I've submitted countless pitches over the years. I view it as buying a lottery ticket, since the chances of a pitch being read and a song being listened to are extremely low. Most of my streams come through Spotify Radio, Release Radar, Mixes, Discovery Mode, etc., so while it would be nice to get on an Editorial, Radio is where it is at.
@@filipmokrogulski great question. Once enough people listen to your music it starts to get circulated more and more. I don’t know the specific stream or listener numbers, but behind the scenes there is a Popularity Score that comes into play. You can find your overall artist score and song level score by going to sites such as MusicStax. The magic score threshold seems to be around 20, at which point you’ll see more algorithmic push
Yessir. Great timing as always. Just submitted another Spotify pitch, following some of the tips I've collected from you. Fingers crossed. Haven't hit yet, but building some data, for sure. Thanks, DK. VP
Have been pitching for years - nothing, despite following all the hints and tips from music marketing "experts". Anyway, we had one track that got on an Editorial Playlist and it got 330,000 streams before the playlist was deleted. However, we didn't actually pitch that track. They just found it. In the meantime, most of our streams are now Radio and other algorithmic plays.
Pitched over 100 great sounding tunes, some of which have had radio play, never had a sniff from Spotify playlists. It's less than a lottery ticket. I sincerely doubt they even listen to you.
That was actually super helpful not just for understanding Spotify better from a strategic pov, with some really interesting tidbits I hadn't heard before, but also for understanding Instagram in a new way, which I had not thought of. Thanks for that surprise extra chicken nugget!
I'm getting ready to schedule a release this evening, so this advice was timed perfectly for me. Hopefully I can use this information to finally get on a playlist!
One of the first songs I wrote and have been playing live for years is called ‘You’. Luckily it’s unreleased so will probably revise that title or just make sure I’ve got grade A artwork 😂 fab vid as always taking notes as I’m working on pitching to playlists for the first time 🙏
Hi Damian, I have been releasing 1 single every month in 2024 I have been building hype before & after each release. What's your opinion about releasing a song every month? Might it be a bit too much? Thank you for always giving great advice.
I finally found the pitch to playlists button 3 minutes before my last single released 😂 This is what I submitted: "Frankenstein" is a Halloween story song about Connie the monster's quest to become spookier at any cost. It's a playful, cheeky satire about the plastic surgery industry. It's clean so it's suitable for all ages. 🧟♀🎃👻
Hey ! Thanks for the video and the good advices. I would like to know if it’s a good idea to release my first single in December ? Coz it’s not a race, right and I have others songs to drop on 2025. So I thought maaaybe it’s a good idea to start in December
i’ve credits with.. well let’s just say one of the biggest singers on the planet - and several other top 500 artists. but because i’m independent, i don’t get picked for playlists. luckily my radio does alright
Ive heard the one month release date before... my important release so should be postpone to december... is it better to cut the wait or set a january release date, being december, december!
Question - the previous (let’s say 20) songs I’ve released were not Officially mixed and mastered and I’m 95% sure that’s why I haven’t made it onto playlisting. Should I delete the unmastered songs to boost my score ?
All my songs mix & masters are butt cheeks (as I myself do it) and they all have gotten into ALL of Spotify's algorithmic playlists. Checkout the video "We Cracked The Spotify Algorithm" by Andrew Southworth.

Definitely radio.. i’ve seen anywhere from like 25 to maybe a few hundred streams come from that alone

Damian, my man. Your MBA is great … and these topical, timely updates only bolster the magnificence ✊🏽
Just starting out, never used Spotify until 2 days ago. Thanks for the work you put into this, gave me some ideas….2025 is gonna be lit! 🤘🤘

Holy mackerel, 330k streams is not shabby at all!
Hey, I didn't notice that the playlist got deleted. Sorry to hear that. The song was Paladin, right?

I Always write: "I doubt someone will ever read this, otherwise..." 🤣
Haha I love that ❤️
Feel the same. You just know it’s an AI looking for keywords. I’ve heard if you’re not playing live you won’t even be considered.
Damian, you never take your hands off the bicycle pedals, everyone knows that 😉
Are you doing any marketing content videos with small artists? Can't seem to make a breakthrough on my account, I'll be your test subject 🖖
Gotta save this for later
Goood plan, let’s smash 2025!! You got this 😊😊😊

So... if I chose not to use IG, I'm cooked?
🙏💥💯
Everything that is wrong about releasing music today. Data
im not sure if the people at Spotify are wasting their time looking tiny instagram profiles
This thing chooses house😂😂
