Happy Sunday Cousins!!! Today I'm talking about slip vs. slick and showing you guys my favorite CHEAP DETANGLING conditioner since I know a lot of people wanted an alternative in the last video. Just keep in mind this is my PERSONAL preference. If there are ingredients in V05 that you don't want to use that's cool, too! ♥️
I just want to thank you!!! I went to Family Dollar and bought the Suave Sun-Ripened Strawberry Conditioner! The slip was AMAZING. I sooo easily detangled my daughter's hair and chunky braided it! It has NEVER been so easy to do while her hair was wet!
@@Mrs.Rockies I'm aware of the ingredients and honestly I don't mind that much because it's being washed out and I only use it 1 or 2 times a month. Also with a product only being a dollar, I expect it to have some questionable ingredients. But that's a risk I'm personally willing to take.
The silicone free conditioner felt weird from what I’m used to but it made my hair very easy to comb through before and after it dried up vs the silicone conditioner. Scalp was less itchy as well.
You are so smart and knowledgeable regarding slip vs slip. I noticed 3 min moisture was making me use more product on wash day as well, makes sense now it serves as a quick slick.
This definitely makes sense, but for my hair (high porosity) it seems that it likes the slick of silicones more than actual slip. I was CG for a year and a half and my wash days got longer and longer (up to 7 hours to detangle all my hair) and I could no longer wash my hair without having it in braids in the shower due to it feeling incredibly fragile as it soaked up more and more water. I was a massive product junkie and had TONS of products with loads of slip, and even though they were SUPER slippery in my hands, I still could not efficiently detangle my hair (strands would still snag on each other instead of glide). I use protein pretty often as well. I have tried a bunch of products that claimed to address high porosity hair but those just matted my hair. ACV also does not work for me. When I went back to using silicones my hair immediately became so much more manageable and I can now wash and detangle my hair IN the shower as my hair no longer soaks up too much water. I guess for me I actually need that barrier. I'm still a massive product junkie and I'm always trying out new conditioners because I liked how soft my dry hair was when I was CG but unfortunately no luck. Oh and silicones have never made my hair feel soft. It actually feels dry which is why I only use it to detangle and immediately wash it out.
So what do you use now? I have high porosity hair and it’s so hard to detangle it even using these conditioners which just makes my hands slippery and still breaking😩
Thanks for this video. I was literally getting ready to relax on Friday because I haven't found anything that gave me awesome SLIP. My hair was shedding, breaking, I believe more breakage than shedding. Yes honey thank you!! I finally feel I can continue with my natural hair game. This absorb into my low porosity hair hair and the comb just glides threw. Thank You Thank You
Yes I love me some strawberries and cream. Vo5 has the best slip for detangling but the conditioning is extremely weak. I used Aussie moist once and it wasn't moisturizing at all and no slip at all.
Tyiece really? That’s crazy. My hair always feels AMAZING after. I used to deep condition with it by adding essential oils and everything lol That orange one tho... it doesn’t do a thing for my hair lol
@@curlynella1011 because every product doesn't respond the same to everyones hair. Same thing happened with Shea moisture manuka honey mask. People was raving about it, but it matted my hair so bad. The worst DC
@@Tyiece my hair absolutely DESPISED that manuka honey mask.....made it so hard and dry. I took it back to Sally's so quick! They were surprised because like you said everyone loves it so much. Worst thing I ever tried other than the Curls Cashmere crap.
Omg I had to come back and say thank you!! I never would have thought to buy V05 I bought the same kind shown in your video and it absorbed quickly and made my hair so soft and very easy to detangle.
Thank you so much for this!!!!! I have been buying different conditioners that are made to detangle... but I realized that although my hair was soft (slick) it was super tangled!! I will be looking into the conditioner you recommended! Thank you!
Yes! I am here for healthy hair length retention tips! I’m the cousin who made the “slick” comment and I’m glad that I’m not the only one who feels that way about silicones. I’m doing a Target 🎯 run tomorrow and I’m putting VO5 conditioner on my list!
Kathrine, I wondered why my local dollar tree shelves was empty of the VO5 conditioners. I'm going to go and stock up when they just putting on the shelves thanks a bunch gurl friend!
