I do get the sense of knowing what the "old world" was like, i mean i was honestly always a nerdy kid and played a lot of games from a young age, but there was a barrier to that in that I had to use a PC or console which had some oversight from my parents. i think mobile devices are so dangerous because you always carry it with you
@@slimghost645 yeah but we also don't do anything besides watching reel so more than half of our memories is nothing but scrolling. If only we utilised that much time to create some actually realistic memories! But anyways we are on our phone 24/7
Saddest thing is seeing the older generation waste their remaining years just staring at their phone. No final goals and dreams just wasting their remaining years glued to social media
Exactly! And it seems to me that the older generations are getting addicted to phones but are not realizing the troubles it is causing to them, so it's even worst than it is with the younger generations
Ahh yeah definitely :( but also on the positive side they could be consuming content that’s good for them e.g educational videos or videos on nature etc 🥰 but yeah definitely it’s bad to see sometimes that there isn’t rlly a healthy balance and that a lot of their time is spent on their devices which also may not be bad but hard to see this loss of mindfulness in their lives almost 🥺❤️
To add to this: stop constantly listening to or watching things „in the background“ while doing other tasks. It doesn’t matter if it’s podcasts, audiobooks, RUclips, etc. You may feel like you‘re being „more productive“ or „multitasking“ but most of the time it is just noise that clouds your mind and numbs your thoughts. Embrace the silence. Edit: To clarify, I am not saying never, ever listen to things or that it is always bad to have something on in the background. I'm just suggesting to be more mindful of your consumption and to also allow for periods of silence from time to time during which you can experience your thoughts and emotions more clearly.
I second this. Doesn't matter if it's work, taking the bus, gaming, reading; be present and focus fully on what you are doing. Everything feels much more engaging and rewarding.
@magical_lizard731 Yeah because they've grown up used to it, it's not easy to completely remove something that's been there most of your life even if its something as small as social media
@@countluciomorgassonI agree, but honestly, it also gets better after getting out of high school. i’ve slowly started deleting social media apps but retained all my friends; it just matters on fufilling those connections first :)
getting off social media gave me the mental space to create so much change in my life. started reading books, going on bike rides, simply spending time outside with my dogs, learning guitar, knitting. literally became so much easier to do the things i've always yearned to do without the incessant and uncontrollable urge to go on social media and waste away so much precious time. my brain definitely tried to convince me not to delete it and i even have cravings to re-download it at times, seriously feels like trying to overcome a drug addition
“You’ll feel like a kid again” is the perfect description. I did this for 6 months and it was the best decision I ever took. You can seriously turn your life around by doing this.
I’m in college and I cannot spend more than an hour on Social Media 😂 I’m also a STEM major with straight As my ADHD would be a nightmare if I was using Social Media like these kids nowadays I would fail 😂
One thing that held me back was the fear of not understanding my friends' conversations, not having topics to talk about, not getting the latest jokes, and overall feeling out of touch. If you're going through the same thing, don't worry. As the days, weeks, and months go by without any social media, you realize how useless they are. There comes a point where, if you were tempted to download them again, create an account, and commit to using them, you simply have no interest. They bore you, just like the first time you ever tried them. Because that's what they are-boring. The idea that "oh, if I don't have social media, I'll be left out of everything that's happening" is a lie to keep you consuming. Trends and memes are so momentary that they don't even have an impact on real life. Unless you hang out with other people who are chronically online, who can't talk about anything other than the content they consume on the internet, quitting social media won't have any negative impact
This… I still use social media but I use them widely different than my friends. My friends use them and stay up to date with trends, our generation, the basic stuff you see on TikTok. And because I use them differently, example to stay up to date with my hobbies, I just don’t connect with what they talk about or find myself not interested. Even with my hobbies, I do want to eventually lessen my social media use as much so I can do more physical productivity with my hobbies and less being online indulging them.
true, but it honestly depends on what you watch on RUclips. it can be a great place to educate yourself, plus they tend to be longer (20-30 mins) so they aren't detrimental to our attention spans unlike social media.

