Then we need to go back to the foundations of who you are and your music, and who your audience is. Hey Damo! Always love your vids! So. Much. Value. I do have a question, though. I hear a lot of talk (from yourself and other music marketing advisors) about including questions to get people to respond. Is it better to put the question at the beginning (where they're more likely to see it) or end (where there's a lot more context available) of an instagram post?
DK, Could you talk about whether to delay the Spotify release date on a song till the time you're ready to get people to 'jump together' (Spotify seems to be the relevant release date in the traditional sense), while before then using less time-sensitive platforms like YT, Bandcamp, FB, Insta... to get the interest and awareness going, so as to spike the algo during the crucial first 24 hours on spotty.....The Spotify release date does seem to be the date whereafter the air seems to be in danger of exiting the baloon, once activated and gone.....Or is it still ok to trigger the algo any time after release, I wouldn't think that's as good
Really great information...the party concept is simple yet a great way to organize everything once broken down. I was recently looking at alternative outlets for music but after watching this I came to complete realization it's impossible to bypass the music streaming industry.
"How To Get 1 Million Streams On Spotify In 1 Month" i have an answer for you. be lucky. thats it. thats what spotify is about. ive been using spotify for 1+ year and none of my songs that i worked super hard on them even hit 50 streams...
Most of my songs on Spotify got the same numbers, but i got lucky and they put one of my songs in 2 Spotify playlists and i got 15k streams and hit 10k monthly listeners , just keep trying bro
I think using paid ads is important, if you haven't tried that. you can't just put it on Spotify, it almost certainly won't be heard by many. I'm not sure I agree you can't just push ppl straight to spotify, as I have seen other channels that say that works for them. I do think Damian's strategy is a good one though, just sounds like need to be very active with your IG posts, then use paid ads to build interest, use more promotion on IG and Fb prior to, during, and after single release, then use paid ads to try and get folks over to spotify. It's a long process, many steps. Even setting up ads to run on FB takes a fair bit of figuring out if you ahvent' done that before. Good luck to you and everyone else!
Hey Damian! Long time listener, first time caller ;) Randomly want to ask you...what do you think about giving an album away vs charging for it!? (i'm going to direct everyone to bandcamp and don't have a big fanbase). Do you have any videos/thoughts on the "psychology of value" and if it's better to CHARGE just to make people feel like it's something of value? Or if it's better to offer it for free? I'm thinking of making the free offer something I advertise in IG, saying "Guys, I know you can get this free on spotify and would rather you have it IN your phone, so please download it, at no cost, just so I know you have it in your phone and will hear the proper sound quality etc!" (sounds silly but i think it might help me get true fans who stick with the album AND give me their email) THANK YOU happy new year!
Hey Tommy, thanks for stopping by, the issue hear for me is peoples expectation and consumption. Some people care about sound quality but very few and most care about ease and having the music in one place eg music is in Spotify however some people still love cds and will pay however when it comes to promotion we need to be able to build the audience in some way so you would defo need to have enough music out there to use to build in order to then sell more. If you are gigging touring a lot and trying to build up through traditional means you can defo sell music it’s just a lot tougher these days as people do want to buy. Personally I don’t buy into music being more valuable if I’m forced to pay, the same way as I wouldn’t listen to music via Instagram feed as it would be a nightmare in my car or walking a long the road to fix that
@@DamianKeyes dude, not only was that reply immediate but it was complete and thorough! very grateful for your time and wisdom, but also for your kindness. i will just make the download free! with hat included for those who pay! haha, thanx again! i'm sure u are listening to tons of music but let me know how i can send u a link, if you want! I've always been interested in the party analogy... and maybe I am misunderstanding it, but you say you don't like Push Media because they don't know who you are. Like what exactly do you want me to do? Tell them the bio of my life and THEN share my music with them? I mean maybe I am dated... but when I listen to artists and I follow artists on Social Media AFTER I have generally discover them through a music streaming platform because the only thing that does interest me about them is their music. Yeah sure they can share personal stuff or political stuff but that isn't how I discovered them. Is that how you are explaining it exactly? For someone who is just a one-man band EDM Producer it seems a bit difficult to do this, but maybe as a group a little different.

Love your videos thank you 😊😊
Social media is dying all around the world. This doesn't work in the real world.
How do I hype up solo piano no vocals? It's like so..... Boring

This may hurt but it's for your own good. BURN THAT SHIRT!
Great video!

I have tried this way, but i prefer to use a better music stream bot to increase unlimited streams on spotify, have it on my pro.
This is quality
I love these videos! The Professor Jefferson Band appreciates them very much! (Now on Spotify ;) wink wink)
Thanks Jeff, I’m on it right now, lots of fun here, reminds me of Bare Naked Ladies who I LOVE!
For someone who is just a one-man band EDM Producer it seems a bit difficult to do this, but maybe as a group a little different.
this is all well and good but you've printed 200,000 tickets to this party, yet the printer only delivered 136.
maybe your party wasn't that well organizes and you only sold 136 :(
@@youngselfofficial893 I’m guessing this went over your head
@@LegPuppy I think you missed the point
