ive litterally seen videos of libers admitting to police they assaulted the person because the person offended them rofl.
I recently watched a Zoomer playing MGS 1 from 1998. This game has a Kurdish woman, and this feature (region of origin) was one of many in the history of this character. It was so diverse that people had to use Google since not many knew who a "Kurdish person" was. It's a great game, with a great characters and an amazing story.
But now in a lot of games there is no diversity even if game is advertised as diverse. There is always minority oprresed by the system, lesbian with short hair that is boring af, women that look like they have membership card to KFC rather than to nearby gym. Like cmon bruh - I'm sure there are hot lesbians with long hair, hot women, people representing miniorities that can handle themselves in any situation. Just stop making characters from one form and calling it diverse - they look and act the same in every "diverse" game.

The main problem with Journalism is that it's clearly at odds with what i can clearly see for myself:
I get told that Single Player games are dead every other year, but they consistently show up at Game of the Years awards as GOTY contender
I get told that games today are far more inclusive and tackle much harder themes than the past, but they still cannot even touch the level of Final Fantasy 10's Story or Characters in 2001
I get told that games are far bigger than they ever been, but they cannot even approach the freedom that Planescape: Torment gave me back in 1999

The one nuance here is that we do have some journalists making articles countering some of the things you mentioned especially the one about single-player games being dead, I read an article breaking it down and the guy made some interesting cases with the data about how well single-player games are doing and how he thought it will be in the future as well. Its just that the annoying articles get blown up to the top of the search results always.
Final Fantasy doesn’t push it so much it’s pretentious
They complain about the reviewers leaving negative comments on YT. Yet, many of these gamers had to actually buy the game, play it, and leave a legitimate review about the product. They weren't given a free code unless they met certain criteria. These journalists were leaving great comments for the game and it hadn't even been out yet. If you're selling authentic jewelry, but it turns out to be fake, then complain about the criticism; it isn't the consumer's fault nor is it the people who revealed that the jewelry was fake. Instead, you can look at how much a AAA game has depreciated in value within less than a week because the company sold slop. Good luck in selling that hard copy and getting your money back.

There's a problem with ethics in our media and government as well its just a thing, I mean even getting Repubs in office (only some not all of them) instead of getting to work are skipping some of the basic requirements of our country regarding ethics and background run-downs. Its disappointing.

These "journalists" fail so hard on realizing that games that aren't about romantic relationships don't need gender/pronouns and LGBT relationships. We want myths/legends and fantasy. Not half thought out dialogue that virtue signals for no meaningful reason.

Devs realised they actually need money to pay the bills.
If people that are mad about this kind of stuff actually did this it would have less concurrent players on launch, but people online talk shit about these games and then also go buy them just because and preach about how bad it is never even refunding the games they disliked. Its a gigantic cycle that occasionally we get good results in.

I achieved everything I wanted in games at the cost of living the worst life ever. The truth is sad and nobody want to understand it not hear it because the truth hurt. It's not hard. Players don't care about diversity. Not that they are against it, they just don't care. So when you comprise gameplay and storytelling for the sake of it, it's going to flop. People are going to note that the DEI is forced or shoehorned in and point it out. It's not the inclusion, it's the method.

To be honest, I know if I bought Veilguard, I would hate the character creator and refund it. I like Dragon’s Dogma 2 character creator because it’s extremely detailed and you can make a character that’s drop dead gorgeous or extremely repulsive.

doesn't work when the company is neglecting what should be their core audience base while simultaneously dumping hundreds of millions of dollars into games that is heavily catering towards a small fraction of their potential customers

50k ended a li'l after a week of release, now they're barely even getting 30k.

BG3 has things like afro-American elves and almost every quest interacting NPC turns out to be gay, which does turn off people who enjoy traditional fantasy settings.
It's obvious why they were shoved into the game so people call it out as such.
That was the only problem I had with bg3. I want to be friends with gale and astarion, but when they hit on my character it pulls me out of the immersion. I think they should have made it where you have to initiate those kinds of interactions.
Idk specifically about BLACK or WHITE elves but since humans, dogs, cats and horses have races I would assume elves also could. You could do shades of brown like humans or blue/elve/red elves. Or make them unicolor but its not technically woke as nature produces different races in species

The difference between bg3 and dragon age is that in dragon age its a scripted plot. In bg3 you create the plot according to your own choice.
Its also one reason I'm not a fan of people saying BG3 is an activist game that forces ideas on you, because it actually lets you decide what's in front of you. Does it have some shortcomings? Of course, all things do. The difference here is that Larian is likely to improve on those things and make something better with options for everyone that are quality rather than cycling through the same weird dialogue and what feels like forced ideas into awkward in-game situations.
Yep, having the option to go down alternate paths is perfectly fine, it should even be encouraged because player agency is king in any RPG. But when you're railroaded into something because the plot (and dev) demands it, then player choice is taken away and you're handicapped by someone else making your decisions for you, which is fundamentally anti-RPG.
Both are choose your own adventure except veilguard it doesn't have choice of any kind-
