Olivier, is a very good friend of mine.. For many years now. He plays in a Death Metal band called #Cryptopsy as well as #CattleDecapitation. There IS a lot of "Clang" yes due to him being tuned to G#, (possibly even lower), when I played with #Origin we dropped to D (using a 4 string). Personally I prefer 440. You must see these guys live. Totally different "tone" when he uses one of his own #Spector basses. I DO think lately a lot of #darkglass players do go overboard with the "Modeling". It does tend to sound like beating on a car door.. Hopefully I'll beat this cancer crap and get back out there myself. Great seeing everyone at #NAMM2020! See you in Nashville :-)
For every complaining about the tone just remember; it's usually not this pronounced in the final mix and fits in with the rest of the music very well. You're only hearing it like this now because this is a bass focused video
Nice Alex Webster signature there. Also song was apparently removed from the description, it's called "One Day Closer To The End Of The World" by Cattle Decapitation.
This is because, those of us who use these #darkglass pedals (Or at least myself), once we get it dialed in to where we want to keep it, we don't want anyone to see our "Settings"! LoL Childish I know, But? This is actually truth.. Last time I hung out with Alex Webster from Cannibal Corpse I played a bit on his rig. Totally different settings than what I use with say #origin in the studio.
Im sold to Darkglass and I’ve the microtubes the alpha omega and compressor 3 sound a dub a clean and a Uber distortion and well can die happy now❤❤❤❤❤❤❤and damn love that band

Hi everyone, what is the technique he is doing at around 32sec, and again a few moments afterwards please? Is he scraping his nail along the string? applying pressure to the body to "warp" the guitar and bend the note? wicked playing and great to get a great look at his super fast right hand! Cheers
Yes, thanks for thw replies. However I was commenting on his right/fingering/plucking hand. The way his thumb bunches up on or near the pickup seems like a strange thing to do, (to me). Thanks again.
He's pushing the bass against his body to make sliding the chord more clear instead of letting the bass pull away from your fretting hand as you go higher
Watching this video post-quarantine-covid is weird lol. 8 months ago, we we're allowed to go in places unsupervised. Now it's like, "That place doesn't give a fuck about rules.....oh, yeah."
look at the dudes right hand.. I feel bad for those strings.. haha! Definitely an aggressive style, although I like for death metal.. fits the aesthetic.
Interesting how he's able to play all this super fast three finger stuff, yet he struggles to stay on the grid with the straight 8th notes. But jesus fuck, his sound is amazing!
Mais quel enfer...Le son de basse est tout simplement horrible, comment Darkglass a pu laisser passer çà. 9a ne met en rien en valeur leur matos. Le bassiste a un niveau de fou, quelle vitesse.

That tone could flatten Tokyo!!!
it also has a lot of low end to it that cuts through really well in the album mix
this bass tone is brutal... sounds like steal cables rattleing across a battle drum
That’s a really good description... makes me want it even more now!
Nice Alex Webster signature there.
Also song was apparently removed from the description, it's called "One Day Closer To The End Of The World" by Cattle Decapitation.
I'm surprised they don't list or show the Darkglass gear used, not only would it feed my neverending curiosity but it would be good advertising
Exactly
@Felipe Giraldo , Yes exactly.

That's the most sonically crushing bass tone I think I've ever heard in a recording? Devastating
The brutal sounds of a spector!
Brutality. Simplified, amplified and refined. Like Muay Boran😈
That was probably the longest and most precise fart I have ever heard.awesome.😄
💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Olivier is amazing live - check out his bands! 🤘
0:04 The guy under his left hand got into it really fast :D
Nice Alex Webster signature Spector bass. Killer technical skills. Excellent technique with both hands.
Alex Webster Signature Bass ❤ and Darkglass Effect = Killing
Love the tone. I’d love at least a fraction of this tone!
This man is a monster
Great player, great tone. Know his work in Cryptopsy. Two Pound Torch, Amputated Enigma, and others. One of the greats in the genre.
This is awesome! My favourite track from the album too.
I’ve never listened to them before, but now I’m definitely going to check them out. That was gnarly!
Love this guy
What's amazing is that he plays only with 2 fingers. Such a speed and precision to admire.
He plays 3 fingers also
He puts a alot of strength into his fingers too
Nicely done! Oli is a Beast!
not even a bassist but this shit is heavy as fuck, cant stop listening
That was like being in a fist fight for four minutes.
This clip combines Cattle Decapitation (Band), Cannibal Corpse (Bass) and Darkglass (gear) all at once.
Thanks for pointing out the obvious
@@braxtonfps3580 You are very welcome, glad to be of service.

