After decades of trying to defeat his nemesis, a dying Lex Luthor finally discovers Superman's best kept secret, and unleashes a sinister plan to bring the last son of Krypton to his knees. But can Luthor's masterstroke truly break the man of steel?
A WORD FROM CHRIS
First I would like to thank everybody who helped me make this movie, specifically to everyone who contributed via my gofundme. Without your help, this would never have happened.
A lot went into making this particular short. Scheduling, costuming and location availability really played a major part. If I did not have the available resources that I had at the time, this movie would've turned out like crap. Though, this whole thing literally started when I received Ken Wood's headshot submission for a completely different casting. His resemblance to Christopher Reeve is uncanny, and I knew I had to make a Superman short with him. So I emailed him and asked if he would be interested. In case you're wondering, he was indeed very interested.
I had Ken read a few scenes from an unmade Superman script for his audition. After he was cast, I began my quest. The goal was to make a modern day Superman short based on Reeve's Superman. So I got to thinking and quickly came up with an idea.
Once I had a script, I began looking for the rest of my cast. A good Lex Luthor is actually pretty hard to find, especially one that resembles Gene Hackman. And while Paul Zawadsky doesn't exactly look or sound like Mr. Hackman, he sure as hell made up for it with his performance. Paul chewed more scenery, than almost any actor I've ever worked with. It was a true delight.
If you've read this far, then you know a certain someone appears in this movie. This appearance was a total linchpin. I knew if I could not get the right costume, then the whole thing would fall apart and look stupid. Thankfully, after a vigorous instagram search, I stumbled upon Matt Paynton and his amazing suit. After a brief exchange, Matt agreed to fly out for the weekend and film with me, and that's all she wrote. I now had my cast.
Filming took place over the course of a day and half. My executive producer Michael Terraso rented an executive suite at a fancy hotel for us to do the bulk of the filming in. The real trick was making one tiny location look like two, but I think I managed to pull it off.
I knew going into this that I wanted to use familiar themes, but nothing that was tired or overused by every other fan film, so I did a lot of mixing, and looked for a lot of covers of themes. I wanted people to recognize certain thematic motifs, but I still wanted things to feel current.
I am extremely proud of this one, the production value is definitely some of my best and just being able to get two of my favorite superheroes to stand shoulder to shoulder in all their glory was a childhood dream come true.

Well they were together in a Movie called Speechless, but yeah closest we'll get to seeing them together as Batman and Superman.
With shades of the Tim Daly/George Newbern and Kevin Conroy versions from the DCAU thrown in for good measure, right? Amazing work!
Not only does Superman here look like Christopher Reeve, but Batman here looks like Michael Keaton as well! I'm sincerely impressed!
Also, this Lex Luther is amazing; gave me chills.
The one playing Lex kinda made me think of an older version of Michael Rosenbaum and Clancy Brown's versions, more than Gene Hackman's. But yeah, TOTALLY nailed the performance. There was a definite "arc", and progression, and what more can be said? This was just amazing all round? That line Bruce says to Clark about them being family just made me smile.
Batman: We're not friends Clark...we're superfriends.

Luthor's actor was spot on with the character's narcissism and obessive personality.
In seconds you were able to convey what the true relationship is between Clark and Bruce 🙏🙏

To which Clark would answer: You dont get, do you? The only reason you had to try to kill me was hate, I have allways figthed for hope, you tough you were figthing a loner but I have something you will never have...

But given the context? Can you blame Supes? It shows that he's Superman towards the end of his arc with Lex.
@@BautiNogueira. Even if Superman brought Lex to a hospital that will only delay the his death for maybe a few days or weeks. Maybe even a month if Lex is lucky.
You know it was kind of cold but at the same time I feel like he was well meaning behind it. 🤷🏿♂️

I actually enjoyed Henry's performance as Zake humanists superman reminding us that his still a man. But yeah this superman is classic.

That's what I was thinking. Although, the Kingdom Come Superman wouldn't have been weakened by such a small piece of Kryponite.

Outstanding production. Not only did you bring to life a Superman who looks like he stepped out of an Alex Ross painting but you also replicated a Keaton Batman as the plot twist against Luthor’s plan. Once again, devoted, dedicated, talented fans achieve what so many mainstream studios cannot. Gratitudes for your efforts.
The ending at 11:30 shows us what Superman and Batman have been before the recent Batman VS Superman heyday...and it was called WORLD'S FINEST. And that's what they are in this scene.

This proves you don’t need a 250m budget & a ton of CGI to make these characters come to life. It’s starts with story telling & performance... Both were A+ in this film. Great Job !!!
I love that you actually understand what Superman stands for. This is Superman. Someone who's rageful, but is compassionate enough to do the right thing, even if Lois had actually died, Superman will keep every shred of humanity he has, because its what Lois would want. And I love that. And that, that is what hope is. Even in the darkest of times, hope still shines through.

