Love her energy!
She doesn't just preach this, she has embraced and is living it with all she is.
More people like this would make the world a better place!
I went vegan 2 months ago and feel great (at 67 yrs old). All she says is true: better health is yours, animal cruelty can be eliminated, and the environment can be helped tremendously. Such a small change by each of us can add up to a better tomorrow.
Vegan is not the same as plant base
What a beautiful woman! She's not only ethical, but also very passionate! However, by personal experience, I became vegetarian 30 years ago and vegan 2 years ago and I learned one important truth: If you eat according to nature and stop eating her children, she rewards you... Forever!
Funny how people make fun of the way she's speaking :D seems like they never seen someone with PASSION ;) a plant bases diet does not only give you health and energy but you can also find passion through veganism :)
Fine line between that and mania.
+Richard Bowen No, not mania. Pure bliss of finally living in alignment to one's taught morals and values. There's no better feeling.
+Airin Cronau In what way is a plant-based diet different than veganism?
BobbyFischer0000 I think both should go together but while a plant based diet only envolves food choices, a vegan lifestyle also takes other aspects into account, like for example not wearing any leather, using cruelty free cosmetics etc.
+Airin Cronau and also you can buy a lot of vegan junk food whereas a whole food plant based diet does not allow you to eat junk really
Smart woman and she is doing wonderful work.
I have never seen people get so passionate about any food let alone plant food. Lovin it...
I found her speaking smooth and well delivered. people should speak with conviction.
k
She's one of my favorite nutritionist and I love her passion and just enjoy when she speaks
I have been on a plant-based diet for 1 month and have lowered my total cholesterol by 30% and my LDL cholesterol by 40%. I've also lost 35 pounds (with exercise as well) and BP is 105/60.
Point made.
Can you please tell me what do you eat as protein?
@@lilyloo5816 you body create protein of the amino-acids..all plant food has protein...more than you need
@@FranciscoElNeneGalan nope
@@kingofallgodzillas9901 , yes it does, you don't need meat, you either eat the animal that ate the plant to get the protein or you eat the plant to get the protein without the middle man
@@lilyloo5816 tofu, lentils, chickpeas, nuts, beans and rice, quinoa, etc.
She sounds like she's in a Disney movie ready to break into song at any point
Mark Mammoth At least maybe the song might contain some scientific data rather than just her yelling her opinion at me for 20 minutes. I was hoping to hear some scientific facts from TED I can use to better shape my eating style and to discuss with my doctor, not an embarrassing disney princess rendition. I thought these talks were meant to be insightful and scholarly.
+Mark Mammoth
Blissed out on plant foods. The semi-starvation seems to cause hypomania. At some point, sooner or later, the neurochemicals will become depleted...
+Mark Mammoth my exact thoughts as I watched this
+Mark Mammoth LMAO!
+Mark Mammoth
Have you ever hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moooooooooon. LMAO
She is full of life explaining, Eat with intention, awareness and consciousness ♥️
Wow! So much passion. It's incredible to watch her! I am not vegan, but she makes me rethink a lot and I am about to start 🙏🏼😍
This was such a great talk! The speaker was uplifting and you can feel her enthusiasm. Well done.
Cheers to the high carb vegan community!!
Grace Ruggiero Why not just go on high fat and low carb for health?
sgonged Because that's not healthy.
Grace Ruggiero Or perhaps the high low-glycemic index carb vegan community?
Jeff Little Honestly cheers to anyone who is vegan
Jeff Little I think that depends in part on where a person gets their fats. Some fats are actually beneficial even necessary.
She sounds like she's about to burst into tears with emotion at any second
I wish I knew about veganism before I got sick I've been bodybuilding for 7 years and animal products ruined my health anyone who's reading this you might be still healthy right now you need to take control of your health when you're healthy don't wait until you're sick
rough rough Im 15 and went Vegan 3 months ago and plan to stick to it for life I also just started bodybuilding. Mind on informing how it affected your health and is it good im starting early?
