Same here. I've been so worried about applying my products when my hair is soaking wet and then my roots take forever to dry and I DREAD wash day. 😂😭😭😭 I watched the video and tried her "do" routine and MEL!!!! you're right- as usual! Also scrunching the gel in instead of applying way too much works perfectly! Thanks Mel, you're awesome 😘👍😍

Let me tell you something young lady!!!
In my almost 30 years of bi-racial existence I have NEVER gotten my curls the way they are looking today with just following your steps for the first time 😱. I came across one of your videos last week (trimming curly ends), I did that & it worked! Then this video popped up yesterday (I went to Sally and purchased the brush), did what you said & these babies are moving. Before this day I basically had one stiff curl that moved like a compacted wig where ever I turned my head 🤦🏽‍♀️. My routine is forever upgraded thanks to you 🥰🥰 thank you beautiful.

    1. Shampoo on scalp, Conditioner on mids and ends
2.Leave in conditioner (don’t apply on roots)
3.Brush the hair but don’t touch the roots and brush away from them
    4. Scrunch the gel on the hair’s surface, avoiding the roots.
    5. Leave the hair to air dry naturally and fluff it
    Additional tips:
~ please don’t use thick products , as they will weigh the hair down making it have less volume
~ please avoid putting too many products especially on the roots
~please scrunch the gel into the hair instead of applying it randomly
Thank you and have a great day/night

    Phase 1: The wash
    1. Shampoo from scalp to ends
shampoo apply on scalp reason and make sure no build up is left, use brush/combe and let the shampoo flow down to ends while washing.
    2. Conditioner from ends to scalp
don't apply conditioner directly on scalp, start from mids and ends and slowly work your way up to scalp and wash it off
    Phase 2: Product use
DO NOT use too many products with heavy ingredients, look at its viscosity or texture, it will weigh your hairs down.
DO use water based products that are thin and light weight in texture.
    Phase 3: Product Application
    1. Applying
Don't make it soking soping wet.
Do wet enough to hear the squish.
This way product will get through hair evenly and easily.
Don't apply product on the roots.
Do start on mids and ends first, make sure it's saturated, and the slowly work your way up.
    2. Brushing
    Don't brush downward
you are pulling from root and this is gonna make curls stack on each other and flourish.
Do work in vertical sections and style off of the scalp outward and up up and away.
this will create more individual curl defination instead of making them all clump together.
On top up up and away
    on sides back outwards
    3. Gel
Don't put on more, it will be harder to put on cast. This will put gel in side of the curls.
Do small amount and put it on hand and crunch it in.
If you want volume in the roots don't apply it, just apply and make cast on the outside of the curls.
Phase 4: The Air Drying Process
    1. move your hair, flip hair to both sides so it has volume but make sure it stays the way it dry so if you want alot of volume and movement in hair the move the hair around don't touch the curls.
Don't air dry if its humide out.
Phase 5: The fluff and finish
Just soften out the cast. Try to break the clump of curl while its wet or do it gently at this step to not cause frize
Fluff out the roots using fingers and do it from underneath.
Thank you for your amazing video🔥❤️

if u wanna write this down/remember:
    1. cleanse hair well (shampoo)
    2. condition - do mids/ends not too much on roots
    3. apply curl cream (start with a little product then add more as needed) - start from mids/bottom and work your way up - you know when you have enough product when you hear the squish
    4. brush bottom half of hair sideways in sections away from the scalp
    5. brush top half of hair upside down away from scalp
    6. use a little gel on palms and scrunch - add more gel if needed
    7. move hair around while drying, don't be stiff
    8. once dry, scrunch and fluff up curls

    What to DO;
    > Shampoo/cleanse scalp then apply conditioner to mids and ends first and work it through to roots.
    >Use more water based products (gels)
    >Lightly apply products, make it wet enough to hear a squish when you squeeze the hair
    >Apply product mids to ends first and then work it through to the roots
    >Brush vertically and outward/off and up away from the scalp in sections. starting with bottom clipping off the top
    >use a small amount of gel, then scrunch it into hair
    >Leave roots with least amount of product
    >When air drying, allow hair to move and get airflow. To get movement in your hair, move your hair. Can flip to get air to roots and have more volume. But not the whole time - wherever the hair drys. It will want to stay
    Get volume before it drys
    >Scrunch the cast out and fluff out the root from underneath
    DONT:
Apply conditioner directly to roots and pile it.
Use too many products with heavy ingredients (butters and oils)
Soak hair with product, no soaking dripping wet hair
Don't apply any products directly to roots
    Brush downward
A shit ton of gel (decreases volume adds more definition but weighs hair down) puts gel into the curls rather than the outside
Don't be a statue when drying
Try to get the volume after it dries

I still apply all the products but during the applying and drying process I just do it and then chill out without plopping all the time and helping define every curl.

@@Tam___ This is extremely ignorant and rude. You don't know this person to assume what their hair is like. This video, imo, still contains information anyone can use and modify to their routine.

      T. G I may be black but my curl pattern is the same as hers. I’m pretty sure this video is universal and has nothing to do with race. It seems to me that your fluffier side has more hair volume largely because of where your part is. It would be interesting to see a contrast between the two sides if you had a part down the middle. That said, I really enjoyed watching the video from beginning to end. It made me forget that I'd been looking for something entirely unrelated!

DONT apply conditioner directly on roots
DO start at mid and ends and work your way up to roots
DONT use products with heavy ingredients (esp. if your hair is fine)
DO use more water based products that are thin and lightweight in texture
DONT leave hair soaking with water (really heavy and will take longer to dry)
DO leave hair wet enough where products will get through your hair easily
DONT apply product directly on roots (way too close to the scalp and will weigh hair down)
DO rake through mids and ends, use little product at first and work up to the roots.
DONT brush downwards, you pull the curl away from the root. Curls will stack on top of eachother and not flourish
DO brush off of the scalp in vertical sections.
DONT use a lot of gel (you will have more definition, it will be harder to break the gel cast) and DONT rake through (don't put gel in the curls, put them on the outside
DO scrunch the gel into hair
DONT be a statue when airdrying hair
DO move your head around, stimulate airflow. Flip over hair to get roots dry
DONT use products to break gel cast
DO scrunch hair and soften out the curls
    👍