@@ffion8815 i think that youtube works as a spotify thing, you just use it to watch or listen to something, but if you use it correctly can be very good, since you can watch interesting things and not only short videos (although, youtube shorts exist)
I’ve been doing this ever since I quit my job 1.5 years ago. Spent the better part of a year in rainforests and climbing mountains, I’ve filled like 7 journals, started crocheting, my art game leveled up big time and I literally learned how to think. I realised I have so much more potential than I knew when I was working from sunrise to sunset and then revenge scrolling to feel some control over my time in the little portions of nighttime that I didn’t spend crying. I genuinely believe that meaning in life is found in movement, play and authentic connection with others. This is where you find love. Not just intimate love but the deep platonic kind philosophers talk about. It’s just a shame I’m autistic and extremely antisocial though , I actually use social media as a tool to stay connected with certain people on purpose now, and to share my art occasionally. I don’t know who you are but I really enjoyed this video and the message it sends. Keep it up
Already did like 10 years ago. People will judge you super harshly for not having any social media, and people won't wanna talk to you because you can't increase their follower count. Works for me!
I deleted all of my social media for 9 months at the beginning of 2023 and it was THE BEST decision I’ve ever made. I went to college and downloaded everything again but after a month I decided to be done for good. It’s so toxic and the attention rush never ends. I’m finally reading long books, watching movies, and finishing tv shows again. As well as playing outside or just going on walks or journaling. Deleting social media was literally what saved my life. I highly recommend! Also, great video, thank you :)
Hey I wanted to ask, how does RUclips work for you. Personally I deleted insta, but I tend to scroll a lot on RUclips. And I don’t really feel that deleting insta made a difference. Do you have any tips?
hey can i ask a question? i usually contact people through instagram and that’s how I talk to my friends, and stay updated with ‘pop culture’ in a way 💀 i just wanted to ask if you considered the fact of not remaining in touch with many people before you deleted social media, and what made you follow through with deleting it despite that? i want to delete social media but i’m scared of not being able to talk to my friends as easily anymore, or make new ones as i usually do that through social media 😭 ignore the long sentences i yap a lot
Best decision ever. I made it because I felt deeply depressed, but I’m so happy now. Also started meditating and exercising, which also contributed to me being happier and more aware. Being present is life changing and it’s sad that social media is taking that away from people… I also started painting which I recommend a lot !! It’s very therapeutic 🌱🧘🏼✨

@IksanHaris exactly, I've never had tiktok or insta but youtube shorts is just as bad in terms of addiction, and you can't disable shorts without having to get rid of youtube entirely which means no more long form videos either
@@connythebeanPersonally I deleted RUclips from my phone so now I'm only able to watch vids on TV or on my tablet on the evening. Now I finally can take a piss without opening RUclips 😂

When we were kids, we didn’t have all this tech and social media, when we were bored we had to find things to do, and our parents wouldn’t let us get everything we wanted. This discipline is lost when we’re older, because now we make our own decisions. In a weird way, we kind of have to be parents to ourselves, making the uncomfortable decisions that will only make us better, healthier, and happier
In the early 2000s all of this Instagram, Tik Tok... garbage didn't exist. Everything was better. Imagine it's the early 2000s again. It would be so nice.
Shoot, good statement. I remember recreating lightsaber fights, and asking the boys on how the walking dead was because it was rated R and mom wouldn't let me watch it. If I was bored I would go and pick Lukes lightsaber from hasbro and go beat the living hell out of my brother, now its just hopping onto a mobile game. The same kids who where playing Jurassic park are now watching corn and making A.I corn. Phones are not the problem its how much people abuse it, corn and all that bs.

