The amazing thing about Julian is that he can stand there and sing an incredible song without moving, and the audience is yet so interested in the music. Some artists don't have to run around the stage to interest an audience, that's what I think is so incredible about Julian and The Strokes.
Hey is there any way you could throw all the contents of that DVD up on mediafire or something like that and send me a link? The DVDs are really rare and I've been looking for a high quality version for a while
The most influential band of a generation will always be kings because influence can't be measured, it lives on forever, and it's not subjective. The idea that they haven't made a "solid record" since '06, is subjective.
startervisions influential?? A band that lasted for maybe 5 yrs... A band that sounds like 50 other bands... A band that hasn't made any new material... The Ramones were influential!!!
armando torres Their debut album was a pretty crucial cultural and musical influence man. You go from Brittney Spears and the fucking Backstreet Boys (polished pop crap) to this rock and roll revival with skinny jeans and guitars. They influenced a whole generation man. It brought back alternative/garagy music back to a public eye. Also there are so many bands that credit them as an influence it's insane. And Yes!!! The Ramones were absolutely influential!! But it was another generation!
The Strokes: Stereotypical idea of what a Rock'N'Roll band should look and sound like. They are awesome. Need more bands like this to flood the "mainstream" and make FM radio mean something again.
This video remember me the concerts of The Doors. The way that Julian moves on the stage, his deep voice and his abscent look makes me think sometimes in Jim Morrison (also the way he spin and hit the microphone). The strokes are The Doors but in 21 century. Definitely the most important band in the last sixteen years. This music is intense and original. The first time I heard them I just think: "Fuck, I never heard nothing like that." Rock is not dead.
The voice maybe but as far as stage presence idk, Jim had a dionysian energy in his performance thats cant be reproduced without a similarly possed enthusiasm
I don't know, this comparison is a little distasteful. Julian has said that idolizing figures like Jim Morrison was very harmful to his health and self-image before he got sober. Besides, the Strokes are their own thing. Slapping a Doors comparison on them kind of falls flat, especially when you consider the fact that their catalogue has nothing in common with the Doors' sound.
@@AGrrrlsTwoSoundCents I said Julian "remember me" Jim, not "they are the same". But I think The Strokes are all the greatets names and styles of the rock in a single band. They have a litlle of The Velvet, Doors, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Nirvana, cristalyzed on Julian's band
Kingrileyofgames777 That's because he was drunk during this set and there's song about him hating the audience.