Suave Essentials Tropical Coconut Conditioner & TRESemmé Expert Selection Perfectly Undone Conditioner are both Silicone-Free, I recently started back using them and idk why I stopped but my hair and pockets are thankful 😂
Thank you so much, I think you saved my hair. I've tried so many products and my hair was getting dry, brittle and unmanageable. One treatment with the VO5 and my hair already feels way better. The comb glides right through. ❤️ I'll now be checking everything for silicone before I put it in my hair.
Listen cousin, I’ve been in search of a detangling conditioner because so many do not do what they say. I just purchased something that I think I’m going to return and get me some VO5 instead. I just found a shampoo I like, which took forever so thanks for the tip. Now if you will excuse me cousin, I’m about to run to the store right now. Ok it’s been about an hour cousin. I returned my $9.62 product to Target and then went to Dollar General and got this product for, drumroll please, $1.07. I will be washing my hair tomorrow cousin. Thanks again. Alabamians have to stick together. 😊 Born in Enterprise, AL now living in Florida.
I use to use v05 I don't know why I stopped! Now I know why when I use certain conditioner it's hell to detangle!!thank you for this video omg. I mean in the shower crying and feeling like I'm pulling my hair out everytime it's my wash day.
Amber you are truly my cousin girl I can't thank you enough for recommending vo5 five but conditioner is absolutely wonderful I never would've known about this if it wasn't for you all this hype price product still come close to it thank you so much cousin
Wow! I never jumped on the VO5 bandwagon because I was always put off by how cheap it was, but this opened my eyes. I'm going to check it out since I go through conditioner like water! Also, I've been trying silicones again for the last 6 months and my hair just SNAPS off now. 😩
Perfect clarifying shampoo, I do a chebe routine consistently, so when it’s time to wash, I need something *skrong* The conditioner is decent, it has a 7/10 slip but it doesn’t replenish all the moisture the shampoo takes away.
I’m a new country cousin from Central Florida and I recently stumbled across your channel and promise that you have really helped me begin to “get my entire life” together in regards to taking care of CottonBall (that’s what I call my hair lol)....been natural 5 years but I feel like I’m starting over and really learning what works for me and my hair and how to really help it flourish.....currently trying to perfect my wash and go (pray for me lol) but just wanted to say I love your channel and you’re so real and inspiring 😊
I use hello hydration for solely detangling purposes. I don't expect it to moisturize or anything but I can say it provides the best slip..and that v05 strawberry milk was bae but I need gallon size in my house. Lol you're def right about aussie moist cause yea I did try it but 👎🏾👎🏾..
Ypur hair is so beautiful dear Amber. My mom of blessed memories uses VO5 and it s got slip and her hair is everything !! very Long and silky, thanks for sharing.
What was your process. Did you use the wash then leave the conditioner in then rinse. Do they have a leave in? That detangling looked great. And can you give tips on parting thick hair like yours especially in the back to plat it afterwards. Thank you
Thanks for the video even tho we don't have V05 in the Netherlands I appreciate the time explaining slipp vs slick... do you know if the aunt Jacky or the ors kids smell mild and are any good? I found them online but can't smell or get a sample version. And I'm very curious and there are not many reviews on them a few kids videos showing How To use them but not if the liked it had good slip or how they smelled. (I can't stand to much smell ) I'm searching for good affordable (read cheap) hair products that don't smell to pungent.... I was in England on Holliday and over there they have a way bigger selection of african/Asian hair products because of a bigger population of Africans and Asians. No ma'm. So I got a few tresseme botanicals and 6 bottles of herbal essence naked detox line with just soluble silicones and a much less pungent smell ( got them for 2 pounds per bottle jeej ) Also got some palmers olive oil sulfate free shampoo. This was perfect, because I was going through that same thing. My hair is almost tailbone length and I don’t have time for my curly to keep getting insanely tangled 😩. It really takes away from the joy of washing and styling my hair. Plus a lot of shampoos and conditioners make me itch ☹️. I have a lot of research to do in order to find the perfect combo. Thanks for the video ❤️.
