This explained it so much better than “official” courses I’ve been looking at on other platforms. Thank you for this content and pushing through for the amateur musician!
imo it’s more about temptation to try something else than it is about attention span. Think of singles vs. albums in the vinyl days. Your single has to be short, to the point, catchy all the way through, because people are very likely listening to it on the radio, and if your song gets boring for a second they can just switch station. You’re incentivised to be super catchy to keep people listening, and the station is incentivised to only play catchy stuff, to stop people turning over. With albums, the incentive is different, you can take an instrumental break, because even if people lose a little interest, do they lose enough interest to take the disc off their record player, to over to their collection and find something else to listen to? That’d take longer than just waiting for you to get interesting again, they already know they like you - that’s why they bought your album. Same thing now, only on steroids. People can swipe past you at literally any moment. There’s not even the inconvenience of tuning a radio, or searching for anything on youtube back in the day, or scanning recommendations, they just flick their thumb and you’re gone. The incentive structure now is for you to be interesting CONSTANTLY. It’s not about getting attention, it’s about keeping it. This second has to be engaging, and the next and the next and the next. It’s the only thing to stop the overpowering and much too easy urge to find out if there’s something more interesting a thumb flick away.
The thing is, TikTok know EXACTLY who to push our videos to. It wouldn’t be hard at all for the algorithm to look at who interacts with us, and push our content out to similar users. But no, for whatever reason. All we can do is keep making actual GOOD content and build ourselves follower by follower until the ball really starts rolling‼️
As someone who's been dabbling in photography for a number of years, just a couple of quick tips on lighting. Direct sunlight often creates unflattering shadows most of the day, so golden hours (sunrise/sunset) is helpful, or often even better is overcast where the sun becomes a bigger lightsource because it is scattered in clouds. Another trick could be to have the sun behind you and standing in front of a white wall, getting indirect light. A bigger lightsource is commonly more flattering, and while the sun is big, it is very far away. Hope this is helpful to someone. Thanks for the great video.
200-300 view prison really isn’t that bad guys… I’ve been “locked up” here for a fair few months and still went from 2,000 monthly’s on Spotify to over 40K. I don’t do any other promo other than posting TikTok, RUclips and Instagram videos: No paid ads. No chasing trends. Just posting the best content I can think of and constantly reviewing and tweaking to try and make it better. It’s easy to get discouraged when you see those numbers BECAUSE OF WHAT EVERYONE ELSE SAYS ABOUT IT, but if you stop trying to go viral and actually try to build a fan base 1 person by 1 person, you can do it. It takes time and people’s impatience, along with our egos thinking that going viral is the answer to all our problems, gets the better of us, but if you release that feeling you’ll enjoy making content a lot more a who knows, maybe go viral accidentally.
What do you see when you look at your detailed stats on Tik Tok? When I get like 400 views with 30-40 likes, it seems not so bad at first, but when I go in the detailed stats, I see most people skipped after less than 5s, and only 10-20 people actually watched the whole video. And the likes occur within the first 5 seconds, meaning people just "like" and swipe without even watching the whole thing. I can't imagine any of those people going out of their way to look me up on Spotify after this.
@@sloenmusic as someone who likes and skips videos often on TikTok, RUclips, and Insta, the people liking and swiping most likely find your content valuable but don't have the attention or desire at the moment to watch it. The idea is you want to see more content like that in a time you're actually feeling like it, so I wouldn't discount those people. Also if the majority of people skip really quickly consider spending more time making the first second of the video really banger and also pack the first 5s in with lots of engaging visuals or otherwise super valuable content. Best of luck!!

@@DamianKeyes Many thanks. Sorry, further question: Do you download the actual Tik Tok audio coz they added data to it or will the original on your PC do? I still don't understand what exactly means "5. collect data in the audio". You said "I want you to take a piece of audio and store that data and then I want you to use IT multiple times so when you putting IT out you're telling the platform Don't worry, I got you covered, you don't need to do that small amount of test group because all of the information is in this piece of content, you can use THAT every 3-4-5-6th piece of content if you want and keep coming back to IT so then the piece of content afterwards will have more data It'll have more stuff to go on". Can you please clarify, are you referring by (IT) to the original AUDIO in the first well-performed video and suggesting to give IT a meaningful name (rename audio in well-performed TikTok video directly in TikTok app) and then to insert that renamed audio instead of other original audios in some another video (3-4-5-6th), but not with a video editor like Premier or DaVinci, but directly in TikTok app during the publication of new video? I really feel dumb 😁 I haven't use TikTok for a while, so I'm unsure how that audio reusing works.
I think I understand now. I was just over-thinking it. Let's say you put out a piece of content that performs well. The first step is to go that that post, tap on the audio (which would be that circle in the lower right corner with your profile pic in it), then change the title of the sound from "Original Sound" to one that properly attributes you. Step 2+ is, when you create a new piece of content, use the "Use this sound" feature to "reuse" that audio. This way, each new piece of content you make uses that same piece of audio from that initial post, continually building up that database. Another way to explain-when you want to create a new piece of content using that same song segment, reuse what's already there, don't recreate it from scratch. Let that original post keep accumulating data. I think I got that right(??).
@@digitaldrooso basically give this original sound an "identity" so to say. Keep using it, that way tiktok can potentitally boost that video since it recognizes it by the data you collected.
