This is actually crazy. Been listening to rock music for a long time and this is one of the few instances where a live performance sounds exactly like the record.
Remember this performance few wks after 9/11, I was 24.(most likely drunk/high) It's 7/10/2022 and without a doubt The Strokes were/are most important band after 2000....
@Elijah Finch hey, spamming people to check out your music isn't a great way to get discovered. it's just gonna make people resent you as an artist and never give you a chance.
Theyre so good. Not zeppelin or anything, but wow! Im melted by memories in my 20s. It all started with the radio song. Last night. They say ccr was on point with timing. Im old school, but who cares! These guys are a legendary band. Im makin' bad decisions. I love that song! My kids do too now. I started with their first album i ghink. Sofa king good! Then reptillia hit the waves. Wow. I really liked gretta van fleet, then i saw what they wear and shit now. Wrong!
There are several ways to do it. Most likely their sound engineer did apply compression and changed up the vocal frequencies and gain. Julian has been obsessed with replicating the sound of running vocals through a distorted solid state peavey amp since recording This is it.
to me this is a big deal, cause I lived in New York when this stokes " thing " was poppin off. I was over at Staten Island Hospital when George Harrison was there. Came to the OR. and autographed a guiter for a RN son on the cancer floor. that moment I was inspired to stop the smoking cigs. it was a big deal. can we do a concert in Wichita Kansas.
Nick valensi is an underrated all time guitarist
Pretty sure Julian wrote all parts on first couple of albums, but yeah he’s great
I gotta hand it to Albert Hammond Jr though. he doesn't just play guitar, he performs guitar
@@jjmon444 at first I thought there's no way this is true. But after some digging, it probably was.
@@karu6111he did a majority of the stuff for the 1st 3 albums i believe?
He wrote the songs retards. The guitar playing and solos are Nick Valensi. The chords and Melodie’s are Julian
This is actually crazy. Been listening to rock music for a long time and this is one of the few instances where a live performance sounds exactly like the record.
Yup, they are the masters at duplicating their recordings in their live performances.
Is This It was recorded live in one take
@@chipchunes9275 nope
@@chipchunes9275 not ONE take, but it was recorded live
Oasis was also the master of that during the 90s
listening to this isn’t enough. i need it in my veins
julian's voice here is so pure, almost the same as the original
I thought the same thing, literally sounds identical to the studio recording. So good ❤
Backing track?
@@randycunningham7318 i highly doubt, julian has a godlike voice, second only to hozier today
I remember watching this when I was 19. I was blown away. I bought the cd the next day. Thank you for the upload
I envy your generation. u guys are way cooler than us 20 year olds now.
I realize I am pretty off topic but do anybody know a good website to stream new tv shows online ?
@Romeo Zain try Flixzone. Just google for it :)
@@romeozain432 just torrent dude
Their first and best TV performance. And it was on my birthday. I think we’re the same age lol
The Strokes first TV appearance ever. This is so rare! Thank you so much for uploading ☺
So good!

Still, the best album of this century.
Yep, Is This It will always be my #1 album of all time. The New Abnormal is a close second though, I can't stop listening to it.

What a band!! Their new album is a masterpiece.
Thank God for the internet that we have this rare gem. Sounds exactly like the record!
They rock so hard it’s insane

uhh dude here them screaming like psychos before they play NOT THE CASE BUD
"One of the most talked about bands of the year"
@@meya3521 yeah true usually when a band plays on a late night show nobody cheers.
they were already huge in europe for months
In 2001 Everyone I knew were into the Strokes... haha
What a f*cking tune
Responsible for influencing so many after them, The Killers’ debut and Arctic Monkeys debut and many more.
Stokes were influenced by Velvet Underground.
I’m 71 & this is a killer song & love this band.. very reminiscent of Velvet Underground.
am 60 also a bit of Television.
the sound mixer killed this ! sounds perfect
This is the studio recording married to old footage. Have a listen.
@@malcolmmcmartin3954 That's entirely false 😂 I think you're the one who needs another listen.
Listened to this is it all night on repeat first time I heard the album. Like a breath of fresh air in rock.
THIS BAND AND ALBUM ARE A FUCKING MASTERPIECE !
Fab on 🥁 just rocking it
Their best track IMO
Julian here is like lou reed reincarnate
God, he sounds just like him. RIP Lou
I get Lou reed and jim Morrison vibes
This will always be My favorite Strokes Song Idc what anyone says
Damn, what a debut!
“Up on a hill, here’s where we begin…”
This is a gem.
How come they sound exactly like in the album 😲😱
That level of talent and pure synergy
Probably cos they’re all just amazing!!! 😍
They recorded the album almost completely live
Great job by the sound engineering tho
Because this IS the studio recording married to old footage. I can't believe nobody else has noticed.
Oh man. Conan ripped. I miss seeing this stage.
I've been watching this everyday for the last few weeks, and will continue to do so for the next few years probably.
Thanks for the upload! Great performance. Nick slays

Man Julian was supernaturally good looking when he was younger. Must have been running from women 😀
Amen... idk how he had time to make music.
I can't wait four more years
for what?
that guitar solo 😮💨

To explain the 2000's I'd show people this video. To explain the 2010's I think you show them Currents by Tame Impala on really nice speakers.

Nick valensi went off on the solo holy shit
Fun fact : Their are still original line up members for past 20 years. No changes.
How did they get that vocal compression effect live.. so cool..

In 2022, there are vocal pedals you can use if you don’t have a sound engineer who can do that for you live.
