I love this performance so much! But oh my god I can't believe BOTH straps broke?? How did she not even flinch?? And the fact that the first one broke exactly on beat is hilarious. Also, I love the braids in her hair!
Too much talent for one dress to handle!
What a line up of star's
Kate Bush, Phil Collins, midge ure, Mick Karn, gary brooker
Pete Townshend 😊
If only the genius of Mick Karn had played on the album version. RIP
I LOVE that Mick is so high in the mix!
ANY song Mick Karn plays on goes at least 4 levels up from where it began....
had a wardrobe malfunction but still ran through with it, performing icon.
Karn and Bush!
This woman is one of the best singers of all time.
Not only! One of the best music writer of all time too!
How much crystalline talent on the stage at the same time? Kate, Mick, Pete, Phil, Midge...omg!!!!
The band lineup taken from all my favourite groups (Japan, Who, Magazine, Ultravox, Genesis)...superlative!
Fucking Mick Karn, coolest base player ever! And one of the greatest. Mick Karn - Fuck Yeah!!
Mick should have replaced John Entwistle in The Who.
Amazing bass player.
Its all about Mick! RIP
That was quite a strapping performance!
Mick Karn R.I.P.
A day dream Mick Karn,a part of Porcupine Tree? No a young Steven W ,played on a few collaborations with Mick K,and Richard.B,so not so far fetched my mission in my 70th year is to collect as many M Karn works of art,for future Generations,to enjoy. R.I.P Mick Peace and Blessings
This 'backing band' is legend!
Kate the Great! The strap of her top becomes untied and Kate sings on.Love her.
I had the VHS tape of this which also included Jethro Tull.
OMG. Mick Karn of Japan with Kate Bush.
...and Phil Collins and Pete Townsend!!
... and I love the growl of his bass in combination with the chorus effect. A fretless Wal is one of the basses I dream of :-), but they are so awfully rare ... :-(
Rosslyn Picton And Midge Ure
Mick Karn ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Interesting that the great Mick Karn is on the same stage as Townshend (and Bush and Collins!)
Mick could have easily have played bass for The Who.
RIP Mick
@@naxalite115 I can't see Mick in that band, not his kind of music at all. He is sorely missed.
@@RebeccaTurner-ny1xx Enteistle and Karn have very similar styles. You can notice it more on the post Keith Moon Who albums.
@@naxalite115 Fair comment.
Omg her blouse 😳
Phil Collins on drums...perfect!!
"I'LL PUT HIM ON THE WEDDING LIST!" haha love it, that girl sings her top off
Mick Karn!
Mick Karn legend 🎹🇮🇹🎹
Man, the sound levels during this performance was criminal. Kate was straining to get heard here because she is mixed down so low.
My experience as a muso and a gig-goer is that sound engineers spend gigs chatting, drinking and doing anything other than paying attention to the music and the musicians.
@@musicandfilms9956 this sounds about right
Huh?! What she was hearing via monitors and what the audience heard were two very different things. I don't hear any 'straining'. Yes, there are parts where she pushes, which is expected in this tune. And let's not forget that she was essentially a studio-only performer at this point. She did a fine job.
@@MrCherryJuice i wasnt complaining about Kate, i was complaining about her audio levels
Almost fell off my chair when I saw the line-up......!?!
*Thank you* doesn't even begin to express my gratitude for uploading this 👍
Right!? How the hell did I not know about this??
She did, in fact, work extensively with Mick Karn in the studio. You can hear his bass on a lot of her best work. Check him out on Heads We're Dancing from The Sensual World record. Before I knew who Mick Karn was I used to think that the bass on that song must have been played on a keyboard because it sounded too difficult to pull off on an actual bass guitar.
Yep.
I miss Karn.
Midge was big in the 80s, but now he is so underrated for some reason, almost forgotten... I think he should be up there with Kate and Phil, in the hall of all time greatest.
Up there?? Oh dear, no. Lol
Midge is so great. B4 I even heard Midge's music, my brother was fronting his own band, and told me his fashion influenced was Midge Ure.
@@SKYSAW59 was never a fan of ultravox or anything else Midge Ure did. However, after I heard what he did to raise money for Mick Karn’s cancer treatment, he’s a legend.
Top Man Midge!
Midge Ure has continued to do humanitarian work ever since he orchestrated Live Aid in 1985 and wrote “Do they know it’s Christmastime” in 1984 which became one the top selling songs of all time. He’s an incredibly humble and genuine person and still can belt out a great chorus.
I'm a great fan of Ure's Ultravox but I can't listen to his appalling solo work. It's bland, shallow and uninteresting.
Mick!
And there is Karn!
A God.
Has Kate ever looked hotter?
Merci ! Chaque fois que j'écoute cette Chanson je pense au film La Mariée était en Noir de François Truffaut.....et en plus le Merveilleux sourire de Pete au tout début 🙏🌟🙏
This is great! Thanks so much for uploading. I love the rawness of her voice.
Very good archive! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The original wardrobe malfunction.
❤
OH KATE .... YER SUCH A TEASE !!!!
Mick Karn!! but John Giblin (who played bass on the studio version) is no slouch either in inventiveness.
Mick karn of japan passed away too many years ago
I Stan Kate but Mick is what keeps me coming back to this clip 🔥
The queen of Prog Rock!
