There's a saying that goes...SOME HAVE THE DESIRE AND NOT THE TALENT OR THEY HAVE THE TALENT BUT NOT THE DESIRE...I think this is him in a nutshell...some people want to be something but maybe not have the talent..but they want it Soo bad?...their desire takes them far..but some have the talent but no motivation to be more than what they are...GILLIE is a cool dude it seems..but you are right...he is like a guy who wasn't very good at basketball, but he became a great coach.. because his calling was to teach from a different angle...I salute Gillie for his perseverance...

Yeah his arrogance would’ve gotten in his way even if a label did push him, I liked Gillie as a rapper but when the dvd era came and the behind the scene side of rappers was exposed he was too cocky when he spoke of himself. Like calling himself the King of Philly without a full album project to back it up, him going at Wayne after giving Wayne his style didn’t work in his favor because hearing him rap after Wayne popularized the style it made him come off corny even tho the style originated from him, I think him even being a ghost writer stunned his growth also. Another thing the beefs and him in the streets played a part too, after cash money he was more known for pulling up on Cassidy block than he was music. I’m glad he prospering right now with his podcast as a rapper he was a talented problem.

He was like a Tweener.... not really a street artist.. not really a flashy artist... not conscious... not a ladies man... not really super lyrical even though he did have top tier cadence.. but most importantly no mixtape presence... at that point if you wasn't on the mixtape circuit you was done

So RuffNation paid them to re release that same independent album with a few new songs and it didn't do well cuz we all already had it. Gillie signed a solo deal with suave house after that.
