Might this be a nice budget option for your flight simming needs? What are your thoughts?
Pancake lenses?
Disco vr complained about it Running hot. Did you experience this at all?
@@bungeevr No way... and they fit snug on the Reverb G2?... link?... if you don't mind.
Thanks for this video. It would be interesting to see a "trhough the lens" comparison vs high-end (superexpensive) headsets such as Varjo or Crystal to understand which is the gap in image clarity.
Glad to hear you enjoy Flight Simulator on E4, love to see more gamer try it out!
OK so I thought this headset was crap but I have to say, the more I think about it, the more it starts to make sense. No windows mixed reality, no burning hot display charing your face like the G2, better tracking, way better comfort, and better refresh rate than the G2?? I feel like this is an index/G2 baby. I don't see why everyone is hating on it? Just the comfort aspect of it looks worth it. The damn thing weighs HALF what the G2 weighs? Larger sweet spot too? Better binocular overlap than any headset? I would argue this is a pretty good buy, even WITH a 4090. Why not just get this and max it out at 120hz with a 4090... Seems like a good alternative to spending crazy money on a Varjo, or buying a Quest pro. I had the quest pro and while it was absolutely amazing optics, it sucked for sim racing! I have a 4090/7800x3d and maxed out the quest pro on link with open XR etc. It was nothing special! Fast motions sucks on anything that doesn't have a displayport!
When are you going to do a video showing the Crystal on your 3080 machine? On msfs please
Hi Sebs ! Does this DPVR headset make use of OpenXR Tools for Windows Mixed Reality and associated OpenXR Toolkit for fine tuning motion reprojection etc... ?
I was just trying this for best saber, does the steam vr menu shake on you?
Also, I can't get Saints and Sinners Retribution to work with it cause it doesn't recognize the controllers? But it works with Kill it with Fire VR
Lastly does it get hot quick for you?
I play halflife helix every day without fatigue for hours, this headset in addition to being lightweight does not have contact with the face, the screen refresh rate is 120hz and the same as a gamer monitor !! and the best Oculus I've ever played in VR out of all I've used!
Surprised by your 'findings' after many pre-production YT reviews a couple of months ago...
Looking to replace a rift s for simracing. And really like the DisplayPort connection for that....
is there any way to decrease the "jittery effect" so the pov camera does not tremble so much?
Does the DPVR E4 not have a 3.5mm jack in the headset then? I currently use some high quality earbuds with my Rift S and I'm looking for a headset upgrade. I would prefer not to use wireless as then it's introducing a battery into the equation which is what I wanted to avoid by choosing a wired headset.
So it seems that the E4 still has a lot of advantages over the G2. I'm a Q2 user, but I find steamvr more to my liking. I have to buy PCVR for my next one!
I am 40 series graphics card btw, I wonder how well the E4 is optimized for the latest graphics cards?
You won't have problems with Nvidia cards. Should be a really good experience!
Looks great. How do you think this will perform for sim racing on a RTX 4080? The 120Hz and larger sweet spot compared to the HP G2 is attractive for me.
You mentioned every headset apart from an actual DP headset like the reverb g2?
Can you use open XR with this? Thanks.
Eek, now i'm maybe tossing up between this and a pico 4. I'm planning to run a 4080 so not too concerned about powering the pico 4 through godmode, but i'm still a little uncertain about things like latency, and of course having more fps in general would be a benefit. I guess pico 4 is better in resolution, but worse because of compression? This seems hard to tease apart.
Thanks for the video :)
You got it. But Pico 4 got real IPD adjustment. The Pico 4 is, a real winner.
I have a 3070, would it still be ok?
How you can use Vr at 30fps?? Good experience?? Really??
How does it compare to the G2? Would like to see a video on that.
It is visually comparable if your IPD is around 65mm. Mine's 70, and I had to return the DPVR as a result. The G2 looks better over all, the DPVR has the advantage of 120hz, but that is unlikely to matter in MSFS.
@@julianmazzola Oh man, I meant to respond to this and forgot. I have an IPD of 61 so that's a bit worrying. Thanks for the answer!
I would love a through the lens video before pulling the trigger. I am looking for a DisplayPort HMD
It looks great.
Can you do a through the lens comparison please
Sorry fernel lenses for me are a thing of the past. I got so used to pankakes lenses I can't go back
Any other (affordable) VR headsets out there besides Pico 4 with pankake lenses (and with displayport connection)?
You were talking about Pico 4 right?
Nope
Could you make a review of this headset for dcs
Would you say its better than the Reverb G2 for MSFS?
Better
If it was around 300/400 price it might have bridged the gap until more cheaper tech comes out but it will still be £550 £600 in the uk
I see you use FPS VR Steam together with MSFS2020. Would you please advice how to make both applications work together. Because when I start FPS VR Steam and then MSFS2020… the FPS VR closing immediately. Would you please help? Thanks!
You probably don't use steamvr for openxr. And that's fine. Guess you are on a G2? Then you have your own openxr implementarion and fpsvr won't work.
@@mixedrealityTV I don’t use OpenXR at all 😀
Know where sells it in UK. Did you use xr tool kit with it? The grid Home Screen looked like oculus copy
No one does. Their discord is relatively active and they said this morning they are actively looking for U.K. retailers. Until then you can buy direct with £39 shipping and £100 in import taxes. If you get a faulty headset you have to return and pay shipping and taxes again. I want one to replace my rift s for sim racing, but I’m not buying until it’s available in the U.K. way too pricey and risky for us currently!