You Just Missed The Anabolic Window from my experience it doesn't matter what you eat as long as your getting enough calories just eat lift enjoy life
rough rough THANK YOU TO SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE, Wish you the best with your health ..,
@@jyo5764 What is your expierence?... A hearth attack can come with no warning.
No truer word spoken
Thanks for this, good stuff. I have been vegan for over 3 years, I only have good results. Blood pressure 110/70. No health issues , active and friendly. Sometimes I hear "where do you get your protein?" The largest land animal we know of to date was called Argentinosaurus, it had a femur as big as a car. This creature as far as scientists can determine by the fossil record ate only a plant based diet. It had huge muscles built from massive amounts of protein I would imagine. The myth that only the flesh of animals can produce enough protein to build muscle is just nonsense now. Just do a little research, or ask an elephant, rhino or gorilla "where they get their protein?" Oh I am 59 years old too.
Congrats man! haters gonna hate! Keep it up
There digestive system was designed for that diet. We are not designed that way. I am not Knocking the Vegan lifestyle. It's not suitable for everyone.
+teachjacque Our digestive system does not vary with individuals, as your laughable comment seems to suggest.
And please explain, with the support of Scientific information, how YOU think we're designed. I'd love to hear this.
Your sarcastic, passive aggressive, condescending tone should be used on yourself. I don't care to explain anything to the likes of some one who obviously has a closed mind. Hee-Hee
Closed mind? Is that why i am inviting you to come out with facts and scientific information, rather than spewing them uninformed like you did? Just admit, you shat your load when i articulated your problem and challenged you!
There are two kinds of people in these kids of arguments generally: 1. the kind who are unable to understand, and 2. the kind who are unwilling to understand.
The former, there is SOME hope of having a debate, with the latter there is none. You come under the latter, as you have undoubtedly revealed. Maybe instead of teachjacque, you should teachyourself! HAA HAA
Bravo!! This is exactly my story... I read Diet for a New America after being vegetarian for a year, and immediately went vegan. 21 years later, I am still vegan! Anyway, I really appreciate you Julieanna... you are awesome!!
Love the passion. "I'll have what she's drinking." Very inspiring and most of all, she is right.
Just like Genesis told us from the beginning: veggies, fruits, seeds, and herbs.
You stopped reading at Gen. 1:29-30: please read the update I just posted.
***** Actually that is quite debatable, feel free to look it up if you like. I myself read up on it quite a while ago, and there are a host of different explanations/reasons as to why he would not have/did not eat meat or fish. Some ranging from poor translation to outright forgeries(one must remember the bible has been manhandled and reworded to fit agendas for years). For example, some scholars maintain that the Greek word for "fishweed"(seaweed), has been mistranslated as "fish", in the story of Jesus's post resurrection consumption of fish. There is also reason to suggest that Jesus may have been an Essene, who where a group of Jewish ascetics that were vegetarian and vegan. Anyway, there are many reasons as to why one should not assume that just because the bible says Jesus ate meat and fish, many many years after said event would have taken place, that it must be true and is therefor justification to do the same.
Dear TCC,
So; "some scholars" believe Jesus fed the 5000 with loaves and FISHWEED.
Do they also suggest that He ate Passover LETTUCE instead of Lamb?
Jesus ate meat AND fish. He multiplied bread and FISH (Mark 6:41-43)
So He wasn't encouraging anyone to be vegetarian! He also told His followers to eat whatever food was served to them...
"And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you." (Luke 10:8) If “such things” include meat or fish, how can a Christian vegetarian possibly obey the Word of God?
Pick apart your food by all means, but do NOT pick apart God's Word...
