At just 21 years old, her first major hit, "Come On-a My House," catapulted her to fame, marking the beginning of her musical success. Throughout the 1950s, Rosemary Clooney continued to garner commercial success with chart-topping hits like "Hey There" and "This Ole House." Her rich, soulful voice resonated with audiences worldwide, earning her admiration and praise from fans and critics alike. She also explored acting, making her film debut in the classic "White Christmas" alongside Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. However, behind her radiant public image, Rosemary faced struggles with mental health.
The pressures of fame, personal challenges, and the demanding nature of her career took a toll on her emotional well-being. She battled with anxiety and depression, and as a coping mechanism, turned to alcohol and prescription drugs. In the 1960s, Rosemary's mental health challenges escalated, leading to personal and professional setbacks. Her marriage to actor José Ferrer ended in divorce, and she encountered difficulties in maintaining consistent work engagements. Despite these hurdles, Rosemary sought help through therapy and treatment programs, embarking on a path to recovery.
Throughout her life, Rosemary Clooney's warmth, resilience, and dedication to her craft made her a beloved figure in the world of entertainment. She used her platform to advocate for mental health awareness, sharing her own struggles to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues. Rosemary's legacy remains a testament to the power of music to heal and inspire, and her contributions to the world of entertainment continue to captivate audiences to this day. Heard the marriage to Jose wasn't a bed of roses. Having 5 kids in 5 years and he was somewhat controlling. Rosie had a wonderful voice and personality. Mom worked in Maysville, Kentucky and saw her once in a while. Very down to earth Rosie was and never let fame change her. A loving mother with close family ties. Wish you could have stayed with us longer. RIP Rosie. ❤

We had tickets to see Rosemary in person at the Carpenter Center in Long Beach when she became ill with cancer. Sadly, the concert was cancelled and we got refunds. I would have preferred to see her in person. Such is life. We lost the opportunity to hear her sing and shortly after that we read that she had died from the cancer. I will aways regret not seeing her sing in person.

As a Rosemary Clooney fan since I was 8 years old...there are a couple of things that were mentioned which are incorrect...Rosemary was married twice to Jose Ferrer first time was July 13, 1953 and she had five children (in just about that many years) with him - three boys & two girls: Miguel (born 1955), Maria (born: 1956), Gabriel (born: 1957), Monsita (born: 1958) and Rafael (born: 1960). She divorced Ferrer the first time in 1961, mainly due to his many and constant infidelities...the second time they married was on November 22, 1964, but the marriage crumbled again when Rosemary found out Ferrer was cheating on her with the woman who would become his last wife, Rosemary divorced him for the last time in 1967, Her second marriage was to Hollywood dancer, Dante DiPaolo in 1997 (they had no children) they were very longtime friends who met before she married Ferrer while she was making the film, "Red Garters" (1954) he helped her with her dancing...also Dante was a noted dancer in 1950s Technicolor film musicals, one of them is the classic "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers"

Corrections : at 6:46 you make it seem like Rosemary and Dante DiPaolo had two children together ? That is definitely not true.
Rosemary's five children (Miguel, Maria, Gabriel, Monsita, Rafael) are all five from her first husband, Jose Ferrer. (Besides, Rosemary never wanted more than five). - For those who are interested to know more about Rosemary Clooney's life and her career, I strongly recommend reading Rosemary's autobiography books : This for Remembrance" and "Girl Singer" (both available at any reputable bookstore).
Then you claim "In 1968 Rosemary married Dante DiPaolo", which is not true either : on November 7, 1997 (!), Dante and Rosemary were married at St. Patrick's Church in Maysville, Kentucky.
    - - -
I hope that this has cleared up any inaccuracies..

She was very sweet, and stunningly beautiful. Do you know what the cause was for the weight gain? The body alone can do some terrible things to females as they age. Pls improve your research or pull up your research team. Rosemary Clooney was one of 5 children in her family which incidentally also consisted of her brother Nick Clooney father of George Clooney.
She married & divorced Jose Ferrer twice with whom she had 5 children. She married Dante di Paolo in 1997 being nearly 69 then with no issues unless you want to argue she could conceive at that age leave alone having 2 children with him.
She had an affair with her drummer in 1967 shortly after her second divorce with Jose Ferrer which lasted all of 2 years & didn't yield any children.
