Love the fact that Nyarly worked hard to beat the final boss, while you played smart to actually go so far as to finish the game as quickly as possible. Both of your challenge runs are amazingly done, although I am a bit biased towards yours since playing smart can go veeeeery long ways. 👍
Looking forward to 2032, when we get the Summoning Salt video giving a full breakdown of how the Nyarly Fist% Speedrun Category came to be, and how you've managed to get the time down to under 2 and a half hours.
While devil is good for all weapons ( expect for those it doesn't affect) It really shines when the weapon has multihits or its attack speed is so fast.

I really love your speedruns, they feel oddly relaxing. I think that the combination of the music, the sparce commentary and your smooth voice creates a really chill experience.
That Dario fight was hysterical, dude just laughs nonstop for minutes, raising his arms at the sky and erecting useless fire pillars while Soma punches the shit out of him
Wow, the improvement between the first and last Menace fights was pretty impressive- The strategy of when to punch the spawns and when to tank them, the actual execution of the dodging and punching, it looked great on that final fight. I guess putting in a couple hours straight of fighting a boss will help you get good at all that.
I wouldnt be surprised if nyarly just didnt know about devil. he did use lubicant in the aria gun run but it seemed like he stumbled on it by accident.
I watch both Nyarly and your videos as soon as they go up, so I had been expecting this one since I saw Nyarly's. It was so funny to think about how fast you would clear this in comparison to a relatively casual player

A key difference between you and Nyarly is that you are a speedrunner, while Nyarly is more of a challenge guy. Also, even when he likes Castlevania, he's not an expert. He says as much on his own videos (the gun challenge he did in Aria was "a learning experience" for him, as he pu it). So props to you because sub 4 hours on this is absolutely insane, but also props to nyarly because this challenge looks like a fun way to experiment with the game.

He's backdashing into a short hop.
Backdashing moves faster than walking.
The short hop removes the end lag from the back dash.