No one comes close 😍
3:51 Whoops!
I WOULD FALL APART ALSO IF I WERE KATES TOP !!!!!!
Mick Karn
Come home with me Kate, no strings attached.
Phil Collins on drums.
gli si è rotta una bretella ma CHE CLASSE PERO'!!!
* due bretelle
This turned my gay friend Rob straight. For one night at least.
BFL KRO
What an Accolade by his peer`s.Mick, was held in that high regard by the Rock Establishment, and no-one from our BBC/ITV ,could be bothered to turn up,just sum`s up Brit-pop,Thank God I never subscribed to that . my reading was IT(International Times ) and OZ Mag.... Townsend was right ,and 10/10 for1/ to turn up for Mick and 2/ have a Japan style suit.
Nice👏👏👏👏
What a woman!😋
Pete Townsend was "Just Doing Research". Remember that moment?
Could you explain, please?
@@JoeDonFan child po rn.just research he said .google it
Mick karn and playing at prince trust in front of prince charles and di newly weds and kate sings this fatal wedding song . Premonition😮
Poor Kate. At 3:52 in her first strap breaks, and the second follows in turn. Every performer's nightmare. But she soldiers on like the good trouper she is! Pete seems very interested tho'. ("What will break or fall off next?")
the musicians managed to finish the song without hitting any false notes. Well done.
right? lol
Consummate professional. Clearly needed more support in that area
She's a bit old for Pete, though lol
Her strap breaks on her dress at 3:54
Both her straps go AWOL, but she powers through like the professional she is.
And she doesn't flinch.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
3:52 Did she suffer a wardrobe malfunction?
Yup she did
yes
And she doesn't even miss a freaking note while her top disintergrates. Wow.
no her voice was just too strong for the strap to handle 😅
I've often wondered if this mishap was a major reason she retired from touring.
Greater Kate 👍
Reminds me of Wild West End by... Dire Straits..
Kate Bush is Lord Plek's squeeze.
The mixing was so bad on this performance. She dubbed the performance later to get a better audio.
No doubt she wanted to dub the video, too...
Pete has the doctor evil ware going...
or how about mr zombie on bass ;)
This is child's play for Pete and Phil .
You are a funny guy. She is miles beyond them in talent and originality Sussudio.
@@todd6851 You've never heard of Brand X ? BTW I love Kate !
this is the "best quality"..???
If you compare to the other ones on RUclips. Yes, best video quality.
oops !!!
Ну очень старалась девушка!! )))
Nossa, coitada!! Quase que paga peitinho no show!! E ela manteve a pose!
Didnt bother her- dancers know how to improvise.. She generously flashed the band b4 her exit.
Best Quality???? C'mon, the audio quality of this video is terrible.
It’s a recording from 1982 what do you expect?
@@Baru1994 I'd expect you'd take "best quality" down and put up something that says audio quality compromised. Let the listener know. It's horribly shocking when it first starts.
@@billshane7574 best quality doesn’t necessarily mean it’s high quality but best quality compared to the other versions online.
@@Baru1994 Not anymore. I found 2 others that had way better quality than the garbage you're referring to. And jus because something was recorded back in 1982 doesn't mean the quality will be crap.
man if you knew the scarcity of kate bush live video you would understand the value of this video.
Anyone know why Kate sings this of all of her songs? Hardly one of her best. She'd had her first three albums out by July 82 with The Dreaming around the corner. That said, it does give Mick Karn a chance to do a star-turn on the base!! What a fucking star!
Can't help feeling that she should have done either Babushka or Breathing, both songs off her last album and songs that include fretless bass for Mick, but I suppose the two axe men had something to say about that lmao.
I don't know why she chose this song, as it was obviously difficult for her to sing it in the same key as the original and arguably doesn't translate as well to a live setting, but this is definitely a highlight from Never For Ever, for me at least. It's also the second most concert-ready track form that album, as Breathing is quite a downbeat number and isn't nearly as fun as this one. And the vocal acrobatics are the end are amazing, I'm sure Kate wanted a chance to show those off live.
I love it. To me, the fantastic verse in this song is among her best work. The chorus doesnt work for me unfortunately.
Wrong. This is an excellent song and pure Bush.
I think you’re right plus not one of Kate’s best song equals most other artists best recordings
She is a god, no matter what happens, no matter what crappy players (Collins, Townsend) may be trying to cover her tunes.
willvrb2 crappy players?? Your calling Mick Karn, Phil Collins and Townshend crap? Get a grip fella ffs🤣🤣
willvrb2
Still jealous you didn't get the call to play in her band, mr. Talentless jerk???
Pete Townshend, Midge Ure, Phil Collins, Gary Brooker, Peter Hope-Evans, Dave Formula, Mick Karn sont des merdes?!?
T'es dingue! C'est le mixage qui est pourri.
@@ciscomars En effet, c'est le mixage. C'est dommage 😔
Phil would run over any one on drums he's a master of prog
Is Pete Townshend the father of Marilyn Manson? Look at his face, especially nose, cheeks and eyes, ahahah!
Peter Hope Evan’s from Medicine Head and Kate Bush on stage together, fantastic, oh and Pete Townsend. Not a fan of the bloke on drums tho!!
