Hands down the best most useful video I have seen out of NAMM. You can clearly hear the character of each bass. Thank you for doing this. Very helpful!
Fantastic idea for a video and even better execution. The relatively obscure Maiden tune also offers a full dance on the fretboard which gives the opportunity to show all basses in all registers. Awesome.
I see he spent a lot of time in the Spector booth, I’ve got two myself and they’re hard to beat. My main players today are a Spector NS2A, and a Fender P Bass, from watching this video I feel vindicated!
@@alphagt62 Great choice mate! I own Spector Euro 5 LX and G&L L-1505 and my pair feels like the same conception as yours. These instruments cured my G.A.S xD
Josh clearly digs the Ibanez SRMS720 :) With the number of basses he has played in his life, to make him smile like that playing a bass it must be exceptional!
Sunsmile is like a Chinese factory that I think makes a lot of OEM/rebranded stuff besides their own brand. There's numerous stories (one or even several similar on Scott's Bass Lessons) how even a cheap P bass copy oftentimes just works better in the studio that some buotique basses with exotic woods, complex construction and active electronics. Leo Fender and his "got it right the first time" designs man.
Now I'm regretting that I didn't play on that RKM double P when I discovered it at the show! Good to see I wasn't the only one who walked around with in ears and a way to play them silently. I had my little Fender Mustang Micro and it was absolutely perfect for really getting to hear the tone of what I wanted to play on.
I really appreciate your seamless A/B comparison with the same volume, and same basic music part for a real and accurate comparison. Great video. Now I definitely want a PJ bass.
You may have just sold me on a Marcus Miller bass. I think I liked their sound over the others. Also really liked this way of comparing them all together. I would like more of this!
I see others have commented on it but good on Josh! He looks great! Looking healthy! And just flawless playing as usual. That last Ibanez and all the Spectors definitely have my vote. Oh! And the Marcus Miller sounded fantastic too! I'll always have a soft spot for stingray style basses
Awesome video 😎🤘🏻🎸 my personal favorites are the swing guitars jazz bass, the Spector ns custom and dimension, the sire Marcus miller v5, and the Ibanez srms720
It's funny that the simple P Bass kicks butt on all the other more expensive and beautifully crafted instruments. That may not be the case in other musical styles but for this style the P Bass rules
RKM Custom has an authoritative tone....Feel like it holds the floor better & mids/treble. Those Nordstrand Blades sound perfect to me. Thanx so much for this badass comparison.
Actually I saw the rkm booth and the relic works looked fine for me. There was one gold leaf bass that was for Sharon Renold of SBL that was absolutely beautiful.
I think because Steveo used a Fender P-bass, the first clip is the most authentic to the original. But the Sire J-bass sounds great! I dig the concept here.
I didn't know Sire was making MM basses, hope they make the HH configuration as well... All basses look/play so nice, specially that purple Spector NS Dimension... Great comparison.
Great video! Yeah, a really great one. Plus, it's short but helpful. And the Sire sounds awesome, it has such a rich, full and complex tone....maaan, it blew me away in comparison. For my taste it sounded even better than most of the very expensive basses that have been shown.
There were many basses we didn't or couldn't get to for one reason or another. Also, we might have to do an extra long song - or two - to fit lots more basses in!
Hands down the best most useful video I have seen out of NAMM. You can clearly hear the character of each bass. Thank you for doing this. Very helpful!
+1 here, this should be the way they show the guitars at NAMM, appearance is one thing but tone is another.
This is a great way to compare a lot of basses quickly. Two thumbs up.
Sire Jazz has some serious punch. And when you price it against the others it really does. The RKM was really cool too.
Best NAMM Bass video of 2024!!!! The BEAST!!!! Thank you!! Awesome playing, recording, editing...!!!!
Fantastic idea for a video and even better execution. The relatively obscure Maiden tune also offers a full dance on the fretboard which gives the opportunity to show all basses in all registers. Awesome.
Josh rules! And Spector too!!!
