- The Story....
This heifer calf was born from a mom that has a lot of milk and big utters. For some reason Bertha, as we call her, could not nurse. Possibly due to the size of her mothers milk bag. I lead her and her mom to the pens where I teach Bertha how to nurse like a real calf!

Good going farm guy. Have you had a lot of babies born this spring?
Yes sir. In the past week they’ve really been dropping fast!
👏👏👏👏
Great job dude thanks for all your hard work and dedication to keep 🇺🇸 and 🌎 healthy! I can't do vegan foods! Her the 🐄 sounds disgusting, but you handle everything very well and make it look easy!
Great video. I'm from Texas as well and do some ag videos. Maybe someday were could do a collaboration.
Appreciate it. That would be cool. I checked your channel and you have some nice videos as well.
I thought you bought p2 and p3 cows, and raised the calfs.
I know this is a late comment. I see there is an F1 brangus in that herd. How is she doing as a mother and how are her calves compared to the cows? I bought a brahman bull so I can get some F1 cows.
Yellow CattleCompany these are all Brangus cows. Some might just have a little more Brahman influence than the others but they all make greats moms!
👍👍👍
I do the same sound to call my bottle calfs lol am on a dairy
Feels like the only way to speak to them! Lol
@@TheFarmGuy haha yeah it works better than you would think!!well wish you nothing the best with your farm sir that looks like a clean and proud set up you have !
Me and my dads cow just gave birth to twins and the mother already chose her bonded calf so I Tried yesterday to bottle feed her but she wouldn’t take it any thing I can do?
You just keep trying. You might have to feed her through a tube the first few times. She does need colostrum first and foremost. When you try again with the bottle, put the end in her mouth and work it back forth as she would if she was sucking from her mom. Squirt a little on her nose too. Keep trying and she should come through!
@@TheFarmGuy thanks man but today she let both of them nurse and they’re fine.
@@theXxXsurvivor awesome to hear!
Or you can put syrup on the tip of your finger and let the calf suckle on your finger.......then proceed to bottle feed the calf........works EVERY TIME.
I’m only 20 mins from mid state stockyard
We are good friends with them! They have family in Texas that we know well.
What is the cover over your working area?
I think just making shade for whatever we have in the lots during the hot summer days.
Got to keep an eye on those newborn calves. Usually they will learn to nurse. That calf looks just like my Cletis calf that my kids raised on a bottle. Here is another calf we just had. ruclips.net/video/KV8E77PL-WQ/видео.html
Momma sure had plenty of milk. . Wonder why she never took
I almost think because they were so low to the ground. I watched her try to nurse from another cow that didn't have a calf yet and she did just fine but her mom was a different story.
could you keep in a barn untill success
Why don't you do longer videos.
Don’t want to bore people. Try to just put all the action in there. I shoot a ton of video but cut out a lot usually.
Kelly
Is that mother a first time calver

The Farm Guy oh she looked like a first because she was so protective
This is baaah having too chase breakfast, need to train him better
