I called my boyfriend who said he’ll pick me up and when I went to close the shop he called me and said there was a guy standing at the front of the store, my bf got out and told him to leave, the store is closed and the guy just left. But they all slept soundly that night because police are the good guys and they have license to commit extrajudicial executions and investigate their own accused wrongdoings. Luckily they almost always manage to exonerate their fellow officers.

Yes, the cops in the Burger Chef murders did a horrible investigation. But what is equally horrible in all three of these unsolved mass murder cases is that the cops in each of them seemed to be fixated on the idea that local people committed the crimes. Why must that be so ? The phenomenon of "the travelling serial killer" has been known for several decades. But it seems that these cops never thought about such things. They kept looking locally for suspects. It wouldn't have been difficult to send out an APB for feedback on similar crimes across the nation. Even today, now long after the FBI VICAP national crime database has been in operation, you rarely see investigators use this valuable resource to check out crime patterns in other jurisdictions. They are still fixated on the "local angle" and many unsolved murder cases and many wrongful convictions over the decades have been the sad result of this investigative neglect. ... jkulik919@gmail.com

      @stormcutter59 4 года назад +8

I've been watching these videos for a while now, kind of become a hobby from time to time lol. Most of what I've noticed with unsolved cases is that 80 percent of them seem to occur because of MAJOR police incompetence. You have to come to terms that police bussiness is just another job to a lot of people who work in it. Meaning you will find incompetent people within the line of duty just as you would at any other workplace. It's a tragic thing but true. And quite maddening given the circumstances surrounding their job. I would have shut the place down no problem, but some lazy asses would rather not bother in the middle of the night

Thanks for covering the Dryfuse case, these were my relatives, I was 1 year old when they were murdered. Info I've got from my family who went to the trial was, Jake (husband of Bonnie) left for his first day of work, he previously didn't have a job but had just got hired. While he was gone Bonnie and her kids and her niece were getting ready to leave to go swimming with the nieces mom, Bonnie's sister. She was talking to her sister on the phone telling her they were just about to leave so her sister was going to leave to meet them at the pool, but Bonnie noticed someone pulling in her driveway, so she told her sister she'd see her in a few Mins and hung up the phone, but Bonnie and the girls never showed up, just then Jake came home from work and called the police. Witnesses had said they'd seen Kimball walking down the street with what looked like blood on his clothes, also when the police were investigating the home they noticed the stove burner was lit (gas stove) they assumed Bonnie wasn't cooking since she was about to leave. Friends of Kimball say Kimball would often light his cigarette using the stove burners instead of a lighter, the little girls most likely saw what was happening to their mom so they ran to the bathroom where they tried to escape out a window but couldn't get the window opened that's when the man came in and attacked the girls, he slit their throats so much they were almost decapitated. Kimball was Jake's drug dealer and speculation was that Jake owed Kimball drug money. The police did find flesh under Bonnie's fingernails which they were excited about because they thought they could get the DNA but the flesh under her nails was actually her own flesh. She put up a major fight to try to protect herself and the girls, she tried to hit the man with a chair but the chair legs got stuck in the ceiling. Finding Kimballs DNA at the house didn't mean much since Kimball had visited the home many times, but unfortunately this case will likely never be solved, because both the suspected men are dead.

He would have been covered in blood too! Plus the minute I saw the scratches on the husband's hands, I knew it was him. She scratched him trying to stop him from stabbing her. Plus unlikely that a random killer would have gone after the little girls. No sexual assault, no robbery.

The cops in the early stages of the investigation at Burger Chef must have been complete morons. I mean seriously, they thought the employees stole 500 dollars to go out and party with? Leaving the back door ajar and their purses behind? If they would have suspected some sort of foul play to begin with, the crime scene could have been properly examined.

My dad, grand-dads, and uncles were all mechanics. I’ve seen my share of hands damaged by machinery, including cars. I’ve never seen anything close to the pattern of scratches on Jake Dreyfuss’ hands. Not sure how police said he only had one spot of blood on his hands when it was under his nails and he had so many fresh scratches. It’s eerie-the pattern of scrapes looks like they were made by someone grabbing his hands and clawing at them. No swabs or nail cuttings? Either his or the victims’? DNA was being used regularly by then. Pretty sketchy.

I hate how it seems like, in the last case, the police just accepted at face value the alibi provided by the husband’s father. How did they not try to contact the mechanic when the murders first happened? At least put in a minimal amount of effort to fact check an alibi provided by the suspect’s family. Good god. The unifying theme of these three cases seems to be police misconduct, and that is just so common and so upsetting.

Dear Ghost Helwig: You have no idea how out of control crime is, especially here in America. At MurderData.org, you'll discover that 33% (1/3) of all American homicides since 1965 remain unsolved. I recently heard that in all of the UK there were about 700 murders in 2019. Just the American city of Chicago often clocks that number of murders annually. In short, American police are overwhelmed and often crimes get by them because they need to prioritize investigations as they first did with the Burger Chef murders. Also, in the 2 American cases here, the police made the usual unwarranted assumption that the suspects were local. It's unwarranted because since the Interstate Freeway System opened in the 1960's criminals can be many miles away before the crime itself is even noticed. The American murders here could easily have been committed by what the FBI calls "travelling serial killers" who roam the interstate freeways looking for their next victim. Such crimes are rarely solved, especially when the police usually don't look for suspects beyond the local area. It is not unlikely that ALL the murders here were random crimes committed by some Thrill Killer who was just passing through town. Police DO try hard to solve such basically unsolvable crimes and that's why wrongful convictions is such a big problem here in America. ... jkulik919@gmail.com

Regarding the Burger Chef murders, motive is not always apparent.
Here in Tennessee, we had one guy rob two fast food places and one ice cream shop. Killing 8 people in total. One guy survived because the killer's gun malfunctioned. So he stabbed him 17 times. The guy lived by playing dead. Iirc the killer's name was Paul Dennis Reid.
He was a sick piece of work. Only motive that he had was that he liked killing, I guess.