I see he spent a lot of time in the Spector booth, I’ve got two myself and they’re hard to beat. My main players today are a Spector NS2A, and a Fender P Bass, from watching this video I feel vindicated!

the 2 p-bass pickup one sounded bad ass.
Josh is a beast and hits like a train yet is so consistent and on time.
Josh has lost some weight! Good for him!
He looks very good
I'd refrain from making comments about people's looks.
@@moparian Why do you care that I care?
@@Facu_Roldan You would be correct except that nobody made any bad comments but rather comments of encouragement.
@@Facu_Roldan looks are not so important but health is.
Love the new Sire Z3 series. Can't wait to see more reviews on that line in the future.
Josh please play a Precision, that first P Bass was TONE HEAVEN!!!... THANKS FOR THE CHOPS!
I just love the midrange and rolled high of the first Pbass. my kinda tone.
Agreed
The song is Losfer Words (Big 'Orra), by Iron Maiden, from the Powerslave album. An underrated awesome song. #UpTheIrons
Josh clearly digs the Ibanez SRMS720 :) With the number of basses he has played in his life, to make him smile like that playing a bass it must be exceptional!
I think iv watched this video about 700 times … love comparisons
Josh's a beast! Also that pink Spector really punches you in the face!
That first P was a punch in the face I spent the rest of the video recovering from. This is a good thing

The Ibenez AGB was a total vibe. The Creep will for sure turn heads on stage and it sounds awesome too! Double P bass sounds like a dream bass to me!
That Ibanez SRMS750 sounds beautiful! I absolutely love the tone.
Spector Bass Guitars💯😎🤘♥️
Best vid from the Namm so far. New Sire was pretty awesome.
That Sire Marcus stands out a mile which is crazy considering the price and the line up. Fantastic tone
great comparison video, I really like the tone of the RKM. now pardon me, gonna listen to some maiden and spank it.
I really appreciate your seamless A/B comparison with the same volume, and same basic music part for a real and accurate comparison. Great video. Now I definitely want a PJ bass.
That RKM double P was pretty sweet
One of my favourite bass vids in a while. Ace playing!
Woah, a great, simple idea, well executed. Thanks!
I'm impressed with the Sire V5 and really drawn to most Spectors. And the Ibanez SRMS.
Yep Killing it Josh! I', really liking that new Ibanez Multi with the Fishman's 🤘🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸
Great job
You may have just sold me on a Marcus Miller bass. I think I liked their sound over the others. Also really liked this way of comparing them all together. I would like more of this!
Literally how every NAMM show should flow
Thanks for making and putting it up!
all sound great, Josh is a beast
that RKM Double P bass tho
That sadowsky made me question every bass purchase I've made up to this point. Amazing tone and playing! Josh is the best!
The RKM is fantastic. The differences were all interesting, not a bad sound there really!
RKM sound and looks so good! Double P is really Janek’s new Bass 😮
Sire V5 Bass has some great tone especially for the price!
That Sire Z3 has no business sounding better than the rest of (the humbucker basses) them at that price! Good lord.
Sick bass playing 🤘🏽
Spectors just slay every other basses
Was waiting for this one! SVT Suite is also the best VST for Bass by far! Ibanez SRMS720 was my favourite
The sire sounds exactly like clank clank steve harris tone and its a jazz bass wooww
Awesome video! I wanted to try that PureSalem Classic Creep bass but they didn't have a bass amp on Thursday. That Reverend sounded great too!
THE BEAST
Consider price, the sites are really killer! That double P was gnarley though.
I see others have commented on it but good on Josh! He looks great! Looking healthy! And just flawless playing as usual. That last Ibanez and all the Spectors definitely have my vote. Oh! And the Marcus Miller sounded fantastic too! I'll always have a soft spot for stingray style basses
Great video dude. The Spector NS Customshop sounds amazing!
Finally someone who slaps the hell out of the strings with his fingers. Sounds esp. good on the J-style selection.
That first Pre,the blue RKM and that red flamed JJ Spector sounded the best to me.The Sadowsky, ahh no thanks.
