I have a friend who said he hated the strokes but loved jack white.. Still not sure why he thought they were substantially different. Their styles are slightly different but they're in the same genre
For those who don't know, The Strokes and The White Stripes played only 4 shows together this year, 2002. They played 2 shows together in NYC where The Stripes opened, and 2 in Detroit, where The Strokes opened. I saw the NYC gigs.
I WILL definitely see The Strokes eventually, they are my favorite band. But I am a little sad that I will never see them like this... this energy is just so fucking ridiculously infectious

I was there! Legendary. There was a moment during The Strokes set where it was like, heaven on Earth. What a show. Julian broke his leg before this show - so he sang on a stool most of the night, wearing a cast!
I've seen The Strokes twice. I've also seen The Dead Weather twice. But to see Jack and The Strokes in one sitting, playing together, my brain would have most likely melted and turned to shit from the sheer awesomeness of it. Great video, thanks for sharing.
When Jack was with the Racantours touring V-fest he was doing an interview while the Strokes where playing this song. He started to air guitar this song and you can see how much he really digs it.

part 2 - Strokes are more creative (instrumental power helps) mainly because the direction they went into and the style they play in. I won't get into direction because you can just look at the timeline leading up to their debut to see how they changed it. Their style however, that's on a next level. No one since Television has been doing rock as precise and timed as the Strokes. It's their niche. They took it a step further with a futurist-vintage sound which hasn't been attempted before...
