I’m 37 and not fished in about 15years and your vids are giving me the taste again I’ll have to start building up my gear again and getting out there, love the vids bro
Having colour in the water is better for fishing? If its gin clear, they are more likely to see everything, especially when the sun is shining on your line in the water.
Not everyone is blessed with a canal , I live In a area were the nearest canal is 100+ miles away , I'm sitting here itching for the season to start as all I have is rivers to fish 😂
Every vid you do just cheers me up no end chris.ive just lost my father in law week last sunday but watching your vids cheers me up so much 💯% respect to u
Great video as usual! Keep doing what you doing, nice to see your channel growing, there is obvious reason it's probably one of the best if not the best fishing content channel in UK. Regards from Bedford!
You have truly one of the best fishing channels! Not the super duper record fishing but "just" having a good time in the nature in a very careful way. Based on your recommedation I have bought myself an Abu Garcia Carabus Nano (CNA 612 ULS MGS version - its the best UL fishing rod for trout and perch in small creeks I ever have owned. Thanks!) 🤘🤘
Haha, that sort of race with the boat was hilarious and kept the tension up 😂 Also loved the drone reconing and drone footage, very entertaining nice work keep it up man :)
I've had other BPM baits ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 before and they've pretty much always came through for me with the suskie smallies here and even with the walleye and pike, but I realized I didn't have an "in-between" pattern so this junebug one fills that role in no problem. it pairs up magnificently with a junebug Zoom Z-craw Jr that was trimmed a couple millimeters before the hook slots and rigged sideways for that fatter panfish side profile while still being a nice'n'compact presentation, a real power-finesse bait. Hell, it was so pretty I even bothered to fotosketch the pic into a watercolor painting image just to show you it's beauty! Even the blades are really well made, sure, they're not of Hildebrandt-level exquisiteness but look at the bead's reflection on the colorado blade, definitely well-made! The only "problem" spot it had was a bald spot in the skirt but it was nothing that I couldn't easily fix with a but of tuggin'n'shiftin' with the strands for a couple of seconds, besides that it is pretty minty!
Great video; it looked like a lot of fun. My canal’s a bit grubby and there’s a lot of boat traffic. As Phil said, a video with a few tips on fishing these kind of waters would be much appreciated.
The rod you are using is unique mate! As a fisherman from Eastern Europe I have the cheaper version the Carabus Delicate but I recently broke its tip 😢 Sadly its really pricey but the feeling when a fish is touching the lure is irreplaceable. I guess I will try gathering cash for the Nano one day also. Good luck and keep it up with the cool videos
Ive got both the solid tip and tubular tip versions of the Abu Garcia Carabus nano rods and love them both . The amount of bend you get from the smallest of perch is amazing !!! Its like having a monster on the end of your line every time . The fun is endless . I use 0.12mm to 0.14mm fluorocarbon mainline on mine max . 2.5lb - 3.5lb braid even better with a fluorocarbon leader . With rods like these its amazing how light you can go with a loose drag and the size of fish you can bring in . Love mine and would never part with them .
Even tho 120k subs is awesome I can’t can’t for the life of me understand how you ain’t hit the million the fishing and camera work is amazing …… favourite fishing channel by far …….
Just found your channel through my brother. Been watching alot of your content. Awesome content and will continue now to be an avid viewer. All the best mate 👍🤗👍
Absolutely love your videos buddy, you've helped me on my journey back into fishing, I think I need it mentally lately. My new rod just turned up, now I have to wait for all the other bits itching to get out!!
Good job. Great to see you catch non predatory species on a lure.I was hoping you'd catch a Carp, like they do in Australia. Targeting Carp on lures would be a good challenge.
Battle against the boat , race against time.. deploy the drone... Interesting challenge demo.... lovely colours on all those fish... Good bream juggling...but what about the mighty elephants of the canal savannah??on that rod ..on any rod...
It is funny. I almost only fish for carp and big pike now in Germany, when fishing throughout my life in the UK and here I have caught carp of all sizes on small pike dead baits like dead roach etc when pike fishing and I have caught pike on colourful pop ups when fishing for carp!! It is not often but funny when it happens. I must admit now I am growing older (as we all sadly do) I am starting to want to get out and go back to old ways which started my passion for fishing, roach, tench, perch, eels, bream and so on and roaming long water stretches and canals etc rather than chasing monster carp and pike all of the time, these videos sure confirm that its a change I will make soon, I miss these times
The drone footage of the chub was just amazing, great video. Coming from a sea fishing background and doing a bit of lrf where braid is king, what are the benefits of using the 4lb fluoro as a mainline please?