"It is forever settled in Heaven." (Ps.119:89)
ken rodway Some people believe that Jesus actually multiplied the dried seaweed(fish weed), and it surely would seem more likely in a basket of bread. Especially since fish weed remains a popular dish among Palestinian peasants, to whom Jesus would have been speaking. And besides if He did serve fish, why then did his disciples not offer to go catch more? After all they were fishermen, and were right by the sea. Surely some of the 5,000 there were also fishermen, and yet no one had the idea to go catch some more fish, it wouldn't have been that inconvenient would it? However, if they had fish weed with them they would not have been able to go get more, as it would need to be dried, so they asked Jesus how they would feed the people with only some bread and dried seaweed. Oh and before i forget, about the lamb. If i recall correctly the Bible doesn't say that Jesus ate lamb or goat, but merely that he participated in the Passover, also it says He ate the bitter herbs and bread and what not that is associated with Passover but it makes no mention of Him actually eating lamb(i dont have a bible handy at the moment however). I believe the only time the Bible ever outright says he ate any flesh was in regards to eating the fish, which i've already explained my reservations about. Now, if I may ask you a question, where do you believe Jesus was born? Bethlehem, Nazareth, or somewhere else? Because while it is clear what the biblical stance on the subject is, there are also some things historians have discovered. The most important of which is that no such census was decreed around the time of Jesus's birth, and furthermore, such a census would be logistically impossible. The idea of millions of people uprooting their families and lives to travel hundreds if not thousands of miles to the land of there fathers with their belongings only to possible have to wait there for days, weeks, or months for a census taker to tally them and their possessions is completely ludicrous. The entire Roman economy would have come tumbling down, and i don't imagine to Romans would have even considered such an outrageous idea. The point i'm trying to make is that the bible is not the ultimate truth. It is rife with contradiction, hypocrisy, and discrepancies. The word of God has been tainted by man, and as a result the path to righteousness is now fraught with danger, and the bible is no exception. Also, if Eden, Gods perfect world was vegan as Genesis states, and Gods kingdom shall also be vegan(Isaiah ch. 11, one verse of which is 7 "And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox"), then why not try and strive for that? As the prayer goes "thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven". As Isaiah states, heaven shall clearly be vegan, so...why then would you eat animals?(i'm assuming you do). I am not sure if you are aware, as many people are not, but Jesus had a number of half siblings one of whom was James(James the Just). *Small side note, " you will go to James the Just, for whose sake heaven and earth came into being". Jesus said that.* The bible makes clear on James's stance on animal consumption, it states that, "he ate no flesh". Robert Eisenman, and American Biblical scholar and historian states in one of his books that, "who and whatever James was, so was Jesus". Anyway, sorry i'm ranting, almost done. I am a believer myself, and as a believer who does NOT ascribe to Pauline Christianity I am deeply saddened that the Bible has lost some of its truth due to mans selfishness and arrogance. But to assume that God did not allow man to taint his word and message is naive, the bible is a collection of books that were assembled and voted on by man. The most important book to our faith could have been voted out for all we know. For it is true that God has let man run his course in horrendous and unjust acts before, such as the martyrdom on the disciples, why should the bible be any different? The commandment "Thou shalt not kill", means just that. Don't kill. Killing by definition is to end somethings life, if one tries to state that, "oh, well...that only applies to humans", is not only arrogant, egotistical, selfish, and cruel, but also a prime example of species-ism. I do not feel that individuals who condone animal slaughter for food know the true loving nature of God. For while I use the word of God to spread a message of love, compassion, mercy, and equality to all beings; others use it to extol man as God's prize creation and by eating meat(and exploiting animals) they spread a message of cruelty, oppression, slavery, torture, misery, death, murder, disrespect and complete disregard towards God's creation. Finally, as a Christian, or Jew(or whatever you may happen to be) you have two options in life. You can respect and show love and mercy towards God's creation or you can choose to kill it, mistreat it, and take advantage of it. Why then do so many believers choose the latter? It is beyond me, i cannot fathom any rational or justifiable reason for it. But perhaps they choose it because of the selfish nature of man, they pick and choose the parts of Gods message to adhere to and make "exceptions" to those aspects that they don't care for. Proverbs 31:8 "Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute". Ecclesiastes 3:19 "For what happens to the children of man and what happens to the beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts, for all is vanity"
agreed. When God created the world, he told Adam and Eve to eat fruits and veggies from the trees and plants. Nothing about killing the animals around them. That didn't become necessary until after the first sin.
