Did you know that “Earth Song” actually does not have a lyrical chorus because Michael wanted to do a chorus that anyone around the world no matter what language they spoke understood so the chorus goes like “Aaaaaaaaa aa oh ooh oooh” it’s a chorus not to be understood by words but rather felt and understood you can hear it’s a pleading, sadness and calling for our bleeding planet. Such a great message that unfortunately still is relevant today of protecting our beautiful earth

Such a powerful message in this song. Knowing this song was released in 1995 and that we face the same issues today. Hope we can save the world... we can only try and care for it, like it has cared for us over the years. I agree with Sams interpretation, too. MJ was a unique artist and is very much missed.

Meanwhile, MJ sings "What about death again" reminding listeners to think about their eternal death, asking people to check their heart for repentance, or to see if they really ever cared.)

In the last 100 years we have destroyed more of the ecosystem and earth than in the thousands of years combined. And we continue. The best that could happen to this planet is if humanity vanishes. Don't get me wrong. Of course I don't want that. But for the eco-system humanity is poisen.

I’ll join the chorus - Man in the Mirror (what I would argue is his single greatest song) and Heal the World should be on the list for what’s next. I’m also a big fan of Cry, an often overlooked song he did on Invincible. Meanwhile, this is a very deep song, Michael very much singing more about beliefs and values he held as much as the popular songs he cut his teeth and made his bones on. What a talent.

What other musician ever could write a hit song and at the same time bringing up such important topics, the video is amazing and the song has stood the test of time and will be relevant in 100 years (sadly)! When rehearsing for MJ's "This is it" tour (came out in a documentary), this was the last song they rehearsed before everyone went home and a few hours later Michael Jackson would be deceased. I watched Conrad Murray's trial and crime scene photos were shown. You can see Michael Jackson's orange and black outfit on the bathroom floor that he wore to rehearsal that day. I can't watch "This Is It" the same anymore.

Thanks for this one. There's a scary chance that humans will be extinct in 100 years. The best time to act was 50 years ago. The second best time to act is today. Perhaps in millions of years the insect people will do better. On a lighter note, that was one of MJ's more interesting songs.

Michael Jackson, is a great composer and performer of dramatic ballads and film clips. 'Ben' and 'She's Out of My Life' and two other great ballads by Michael in the 1970's and 1980's, that I highly recommend. D from Australia 🇦🇺

In addition to the story the song tells, the quality of the music and the production behind it should be emphasized. In terms of sound, the song is a masterpiece. A choir and a full symphony orchestra were brought in. It was recorded over 5 years from 1990 to 1995 and was originally intended to appear on the Dangerous album. The last part of the song was originally sung as a falsetto, but shortly before the end of the album recordings he decided to re-record it in a more aggressive tone, straining his vocal chords to the point of damaging them.
Always gives me chills! The incredible baseline was done by the amazing Guy Pratt who played bass for Pink Floyd, most notably on RUclips at the Pulse 1994 concert. Such a talented man xxx

Have you seen Smooth Criminal? I just learned that Annie.. 'Are you OK, Annie?' was a real girl. A 16 yr old pulled from the River Seine in France, Victorian Era. She had the most serene and peaceful expression on her face; she was smiling at death. They use that face for our CPR dolls.. to learn first aid. So, in his smooth criminal video.. the last 1/3 of the video.. he brings her into the video.. you can see her, you can see him throw her a wink.. you see her taken away, and his reaction to it. She was named Annie by Society.. ebcause nobody claimed her body, nobody knew who she was.. it's still a mystery. But Michael Jackson made a song just for her, over 100 years later. Annie is remembered.
This song made me realize he didn't do the things he was accused of. Not to say that his approach to children was appropriate.. I don't think it was. Because he was an adult male.. and hanging with children isn't how one grows up, it really isn't. That only works when you're a child. :)

Michael was a phenomenal musician. The musicians we grew up with through the 70s, 80s and even the 90s were incredible. Today we don't see amazing artists like this, I miss those days. I hate to think where we are heading.