you dont have to tie on a flouro leader everytime you fish like you do with braid. ive swapped to flouro main on light setups and its a massive time saver
Awesome fishing challenge man, loved it👀, canal boats are so nice looking too👍! Your attitude and the vibe are the best, keep on doing what you are doing, eventually you will end up being one of the most watched fishing bloggers, I'm sure 💯! Got new sub here from Kazakhstan, I also do fishing an filming here locally! Will be learning from you on how to do it properly😉😁🤝💪👍👋
Great video as always pal 👍 A video that I would find helpful would be on the do's and dont's of canal & river fishing, where you can & can't fish and what you need to do so, ie providing you have a rod licence can you fish any canals and river stretches that aren't club owned, do you need any ticket, do you fish on a club ticket? Etc.. It can get a little confusing and I'd like to know what you can and can't do in these regards! Ta. Keep up the great vids
Tbh mate i just fish and if its members only play dumb and move off. the problem is the uk isnt designed for lure fishing as you will walk through 4 different club owned bits of canal in one session so youd need to buy 20 quids worth of day tickets lol.
You are so lucky with all that crystal clear water near you. You just cast your bait close to where you can see the fish and bingo! No such luck in most parts of The Netherlands.
Great video. many, many decades ago when I took up fly fishing _(I even caught a 6lb Bluebottle once! 🤣☺😅)_ to practice my casting, I used to go to the bottom of my parents garden and fish the warwickshire avon. Dace were really, really fast on a dry fly. You almost had to use intuition when striking. i.e. You'd strike before you saw them take it. If not, they'd be on and off before you knew what happened. Chub and Perch on lures or a large dry fly like a daddy long legs was fun and for Bream, I used to go to the sunken line with a fresh water shrimp pattern slowly along the bottom.
@gingerfisherman I think you should do as many species on the fly. Get a weight and length of rod that will cover it all. Even pike!! Be a great video. Fly and tippet can change.
Here's a challenge for you. Try the same thing on our stretch of the Leeds and Liverpool. Sadly it's nothing like wherever that beautiful stretch is. Beers are on me if you can catch the same number of species as you did here 😊
You certainly have a gift with the fish. I'm beginning to think peoples body odour either attracts or repels the fish who can smell it on your tackle after you've been handling it. Just a theory I have. Thoughts anyone?!
If thats true then i definitely repel them, i might have to start using rubber gloves. And if its true Chris could make a fortune selling bottled sweat xD
Awesome video Chris i was really rooting for you to get the tench. Would be cool to see if you could catch carp on a lure, I've caught them on ESP Zig Bugs before but never on a moving lure
So, in the US "bream" is the southern US term for the small fish that we in the middle and northern US call "bluegill" (sometimes "bream" is generic for all small sunfish), but the "bream" you caught is a different fish entirely. Does it have another name?
I like how I have been fishing at this one pond for like a year(it's one of only two spots I can fish near me) and have only caught two pike and blue gill! While you on the other hand in one day catch 4 or more species!
I appreciate that coloured water is sometimes better, but I’ve literally never seen a fish in my local canal ever,it’s like fishing in pea soup all year boats or No boats,it was clear years ago but it’s been filled with sewage and agricultural waste.luckily there is some decent ponds and lakes nearby, but I do miss being able to fish the canal
G'day Ginger. Nice challenge filled. What I would like to see is you and other self filming fishermen do, is put a polarising lens cover on your camera, so that we can see the fish in the water as well. Is this possible?
What area is the canals you fish the water is nice and clear .. and you seem to have plenty of different species.. mostly skimmer, roach ,perch -pike near me no chub / Rudd / tench / around by mine
Funny thing here in Australia they call European perch red fin and they recon they're good eating and there's no restrictions because they are a feral and if you are caught returning a carp to the water there's a $1000 fine
Ciao seguo sempre i tuoi video con interesse.Posso chiederti che modello di canna carabus usi e che sezione filo o tracciato usi nel mulinello? Ti ringrazio anticipatamente..
Im loving your vids. They've inspired me to get off the big welsh lakes and come back to basics. Im on the Llangollen Canal again and fishing a semi ultra light setup. Question, do you tie your lures straight to your braid or use a leader?
Hello Ginger Fisherman! Ive been wanting to get back into fishing (mainly fly fishing) and i was just wondering, can you explain the rules about fishing rivers and streams in the country side? I am aware of requiring a fishing license but Gov rules sometimes confuse me
I’m 37 and not fished in about 15years and your vids are giving me the taste again I’ll have to start building up my gear again and getting out there, love the vids bro
Not everyone is blessed with gin clear canals, could you do a video on fishing cloudy canals 😉👍🏴
Agreed.
Fuck mate should see ours in Scotland then🤣🤣🤣 fkin pish🤣🤣🤣
I definitely need that video!!
😎🎣🐟

