назад

I was surprised to hear your take on Crush. I’ve always felt that it was more like an awful moment of realization. You come down from the high of intense, fast-paced action and loud music to suddenly….
Nothing. Nothing but this miserable drone permeating through the area as you realize everything you just did. You killed so many people. Why? Because a phone call told you to do so?
Did you like it? Was it worth it?
While I wasn’t going to comment on it, I realized what Daisuke reminds me of in terms of atmosphere; Lost Haven/Shillings from Fear & Hunger Termina. It’s this sense of normalcy that you want to stay in, away from all the violence.
Hydrogen is one of my favorites, a track that’s the first to come in mind when I think of this game. It’s hypnotic and blends in well to the game’s atmosphere + gameplay, lulling you into a trance as you kill your way through a building. And it’s tense, because you just know as easily you can end them, they can do the same to you.
I really like Deep Cover. It’s a hard track to listen to at times for the reason you say, but that’s why I love it so much. It almost feels like I’m in a dissociative state- the world all around me is so loud and strange, yet simultaneously distant. I think that’s what Jacket feels too. Sure, things start to normalize once GF is around, yet the acts he commits in the game still looms over him. He’s out of it, subconsciously waiting for the phone to ring and clear up the fog by forcing a gun in his hands.
I am beyond excited to hear your takes on the HLM2 OST! I have issues with the gameplay (especially on PlayStation), but the story is amazing and the OST only serves to highlight it. Seriously, I can’t wait to hear you analyze Sexualizer, Le Perv and Fahkeet (amongst several others, but those especially).
I would also recommend checking out the game RUINER as well; similar to HLM but different, also has an amazing OST that is more dark and oppressive compared to this one. I would like to say that there’s more flashing lights in this game I’m pretty sure, so keep that in mind.

It is quite hard for me to get into these soundtracks that i have no nostalgia to, havent heard before or havent played the game to associate them with anything.

@@dinosulic101 I do get a feeling from these tracks, that lots of DJs have made remixes of these tracks. I think i have heard some of these in like a club as remix versions.

Funny how music tastes work, besides a few game franchises that I got really attached to before, I actually don't think highly of music from games that I played long ago, but the newer experiences tend to stick more and make me develop a love for music and genres that I don't think I'd have loved before.