@@jamesleegte5753 I’ve just had a reply from DPVR customer support, they said they are looking to be selling on Amazon UK later in the year!
@@andrewwhite2793 awesome thank you! I saw on their discord that they “were looking to make a U.K. release hopefully happen” but your message is far more encouraging, thank you!
@@jamesleegte5753 I think it might be an excellent option if Pico don’t bring a dp version of the pico4 out. The P4 looks great but to have to purchase a 4090 to run it is not an option for me and a bit stupid. Might as well shell out for an Aero or Crystal (which I can’t afford either).
@@andrewwhite2793 disco vr you tuber is on a 3080 and she’s running it just fine and I think seb from mrtv was also running it on a 3080. It will likely be the same as a g2, you just need to turn steam resolution per eye settings down below 100% on certain games for certain gpu’s. All I want is a basic vr headset that’s DisplayPort only, is light in weight, looks better than my rift s, has a headphone jack, inside out tracking with no base station requirements and is native to steam vr with no need for additional software to be open. This is the only headset in the last couple of years that ticks these boxes and I’ve given up on the index 2 / deckard releasing any time soon. So I’m praying on this headset to retire my rift s for sim racing.
How is the sweet spot? Having used (and returned) a G2 with fresnal lenses, the sweet spot on those was tiny, and I had trouble reading gauges when I looked with my eyes instead of my head. Same issues with these? I use a Pico 4 now with the pancake leneses and the sweet spot is the whole screen.
Sweetspot is really good.
Seb, can you do ALYX next please?
how is nightflying? Much backlight?
It's the same panel as a Quest2, the backlight is very strong and not good for contrast
in fact I noticed with the brightness set to 100%, you can hear the backlight humming
@@julianmazzola So in other words, not good for nightflying?
28 fps - yes ! :)
The picture quality.. is it better than the Reverb G2?
It is not better than the G2, but it is close, if your IPD is around 65.
@@julianmazzola Thus my journey for a better VR set continues...
Frankly, I prefer E4 with 120hz. Much smoother Gotta say
@@arden7032 That's very much game dependent. Most of the games I play, I struggle to keep a solid 90 fps. 120 is out of the question for me so I would take the better picture over the Hz.
What is the horizontal FOV?
116 it says on their website.
@@bobeyes3284 not bad for the price. 130+ of course would be better but hey...
@@tomtomkowski7653 It looks like a decent headset. I already have a Reverb (and a spare reverb) so I was looking for something as an upgrade. The problem I have buying a DPVR is import duty and tax. It means I would be paying another $250 on top of the $550, it's not an $800 headset. Right now if both of mine broke, I would just grab another Reverb for 75% the price of the DPVR.
@@bobeyes3284 that's diagonal
Fresnel lenses with LCD.. yawn.. just more of the same optics as hmds such as the quest 2, which I hated so much I took it back to best buy. (Can't stand blurry & God rays).
30fps are you joking. For vr??? Your graph is red, but it is a good experience??
In MSFS where there's not a lot of fast motion, 30fps is not as bad as most games. Although he moves his head a lot, so hard to tell. Also he had it at default settings, so there's some improvements he could make in settings
Hi Jamie, MSFS is an extremely taxing game. It's hard to get good fps. Especially if you want it to look good. So hi, welcome to VR!
Hmmm... VoodooDE VR has a totally different view of this headset...
that was a preprod unit
@@Killswitch1411 wheres the video?
erst mal kaufen ;D
I just watched a review on this headset claiming it gets unbearably hot!!
Nope.
@@mixedrealityTV it’s not true?
@@mixedrealityTV is the G2 hotter?
@@johnspanos3862 I did not have the problem of it becoming "unbearingly hot".
@@mixedrealityTV interesting. The girl that reviewed it said she expects a lot of people to return it because it's too hot and needs a fix. She claims the fans do nothing to cool it down. Very weird! Would you say it's hotter than the G2? The same? I know my G2 got very warm after a while.
🖖🏼
Why would anyone buy this instead of the pico 4 for a cheaper price?
I have both and I would strongly prefer a tethered headset for simming, it just looks so much better. Especially for games that can hit 120hz.
Not everyone can buy the Pico 4.
@@mixedrealityTV Name 10 people who cannot buy the Pico 4
cuz pico 4 looks way worse in action...like all streaming headsets....
@@kietay6505there is a who!e continent of them....
This is a low quality, no support, poorly build copycat headset, don't loose your money on this kind of crap. Get an index, quest 2 or G2. Buy used if you're in a budget, those are low quality headsets. No Pimax, no other BS brand chinese stuff, don't do it.
Copycat of what? They have been making VR headset right from the beginning. My first headset was from DPVR, something like 2016 maybe.
Hi Mr., have you actually tried it? Have you watched my review about it? If yes, what are you talking about?
@@mixedrealityTV Of course I did and that is my view, what does that mean what I am talking about? I know very well what the fc I am talking about. This is an expensive low quality hmd compared to G2, Index, Quest 2.
@@mrbilginc index has bad resolution. g2 has a tiny sweetspot and junk controllers, and quest 2 is forced into compression.
@@Realz-bb3uf Index has better FOV, g2 has better resolution, Quest 2 is cheaper and AIO, and all 3 have better support, build quality! Don't buy chinese crap!
