As I’m nearing the end of my career due to injury, I couldn’t help but return to this video. It almost gave me comfort in knowing I wasn’t alone in the struggle and climb to make it to the top. The game truly did shape who I am today and I met some amazing lifelong friends as well. I don’t regret a single minute I spent. To those still striving for the top, I hope you work as hard as you can to fulfill your dreams. I’ll be watching in the stands.
My brother played 4 seasons in the minors back in the 80s . He made it to the AA Chattanooga Lookouts in the Reds organization and he injured his shoulder and had to retire. He was an outstanding outfielder and a good line drive hitter and we really believed he was going to play for the Reds one day. It took him a couple years to finally admit to himself that his career was over. He was doing well, hitting .310 and driving in runs when he hurt his shoulder on a play in the outfield. . He played with Eric Davis for awhile . Everyone there was in awe of Eric Davis , but he wasn't there long because he was a one in a million talent
All these guys sound like they are doing for the right reason. For the love of the game.I played in high school.I was a pitcher. I found out pretty quickly after doing try outs for a local team that I needed to go find a job. My fastball that would strike out high school kids...wound up over the wall with real hitters.
I give props to all these guys I played d1 and after college wish I would of be more driven to travel to open tryouts. Best luck to every one tryna make it in life somehow
Wanted to say to all players facing adversity. If this is your dream to play pro ball. DO NOT let 1 coach break your spirit! As a coach each one see talent differently. Most high school coaches have no clue anyway other than to play their friends kids 1st! Very political, all along while sitting a true ball player! Stay strong continue the grind!
man where were you 7 years ago when i was in highschool… amen bro guys do not like anybody ruin the game of baseball for you, be the best you can be and don’t let anyone tell u otherwise!
that guy kendall zachery has a good head on his shoulders. its never too late. one name always comes to mind... Jim Morris!! you know the guy who made his mlb debut in his mid 30s!
I'm almost 22 I'm still young enough to play. Wouldn't mind playing independant baseball. If things went the way I wanted I would have probably played baseball. Always dreamed of making it to the show and breaking the home run record.
Man, I wish people (my family included) , especially if they have enough money and/or a home to live in while they train, would consider taking a run at being a high-level baseball player, say, after high school, instead of automatically going the route of "Well, now you're 18, now you have to go to college and get a real job because it's not like you're going to be Barry Bonds"....I don't know how good I could've been as a baseball player, because...wait for it...I never WAS a baseball player -I mean, sure, I played on some teams and even made some league all-star teams and stuff, but how much did I really get to practice? I never WAS a baseball player, and by that I mean, getting up at 6am to hit the weight room, then follow that up with 150 practice reps in the cage, then follow that up with some fielding/throwing training, then eat some quality food, maybe a nap or some cardio before training again either in the gym or some more batting practice, etc. Are you kidding me? Doing that shit every single day for like, say, a year or two? Who knows how strong I'd get and good at hitting a baseball -not saying Major Leagues level, but college? Yeah maybe. Semi-pro, maybe play in some leagues in different countries?
It’s better to have loved and lost than never loved at all? You don’t want to regret not having tried? Love the green/maroon uniforms, never seen that colour…sorry COLOR combination ANYWHERE in any sport? I quit playing baseball in 1987...started again in 2017! Admittedly at the lowest rec level but I'm still a ballplayer at heart.
Disc golf is a sport one can go pro in if they have a good and accurate arm, just cant catch for shit. Look into it folks, it is not easy by any means but all that accuracy and arm strength practice would no longer be for not. Still need a job though and there is not many fortune 500 sponsors.

This was tough to watch, I feel the pain those guys felt. Think about it practically every day. I love the game of baseball but man can it hurt.
Don't give up !! If you feel that strong about the game. God gave you the gift to play baseball . Keep playing !!
Give up you suck.

That ending is such a gut punch. Really puts it into perspective how hard it is to make it to pro-ball. Hope these players are still playing today

road to the big leagues is probably the toughest thing in life
+yaseer memo you have a chance to win the lottery before you sign a baseball contract.
+Kerwyn Jones No you don't lmfao.
***** Of course it is. Football is mostly played in the us or Canada. Baseball is played world wide.
+Skoorb Brooks well it has its odds
The odds are a million to one to make it to the show.
Lottery is alot worse odds then that lol
every time i watch this it makes me want to play pro ball even more
Jay D he's probably better than you
Don’t let anyone down you. Keep grinding. Grind harder everyday
welp now im 25 years old, a 5 year Army veteran, and going to pro tryouts this spring and summer because its right now or never