I could not agree more, I loved hearing this take on it. I got my haircut and they used a silicone based styler. I hated it! It felt so gross and I washed my hair the very next morning to get it out. It also weighed my hair down a lot. I have to say too when I stopped using silicones i had the most horrible build up that had the grossest texture I've ever experienced when rinsing in the shower. I used sulfate free before I knew that silicones were bad and so it just built up. It's interesting to see how I got used to the natural textures from products that actually hydrated and protected my hair.
Wellllll, I LOVE me some Aussie moist but I was dealing with the tangling issue and having to add more but nowwww I know truth and I’m gonna retire it 😭 thank you for the information!!!
Hi, just found you as I was seeking natural conditioners that have slip; this VO5 stuff contains Propylene Glycol, which causes cancer. Did you know that? I also found out that with these products we cannot put them near or on our scalp. Grace and peace, c
Thank you for this info! I was aware of that but you definitely have to do what’s best for you. For me, unfortunately I don’t eat completely clean or am not able to fully monitor and limit all potential carcinogens that I ingest so I’m not extremely rigid with my hair ingredients unless it’s something I get active irritation from. But thanks for sharing and bringing this back to the top of the comments for others who may have this concern ❤️
I’ve never heard of slip vs slick! It makes so much sense though. I’m definitely picking up some VO5 so I can have a good detangling conditioner! Thanks for the video!
Yesterday, I wash my hair with a sulfate moisturizing shampoo, I tried this hair mayonise and rinse it out with cool/cold water like 20-30 min later. It was werid, I felt a *film* on my hair after rinsing, reminds me of a detangling spray I used. I was scared because, as I try to smooth my hair with the praying hands method, it felt and sounded squeaky clean and I was worried my hair was gonna break or something because it felt like I only put water in my hair, wet but not moisturized. I towel-dried and applied some leave in and twist it and today my hair feels back to normal. I'm worried that my conditioner only just smooth down my cuticles but didn't actually moisturize it or seal in moisture.
And food products arent small enough to penetrate and absorb into the hair.... this is why there are conditioners and other hair products that are small enough to penetrate
@@beaubeauknows3620 by hair mayonise, I used Originals by Africa's Best® Hair Mayonnaise Treatment For Weak, Damaged Hair. It contains organic herbs, olive oil and egg protein. It does contain soluble collagen and Cholesterol.
@@coletteguthrie2494 you know, the directions on my Hair Mayonnaise did say to "Rinse hair throughly with warm water". Maybe I would try it again to see if it makes a difference.

My daughter started UAB last year. I encouraged her to subscribe to your channel because you were actually in the city and you were mentioning places for her to buy hair products.... since you've moved to Cali, can you find the same stores/products there that you had in B'ham? Also, my daughter is still at UAB, what stores do you recommend she go to vs. NOT go to???? Thanks #cousin!😊 #bamaGirl
Thank you, Cousin for this info!!! I have been faithfully using Aussie Moist for years for my low porosity hair & wondering why my hair was also so Dryyyyyyy, Now, I need to go on an Aussie Moist detox program & get my moisture back.
I get it. I’ve only been using it as a conditioner but for the last like 6 washes I’ve use it as a leave-in. Today I could not obtained the squeaky clean hair like I normal do. I was like what is going on? Cousin you do know hair. And the last time I had like stuff falling on my clothes. That like never happens. So yea...Thanks for the best advice ever.
Alright cousin I tried that vo5 and it's bomb. Tried it in my daughter's hair and omg detangled beautifully. Got it from the 99 cents store 🤗 amazing. Thank you 😄
This video is well done and really informative. I didnt even know there was a name for products with a full ton of silicones. I just know of slip. People sleeping on VO5; it's too lit! Perfect conditioner if you're on a budget. By the way, your skin is looking flawless asf cousin!!!! Like damn looking mighty gorgeous.
I'm not sure this applies to me as my hair seems to love silicones but what you are saying is worth considering and it wouldn't hurt giving it a try as its only $1+ experiment. Thanks for the tip, I'm gonna give it a try. ❤
Are you saying that all VO5 conditioner products are curly girl friendly ? Or just the one you mentioned in the video ? I’m new to this curly girl journey ...