This guy has unbelievable tone, they all sound pretty much the same in his hands.
That was amazing! I've watched this so many times, never get tired. You seem to favor the spector.
The reddish, orange Spector and the Reverend have my vote for best tone 🤘😎
The Sunsmile and Sadowsky, what a sound!
Loving the Sadowsky P bass!
That Ibanez shocked me. Loved the Thundergun
Thank you very much Hi from Germany
What a sick comparison video! Great .. thanks !
Nice meeting you guys at NAMM! Cheers from New Zealand
Hey man you too!🍻
The custom with the blade magnet pickups and the Ibanez with fishmans sounded amazing
Both Sire basses sounded great. Amazing value.
RKM Custom has an authoritative tone....Feel like it holds the floor better & mids/treble. Those Nordstrand Blades sound perfect to me. Thanx so much for this badass comparison.
That first bass sounded like best out of all of them!!
The low end to the Ibanez srm s720 is monstrously good.
But the sadowsky metroline hybrid is the star imop
Very cool compilation!!! My man can play!!!
Blue double P was my favorite. Every Spector sounded incredible also but I particularly liked the spalted one.
Yeah mine too. But the price is almost 4K and the relic job looks like something from Ali Express. Sounded awesome though.
It sounded so dark though. I think I just love clank too much 😂
Actually I saw the rkm booth and the relic works looked fine for me. There was one gold leaf bass that was for Sharon Renold of SBL that was absolutely beautiful.
@@erikpeterson778 gross. So you could get a Spector for cheaper
Dang Josh, looking great. Where'd the rest of ya go?
I think because Steveo used a Fender P-bass, the first clip is the most authentic to the original. But the Sire J-bass sounds great! I dig the concept here.
Absolute perfect way to show different basses with the same riff! Great!
Spector for the win!!!
Sunsmile precision and sire jazz are my favorites. Great playing by Josh (as usual)
I didn't know Sire was making MM basses, hope they make the HH configuration as well... All basses look/play so nice, specially that purple Spector NS Dimension... Great comparison.
That Sunsmile P killed them all.
I was gonna say the same thing!
I wish you put on screen which bass was which, but otherwise that was a great demonstration for sure !!!
Thanks !
:-)
Im very curious about those RKM basses, hoping to see a review. Great video! :D
They were really awesome basses! hope to work with them in the future for sure🫡
The sires an spectors definitely stood out for me
The Rkm feel great once you are playing them! The double P in the video actually is from Janek Gwizdala, so it must be a great instrument!!!
Want to hear more from this Sire Z3 😍
Excellent video, great paying!
Great song! Great playing!
Joshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! that finger style tone , so buttery
Any idea how much they sale that Sunsmile Pbass? Killer tone!
Shector sounds great
You guys are doing the Lord's work - keep it up .....
Wow!!! Spector rulezz
Great video! Yeah, a really great one. Plus, it's short but helpful. And the Sire sounds awesome, it has such a rich, full and complex tone....maaan, it blew me away in comparison. For my taste it sounded even better than most of the very expensive basses that have been shown.
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Great stuff!
Awesome demo. Losfer Words on a bass channel demo with no speaking or vocals is very funny too. I've been waiting for a video like this.
I like the first one SunSmile bass, that is the P bass tone))) and that Pure Salem was cool too)))
Sire Z3 sounds awesome!
i am at a losfer words.....sadowsky, spector and one of the 1st sires sounded incredible
The Sire V5 jazz and spalted Spector NS USA were my favorites. They were the most balanced and punchy
Intense but nice!
No U-BASS??? That's sad!!! The RKM basses were insane! Beautifully crafted, light and the sound was awesome. Just the $4k price tag hurt.
There were many basses we didn't or couldn't get to for one reason or another. Also, we might have to do an extra long song - or two - to fit lots more basses in!
Thank you for doing this video. It shows how underrated Ibanez basses are.
Looking good. 🤘🏻Congratulations on the weight loss
Wow my dude looking awesome!!!
Spector stands undefeated!