The Jedi Bender this was an exceptional take on a story. Well done, nicely crafted. My ONLY disappointments were the sets. Luthor’s sick room hardly felt like the bedroom of an industrial giant, and the Kent apartment seemed almost hotel like. Other than that, from storyline to actors, you guys nailed it!

As an actor and filmaker, I am sure you guys know what quirks the production may have, but this shines and is amazingly well out together. Even more, as a fan of batman and Superman, I loved the script and actings. Hats off to you guys!

I was wondering how they brought Christopher Reeve back from the dead for a second. The actor is spot on.
Siegfried Armory for a second? All up until this time, I just realized that a different actor was playing him. During the promotion period, I thought Chris had created some unique tech that would age Reeve. And found a way to use his old footage in a new film. This dude looks incredible
But it works, doesn't it? In the context, and is true to Supes' character somehow.
That line, "You KILLED Lois, and with every fiber in my being I wanna burn a hole in that disease-infested SKULL! But I won't... because that's not who I am. And not who SHE would want me to become. You'll never break me, Luthor. Never..."

Lets be honest, who ever played Luthor did a SUPERb job.

I mixed Williams and Elfman themes into this, but I couldn't go overboard because then the Batman reveal would be too predictable.

This was great like as if Reeves Superman and Keaton's Batman were still playing the roles all these years later like stated in end credits! Nicely done!
Oh my gosh this was INCREDIBLE. The casting of every character was PERFECT. The actor playing Superman bears an awesome resemblance to Christopher Reeve and the actor playing Batman has the perfect look and expressions to play Keaton's version of Batman. I loved every moment of this and I hope to see more of these two guys as Superman and Batman!

This was a perfect tribute/sequel to both film series. You did the characters justice and I think if Mr. Reeve was alive he would be so thrilled and honored that you and your actors did him justice.

This took a dark turn ... Luthor was sinister AF and that cameo was sick, those horns when it was just pillows, excellent.

You're all way off. The real Batman is a compassionate soul. If you honestly think Batman is supposed to be some kind of anti-social edgelord, then you don't know the Batman.
This is the best Batman sequel that we deserve and the best conclusion to The Superman Movies evertold in the Internet. This makes me cry for how this didn't turn into a movie. I wish DC picked this up, but either way this is as awsome as it gets

Oh my, this is a work of art. The best Superman fan film I've seen. I was invested as soon as I saw how much Ken Wood looked like Christopher Reeve (My childhood Superman).
This was very well done. The acting was really good, especially the guy playing Luthor. And I screamed out loud when the 89 Batman, complete with Elfman theme music, showed up. This really played out like a comic using the Chris Reeves Superman and Keaton Batman and I mean that In a great way. The ending also actually tugged at my heart. Those moments were expressed so well by those two actors showed such an awareness of source material. I’ve always said, while they have real differences and those lead to real conflicts, Bruce and Clark would die for one another. They aren’t just friends. They are brothers. They love each other and I appreciate you showing that in the film. Thanks to all the cast and crew, solid A from me.

This fan film does a great job representing Superman and what he stands for. Better than Zack Snyder's interpretation of Superman, and in less time.

Wow...I mean... wow. I sat here for a good two minutes after the film finished to process what I had just seen. This was incredible, like, wow lol. If you can’t tell already, I’m blown away. This was perfect. This might be my favorite film you’ve ever done Chris, absolutely exceptional. Bravo to every single person involved, this was amazing.

Been a superman fan since I was a wee lad, I grew up on comics, the JLA cartoon and smallville, and then was introduced to the reeve movies and by god this is amazing. Superb work
Why is a fan made RUclips video so much better than the Zack Snyder / WB big budget production? I'm not saying it's perfect, but it does capture the essence of the characters.

Luthor did have one thing correct. Superman is the mask, Clark is who he really is. Just as Batman is the real identity and Bruce Wayne is the mask.

Got teary-eyed too! It felt like we were watching characters we'd grown up loving since we were kids or something! It's amazing what they put together with a budget far smaller than the official stuff, but somehow managed to create something satisfying! Good storytelling, right?

@@QuintessentiallyEssential Right? This is proof positive that you CAN tell a satisfying story on a budget. That's what I've always enjoyed about Chris' fan films. There's effort made to tell a satisfying story. He somehow manages to make the characters feel "true" to their roots, while adding a bit of something of his own "take" on them. Honestly, I wish DC would hire him for their live-action movies. I'll bet he'd end up delivering some awesome DC live-action films!

They're not friends, they're family. Family is everything. But I think WW should have been there too in the bed playing a sick Lois while Lois was somewhere safe and then later WW showing up in crime alley with Supes and Bats. The Trinity is actually family.

Supes was good, but my fav was the guy channeling Keaton's Bats. Top marks guys, great effort.
This was really well done! All actors/actresses involved did really well, particularly Superman, Lex Luthor, and Batman.
That last scene was surprisingly touching. It makes sense that Batman would speak that way after fighting alongside Supes for decades.