Hey Cuz, so for a while i was thinking of transitioning (i have healthy, full, and relatively long relaxed hair which is why i had to do some thinking, lol) and then i discovered your channel and let me tell you, you made the decision for me...lol...because you made me realize that the 'volume' i have currently isnt what i really want, not when my hair could be fuller...plus i want my curls back. i just want to know, how long exactly will it take for someone with 14inches of relaxed hair to transition? cuz i want to keep my hair long so the whole big chop ish is a no no for me (i'm currently about 4-5months post relaxer)
I think you brought up some good points. I think we should stop using "cheap" products on our tresses. Trader Joe's has good botanical based conditioner's that are inexpensive as well as Mill Creek Botanicals. Yes they cost more than Aussie or VO5 but it's so worth it!
Hey cousin, thanks for this video. I was about to buy a bottle of Aussie 3 minute last week while in Target, but something made me change my mind. I use to get that slick feeling with my ex-bae, Pantene for curls conditioner. When you know better you do better. Looking forward to more videos on length retention. ✌💜☺
Thanks as always cousin! I thought it was just me bc I never had Aussie products that worked. They were immediately hard and non moisturizing for me. 💙
Hey Cousin! I'm just seeing this video, but went and purchased the Shampoo and Conditioner (V05) the other day to do a quick wash day. Moving and all my products packed, but need to wash hair. This video is helpful tho.
Have u guys tried the Herbal Essences honey and vit b? My girls have low porosity 3c-4b it has worked amazing on both . I wet the hair let it sit while they play then I comb thru in the shower .
I love aussie! Never noticed my hair dry after. Im gonna see next time i wash. But i also have have the kiwi vo5 conditioner became my mom really liked them so it’s always in the bathroom!
I stopped using Aussie because with my hard water, I had a scum in my tub! Since it wasn’t water soluble I had to wipe that ish out of the tub! Paper towels galore. Once I saw 👀with my own eyes I wondered what it was doing to my hair. Thanks for the heads up cuzzin!
Less then 3 minutes in your address low porosity hair 😮 It is so hard for me to explain that to people. Here I am searching videos for good inexpensive detangling conditioner and wow! Great video.
I’m looking for inexpensive ones too with low porosity hair just to pre detangle my hair with I try to avoid silicones but my dc has some in it but I think I’ll make that the exception
I’m a recent subscriber. I need to look to see if you have videos for dry hair. My hair looks dry but it does have oil on it. I’m curious of what you do with yours.

You probably needed to rinse out the mayonnaise with warm water.
And food products arent small enough to penetrate and absorb into the hair.... this is why there are conditioners and other hair products that are small enough to penetrate
@@beaubeauknows3620 good point
@@beaubeauknows3620 by hair mayonise, I used Originals by Africa's Best® Hair Mayonnaise Treatment For Weak, Damaged Hair. It contains organic herbs, olive oil and egg protein. It does contain soluble collagen and Cholesterol.
@@coletteguthrie2494 you know, the directions on my Hair Mayonnaise did say to "Rinse hair throughly with warm water". Maybe I would try it again to see if it makes a difference.
Sitting here watching your awesome video while deep conditioning my hair! Thanks so much for sharing about silicons...
You had me laughing 😂😂 @ the beginning of the blog. You’ll can 😴😴😴 ON IT IF YOU WANT TOO!!!!!
Ooh Amber I didn't know you could SANGGGGG!!! Intro had me weakkk💀. No but seriously you and ur curls poppin tho. Please keep up the videos they're lit👌🏿😍😍
Thanks...I thought it was just me...Very informative...I remember V05, I will try it...
Girl, you about to have me in the Dollar Tree buying all the bottles of V05 because I didn't realize it was curly girl friendly.
Great video sis! your hair is looking fantastic, thanks for sharing🌷💕👍🏾
Estelle and Alexander thank you ♥️
What's your deep conditioner for hydration? I would love a deep conditioner that does it all. Detangle and condition
Yesss I love vo5. Found it in the house and loved it. Had no idea it was that cheap. It was super moisturizing and smelled great.
where'd you get your hair clips? they look like they work so well!