I made this VERY difficult decision in 2022... I still find myself gravitating back when I am struggling but I am slowly but surely learning. It's so beautiful. I am getting back into my passions I am finally figuring out what I want to do in my life.
It's been 1 year , last year in Feb I remembered of deleting my social media.. I was bored Af for weeks.. after i relaized it actually was wasted my time from last many years.. and now after there is no loss in terms of career only loss was rid of unwanted peoples from my life... now I have a small circle fo friends whom I can spend time with.. by playing cricket or football... or going out for ride.. now I don't post pictures where I travel.. but love the feeling of living in that movement.. @@albertalfaro I honestly don't know. It mind not sound much but as a gen z freshly out of highschool I see so many people my age trying to fight against their phone consumption and such mouvement indeed has begun in the youth, you can see all sorts of "quit your phone" videos now everywhere. Also I might be saying nonsense but I don't see the Apple vision system as the revolutionnary thing everyone thinks it is. This must be the 3rd time we are introduced to some VR headset-like concept. Of course it'll integrate many people's everyday lives (especially in the working field) but a lot of the noise seems to come from paid promotion by Apple on social media.
@@disco_depression Oh yeah, I’m part of gen z but sadly my friends don’t think like us, last time I closed social media and they instantly told me I was crazy and such lol.

Sorry you’re going through this. I wish someone told me when I was your age that going through the ups and downs is literally a part of life and it happens for the rest of your life. Learning to be resilient and managing and coping is the best way to manage it. It’s hard, but understanding that through every trial, you are learning and growing and trying to appreciate all parts of life make it easier. Lots of love to you, you’re amazing! ❤️
No insta, no snap, no tiktok - only RUclips: I tell myself primarily for study videos - although I still get distracted here, which is what I'm trying to stop. Good luck folks 😊
doom scrolling is like channel surfing the tv. It's aimless and time-consuming. Shorts and Tiktok are channel surfing. The fact that I didn't have Tiktok until 2020 is actually wild. What did i do before that. Ahhhh
Knowing that tiktok has especially been designed to be addictive to the max by the very efficient use of algorithms (btw, the same is true for shein & temu), and seeing what kind of effect it has on my friends, made me decide to absolutely never have it myself. I was devastated when my friend suggested me a video on yt she found interesting and she apologized it's "a bit long" and I expected it to be something like 30-60min, but it was literally 1min 30sek, was the last warning sign I needed. I'm used to watch over hour long lectures on yt as my standard, for her anything longer than a minute is exhausting. And she's very addicted to tiktok.
I felt confused, lost and didn't even know what i wanted to do. I just realized that the things what I loved to do hadn't pleasure for me anymore, hobbies like read, draw, watch videos or study about the things that I liked just was in a "second plan". Then I turn off my cellphone for a couple of days and then it looked pleasurable again. It made me alive again (im sorry for my English )
Here i was feeling dumb that instagram had such a grip over my self-esteem, you made me realize that it's just a toxic app and that it doesnt really matter after all

