      Thanks Kate, maybe we'll bump into each other one day. If you're doing the Nth Qld cruise is there anything else you want to see? We're doing NQ again next Sunday - Airlie Beach, Cairns and Port Douglas and, at the moment, have nothing arranged to do so looking for suggestions.

    Thanks Rob and Ali for these recommendations. We are on the Ovation of the Seas from Brisbane in January 2023 and will be going to Airlie Beach. We wanted to do a shore excursion however the ship prices are off the planet. We really liked the look of the trike rentals. At $50 per person for 3 hours it is an absolute bargain when the ship wants $185 each for 2 hours on a Segway tour.
    We went on to Whitsunday Fun's website and booked the Trikes for 3 hours and saved ourselves $400 and get an extra hour of fun.
    Thanks again. We watch all your RUclips videos and love what you do.
    Cheers

      Hi Mike. Thanks for the comment and support. We have just got off the Carnival Luminosa with a similar itinerary. This time in Airlie Beach we went sea kayaking. We were going to do it independently but the price wasn't that different from the ship price and it was late back so we had that security. It was $149 pp on Carnival and great fun if you like kayaking. We'll be posting a video on that in the coming weeks but happy to share any other information if you're interested for another time. Enjoy the trikes though and the rest of the cruise.

    we took one of those type of tuk tuk rides in brisbane on one driver rode us from our hotel over to south bank, through the botanicaL gardens. i have no clue how he pulled my fiance and i at the time up the hills in the area, i felt terrible and kept apoligising as even though it was partially electric he was pedalling like mad. we got out on one of the hills as we were just too heavy. i weighed at the time around 90kgs and my fiance about 150kgs. we had booked online, having no clue what it really was and felt so guilty making him drive us around. even though we had prepaid i gave him a 20 dollar tip as a thank you :)

      Hi Tabitha. Thanks for watching and sorry for the delay in replying. The benefit of ship tours is that you are guaranteed not to miss the ship if it's running late and with a tour you will generally get some commentary about the area. They do tend to be a bit pricey though. If you're comfortable with exploring on your own though it might be worth considering doing something yourself. Airlie Beach is a beautiful place to just hang around. If you like kayaking though, have a look at the sea kayaking tour, that was fun. Either way, have a fantastic cruise. Which ship are you going on?

    Thanks for sharing the video. Could I ask you how long it took in terms of waiting on the ship and then moving by tender boat to the port? I'm looking at a tour which departs from the marina in the morning - just wondering if I would make it on time.

    • @robandalicruisetravel
      @robandalicruisetravel  2 года назад

      Hi Chris. We got the tickets went to the buffet for a quick breakfast, then up onto the top deck for some photos and were called. At Airlie Beach the process is pretty quick as they use a couple of the reef cats as well as their own tender boats so they can transport a lot of people in a reasonably short space of time. The cats are a bit quicker than the tenders and probably take between 15 and 20 mins from ship to shore. Tenders maybe 20-25 mins. Obviously experience can differ from cruise to cruise but Airlie is certainly one of the quickest transfer that we have done on a few occasions now because of the assistance of the reef cats.

      @@robandalicruisetravel Thanks a lot for your reply. That's very useful information. Our ship (Quantum) arrives at 7am and I'm eyeing a tour that needs check-in at about 8:15am - so we may be able to take the tour based on your info. As you said, times may differ from cruise to cruise. Thanks again and all the best for your future travels.

    Be careful where you park in Airlie Beach as car parking scams are rampant. There is a vacant block of land behind Woolworths where people park when the Woolworths car park is full. However the land is owned by Magnums and you will be fined if you park here. Very poor signage if any indicating that it's private land and many cars parked here. There's a large car park at Coral Sea Marina at Shingly Beach, we parked here and paid but we're fined $90. When we questioned the fine we were informed that there are actually two separate car parks and we had parked in the wrong one. There is no discernable difference in the car parks and it just looks like one big car park. Absolute scams and won't be back to Airlie Beach.

    Can someone tell me how Carnival Splendor goes to ashore in cairns, docked or tendered? Because this will be two different locations. Thanks!

    • @robandalicruisetravel
      @robandalicruisetravel  Год назад

      Hi Min. Carnival Splendor should be able to dock in Cairns as the dock is big enough to take ships bigger than the Splendor. Sometimes, though, the itinerary will say Cairns but the ship actually goes to Yorkey's Knob which is just a bit further north than Cairns. At Yorkey's Knob there is no dock so they use tender boats. Hope this helps.
