    Recently returned from our trip to Australia and NZ. Our first four nights were in Port Douglas. Couldn't have imagined a more perfect place to start our trip. Fantastic weather this time of year, beautiful scenery, and you can walk everywhere in town in about 15 minutes or less
    Love it there

      Oh...how lucky were you to start your trip in port Douglas. It was a nice small town getaway and easy to walk around.
      So glad you loved it and thanks so much for sharing 😁👍

      Hi. Where are you from? I am in Port Douglas every day & some nights! If you can walk the shopping area only in 15 mins, go straight to next Olympics! 🥇Macrossan St alone on both sides will take 15 mins at quick walk. There are other Sts too!

      We are going in March and we are trying to decide between Port Douglas and Cairns. Where would you suggest to stay in Port Douglas? What did you do there? Thanks for any info!

    • @AquariusTraveller
      @AquariusTraveller  8 месяцев назад

      @@kellyellis653 Where you stay will depend on your budget - we choose the Dreamcatcher Apartments but it wasn't near town, but since we had a car, it didn't matter.
      Cairns tends to have cheaper options in accommodation but either place has there pros and cons. I have a comparison detailed on my blog that might help you out here
      aquariustraveller.com/cairns-vs-port-douglas/
      and between this video on Port Douglas and the one on Cairns posted just before it, you can find all the things to do.
      Seen as they are both only 1 hour apart, you can day trip to each! :)

      We flew into Cairns and then drove to PD. We stayed in the Mandalay Apartments in PD. Great place with a pool and a five minute walk to the beach and right near all the downtown stuff. Of course, you can walk just about anywhere in PD in about 10 minutes. I would recommend Hot Air Balloon Cairns. We did a morning trip and it was incredible. The PD wildlife refuge and rainforest tour is also incredible. And of course the reef is not far for scuba or snorkel. But just the variety of great restaurants in town are great, too. Port Douglas Pizza was a favorite for our kids. Love that place. Enjoy! @@kellyellis653

    Hi Chris. Great video with lots of options. We'll be in Port Douglas for a day as a port day on Carnival cruise in a few weeks and looking for options. Although we've done the Reef trip a few times from Cairns before we might look at doing one from Port Douglas this time for a change. Another option is Daintree to see the crocs. Thanks for putting this together.

    • @AquariusTraveller

      A cruise sounds nice and went on one forever ago... must have been 2009 maybe...lol. don't much like the tendering but like it when you can walk straight off the boat.
      The reef trips are so expensive from Port Douglas...or at least the one we went on, but was nice and had a lot of options. It's just a long trip driving to the outer reef.
      Dainteee might be more time efficient or maybe mossman gorge is you like swimming. It was freezing we we went but might be warming up
      Really appreciate the support guys..thanks.

      Yep...i like to do a full video for the day trips or places that are more involved and need more details.
      However, these complications video are watched more but some going back to the prior video as well.
      Port Douglas and cairns are only 40 mins apart so some of the stuff you can see from both too.
      Lovely area though, but need to start working on the content I took further north...getting there 😂😂
      Thanks for watching guys... have thongs settled down a bit after your hurricane ?

    Hey Chris! First off, sorry I’m so behind on watching your vids! Life has been super busy for me the last few months! Ok, now onto the video! Great guide on what to do around this area! I didn’t catch the name but the lagoon with greenish water looked so gorgeous! Can you swim in it? Yikes! Every time you show us crocodiles Im like… yikes! Lol 😂 they seem so scary to me! The sky rail looks really cool! Specially since it has a glass bottom. Beautiful beaches as always!

    • @AquariusTraveller
      @AquariusTraveller  Год назад

      No worrys at all guys, I appreciate whatever you have time for :)
      Yes, Mossman Gorge or the green lagoon is a place for swimming,. although it was freezing on our visit and we didn't have time to jump in....But it's on the list for next time!
      The Crocs can get pretty scary sometimes, but knowing where they are - it's easy to avoid.
      My friend works at Skyrail and been on it a few times over the years - A beautiful experience gliding over the rainforest and would do it again in a heartbeat :)
      Thanks for watching as always !

      Thanks for letting me know - Since we drove in and didn't have to pay this was something I found out after this video was made, when researching for my blog.
      I was surprised though, since your forced to take the bus during normal business hours to keep control of the traffic, I think it should be free.

      @someonelikeme7551 9 месяцев назад

      @@AquariusTravellercan you explain more about being forced to take the bus during business hours? We are planning to hire a car and drive up, can we drive directly to Mossman gorge or do we need to take a bus instead? Thanks

    • @AquariusTraveller
      @AquariusTraveller  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@someonelikeme7551 yes you can drive yourself from port Douglas to mossman gorge on your own. But this is only to the mossman visitor centre.
      It's just during business hours that they run a bus from the visitor centre into the gorge for swimming. You can choose to pay for the bus or return walk in for free.

    Thanks for a great video! I was wondering whether the water is warm enough in May to have a swim? Especially in all those watering hole

    • @AquariusTraveller
      @AquariusTraveller  9 месяцев назад +1

      The ocean swimming is tolerable but will get chilly after a while. I went snorkeling in May in Airlie beach this year and started shivering after about 30 minutes...it would be slightly warmer in port Douglas.
      This video was taken in August and mossman gorge was almost like stepping into ice for me... I'm sure there are some people that would swim, but not really for me.
      In May, it would be a touch warmer than what I experienced but still probably chilly.
      I hope that clarified enough for you 😁
