Out of the 33 years of Mr. Letterman's interviews, I still think "Now it's kinda like a truck" is the best-unexpected line in TV history. It is bizarre absolutely bizarre. I love it.
They say if you wanna be a writer, write about what you know. Although technically that would depend on the individual. A smart or talented writer can write about anything.
Mike Judge is a fascinating guy. I’ve listened to a lot of his interviews on RUclips and Podcasts. Also, his commencement speech at UCSD where he graduated from with a degree in physics. I admire how he had a future in front of him that would lead him to success but unhappiness and he choose not to settle for less. Instead he left his job at Silicon Valley and began animating.
It is a shame that this kind of interview is so rare: directors and writers are the people behind creating an actual cultural code of any generation. And it is so painfully short. Thanks for posting anyway! P.S.: Dave's laughter here is at his Norm McDonald level)))
Dude has a degree in Physics, played Bass with Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets, made an iconic series of Cartoons, does music history deep dives, creates wonderful TV series, made Idiocracy which is probably the most prescient satire of 21st century, Office Space another cult classic... Just an unbelievable talented smart person. BTW, he will never admit it but Beavis and Butthead are based on Anson Funderburgh and Doyle Bramhall.
Way back when, Mike was the bass player for the blues band Anson Funderburgh & the Rockets. He's on at least a couple of the albums they recorded for Black Top Records.
@@iket.9930 Having spoken with Anson Funderburgh a time or two, I have to conclude that the character of Boomhauer on King of the Hill is based on him. Both short guys, pompadour haircuts, hard to understand when they talk...yup, it fits.

I think this is my first time seeing Mike Judge. I'd no doubt have walked past him in the street alright, but wow, the voice, you can hear the characters. Thanks for uploading Mr. Letterman 🎉
I had a scratch and sniff one of a dumpster lol or was it their messy bedroom lol idk maybe both, it was so long ago, but it stunk hahaha understandably
I was in the audience for this....the only time I ever went to dave....I remember they had this Christmas song performer.... and no joke they played it 10 times....before the show during breaks and live for the show
Here's a fan request: circa early 90s interview with a spelling bee champion. Dave had a great zinger that was something like "Can you spell 'attitude adjustment'?"
Most gut-wrenchingly uproarious idiocy of its time. Ding-dong Ditch, The Mall w/ the fountain thing (technical term), and most anything dealing with Van Driessen or Mr. Wilson.
Mike Judge used Beavis and Butthead to introduce the world to Ween who inspired Stephen Hillenburg to create Spongebog so in a round about way, Spongebob (among many other great things) exists because of Mike Judge
When Chuck Older died, I was honored to have a commemorative image I created in his honor sent to his widow. In addition to being a Marine, and and AVG and USAAF pilot, the Honorable Charles H. Older was the Presiding judge at the Manson trial. He was also my first hero. Rest in Peace Chuck.
Mike Judge is a comedic genius, and Dave certainly recognized that.
I Love How Mike Judge Makes David Letterman Laugh So Hard at Times😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Kelly Robin Wilcoxen next, please!
Fun fact: David Letterman’s is the voice of Butthead’s father in Beavis and Butthead Do America.
@@MacStackingWins Some People Who Are Beavis and Butthead Fans Like Me Don’t Want That Fact!
Well said!
I’m 62 and still laugh at Beavis & Butthead!! 😂😂
Likewise
I'm 66 and I do too.
70 here.
64 here!
Pretty one trick.

Yeah, I'm riding w/ ya on that one.
Letterman loved it too
@@kevinc5771 Yeah, he really cracked up at that. You're doing pretty good to get a sincere laugh from Dave like that.
Everyone in B&B was someone from my childhood. I was hooked from the beginning.
@@jklstewartI wasnt sure if that laugh was sincere.
I like how he integrated the neighbor and thin walls story into Office Space.
Youre right, I dont know how I didnt see that
Profound!
Peter man turn on channel nine, it's the breast exam!

That's where I thought that story was going! 😆
One of the absolute greatest writer/directors to have ever existed. Office Space and Idiocracy are some of the most brilliant satires ever filmed.
Silicon Valley (now streaming on Max) is an excellent series, too.
This lead to a wonderful relationship between the two. No surprise Dave ended up in the first Beavis and Butthead movie.
Thank you Mike for a great comedy. And you too letterman for sharing in that fun. You're both great.

This type of comedy is right up Dave's alley.