this video is so accurate, in recent months I've deleted my accounts and social media, but I still end up falling back on them or on the coping mechanisms, it's important that we realize what things are directing our lives to be aware of where we want to go and who we want to be! thank you for sharing your experience ❤
Totally right and same experience for me too , while I'm away of the phone I asked my self why not just be board , why just sit and think and do what I was not doing , and that's really helped me alot. And a simple advice for everyone who will keep using social media , just don't use it too much okay , and be aware that its only taking your energy from you , give it atleast a time of the day but all the day keep working and holding and scrolling the same time. Keep being healthy and love yourself more.
I'm heartened to hear this and to see the comments, because you are discovering something important: there is so much more to life than the virtual realities of social media. I'm 70 years old and grew up in the material reality of real social interactions, real things to do, the real streets and woods, making things, doing things. This real world was stolen from your generation and I cheer for you as you reclaim your lives from the virtual reality. Keep making videos, Tadeo! You're doing great!
@@minecraftwithgadget1848 same here. I miss the old times and I want to change some things a little bit, all I can. Sadly the world around us doesn't change. People build more things, mordern, digital. It will be a downfall one day.
Gonna be honest this was the first video recommended to me this morning as I opened RUclips, and I'm gonna try and take your message to heart. Thanks man ✌️💛
I feel so silly admitting a small device had such an impact on me- but it left a cave in my heart I'm trying to mend right now. When I was younger, I felt inadequate and insecure about myself. I found solace in scrolling through social media, seeking validation and connection. However, looking back, I realize that this habit only fueled my insecurities and prevented me from truly improving. I used social media as a coping mechanism to fill a void and as a form of self-harm. This behavior became a long-standing habit, lasting for nine years, where I spent most of my time scrolling and playing games. Eventually, this led to a period of depression lasting eight months during my freshman year of high school when I realized I needed to start living my life. The impact of this habit on my mental health was significant. I'm a junior in high school. I'm struggling still. Whenever I put my phone down I feel overwhelmed by the amount of doors that open for me.
Did a dopamine detox a few times. No phone, no screen, fasting. Doing absolutely nothing. It's nice and helps with social media usage. Haven't used Instagram and Facebook for years (apart from managing FB ads) My only vice is RUclips shorts, but time to cut that out as well.
@@yo371 there are some extensions you can download that remove shorts, but mostly it is just a matter of willpower. you can begin by just closing the shelf on the reccommended page, helps me a lot
I am a watcher from Brazil. I stopped to use social media a few days before Christmas and you described exactly what I am feeling. It was the best choice in years. I can see the world like a young and happy person again! It's a freedom feeling.
@@Klo-papier I love it when people write before the comment where they are from.)) I’m from Ukraine, for example, although in Germany. You understand how many people in the world know English. And you can imagine how he writes it in his country, and you read it in a completely different place
This really spoke to me as I’ve been feeling it lately after transitioning out of a really busy season. I feel like even younger generation needs to hear this, get it, and try. I heard there is not real creativity without boredom & since we are never bored we are just filling up space forcing it vs living and being. I want to try this soon.(although I noticed my total screen time equals what yours was after but still could use it)
I agree with everything you said! Honestly deleting social media last month was a great personal decision for me! It was a distraction, toxic, and a coping dopamine mechanism to stay away from reality. Now I’m reading my Bible more, hanging out with my friends, playing board games, and reading books. I honestly feel like my life is more free and productive now. My life doesn’t feel fake. Thanks for sharing this information! 🙂
Getting off of social media is one of the best things I've ever done! My mind feels quieter and calmer and all of the thoughts in my head are my own. I didn't even think about how many of my thoughts were influenced/regurgitated from strangers online. I've truly never been happier.
Oh yeah, exactly my thoughts. I want my thoughts to be truly my own because i noticed how easy it is to manipulate people. Also I genuenly didn't care about content i saw there
I love when people speak from experience. I’ve been wanting to distance myself from my phone for a while now but couldn’t find the motivation and this video kind of did it for me. I’m writing this more as a promise to myself that from tomorrow on I’ll uninstall my social media apps and try to use my phone as little as possible and we’ll see how it goes! Thank you man! 🙏
Also put your phone into a drawer and write down your to-do list. Now do the work and once it's completed, use your phone as a reward. In this way, you will be more productive. You will tend to finish the work for faster. Bonus tip: In to-do list, write down this: going for a walk for 30min, meditating, drawing, taking a nap, shower etc. Remember to-do list is not only about chores, it can hold anything 😊
I did this one year ago, i was in the last grade of highschool so the two months befor finals i gave my phone to my mom and told her to give it back when i finish finals, i spent the two months without phone studying 16hur a day so i was busy to do other things but..even my study was different without phone i be more focusing and understand things way faster, i had a great organizing for my time per day and i could finish many things in one day that i used to finish in a week with phone being near me, i became smarter and felt that one week is enough to learn a whole new different language! Yall im telling u that i almost became intelligent lol, i wanted to stay like this after taking my phone but couldn't tho, i took my phone after two months and became addicted again really quickly😕 but ik that i can live without it and it will be so cool to do it again but in the holiday so i can do more than study! ❣️Quick note since u read my journey i took my finals and graduated with 93% avg and now im a pharmacy student🫶🏻
For anyone who isn’t willing to give up social media but still struggles with their mental health; I point to exercise and meditation. Words cannot describe how much better I felt when I started working out, and I actually ended up finding out that I really love running and joining my schools track and cross country team. I’ve also just recently started meditating (nothing much, just 3-5 minutes every day here and there) and I’ve noticed how much more clear and creative I feel doing tasks afterwards. Start small, you’ll immediately notice the difference.
Yeah, I want to delete sm but…. I kinda have to have it to stay in the group I thankfully opted out of TikTok by saying I was banned from it from my parents(which was true, but I also hate it due to ppl eating Borax and their feces) Yeahhh, I hate life
This is really true ! But I think we can eliminate something else of our lifes too: watching time too often. No, seriously. When I was a child, I didn't have this consciousness of time than now. At this age, I didn't have the need to know what time is it, I just didn't care. The more we grow, the more we have obligations and the more we watch what time is it, but I surprise me to do it the weekend or at moments where I have nothing urgent to do. Thinking constantly to time is stressful for me, and prevent me to be fully lost in the things I love to do. Because when I watch time, I think on what I have to do in few hours, or tomorrow. So I think that, when we don't really have urgent things to do, we can delete watches, clocks, in addition to screens.
I got rid of my old wallclock cause I didn't like the design anymore and it wasn't sticking to the wall all that well anymore. But I very rarely miss having a clock in my bedroom. I need to know the time when watching a series or youtube to keep track of my screen time - but my computer has that. And when i really need to know I can always nudge my phone to show me the time on the lock screen. Easy and out of sight when not needed.
I can’t exactly delete my clocks. And it’s not because I care what time it is 24/7, I just have a huge clock collection that I love to death. 😁 Honestly, waiting for a chime clock to sound on the hour will always be the highlight of my childhood. So if I wanna feel like a kid again, I guess I’ll do that, run in when my Seiko goes off. 😁 (And my other chimers, it gets pretty chaotic on the hour. 😁) Little bit joking, but I can’t get rid of my clocks for that reason. 😁
I deleted my wp and insta about 2 days ago and I realized that I have a lot of free time and I could be productive in this free time and also I feel so relieved and peaceful. I do meditation very often and also I can't see the unrealistic social media standards anymore which I used to compare myself with others and now things just changed a lot and I'm happy now and carefree. Carefree of that no one will judge me and even I won't compare myself. It's a great step and the more you start avoiding your phone, the more productive and happy you'd be. ✨
So glad I quit social media back in 2020. Social media is information overload. My headspace feels much more free to wander and imagine when its not packed with information about other people's lives. Social media can make you feel like you're being "let in" on the every day details of other people's lives, but often it is only a highlight reel that leads to jealousy and miscommunication. Connection and learning about my friend's lives is most satisfying and fruitful when its in person.
I am glad to see you chose to ignore the three users who "corrected" you. They aren't wrong, RUclips still social media, but the fact that's all they pointed out shows how little they really cared for your words.
Maybe the future is people revert to flip phones or even just house phones bc they realize how counter-productive it can be to possess so much so easily. I hope that is our future, where human connections are established wholesomely and valued higher than they are now. Great vid, short and to the point for those who have lost their attention span from doom scrolling (aka me)