This is obviously an old video- what product exactly did you use on the slip side and what product did you use on the slick side? Thank you 😊
I'm not sure this applies to me as my hair seems to love silicones but what you are saying is worth considering and it wouldn't hurt giving it a try as its only $1+ experiment. Thanks for the tip, I'm gonna give it a try. ❤
Are you saying that all VO5 conditioner products are curly girl friendly ? Or just the one you mentioned in the video ? I’m new to this curly girl journey ...
It is curly girl friendly because it doesn't contain silicones.
Thnx gurrlll !!!
Glad to👂 that your going to bring more hair tutorials. 👏🏿 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
& I was thinking about trying Aussie moist. Good thing I haven't & now I won't. thanks cousin ☺
I just used the passion fruit vo5 conditioner today! The slip was amazing and it is silicone free!
Should people with high porosity hair also stay away from silicones? I'm new to finding healthier products for curly hair.
So you use this as a conditioner and detangler? Do you then use a deep conditioner after detangling with the vo5?
Hey my favorite cousin!!!! This worked wonders on my hair!!!! You're Amazing🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Once again, you have come through for me! Thanks so much💜
Hey cousin. I’ve tried Aussie Moist 3min miracle once, could barely get past the strong smell but my hair felt dry afterwards.
Great info cousin! I personally haven't noticed this, BUT will pay closer attention the next time I use Aussie Moist and see if I experience this!
Not related to the topic, but your lighting & video quality in this video is crazy good!! We see you!!!!
How'd you clear your skin? It looks amazing?
Thanks. Check my channel. At least two skin care videos up ♥️
@@FinallyAmber thanks, will do!
What about suave essentials conditioners? I like the aloe and water lily
The Suave Naturals line is the only ones that don't contain silicones.
Suave Essentials is what it's called now. They changed the name from suave naturals to suave essentials. Legal issues I think.
Do you have any shedding at all? I didn’t see any shed hair in your brush. I need tips!
lol I definitely have shedding! My hair sheds about the normal 50 strands per day. ♥️
Makes perfect sense 👌🏾thanks for the insight
Awesome information!! Any suggestions for a deep conditioner??
Val Val tgin conditioner is bae
Thank you Patricia👍🏾
I’m a recent subscriber. I need to look to see if you have videos for dry hair. My hair looks dry but it does have oil on it. I’m curious of what you do with yours.
It also helps to use heat when deep conditioning.
I know this video is old, but you're right! I'm going to trash my Aussie! Starting over with no sulfate and or gels or creams with glycerin .
The Cantu conditioner sits on my hair for no reason at all...I wanted to cry the day my hair became extremely dry after 5mins of it sitting ...
Ayeeee Cuzo I love your demo n Your hair is beautiful 💁🏾♀️😍🤗🤗
What are some products u suggest cuzin for frizz free hair plz and thx?
FINALLY back to hair tutorials. Praise Jesus!!!!
Curlfriend101 🤣🤣 won’t he do it.
Yes!!!! I would love tips on hair health and length retention. I need that in my life cousin!!!! Lol
umkay cousin...I ran out yesterday and bought me two bottles of vo5. since we family you know I'm going to let you know what it hit for as soon as I deep condition. (fingers crossed)
Thanks for this video! I've always describe it as a waxy feeling ... when I rinse out silicone containing conditioners. They're not for me!
Same. Love the VO5 for detangling.
I have this I was just wondering how to make it more mosturizing on my 3c/4a hair thank youuuu
I swear i love that conditioner my mom always will buy it back inna day
Please Do video of the does n don’t to retaining length
Stopped watching queen south for this 😍😍 I’m definitely going to buy this product give it a try. I suffer from a lot of frizz 😩
Oh snap! You really eff with me then lol I've been meaning to watch that show! I heard it's good! Thanks for watching, cousin!
I was just thinking about vo5. I use it in my DIY to stretch the amount of the product to be able to cover my entire head.
I learned a lot from this video. Thank you cousin!
“ They leaving you hanging baby “ 😂👌🏽
Okay ima try this cause my wash days are dreadfully
This made so much since ❤️❤️❤️ TFS!!!
