Dang. Idk how you’re able to consistently upload such vast, varied and challenging music at such a pace. If you told me this channel was actually a small group of pianists it’d still be impressive.
Fun fact: Schubert himself exclaimed this composition was beyond his playing ability, making this by far the most challenging of his solo piano works in technical facility.
Yeah, especially thw 4th movement. Rhe piece is such a MAS TER PIE CE
Thanks Erik. I'm always enjoying your channel so much.
@Franz Schubert Lol. I don't think many people understood the pun.
Traum is by far the best pianist on RUclips who uses visuals.
this was the one video i had hoped to be earlier than you sir

Indeed.
No joke

Approved
I would lose all faith on me playing your 6th Hungarian Rhapsody if you didn't appeared, by the way wussup bro
Impressive. I might not be depressed anymore because of Traum's amazing playing.
Time to finish Piano Concerto op. 18 no. 2 my friend
I love it how you're just casually joking about depression
Please, stop scrolling down and enjoy the beautiful music.
Lmao
30 people have been caught, including me. I have heard this piece many times before, I now know a lot more history of this piece by a comment on this video so I will most definitely just listen to it right now.
lol
Congrats on 30k! Familiar title, not sure if I heard it before. It does look tricky, even more with the length. Amazing job!
This piece is extremely underrated, especially considering it’s historical significance and legacy. I’m pretty sure the idea of thematic transformation originated with this piece (if not this then one of the Beethoven Sonatas since Schubert loved Beethoven so much). What I do know, however, is that Liszt got a hold of this Fantasy and was very much in awe of it. The result of this was the birth of Liszt’s B minor Sonata and both his Piano Concertos. Additionally, thematic transformation (or organic development as I like to call it) is very prevalent in Symphonies such as Tchaikovsky’s 5th and Saint-Saens’ 3rd Symphony and his 4th Piano Concerto, among other works. I very much like the concept of organic thematic development. Being able to manipulate a theme to fit the mood or context of the moment. For example, in Saint-Saens’ 4th Piano Concerto, the main theme is heard all throughout the work but hidden away on solo instruments drowned out by the rest of the orchestra and piano until finally, the main theme is heard in the second movement played all alone by the piano in all its glory, almost as if it had been waiting for the right moment to appear and when it finally does appear the whole orchestra joins in and the theme carries us to the conclusion of the Concerto. All of this, if I’m not mistaken, originated with Schubert’s Wanderer Fantasy in some way or another.
I didn't know Schubert liked Beethoven a lot. I thought he didn't like him, or even hated Beethoven because Schubert as a composer was in the 'shadows' of Beethoven (as a composer).
@@mariedagoult1 no, Schubert absolutely adored Beethoven. In his final will he stated that he wished to be buried next to Beethoven and there he lies today in Vienna's Central Cemetery right next to Beethoven's grave.
@@e.hutchence-composer8203 oh wow I didn't know that
Let's also mention that Liszt wrote a transcription of this Fantasy as a concert piece with Orchestra that perfectly fuses Liszt's and Schubert's style into one of his best transcriptions of any work.
@@mariedagoult1 he hated and loved beethoven, he loved beethoven as a composer but also hated him because Schubert was hardly recognized in his life from being overshadowed by beethoven
Traum just cured my tuberculosis with this performance!!

The last note of this piece gives you a very weird feeling after listening to it. It feels like the piece has ended before and is still playing when it ended.
Yeah.
Indeed
I was watching Dmitry Shiskhin play, and the hand movements before starting the piece resemble TRAUM. 🤔
You liked my comment a week ago requesting this piece! You knew hahah I love it, thank you so much!! The second movement is beyond beautiful 🥺
Traum is one of the people who can upload consistently.
Damn, that introduction was crazy. Schubert knows the stuff.
Yeah sure
BRUH MIDNIGHT, MIDNIGHT OR NOT I'LL SLEEP BETTER WITH THIS, THANKS TRAUM!

Gorgeous playing, as always, by the way!!!
Maybe we'll get it one day. I mean Traum performed Liszt's B minor sonata. That thing is 30 minutes
*Fantasiestücke
I love Schubert!
Wonderful!
🌙 This is one of Schubert's favorite piano pieces. It was very impressive that he tried to have the same effect as the orchestra with piano solo like Liszt did in this song. I was surprised that Traum's interpretation was so fitting to my taste. I used to be obsessed with your performance, but this time I was strongly attracted.
THANK YOUSOOOO MUCHH TRAUMMMMM THE WEWANTWANDERERFSNTASIE IS TRUEE THANKK YOUUUU SOOO MUCHHH!!!!
Thank YOU! 😍
BEAUTIFUL
One of my my favorite pieces, done very nicely.
🙏
You are AMAZING Traum 👏
Thank you ✌️
Not only is this a wonderful fantasy piece, it could also serve as a great etude. Could also work to increase stamina as well due to its length. Honestly, I should play more Schubert and Schumann in general.
You can't call a piece like this an etude.
If there was a search to find the world's greatest living pianist, traum would surely have to be in the running...😎🎹
와;방랑자...🙊 이제 3,4악장 기다려요........🧘♀️4악장 기가 막히게 잘 치실 듯~❣

Hello! Can you play some more Prokofiev? Dance of Knights, Mercuzio... I fell in love with your interpretation of Suggestion Diabolique!!
Every time I listen to Wanderer fantasy, it sounds like piano concerto without the orchestra
There is a version of piano an orchestra, Liszt arranged it
Traum, I believe u r a famous concert pianist 😂
I agree with you.
Yeah that's what I think too, probably even world-class
Lovely

IS THIS A DREAM?? FINALLY!!
THANK YOU TRAUM!!
Wow I love TRAUM 💘
❤️
reminds me beethoven for some reason , idk why
I can see that. Especially the cross hand play that Beethoven loved to use in his sonatas, also the single chord hammering with a harmonically pulling lick that happens around 5 min through reminds me SOO much of the C section in Pathetique mvmt 2 and I think something similar is in the 2nd mvmt of moonlight too.
Good ear! Music historians actually believe this composition was heavily inspired/influenced by Beethoven. At the time Schubert was relatively unknown and under-appreciated to the public at large during his lifetime. This fantasy was written to tap into that Beethoven spirit. Because at that time Beethoven was emerging as the foremost musician of the time and his music was largely popular.
@@ErikCPianoman oh i never knew that :) thanks!!
Schubert loved Beethoven. This was composed same year than last Beethoven's sonatas. Altough Schubert has a different aproach to the piano. Some different techniques and news harmonic modulations.
Wow you actually did it I saw someone request it in comments in previous videos... ure a monster