I did this for a few days during my breakup phase and I found myself and Found out that no one is ours here: we are all alone here, so love loneliness and do not make a habit of anything that is not you: you are the best.
Social media makes you feel like "Everybody having beatiful life, why I'm stuck here?" and this initiates depression in human brain. Very nice content, loved that Gala shirt in 1:25 ❤ greetings from Turkey
I deleted TikTok a few days ago and man, when I tell you it changed me, it really did. In just three days I feel like a more productive and happier person. Instead of doomscrolling and watching all the horrible things happening in the world that you can’t change, you focus on your own world and you just need to get away from all that bad news. For example, I’m pro-Palestine and so many videos in my feed were about the bad things happening there, and it just came to a point that it was hurting me more than helping, as I couldn’t do anything to change the situation and it was just making me feel depressed. Deleting TikTok and twitter, you’re right it did make me feel like a kid again. I go outside more, I read more, I feel like I’m building an actual life for myself instead of watching other people live their lives and wishing that I was them. I went cold turkey and i have honestly never felt better, it might be the best thing that’s happened to me. If I hadn’t deleted it then who knows, right? It’s good that I’m breaking the habit early, as I’m fortunately still a teenager and have so much of my life left, so I’m lucky I haven’t wasted it yet.
To be honest I was very hesitant on deleting social media for this very reason because it felt like if I did then I’d be ignoring all of those people that have to suffer. But at the same time I know that there’s little to nothing I can do about it and I’d only be harming myself by continuing to consume that kind of content. I didn’t realize how negatively social media has been affecting me until now.
I deleted twitter, tiktok and instagram because people are mean, toxic and I don't know if it's me but I feel forced to do things to be valid in social media, I only kept youtube to distract myself because I have anxiety and I feel so good, it's just like freedom, I don't know if i'm overreacting but I think social media is the reason why people feel so depressed nowadays😊
Fr i haven't gotten a new phone ever since it was broken and that was since last year. It's been pretty peaceful and kinda life changing without all the scrolling. I feel more relaxed and I'm not too worried about other people's lives. No more comparing. Just me being present in life. The best part about this is that i didn't expect for it to happen and take away all the access of my socials, friends, etc. Because of it i started going back doing all the things i used to love like my hobbies. Its really refreshing. I recommend
Haven’t used for 3 years and it taught me one of the most precious lessons ever. I recently reopened my social media and I have developed complete self control over my consumption of social media - i mainly just use it on weekends. Heres what i learnt: first, you don’t miss out. By spending less time on shallow relationships, in return u realise u build much deeper relationships with a few close friends who maintain the relationships through intentional conversations. Second, you have clearer head and saved a lot of time that you can focus better on your goals and things that truly matter to you.
I love this video. I deleted all social media as a New Year’s resolution when I was like 14, and honestly it was one of the best choices I ever made. I’m such a big advocate for leaving that addictive brain rot, it changed my life and I feel like I’m really enjoying my teens like no one around me because it feels more like a prolonged child hood, because of all the curiousity and wonder at the little things you feel constantly