@D D Nope. Died of natural causes while serving his sentence. Pneumonia or something.
I am shaky on details but I am pretty sure there were several similar crimes in the middle Tennessee area around that time as well. One of them was a guy that I went to school with. He was murdered at a fish place in Nashville when he was closing up.
Reason that I recall all of this as well as I do is because my Ex-wife was a manager at a Long Johns at the time. Lots of nervy nights waiting on her to get home. LJS even provided her with a panic button to wear around her neck.

Two men “robbed” it and set fire to the office where the victims were except the girl who survived said it looked like they were looking for something in particular and left money behind.
Second, How did they knew that the door would be open ? An employee, who apparently had a drug problem, “left “ his bookbag and had to “retrieve it” that morning. He was let it and on his way out “left “ the door open.

In the first case where 8 people were gun downed , I have a feeling that the police were involved. Most of the shots hitting the victims isn’t a civilian gangster. And even minimizing the crime after?
Also, letting anyone and everyone into the crime scene? Possibly setting up an alibi? “Oh, yeah Mikey did say he walked around the scene, so just ignore his footprints. 🧐

Unbelievable. The stupidity and lack of sense of ergency from the police in the Burger Chef Murders is reprehensible. Why would 4 teens ransack their place of employment, steal the money, and disappear? Everything screamed ROBBERY AND KIDNAP. These were very intelligent, hardworking teens and that's the conclusion they came up with. Sad.

Just wondering if you’re working in cahoots with my local wildlife?!! I’d gone to bed early, but was awoken by a rather feisty exchange between a badger & a fox facing off in my garden, right below my bedroom window! I don’t know what their beef was, but they were pretty vocal about it! Anyway, after screaming at each other for a while (it seriously sounded like someone was being horribly murdered, but fortunately they don’t appear to have actually made any physical contact whatsoever), they apparently settled their differences & went their separate ways!
I got back into bed after all the excitement was over, rechecked I’d set my alarm on my iPad for 6am tomorrow morning, then *BOOM!* - saw there was a new Criminally Listed video, ready & waiting, enticing me away from my slumber! Obviously sleep must wait!
[PS: Oh great; a pair of Tawny Owls perched in my apple tree are "Hooting" away at each other now! Better deploy the headphones for the rest of this upload!]

Hi lev luv: I live in the UK, basically slap-bang in the middle of the country. I must confess that I think the local wildlife is only attracted to our garden because we’ve taken - how best to describe it? - a somewhat "naturalistic" approach to garden maintenance! If you look at each address from our lane on Google Earth, I’m afraid our garden rather sticks out when compared to all the other neatly manicured lawns & flowerbeds! So instead of admitting the truth (we’re completely lazy!), I instead imply that our choice was a deliberate decision for a nature-friendly garden!
Unfortunately, apart from the adorable fox family that’s taken up residence beneath our garage (after much excavation on their part - fingers crossed a sinkhole won’t suddenly open up due to subsidence!), several visiting badgers, hedgehogs, squirrels, frogs, toads & occasional newts in our pond, plus the large assortment of bird life visiting our feeders & several nest boxes - & the rare appearance of a random Muntjac deer! - unsurprisingly, I guess, our garden is also a total cat magnet for the entirety of the feline population in the neighbourhood!
This would be fine if they weren’t preoccupied with trying to kill practically ALL of the aforementioned wildlife! I still remember the terrible day when I was babysitting my [at the time] 5 yr old nephew, having a great afternoon observing all the various birds visiting our feeding station, when Basil (a neighbour’s black cat) suddenly appeared dragging the partially dismembered corpse of a murdered [by him!] squirrel across our lawn, then proceeded to spend the next 10 minutes attempting to haul it over the fence (presumably in order to present it as a "gift" to his owner!). The squirrel’s head was still attached, as was his long tail, but the section in between was an horrifically mangled bloody mess! Try explaining to your sister, upon her return, exactly why her son was in floods of tears after witnessing such a spectacle! Apparently, I’m no longer considered the "Fun Aunt"! [There was also the small matter of another incident when I mistakenly thought that the movie 'Krampus' might be suitable viewing for a young child on Christmas Eve... *IT MOST DEFINITELY WAS NOT!!!* I’m now referred to as "The Dangerously Reckless, Mentally-Scarring Aunt" instead - admittedly well-deserved!]

Those first three murderers executed their plan with such percision that had to have planned it months in advance. Perhaps even doing a few "mock" runs prior. No doubt, living on the "high" of actually getting away with it.. for decades. We, humans don't like the idea of anyone being able to committ murder and get away with it....but people do. More frequently than we are comfortable with.

Re: The Burger Chef murders. Did the Keystone (or rather) Raceway cops ever question any of the other employees of the restaurant? Seems to me that this would have been prudent since the restaurant was supposed to be a place where drug deals were made. Now for the cops assumption that the kids took the money and ran. This is so stupid that no more needs to be said.

As for the last case, one of the most important pieces of evidence was the phone call between Bonnie and Mary, right? It basically named the murderer. If she did say "Jake" and not "someone", it could change the entire outcome. But it wasn't even brought up in the second trial?
Well I guess all you have to do bbn is move out of the county and you're untouchable haha.
Cops couldn't get evidence to convict? Something doesn't seem right, right? Something was seriously blundered given these facts from the video. Couldn't solve a mass murder with children stabbed to death? Come 'n man....