This is an excellent, informative and heartfelt talk. Love it!
wow!! absolutely brilliant. I am going to start planning my vegetarian meals...Thanks for a passionate and we'll presented talk.
WE are soooo on board with you Julieanna! Beautiful speech with beautiful meaning & purpose!
Oh my God I love her energy & positivity! She is amazing !!
i love her impassioned presentation!
Brilliant! Such passion for a topic that everyone should become a student of. 11/10
she is so passionate. Thank you very much for the brilliant speech
She's so passionate about this awesome lifestyle 💖 I really love the way she's talking 💗
Love the energy!
id love a woman like that. great speech. vegan power forever!
Thank you for spreading this message.
she is funny and she says the truth ^^
Plants are my diet 👌
Breakfast - Natural plant food
12-1PM - anything 😁
Dinner - only plant food 👍
Hey voice is soothing!
I LOVE your enthusiasm!!
I thoroughly agree wholeheartedly with what she says.
So much so I want to do what she does.
I need to get my nutrition degree and join her in saving lives.
Loved the enthusiasm. It caught my attention.
Excellent and motivating! Your efforts are part of how humanity is working to create a healthier human and planet while and at the same time, while doing that, we are no longer torturing and killing animals. Thank you!
Who could possibly not love Julieanna's enthusiasm? I can attest to the efficacy of these solutions to our health crisis in the United States. If we really believe in sustainability; why not sustain our health and that of the planet?
LOVE HER SO MUCH!!! AND LOVE THIS MESSAGE SO MUCH!!!
Her delivery is nothing but melodramatic camp.
I am a pollo vegetarian I showed this to my meat loving friend who has diabetes
He was gob smacked
It was awesome. Thank you.
You wonderfully passionate woman !!!
Brava! Wonderful insight.
So true she makes all the sense in the world
Watching a prescription pill add before this... priceless 😂
There is a fine line between been enthusiastic & over-acting with excessive emotion & enthusiasm. Here is a fine example of how to do the latter. The Speaker had great content but ruined the presentation with her quest to sound 'amazing'. She needs to chill pill and relax. Seriously - I found it irritating with her over-the-top drive to be so perfect.
Sold..Im on it for a month..lets do it..her energy & passion..Makes so much sense.
Love her passion!
Very nice public talk. Go plant based, go vegan!
The brain does regenerate
Alec McKinney The brain does regenerate. They have some very promising results with former NFL players.
Amazing speech!
So much passion!
I don't get why the only arguement against eating like this is " you dont get enough protein" ? ? alot of people dont get enough protein anyways! and you CAN get more than enough protein by not eating meats! you just have to pay attention and eat high protein foods. Its simple? Boom Fiya powa
Nia LaLa You are so right. People speak out against a plant based diet without ever trying it. How does that make sense?
the average american eats on average 30 grams of protein per day over the recommended intake. and, there are soooo many fruits and vegetables that contain protein. not to mention nuts, legumes, and beans. vegetarian/vegan for the win, not just for ourselves but the community earth and animals too!!
***** I agree. If you see a vegan, the correct question is not "Where are you getting your protein?", it's "Where are you getting your B-12 from?" I have been "mostly vegan" for the last couple months (occasionally a bread product or spaghetti sauce, or hot chocolate with small amounts of dairy or egg), but I probably wouldn't be doing that if I didn't have B-12 supplements available. Paleo man got B-12 from unchlorinated water, which can be an issue because that's also where he got cholera.
It is actually probably best to limit your intake of methionine, which you find the most of in meat protein. Apparently you get a lot of the benefits of caloric restriction by just restricting your sulfer-containing amino acids, especially methionine.
Amazing! - btw the body can create new brain cells
Love her energy.
Thank you!
I liked her accent. It's gud
She looks like the millionaire matchmaker lady
Her message is so true....all organs in the body regenerate when given the correct nutrition...all dis-ease reverses as the body heals itself with proper plant based nutrition and minerals and fatty acids.