ugh, i really felt this message!! i delete my socials every now and then but I am starting to think about doing it for real next time. I can't pinpoint the reason why I go back and forth with it but the one thing I am sure of is that deleting social media boosted my productivity not so much in the academic aspect but on a more individual/spiritual level so that is great
This video resonated with me so much. I *always* tell people I want life to be like when we were younger, we would call each other to hangout, we wouldn’t get upset if someone didn’t talk to us, (ex.texting, people get so upset about being left on delivered but what if someone was just busy? Getting too attached too fast), there was never ill feelings if you disappeared and then reappear, it would just be like “oh hey! Long time no see what’ve you been up to? Where did you go??!” But now it’s all like “oh you ghosted us, you left us hanging etc” I loved your video so much because 1. You went straight to the point 2. You didn’t add anything extra like other RUclipsrs 3. Super short video and super informative in just 5 MINUTES?!? wow This was the push I needed, you’re so right about scrolling being a coping mechanism, I’ve deleted all social media but I still see myself trying to find any website or something to scroll on. I’ll try what you did and I’ll update my comment in maybe 6 months!!
Great video brother...the saddest part about what you're explaining in the first 1:40 of this video is that you were simply reverting back to being human... your thoughts were yours, your actions were focused on what YOU wanted to do, not what you wanted to be seen... our parents, grandparents, and alllll the generations before lived like that 24/7. Their days belonged to them. Way to take your life back!!!!
This is so true. I started to delete social media when i realized that i felt more happier off the screen. I also realized how productive or how many things i could do without my phone. As a teen, this was a really eye-opening observation so i just decided to do it. It's honestly so sad when i look around and i see people my age being addicted to their phones. I wish that someday people realize how much there is to life than some glowing screen. It doesn't matter if no one liked your story, or if no one texted you. Its life. Go do something that will actually benefit you and make your brains less overstimulated so you can actually focus on tasks you need to do. I would also like to add that ever since I deleted social media, ive started to get better results in school, appreciating more, connecting with nature, appreciating relationships with my friends, family, and ive even started working out! Please, people, there is more to life than your phones. Life is precious, appreciate it while you can or you'll regret later on.
I’m 28 and I haven’t been on social media for 9 years. The feeling of just opting out of something so negative is just great. Being on the outside looking in at my brothers and friends makes me kind of sad for them. However I DO have to have them explain a joke sometimes because I’m out of the loop
Yes i have done it distancing from social media ppls is one of the best thing thank you soo much i have been away from social media for sm days and it really helps i will do it further❤
Hey! I’ve been on and off social media for a while now, but somehow it kept coming back because of excuses like “ not missing out “ or “ i look good so I shound re-download TikTok to film myself “, etc.. But honestly I feel like it’s just so mindless and I need to rediscover the peace and joy in my life! So I have decided I’m gonna quit social media for good so that I can focus better on the meaningful things 🙂 Thank you so much for this videos that motivated me to do this! I’ll update u guys on my progress 💕
I took this advice last year. Found out pretty quickly that you lose a ton of friends when you do this. Sure, some folks will still catch up periodically, and you can reach out to people if you make time, but you’re severely limiting your social interactions with people who you do not see reguarally. Just be aware of that risk before you do it, especially if you have a lot of friends who don’t live/work in the same place you do.
Yes, it's all worth it. Better sleep, better presence of mind, and obviously better vibes. Yes, it's true that in starting, you will face a weird type of feeling, anxiety etc. for some days but just continue, in some days you will feel much better.❤✨
Bro, thanks for sharing this content with us. I realized how much time did I spent behind screens, like, my computer, TV, my phone etc.. And it generate a lot of anxiety for my future and what would I want to do later. I would to be free and reconnect with nature and myself. Now I will limited screen thanks to you. Thanks :)
I got rid of social media years ago and have been reading more, exercising more, cooking more, and achieved my dream goals. I also just hung out with my friends in person and feel energized. Don’t let these social media companies take away your life- bc that’s exactly what they want as it lines up their wallets
I recently turned 20 and while I still have a lot of adulthood left to experience, it already feels like so much has changed since I was a teenager. I don’t get joy out of being on my phone anymore, I miss having hobbies and feeling like I’m enjoying the present. Social media is just this toxic, energy draining presence in my life and videos like this are what keep me going with my goal to essentially quit my phone. Even when I don’t have energy for anything else but mindless scrolling, I’m trying to remind myself that the less I’m on it the closer I’ll get to that childlike wonder that I thought I lost
its so sad that we were the last generation who got to have a genuine childhood without screens
I do get the sense of knowing what the "old world" was like, i mean i was honestly always a nerdy kid and played a lot of games from a young age, but there was a barrier to that in that I had to use a PC or console which had some oversight from my parents. i think mobile devices are so dangerous because you always carry it with you
I have two nephews who are in love with RUclips and video games. They don’t know how to go outside and have fun. It’s sad to watch