Mike Judge is a very smart man..
his film Office Space is a cult classic.
He's a smart man indeed, he graduated with a bachelors degree in physics.
And every year his film Idiocracy seems to come closer and closer to being a documentary.
Office Space Is solid gold!!!
@@lowboy1one1 100%.😎
Not sure if I ever seen Dave laugh as hard as he did at 3:42
Oh yeah.... listening to Norm MacDonald tell Bob Uecker stories. He was doubled over his desk.
@@bossfan49 I heard Norm & Artie tell those on the Stern show.
Yup just Norm would do it also, but I think this one really surprised Dave lol

I love the laugh of mr Letterman
Letterman could easily be the 3rd friend of Bevis & Butthead.
I think this is my first time seeing Mike Judge. I'd no doubt have walked past him in the street alright, but wow, the voice, you can hear the characters.
Thanks for uploading Mr. Letterman 🎉
heee heee... laughing all the way to the bank!!!
Thanks for all of the years of golden entertainment... uh huh uh!
i knew there had to be a Albuquerque connection to B&B.. every time i watch it i feel i'm watching something connected to Breaking Bad
Huhhuhh...I am the one who farts
Badger, Skinny and Combo had some inspiration from B&B no doubt
Mike Judge in a way resembles his creations, I mean this in a good way. Those cartoons are amazingly funny to this day!
It's not the same shape, but he has Butthead's hair and his natural laugh kind of sounds like Butthead.
Father and Son together, aka Butthead and his father.
Top 3 reasons why Dave is a legend. He likes the work of Mike Judge, Seth MacFarlane and Matt Groening! 🥰
South Park also belongs in this list!
It doesn't get any better than this. ❤❤❤
Dave is so amazing
Office space is a top 3 comedy of the 90's... Will be remembered for generations!
I had like 3 binders full of Beavis and Butthead trading cards lol
I had a scratch and sniff one of a dumpster lol or was it their messy bedroom lol idk maybe both, it was so long ago, but it stunk hahaha understandably
I remember watching this when it was first broadcast. I had never forgotten this segment, and it's great to see it all over again!
Mike knows how to make great laughs out of what seems like incredibly simple humor.
Now, that's funny. Dave, thanks for introducing the world to Mike Judge. Also, thanks for introducing the world to Beavis and Butthead.
"uuh huh-huh..now it's like a truck"
I haven't seen a lot of letterman. But I feel like he's laughing harder here than in most interviews I've seen.
“Huhuhuhuhuh… now it’s like a truck.”
You would not believe how often I think about "...now it's like a truck", still 30 years later.
I was in the audience for this....the only time I ever went to dave....I remember they had this Christmas song performer.... and no joke they played it 10 times....before the show during breaks and live for the show
Great cartoon. I Love all the episodes. Hilarious.

Beavis and Butthead fan for life! 🤟
😂 Well he wasn't lying about that 78 Nova🚘
That was cool.
I'm also a very big Ozzy fan so I would of turned around also
We need to talk about your flair.
The genius, himself
That was one hell of a complement
Love that Letterman was enough of a fan that despite his massive popularity he still agreed to do voice work in Beavis and Butthead Do America.
Letterman obviously know what's funny. The new Beavis and Butthead's are awesome. Mike Judge has not run out of ideas for scripts.
OMG Time fly's .. Can't believe this is 30 years ago
Mike Judge Presents: Tales from the tour bus is good also
I grew up with two guys who were literally Beavis & Butthead. Shocked to see it the first time, it was like they had come to life in a cartoon
Hill of the king!
he's got johnny depps face on hunter s thompsons head.
This is what Mike Judge looked like in his prime btw
God, I miss the late 90s.
This could be how Earl Hofert got a job in that Beavis and Butthead movie.
It's Earl Hofert
Awesome…. Eh he he eh he he
later he was a real stickler for flair

Mike talks just like Mark Tremonti
Who could have imagined that Mike Judge would have predicted Gym Jordan and Matt Gaetz.
Mike Judge was prophetic with the movie "Idiocracy." We're there, folks.
Mike Judge is a genius.
I was in High School when that show came out

Settle down Beavis
Letterman could eat a sandwich through a squash racket.
All I hear is Hank Hill.
One hundred million dollars in merchandise worldwide and one dude gets sentenced over providing free Beavis spray paint art on sterile city property

Hey
I love voice actors, did Dave ever interview Billy West?
Mike Judge with hair doesn't look right lol

It would be funny if Mike Judge sued NBC over that Saturday Night Live skit
What would be funny about that? (also, I don't think he'd have a case given the nature of the show)
Satire is generally accepted to be free from lawsuits over copyright.
When Judge did Butthead at the beginning, why are the idiots in the audience screaming and yelling?
