    • @theos1022
      @theos1022 9 лет назад +9

      Spencer Malley I think that there were some nice things about TDKR that was nice. We got a version of Bane that was great to see and made Schumachers' awful departure forgettable. The back breaking fight scene was also well done. Story wise there were so many plot holes and poorly used clichés that there were parts of the movie that were almost laughable. Here are the ones that stick out to me the most:
      1. Bruce who had devoted himself to avenging his parents' murder and to being the protector of Gotham City hangs up his cape after his girlfriend is killed. If anything this would have made him even more devoted.
      2. An encounter with a cat burglar that is robbing him wakes him out of his reclusive drunken stupor and inspires him to blow the dust off his cowl.
      3. A couple push ups and a mechanical knee brace and he's back in crime fighting shape.
      4. He had no clue that the League of Shadows was not only back in Gotham City but that they had tunneled right into the R&D department of Wayne Enterprises.
      5. Batman throws all of his tactical planning and strategic wit out the window when he fights Bane. He doesn't even think to hammer away at that thing on his face.
      6. Bruce has a vertibrae pertruding from his back but all it takes is a slap on the back from a cell mate and a couple push ups and he's ready to climb back in action.
      7. Without any resources or any idea of his location he finds his way back to Gotham City.
      8. Celina completely sold him out to Bane once yet he trusts her to plan a final showdown against Bane.
      9. Bruce had no clue Talia was Ra's Al'Guls' daughter let alone the new Head of The League of Shadows.
      10. Who shelves a nuclear reactor "hidden" but unguarded? Apparently Batman does.
      11. Batman is theoretically just as rusty as the beginning of the movie with nothing more than pushups under his belt yet he best Bane. Bane, who's already beat him in hand to hand combat. How? By jabbing at that thing on his face. Yet he couldn't come up with this "briliant" idea the first go round?
      12. Batman fixes the autopilot on the bat wing so well that it's apparently able to outrun the fallout from a nuclear bomb. From ground zero might I add.
      13. He not only gives up being batman and Bruce Wayne but he gives up his fortune and runs away with... Catwoman. With nothing more than a nod and a smile to Alfred. The man that raised him.
      14. Speaking of Alfred, he decides that he doesn't want to see Bruce hurt himself anymore so he quits. Turns his back on the man that he raised from a child to an adult and quits.
      TDKR has some very politically and social conscious themes that I applaud Mr. Nolan for wanting to put in a film. However so much of the film felt poorly executed or rushed for the sake of having a conclusion. TDKR "nuked the bat".
      Conceptually and logically this fan film goes in a direction that is much more faithful to Mr. Nolans' Bat-world than what we got in TDKR.

    • @spencermalley10
      @spencermalley10 11 лет назад +5

      It certainly would've been different but better? That's pretty subjective. If this was the third in place of TDKR, Do you have an idea of how you would do the ending?

    • @Jensaw101
      @Jensaw101 11 лет назад +6

      Spencer Malley You're right, it is subjective. And while the comments here are made in such a way as to imply that their opinions (this fan film's premise being better than the Dark Knight Rises) are the correct belief, it is also true that your multiple posts and arguments imply that you believe your opinion (the opposite) to be the correct belief. Therefore, as this playing field has been leveled morally (in terms of social etiquette at least), we can begin discussing.
      I believe it is unfair for you to demand fans of this idea to have an entire movie thought out in their heads before they begin enjoying the idea more than a fully realized movie. The Dark Knight Rises -is- a full movie with a significant amount of money behind it and a full narrative to get people invested and produce enjoyment. This gives the movie an advantage, it has more going for it in terms of pulling people in and building enjoyment and entertainment value. If this fan film has accomplished the same feats (for some) without the same amount of narrative, that is a testament to the fan film, not a detriment.
      However, I suppose you are entitled to an explanation for one might believe this fan film's premise has enough potential to have made a better film than the Dark Knight Rises.
      The Dark Knight Rises had three primary issues in my belief. It had similar pacing issues to Man of Steel and other modern movies in which things continue to happen one after another without letting anything settle in, or allowing the audience to become involved in a scene before something else happened.
      It also virtually neglected the previous film. If the scenes of TDKR containing mention of Harvey were to be replaced with Bane destroying the established police force and government to _force_ Gotham back into disorder, the movie could have taken place after Batman Begins without The Dark Knight ever having happened. And if we're honest, an entire city revolting against the government (in the degree that it happened) because of a cover up is somewhat ridiculous.
      And in the end, the movie's greatest sin (In my opinion) was removing Bane's menace. He was an anarchist, a man out to beat the Batman and we didn't know why. Bane is (and was shown to be) a brilliant mastermind who was pulling strings and setting up events to occur all while physically defeating Batman. However, they turn him into a mere henchman of Talia by the end and kill him off unceremoniously and without significant thought.
      This fan film _is_ different, but that doesn't mean it would have made a better film than TDKR. However, the Riddler as a villain tends to lend himself to slower paced scenes which may have helped prevent the pacing issues of TDKR. The plot also seems as if it would be _entirely_ dependent on the events of The Dark Knight, as it would be about Enigma trying to piece together what happened in the final days of that movie. This would have helped make a trilogy of movies that all built off one another rather than simply sampling each other for motivations.
      And you add in the psychological aspects of Scarface which could lead to a series of fake-outs and a metaphorical decent into the human mind. However, that is simply speculation.
      In the end it still would have come down to writing and directing. However, as of this fan film (acting sort of like a pseudo-trailer), the premise of this fan film and the non-existent film it alludes to seems more promising than how TDKR turned out. However, that is simply my opinion, and this wall of text has simply been me attempting to share said opinion with you. If you thought TDKR was great and disagree with me on some of what I have written (or all of what I have written) that is perfectly fine.

