This run is very cathartic for someone who, when first playing through this game all the way back in kindergarten, grinded the Arc Demon soul for almost three straight days. I have no idea what I did to displease the RNG gods, but that was some bullshit.
The 100% Bestiary/Item category sounds like it'd be best done farming rare items and souls together early, then getting the Soul Eater late game for mop up, since you'll grab a lot of souls by coincidence grinding items.
y'know, it's a damn shame the chaos ring doesn't spawn closer to the warp room. I'd have loved to have seen that b4e int he route, but it's just faster to buy more high mind ups. :( I'm glad I watched this to get to see how bonkers Malacoda is.
hey JupiterClimb, could you please make (or share) a comprehensible guide on Castlevania movement? I'm talking about all that dashing and cancelling, attacking mid air just before landing so another attack can immediately follow etc. Can you please link me to some site where all these tricks are explained? Thanks in advance
I don't know if it's 'Fast', but my early game hustle in casual was always to just farm Zombie souls and upsell fist weapons after buying at Hammer and converting at Yoko.
Is there a reason why you don't switch to Dead Pirate for Stolas? Since he is stuck facing forwards while summoning the Erinys, it's pretty trivial to get behind him and take advantage of the double damage. I would always do that when grinding him, at least.
Thanks so much! I've beaten this time by a little since, though I'm going to be shifting focus to a slightly different Dawn 100% category in the future - Completionist. All Souls, All Weapons/Armor/Accessories, All Items, and 100% map. I think that'll end up as an even more interesting category, even if it takes like 6+ hours lol
If you mean before he fought Malphas, I believe if you get Doppleganger as your FIRST ability soul (so not getting Balore), you automatically obtain Malphas.
I read I think on the wiki or gamefaq that if you start the game with an aria of sorrow copy in the GBA slot, the file loads with a free rare ring and some other items.
It's a vanilla glitch. If you watch, he's using Axe and later Cutall's specials to temporarily teleport off screen, then opening the menu to use the magic seal practice to force a screen transition while he's off-screen. There's more to it, but the tl;dr is that he's tricking the game into putting him in different rooms and using that to skip over to the Abyss early.
So basically there's this interesting exploit/glitch where getting a grey ability soul before getting balores soul will give you balore and double jump, so skipping straight to the garden let's you get the doppelganger grey soul. My guess is that it does this to avoid the player getting softlocked.
