Every year RGT picks a GOTY that he knows won't be nominated just to seem different. Last year it was what? Turtles? After summer game fest you said you were done with Jeff and his shows. So are you going to "keep it real" Rgt and not watch the Game Awards?
Stellar Blade and Black Myth Wukong have the same metacritic average... the latter fought huge odds to do what it did, it deserves recognition but it will most likely be skipped over due to who nominates games
Erdtree should NOT win for the following reason: it's DLC content and it's NOT even DLC content you can start playing without playing the main game (like how you can start and play the "Shadows of Rose" RE8 DLC from the main menu without playing Resident Evil 8, despite that DLC's story taking place years after the main game). You can NOT start Erdtree until you go into the MAIN Elden Ring game and you have to defeat TWO bosses from the main game: StarScourge Radahn and you also have to beat Mohg (who is very late in the main game and you have to be at least level 100 to survive the Erdtree DLC, which means you have to have SEVERAL hours put into the main game). Erdtree isn't a stand alone game, it's DLC and it's not even DLC you can pick from the main menu without playing the main game. It should NOT win game of the year. Best DLC of the year? Yes. But NOT game of the year. Also... As for who should win Game of the Year... Astro Bot and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (which is NOT a remake, it's a sequel. Lots of crazy stuff going on in the plot of that game which makes it clear it's really a sequel) are the two top reviewed 2024 Playstation 5 exclusives. Astro Bot got a 94, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth got a 92. I've played and completed both games and both deserve their high scores and should be nominated and I feel one of them should win the game of the year award. Also, Metaphor: Refantanzio is a game I have NOT played but it has a 94 score. I haven't played it, but lots of people have and LOVE that game, so it should be nominated. Also, Balatro is a game I have played and it's amazing and it definitely deserves it's score of 90. Yeah, it's a card game, but it's freaking AMAZING. When you first play it, it doesn't seem like a big deal and might even be a little frustrating. But once you get into it, you get ADDICTED to this game and you can't stop playing. Balatro is so freaking great!! Also, I know Stellar Blade, which is exclusive to the Playstation 5, has no chance of winning due to certain critics being strongly against it, but it's an AMAZING game. It's awesome and I wish it would get nominated. Not going to happen, but it deserves an honorary nomination. Finally, I agree Batman: Arkham Shadow VR on Quest 3 is a GREAT game!! VR in general has been on fire in a great way during the last two years with some great games like Metro Awakening, Resident Evil 8: Village on PS VR2 (that game is a VERY different experience in VR. The house Beneviento basement is PURE 100% terror in VR when things escalate from zero to 100 in a very abrupt way) and many other VR games from 2023 and 2024 have been really good and Batman: Arkham Shadow on Quest 3 is freaking great. Unfortunately, it most likely will not be nominated for game of the year.
The game awards were never special. People only tune in for the game previews. The only people who give a damn about the awards are fanboys, and devs. I have never cared about who won what title, and neither have any gamers I know in person.
Jeff Gerstmann is an OG of games media (GameSpot & Founder of Giant Bomb). Been watching his content since I was a teen. Man is honest on his thoughts on video games, which is why he was terminated from GameSpot and started GB. Now he’s independent doing his own thing on RUclips and Twitch. One of the few people I respect in games media.
My issue with the non-exclusive business model is not just that there's no reason to buy the hardware, but mainly that there's no reason to even get into the software ecosystem. If Microsoft had exclusives to their ecosystem, the hardware would not matter at all.
It’s crazy I always thought I was going to buy an Xbox to play star field and sure enough I tested my phone to play it and it worked … didn’t even need to pay for a 500 dollar system
They do not make money from console sales, period. Imagine you can sell your games to 30 million people or 1 billion which way will make you more money? Definitely not keeping your games locked to a small market!!!! There is more gamers than ever a stupid business strategy is not selling your games to them all! It doesn’t matter where you play and it never should have!! PC is the best place for the best experience. Put them on PC day/date they will sell like crazy not 2 fck years later then expect us to buy them. They already got them with emulation or pirates

Tell me why they can’t do both RGT? Microsoft has all the resources to provide hardware and software. The goal is to provide has many avenues to provide their games to consumers. Traditional console to a fire stick and all. It’s not hurting Xbox at all to do both and they are getting record profit.
Tears of the Kingdom got nominated, by that merit alone Shadow of the Erdtree deserves a spot too Edit: Play dumb all you want, you know what I’m implying.
Tears of the kingdom is a full unique game and a masterpiece in its own right. Erdtree DLC is generic post game content for an overhyped game that cannot be played on its own
No I mean you're right It's been a s*** year. But I do think some of those things didn't need to be done I mean why not open some of the other genres before you go and do that like for instance Black ops 6 is actually pretty good this year why not mention that and I know why but considering it could very well be one of the best games of the year if this is what we're doing or how about some of the other B tier games, considering that other year It Take Two won goty. I think remakes can be fair game, But remaster really? If we would have known that CD project red could have tweaked a few things on cyberpunk and we'd be winning game of the year this year. I think DLC is highly questionable. I really don't see why Black ops 6 can't be in the running. And what about that other persona-like everybody's talking about?

Erdtree wins GotY while Black Myth won't even be nominated. I'm calling it now!
Erdtree is not GOTY lol
It's good, but it had a lot of issues, and I don't think DLC's can qualify

-The ecosystem?
-Backward compatibility with the best X360 games?
-Gamepass?