Racing against time and narrow boats there Chris. A very enjoyable video

I love the respect you give the fish chris 👍👏👏👏
Great video as always! We are too obsessed with PBs, so how about an anti pb challenge! See what the smallest of each species is that you can catch!
What a fantastic stretch of canal. Quality and variety of fish. Another excellent video
Great video; it looked like a lot of fun. My canal’s a bit grubby and there’s a lot of boat traffic. As Phil said, a video with a few tips on fishing these kind of waters would be much appreciated.

Time, the fish themselves and a boat!! Epic vid lad.

G'day Chris, you did well loved the Bream and Perch . All the best form down under mate 👍🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Just found your channel through my brother. Been watching alot of your content. Awesome content and will continue now to be an avid viewer. All the best mate 👍🤗👍
Awesome fishing bro! 🔥 Canals are still quite tough! But we keep on grinding! 🎣🤘
Absolutely love your videos buddy, you've helped me on my journey back into fishing, I think I need it mentally lately. My new rod just turned up, now I have to wait for all the other bits itching to get out!!
So the tungsten on a normal hook got me experimenting a lot 😂 thanks for the great tip bud, love the content as always ❤
"I'll see how long before the Mrs calls, say about 6 hours"..... 6 hours shes a keeper mate!😂😂
Great video, fun to watch and great to what you can catch with this tiny lure. Thanks!
Good job. Great to see you catch non predatory species on a lure.I was hoping you'd catch a Carp, like they do in Australia. Targeting Carp on lures would be a good challenge.
Cracking video! 🙂 Have blanked the last 3 sessions so its nice to see some fish!
Another weird homemade bait challenge, be wicked to see you go for zander on lures also
Battle against the boat , race against time.. deploy the drone... Interesting challenge demo.... lovely colours on all those fish... Good bream juggling...but what about the mighty elephants of the canal savannah??on that rod ..on any rod...

I like this kind of fishing, I mean, light lures and canals/small rivers.
Take care!
Great video as always pal 👍

Love the videos and passion, thank you for the content. People catch barbel on flies would love to see you catch one on a lure when season opens
That’s a great idea. Tiny creature baits or even gulp worms would get them I’m sure.
Congratulations on being in love with another man
@gingerfisherman I think you should do as many species on the fly. Get a weight and length of rod that will cover it all. Even pike!! Be a great video. Fly and tippet can change.
Sehr coole Idee, ein Köder für so viele Fische wie es geht. Hat Spaß gemacht zuzuschauen, danke dafür!
Grüße aus dem Münsterland in Germany 👋
Keep it up, loving the content!
Thoroughly enjoyed that mate. Will be getting a light jig species match on the go with my pals on our canal Jun 16th
Excellent footage, thanks for sharing.
We have Creek Chubs here in Kentucky. Not near as big, but they're a really oily fish and they make great Catfish bait.
literally just ordered 3 lots of these lures, mint video such an eye opener
cheers
Another lovely video Chris, you do have some beautiful places to fish.
Great session chris..please let me know what sun glasses you have may give me an edge when needed. Cheers.....
Great video and ideas...love your videos pal
Great vid!
Although I came here expecting a video about lures but got one about lores instead!!
😜
Superb video , well done Chris
Here's a challenge for you. Try the same thing on our stretch of the Leeds and Liverpool. Sadly it's nothing like wherever that beautiful stretch is. Beers are on me if you can catch the same number of species as you did here 😊