    • @spencermalley10
      @spencermalley10 11 лет назад +2

      Jensaw101 While TDKR does bring alot of things back from Batman Begins, I do not believe that to be a detriment nor do I believe that Rises completely negelcted the Dark Knight. Gothams nefwound piece begins and ends with Harvey Dent who was nowhere to be found in Begins and Bruce's character arc of learning to live again involves him letting go of Rachel, who was quite alive at the end of Begins. If you think that Rises ignored the previous movie because it doesn't mention the Joker or touch on the rise of the freaks angle, I'm sorry you think that but I personally didn't mind that they didn't follow up on the latter because the Joker really is the top of that mountain.
      On a Side-Note, I completely disagree with the "Bane is a Henchmen" idea. I firmly believe that Talia and Bane were equal partners. Bane was in charge of the siege of Gotham and it was quite clear that he was indoctrinated into the League of Shadows philosophy to the point of him saying "I am the league of shadows". I have a hard time believing he did all that just to protect Talia's identity. While were on the subject, Banes menace was pretty much stripped from him when Batman defeated him at the end. All the Talia reveal did for me was explore Bane's past and solidified that they were two parts of a whole(Talia would have died in the pit if not for Bane, Bane would never have gotten out of the pit if not for Talia) Yes, Banes death was abrupt but there was a fight leading up to it where Batman conclusively defeated him. If anything Banes death is more dignified than the way Loki was defeated in the Avengers or Killian in Iron Man 3 (or even Scarecrow in Begins)
      Also, The entire city didn't revolt in the unveiling of the lie, Just the criminals that Bane released and the desperate people that people that Selina hinted at.
      n the subject of the Fan Film itself, I don;t think it's a bad fan film, far from it, It's really good. There are some great fan films out there and this one definitely ranks with the best, In fact it actually is what I thought the third films was going to be before I saw Rises (Batman getting chased by the cops, Fighting the newest gotham freak of the week) When I ask some people how they would've ended it, The reason I ask is out of simple curiosity and nothing more. In fact, I probably shouldn't even ask that question because it's kinda obvious( Batman redeems himself in the eyes of gotham so the police won't chase him anymore, Resolves to be Batman forever in a city that will always need him) I understand the desire to see all of bruce waynes stories end with the possibility for more adventures that but at the same time i appreciate and respect Nolan's decision to actually give his story an ending.
      Finally, I think this Fan Film probably would've made a very good Batman movie( although i would miss Anne Hathaway"s Selina Kyle)

      :P Sacred cow *snickers* My favorite version is the Animated series from the late 90s-mid 00's (Keven Conroy as the voice) I think the mistake is they cast Bruce Wayne not Batman. Batman is one of those where the hero is the real identity, He's batman all the time but puts on the mask of Bruce Wayne for the public. The deep solid brooding voice should be the actors norm, and it's when they are playing the part of Bruce Wayne that the voice is changed instead of the other way around

    You need to make more Batman stuff, this was fucking awesome, the origins of the Riddler, now there is something that I have always wanted to see, and you nailed it by putting it into the Nolan-verse, thank you for doing that.

  • @in_worldofmyown

    This feels like a whole movie but with more to come and I seriously love it. For starters the concept of it all is great. Making Scarface a primary villain was interesting and the fact that Arnold Wesker worked so hard just to get that dummy was funny but also showed how much the Ventriloquist really relies on Scarface. I also like the Victor Zsasz inclusion. The Batman they had in my opinion looked and sounded a lot like Nolan's version which was nice. But out of everything here I loved the Riddler in this. His motivation, how he acted. Not sure if he's better than Paul Dano but he far exceeds Jim Carrey and he is probably my favorite part of this all.
    Sad thing is that I'm left wanting more but this is just as good being a standalone thing. I saw The Dark Knight: Legacy fan-flim but I've gotta say this is probably better to me. Whoever made this did a very good job.

    I thought that the fight scenes were a little slow but that was literally the ONLY thing i had with this!! The characters the acting with a VERY LITTLE margin for the underacting Batman, was absolutely insane!!! Great Job! I want a sequel!!!!

    I love how the label on the case has the Arkham logo from the Batman Arkham universe. I think having the classic Arkham Asylum intercom chime weaved into the music would have been awesome, and let's forget the reference to Harley Quinn on the label either.

    I never thought a real life/live action Scarface interpretation would have worked unless I'd have seen this. Despite the less than batman-ish batman acting, this is definitely a true triumph to fan films and those who are talented and dedicated enough to make a masterpiece out of a beloved franchise without Hollywood. Congratulations, this was worth watching.

      You might try watching the short films "Batman: The Last Laugh" or "Batman: The Bloody Valentine." Pretty good choreography in both of those, although the Joker was a little weak in The Last Laugh. Bloody Valentine definitely has an Arkham Origins feel to it, if that's what you're looking for.

    As much as I love this film and think it's perfect, there's one thing that keeps bugging me. Why does Scarface seem to have his own voice when he is in fact a puppet? If this was the Nolanverse, it would probably play on Wesker having some mental disorder or something whereby he'd do the voice himself. The phone call scene didn't seem to add up seeing as he was in the box, whilst on the phone, whilst Wesker was in the room.
    Other than that, incredible!! The guy playing Nigma is perfect!

    • @zondrabarth4508
      @zondrabarth4508 4 года назад +2

      Well, Ventriloquisim is the art of throwing your voice, even from large distances. That's what Arnold could've been doing and we weren't shown. :o The fact that it was over the phone was strange.

      Really? I don't see it. XD I thought Wil Daniels did a good job staying true to the Riddler's personality while not being over the top like Jim Carrey or too bland like Corey Michael Smith in Gotham. Wil brought that middle ground in his performance perfectly imo. :)