F*ck! His fingers are that fast?! He's more machine than man!
Yea Oliver's right is ridiculous. The fact he only uses two fingers instead of three is just crazy.
@@soliderfromtf2 He uses 3
How do I get that tone? That would be perfect for my grindcore band, we play in Drop A.
Dave Otero does a gear rundown
Nice Job that was badass Horns up
Tremendo sonido.... Hisssssh grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
holy fuck that tone is nuts

Is he scraping his nail along the string? applying pressure to the body to "warp" the guitar and bend the note? wicked playing and great to get a great look at his super fast right hand! Cheers
He's hitting the string hard then sliding his fretting hand upward to a higher fret.
It's just a cord, then he slid it. Nothing special was done to make that sound.

Is he playing for CD too now? Haven't noticed
Yes he’s on Cattle’s new album
Yea he was on their newest album. Im a big fan of his work in cryptopsy and love seeing him with cattle decap
I think that tone could cut through well in the mix with a full band but it's a bit clangy on its own. Great playing though!
Sick bro
Lol @ 00:08. Tom Quayle: here we go again.

Wait is that a new signature Spector? O_O Cuz that looks kinda badass
Alex Webster bass, it's been out a few years
Clank city
This shit is badass
I dig the chainsaw tone honestly :)
bass tone FTW
This bass sounds like a gun, interesting tone
This bass need more bass👍🏻
It's perfect for the genre.
Funny how you mention that it needs more bass when that's what it mostly has
🤘😝🤘
That tone tho
technique is similar to David Vincent
Tight playing but sooo much clang.
Well it's probably a raw recording from a di so
look at the dudes right hand.. I feel bad for those strings.. haha! Definitely an aggressive style, although I like for death metal.. fits the aesthetic.
Shit sounds incredible
the clang is the death metal bass signature tho, those raw pure evil power is fantastic
@@nategin9009 that has nothing to do with the tone being clangy
Dude can play fast but that tone is doo doo.
His bass is a Olivier Pinard's Spector signature... I want one of this!
Alex Webster bro
Oh fuck...
Powered by Di Giorgio
after checking out jared of archspire, others just seems easy
Yeah thats the difference between being hard and being good.
he shall build a 2 strings bass )))
Inhuman faster bassist !

la chanson s'appelle< défenestration> dsl pour l'erreur
But what's the point of him even playing in the band if you can't hear shit. xD
Wait, Cattle Decap needs a good bass player.....?
Seriously though, stay on time my guy
This is Cattle Decap. Up the bar, dawg
Its clips like this that remind me why I would rather make my own gear than buy somebody else's substandard shit.
You can make better instruments than Spector? Better pedals/amps than darkglass? Who are you again?
@@nategin9009 He's the guy who works at marketing @ Gibson.
:D
@@TheBramVC lol marketing. Still take a spector over a Gibson
Spector and Darkglass are substandard? Whatever you're smoking, I want some.

I was thinking that bass on the album is perfect and i still do, but this, oh man...this is shit...
I'm into heavy shit. But all I can hear for the most of this is strings clicking. 🤷♂️
Then go back to bullshit bubblegum pop. If all you hear is string clicking this ain't the genre for you
That just sounds like noise, I can't even tell what notes he is hitting. Way too much distortion...
Try some decent headphones in stead of the potato you're obviously using.
Unlistenable.
Let this be a lesson to you... DON'T BUY DARKGLASS JUNK.
Why exactly?
So basically this guy just needs the B string and that’s it lol boring
Awesome bassist, too bad his talent is wasted in Cattle Decapitation