Right on! Plant based and whole food diet will heal us and the planet! I love your passion and message that I also love spreading across the world. We can be healthy and filled with joy and it's easier than we think!
The way she was talking made me think this was a parody.
***** lol
Totally agree! I'm 42 now, and have been plant based for the last 2 years. This year I have just got a new PR in my half marathon (1hr 16min 20sec) 20 years after my last PR. I'm now only training 6-8 hrs a week compared to 15-18 hrs when I was in my 20's. You can follow my journey on a plant based journey on Instagram @everfitcoach.
Woow great message indeed 👌. I love her passion for food 😍.
Great personality!
Not speaking, but giving a performance, not bad but can be annoying if it isn't what you were expecting...
Wow....if you would have read Genesis in the old testament it says I(God) give you the seeds and the fruit from all for your food .....hmmmmm its amazing that we thing something is new when in fact it right before our eyes and why we haven't seen this before is because the love of money always gets in the way of all our lives in every aspect including our food sources.........
+Roger Gibbons Are you saying God gave us Watermelons?
So true, preach girl!
She's great. Very passionate.
She's needs to due a bit more research. Nothing about the added sugars to most of the food we eat how the sugar alters the bodies regulation of insulin.
The added sugar has a hormonal response which produces excess insulin, acts as an anti appetite suppressor and causes irritable bowel syndrome.
Dr. Lustig from UCSF Medical Center has research showing how the intake of different types of sugar affects insulin production and weight gain.
You have not familiiarized yourself with the of medical research on vegan diets and reduction in Diabetes, Heart Disease, etc. Read Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. T. Colin Campbell, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, etc. I don't really like this presenters style of talking but plant based diets do reduce many medical problems. Check out the research
Is it a vegan diet? Or the reduction of added sugars in your diet when change your diet?
Take a look at Dr. Lustig's talk on how the human body processes sugar. Dr, Lustig has been treating patients at UCSF medical center for over 20 years and has shown it's the added sugar in our food that's responsible for high rates of diabetes, heart disease, obesity, etc.
Switching to a vegan diet just changes what you eat and eliminates the added sugar from you diet.
Not sure if in your vegan diet you eat fish? If so you should know farmed fish, including the farmed fish in the open ocean are feed chicken parts. (Feathers, beaks, and chicken feet. So in eating wild raised fish you are really eating chicken too.
Passed High School Physics Eating fish isn't vegan at all, please do some research and you'll find out why veganism is only increasing in numbers, take a look at the graphs.
Not in the San Francisco Bay Area. Veganism is on the decline and omnivores are replacing them.
Passed High School Physics wow, that's fascinating i missed those classes when i was younger.
When did TED become an infomercial channel?
What are they selling? Must be subsidized by plant lobby groups huh..
+9fifty5 Listen to the message not just the messenger. You might live longer.
+vistagraphsnet Spare us your death anxiety and get the notion out of your head that an exclusionary diet will trump your genes.
Science hasn't got your back I'm afraid.
+9fifty5 Lol, that made me chuckle over my coffee this morning. I've been thinking about the fact that it's also a "restrictive" diet. Apparently to be successful vegan you must also restrict protein and fat. Exclusionary and restrictive. Sounds like a lot of fun. It would be well and good if it actually promoted good health and longevity but the evidence doesn't look so good, brain health being a particular issue.
+joe schmo Shhhhh!...
This Lady has got passion! Like it!
well said. I fully agree.
I had to stop watching half way through. Message is fine, 'Whole food plant-based diet solves many problems'. However, the camped-up ultra-theatrical TED delivery made me cringe. I'm sure she's a lovely person with good intentions but this was like a West End theatre production. Why do these TED talks have to turn into an amateur dramatics production? I was expecting a song as well. It's pantomime. Just walk on, say what you're going to say in a normal way, and then walk off. Annoying.
TED really went down hill didn't it?
FUCK no!