I will test it out and see if im more productive, thanks buddy

When we were kids, we didn’t have all this tech and social media, when we were bored we had to find things to do, and our parents wouldn’t let us get everything we wanted.
No phone ??? What did you use ?
@@Starr_lit nothing, sit on your ass and think, maybe do some walking
@@Starr_lit telepathy.
If you want to cut out youtube shorts is the only option deleting the entire app itself or more a matter of willpower?
@@yo371 there are some extensions you can download that remove shorts, but mostly it is just a matter of willpower. you can begin by just closing the shelf on the reccommended page, helps me a lot
I am a watcher from Brazil. I stopped to use social media a few days before Christmas and you described exactly what I am feeling. It was the best choice in years. I can see the world like a young and happy person again! It's a freedom feeling.
especially for you man, I know when summer hits in Brazil & if you're still off the socia media it will get WILD!!!
Crazy
How did everyone and their mum become heavy drug addicts in a span of not even 15 years?!?
🤔
I Love how brazilians always, at every Chance they got, say That They are From Brazil
(No Hate, i Just find it incredible funny)
@@Klo-papier I love it when people write before the comment where they are from.))
I’m from Ukraine, for example, although in Germany. You understand how many people in the world know English.
And you can imagine how he writes it in his country, and you read it in a completely different place
It's amazing, I'm also from Brazil
Also I genuenly didn't care about content i saw there
@@TomTom-bh2wf What have you been doing instead now that you've quit, may I ask?
You make a vital & honest presence not overwhelming at all or acting up in any way. Nice energy & great motivation 👍🏻👏🏻
Good luck, you can do it 🙏🏼❤️
i didn’t delete my social media, i’ve just spent a lot less time on it. my life feels a lot less anxious now.
I kinda have to have it to stay in the group
I thankfully opted out of TikTok by saying I was banned from it from my parents(which was true, but I also hate it due to ppl eating Borax and their feces)
Yeahhh, I hate life
Jesus loves yall and died for us! Jesus calls for all of us to repent!!!!!!!!!! !! !

