5 amp fuse for the device you are adding, i used a 7.5 a fuse space (#16 i think) just need to use a multimeter to ensure the one you chose is switched. Easy install.
Awesome video. I did exactly what you did except I popped off the plastic instead of leaving any wire exposed. It was really easy if you just pull it off from the top. Looks super clean thank you very much!
Thank you sir! This is exactly what I needed. I was losing my mind about where I can clip in the ground, but this video saved me the trouble! Thanks a lot!
Hey Emily I’m using the 12v socket fuse, you can pick any fuse which is enabled by the ignition (I.e. not on all the time). It’s a process of trial and error. Hope this helps!
Great video. I couldn’t tell, but it doesn’t look like you have the eyesight package, right? Trying to wire tuck around the eyesight housing on my own crosstrek has me worried. Maybe I’ll just try to push the cable flush with the housing for it against the top of the windshield the way you did at the small point where the wire is exposed on the left side near your door. Thanks!
Hi Chris, yes I have the manual gearbox which isn’t available with EyeSight. I’m sure you’ll work out a perfect installation! Glad the video helped a little 😉
@@iHaveTheNFS I went for the 12V socket fuse for switched when the ignition is on. There are lots of 12V constantly powered fuses so you'll be able to find one easily!
@@devonpursel3292 Yes my dashcam only records when the ignition of the car is turned on. You could pick another fuse to have it record 24/7 but this could leave you with a dead battery if you don't drive the car all the time.
Is your dash cam linked directly to the factory Subaru Head unit through the USB port? If so then we may need to install the third-party app which came with the dash cam on the factory Subaru Head Unit?
@@sehunkimm well there's your problem! the camera clearly draws too much current. you might need to install a battery system to stop it draining the battery
@@fgardner i was under the impression that the hardwire kit stops drawing power from the battery once it gets to a certain level. i guess that was not true?
What fuse slots did you use and what amperage of fuses?

Just bought my wife a 2024 Crosstrek. Looking for good 12 V plugin cam. My main concern is running the cables
Thank you for the helpful video, this helped me figure out how to run the wires for the cleanest look 👍
Awesome video, thanks. I'm going to try this on my 2022 WRX. The interior looks very similar so I'm hoping this is a good guide.
awesome video! I want to hard wire my dash cam that has a motion sensor/ parking mode, which fuse tap would you recommend?
What about models with Eyesite? Can I put the camera in middle of windshield?
do you have installation for rear cam of crosstreks? I need help on where I could hide the wires.
Can you explain which fuses you plugged into or how you determined which fuses to plug in to?

how do you know if its a constantly powered fuse and just a regular fuse that turns off when the cars off?
@@jnnoblezaYou plug in the multimeter in the fuse slots that you want to test and turn the ignition on and off to test them.

@@fgardner what fuses did you connect the hardwire kit to? Is the dashcam always on? I'm trying to connect mine to always be on even when car is off.

did you use a couple add-a-fuse for power then? Only mentioned ground
You can run the wire down the rubber door trim so it’s a cleaner look
Amazon link is broken. What model was it?
Awesome, thanks!
What camera is it?
hey felix question. i basically did the same thing you did but my car battery keeps dying. do you have the same issue?
No mine is fine. Did you pick a fuse which is switched with the ignition? Your dashcam could be on 24/7

Nope, not true. It has nothing to stop it draining the battery.
Can you just install it for me in my car? Lol.
This model doesnt have eyesight :/