***** Yeah, cos everyone on the internet is american and this new idea = all new ideas. Idiot.
***** you're certainly acting like an idiot.
***** you're so special I am going to sacrifice some animals in your honour, and eat them. I think I will start with Veil.
2LegHumanist
Who is Veil?
She's great!
ahhh everything was so well told!
So...she's not a good speaker & this video held very little helpful information, but it doesn't mean that eating a plant-based diet isn't valid. Do the research...there are plenty of very helpful videos out there. Just move on to one that is more solidly communicated.
all her points were fantastic. i hate being negative, but the disney style acting made it painful to watch
Good message to this world, well presented with passion & experience.... keep going
The passion!
I wanted to watch this by but 2 mins I’d had enough of hearing “elixir” every second sentence, all the preamble was frustrating and her general delivery she was wrecking my head.
Pity, because the title suggests she had a positive message to give.
I believe in Plant Based Nutrition !
Let animals eat the plants & then we eat the animals :)
Fuck you :)

P.S... Nice profile pic but put the dog down & let it be a dog :)
Every word is true!
Wonderful talk! Beautiful woman!
She says you are what you eat. She doesn't look like a plant to me.
omg. you're so right. she looks like a human to me, so i think it means we should eat humans.
Or vegetable, or nuts for that matter :D
S miles But only the healthiest humans... So, a vegetarian diet after all.
I like Bacon....but I like plants too...all things in moderation.
Does a breathing and feeling animal have to be slaughtered for your slice of bacon? Please ask yourself this question in all honesty. Killing an animal has nothing to do with moderation.
Kiitos!
Great Job! I had a profound realization listening to you speak. Keep it up!
Probably the corniest presentation ever. Has a cheesy high school play vibe to it. Devalues the content, if there was any to start with. Ted has really taken a nosedive.
good message, terrible delivery. seemed to rehearsed and the passion faked
Plant-based nutrition is fundamental. This diet has changed my life as well. Drastically:0)
I love Jileanna but why was she wearing those stupid shoes that will cause her foot problems in twenty or thirty years?
Damn, the delivery style was so annoying and fake regardless of the truth or not of its facts. Is she an actress or something?
I don't think you understood her perspective. Her delivery style may not have been what you're used to, but she was describing a world of vegans which would basically transform Earth into the garden of eden... We live in a world of shit. Don't believe me? Search: factory farm...How many burgers have you ate?
You think she's hot, that is the truth.
She looks good because she's extremely healthy.
Jax Teller Dude, I actually agree 100 % with her haha :) I am transitioning from a life of 28 years as a meat eater into a vegetarian, then a complete vegan. It's very tough tobreak habits but I know I'll succed.
I simply said that she sounds really, REALLY annoying and corny. Kinda like a sales pitch or a Disney movie. But it's perhaps because she's all excited about it. And hell yeah, she's smoking hot.. most vegans I see on the internet are beautiful people.
***** iT DEPENDS ON YOU JUDGE THE THINGS. LOOK INTO POSITIVE SIDE, LEARN FORM THE GOOD THINGS ON IT. DONT BE HYPOCRITE AND GO FOR DISCRIMINATION IT CAN LESSEN YOUR LIFE AND YOU WILL DIE EARLY. LEARN TO APPRECIATE THINGS DUDE..
Because you focused on the messenger instead of the message, you ended up a loser.
Please raise two octaves the pitch of your music or movies and tell yourself to focus on the message not the messenger. Come on, buddy, prove to me you can back up your dimwitted comments. End up a winner ;)
After being vegan for 6 months my blood pressure meds were halved cholesterol went from 4.4 to 2.2 lost 12 kilos so happy
Congrats :) Im working on it!
This lady is unbearable
doodelay double dammmmmmmmmmmmmn....... concur And to think...she probably thinks she's the best speaker ever ! that's the best part
yes, she might be right about everything but OMG i can't stand how she talks
Just started vegan lifestyle and very happy
You are such a beautiful soul!!!
These Ted talks are becoming worse by the year. Who vets this shit? I thought she was going to burst into song at one point. Awful.