I second this so hard! The same two things changed my life. ESPECIALLY meditation :)
@@donkeyexpresss true 😂😂
This is really true ! But I think we can eliminate something else of our lifes too: watching time too often. No, seriously. When I was a child, I didn't have this consciousness of time than now. At this age, I didn't have the need to know what time is it, I just didn't care. The more we grow, the more we have obligations and the more we watch what time is it, but I surprise me to do it the weekend or at moments where I have nothing urgent to do. Thinking constantly to time is stressful for me, and prevent me to be fully lost in the things I love to do. Because when I watch time, I think on what I have to do in few hours, or tomorrow. So I think that, when we don't really have urgent things to do, we can delete watches, clocks, in addition to screens.
wow man this is something I will surely do
I got rid of my old wallclock cause I didn't like the design anymore and it wasn't sticking to the wall all that well anymore.
Honestly, waiting for a chime clock to sound on the hour will always be the highlight of my childhood.
So if I wanna feel like a kid again, I guess I’ll do that, run in when my Seiko goes off. 😁
(And my other chimers, it gets pretty chaotic on the hour. 😁)
Little bit joking, but I can’t get rid of my clocks for that reason. 😁
PERFECT VIDEO! Thank you a million times! I’m 23 and really felt the addiction the past 2 months I REALLY need a reset right now!
Connection and learning about my friend's lives is most satisfying and fruitful when its in person.
youtube is also a social media
For like youtube is the most addicting app for me
@@moisttowelette4668i agree it’s so much information in one app

I am glad to see you chose to ignore the three users who "corrected" you. They aren't wrong, RUclips still social media, but the fact that's all they pointed out shows how little they really cared for your words.
Maybe the future is people revert to flip phones or even just house phones bc they realize how counter-productive it can be to possess so much so easily. I hope that is our future, where human connections are established wholesomely and valued higher than they are now. Great vid, short and to the point for those who have lost their attention span from doom scrolling (aka me)
That’s a great idea. After my phone contract is up I will definitely buy a flip phone

thanks mate, i appreciate that you made this video, so i’m gonna delete every social media and then comment here a year later and see what will

I feel the same way. Watching people being hurt everyday and not being able to do anything, but it overwhelms your feed. It just wasn’t healthy
Same I deleted TikTok a month ago I feel better
Need this to happen to me.... Happy for you...
My self control is really poor
I love this video. I deleted all social media as a New Year’s resolution when I was like 14, and honestly it was one of the best choices I ever made. I’m such a big advocate for leaving that addictive brain rot, it changed my life and I feel like I’m really enjoying my teens like no one around me because it feels more like a prolonged child hood, because of all the curiousity and wonder at the little things you feel constantly
Exactly! Hold onto your childlike wonder, life is so much better with it.
Making a decision like this in the time we live in and especially being a teen is a big brave one, congratulations!

Where did you go??!” But now it’s all like “oh you ghosted us, you left us hanging etc”
I loved your video so much because 1. You went straight to the point 2. You didn’t add anything extra like other RUclipsrs 3. Super short video and super informative in just 5 MINUTES?!? wow

Yes so much vanity smh
I took this advice last year. Found out pretty quickly that you lose a ton of friends when you do this. Sure, some folks will still catch up periodically, and you can reach out to people if you make time, but you’re severely limiting your social interactions with people who you do not see reguarally. Just be aware of that risk before you do it, especially if you have a lot of friends who don’t live/work in the same place you do.
Wonderful, inspiring, and not a bad idea.