When the rivers are open could you fish a bit of the river rother
At the first part, i thought,,,, i think i know where that is. Then as you went past Aida i knew where you were. Lol. Sailed it last year in my boat.
I like how I have been fishing at this one pond for like a year(it's one of only two spots I can fish near me) and have only caught two pike and blue gill! While you on the other hand in one day catch 4 or more species!
use dead bait on the bottom lightly suspending
@@simonduersteler8251 I have once used live minnows and I was getting non-stop bites but back then I did not know how to set the hook.
Great video. I'll give it a try when I go to Ireland again.
how did u get the hook out of the rudd mouth? fishing more now but still find deeper hooks intimidating
Spot on again pal as usual.
Try out small white grub we use in Ireland catch all here with them con from Ireland.😊
Well done mate, a great effort.
Great camera work Chris 👍
Carp on lures!
Last river season I had
Barbel, chub, perch and pike on one lure\one day.
G'day Ginger. Nice challenge filled. What I would like to see is you and other self filming fishermen do, is put a polarising lens cover on your camera, so that we can see the fish in the water as well. Is this possible?
dude your canal looks like a river, looks so clean. Grand Union near me looks like shite lol.
Im near the Oxford, same shite
Awesome as ever, cheers Chris.
Nice selection of fish. You always worry me wobbling along on your bike filming. Have ever ended up in the canal?
Brilliant video as usual Chris! What hooks are you using please bud?
Hello from france , great video 👏👍
Another great video Chris thanks for sharing 😅
Epic as always mate ❤
i have literally just got back from a canel session doing the same thing i had nothing lol
Top Video Chris!!
What area is the canals you fish the water is nice and clear .. and you seem to have plenty of different species.. mostly skimmer, roach ,perch -pike near me no chub / Rudd / tench / around by mine
Chris after that vid the next obvious challenge is a tench on a lure 😁
Now the shrooms and the frog make sense lol
My local canal in the grand union. It’s almost impossible to find an area that isn’t being churned up at least once every hour. Almost always more 😂
Awesome stuff dude, why not give multispecies fly fishing a go? Might have to head up myself soon to fish it with flies
Very entertaining .
Cracking vid mate.
Funny thing here in Australia they call European perch red fin and they recon they're good eating and there's no restrictions because they are a feral and if you are caught returning a carp to the water there's a $1000 fine
love the line rating on 0.8 lol where u get such big spools of flouro
Lovin the toad and shrooms ink 😉
Ciao seguo sempre i tuoi video con interesse.Posso chiederti che modello di canna carabus usi e che sezione filo o tracciato usi nel mulinello? Ti ringrazio anticipatamente..
Very nice video. What you used for wheight on the hook ?
Im loving your vids. They've inspired me to get off the big welsh lakes and come back to basics. Im on the Llangollen Canal again and fishing a semi ultra light setup. Question, do you tie your lures straight to your braid or use a leader?
You love easy
I never knew that Rudd, Tench and Bream would strike a lure.
Youre a magician Chris ,🎩if you put a creature bait in the hat im sure you would catch a rabbit fish !!
Lots of fun 😊
Hello Ginger Fisherman!
Ive been wanting to get back into fishing (mainly fly fishing) and i was just wondering, can you explain the rules about fishing rivers and streams in the country side? I am aware of requiring a fishing license but Gov rules sometimes confuse me
Most of our fish species get a bit more piscivorous in spring, a small dead minnow, freelined, was a favourite of mine on our local river
Great vid 👍How much does it cost me and my son to fish the canals?
Great video as usual, can you please post a link to the Hook and paste you use?
Treasure that canal - I doubt there is another in such a healthy state in the rest of the UK!
I'm in need of a decent net magnet! Where did you get yours Chris
Is there much difference between using a 4lb braid or a 4lb fluorocarbon as mainline?
Remember watching the fishing race 1975-76? Think I was the 1st fishing tv series
Awesome as ever Chris very enjoyable thank you👍✌️💯
