watching the 7 hours of character creation vod rn XD heard you asking why bunny girls get the hot starter clothes and i didnt see anyone in chat answer, figure its fine to put the answer here since theres no where else to put it really, but the starter Bunny GIrl clothes are a reference to FFXII, 12 is more normal, single player jrpg, tho it plays kinda mmo-esque compared to other jrpgs, and theres bunny girls in it too and one of them is a party member, the bunny girl starter clothes in 14 are literally just what that character wears in FF12

The thing about any casters in FFXIV that people seem to never mention... Slide Casting... Basically, during the last second of your cast you can find a sweet spot where you are capable of moving without cancelling the cast. It's all tied to the way the server ticks pan out. This sounds like it's not much, but for a caster being able to effectively inch yourself around a boss arena between casts will allow for you to position yourself as needed to either support another player who has moved or simply have an easier time avoiding getting hit.
Once you master Slide Casting, all the casters become a joy to play. Personally my mains are Black Mage, White Mage, and Dark Knight.

    • @KaedysKor
      @KaedysKor 11 месяцев назад +1

For the record, while there are _some_ effects from server latency, server ticks aren't really involved at all, and it's always at least 0.5 seconds, so you can just treat it as 0.5s and be fine. Honestly, people like to assign things to "server ticks" like it's the bloody boogie man. They're a lot faster than most people think, and involved with a lot less than most people think. _Most_ things assigned to "server ticks" are in fact the result of latency (ex. the length of animation locks).

    • @bender9740
      @bender9740 11 месяцев назад

@@KaedysKor I typically can move at 0.9s. At that point the cast is locked in and going to happen, hence referencing the tick. Because despite the visual reference for how long you’ve got left it no longer matters, it’s locked in and happening.
So for the record, yeah, not everything abides by this, but any form of personal casting will absolutely allow for slide casting.

    • @bender9740
      @bender9740 11 месяцев назад +1

It’s all based on your personal latency, so the absolute earliest will vary from person to person. But still, as stated, the server has already eaten the input by that point.

Remember many jobs of the same type (tank, melees, etc) share gear other than weapon - so if you level a DRG for example, you can immediately swap your gear over to a RPR if you roll one (assuming he’s high enough level). This makes multi-classing (especially of the same type) insanely easy at max level. All tanks share the same gear, so many tank mains will play all 4 seamlessly

Dps is a great starting choice. You have no responsibility other than keeping yourself alive and your own rotation. You will see the difference in how tanks handle dungeons and if you want to be a tank you can see how a good tank does things. Same as watching healers to transition to a new role. They are all fun in there own way.

    • @dkcsi9256
      @dkcsi9256 11 месяцев назад +2

Tbh, DPS have more responsibility than tanks.
Tanks have the privilege of being monke. Turn on stance, run, aoe. Drop a couple pairs of mits in dungeon. You die with mits up? DPS weren’t killing fast enough or healer not healing. In trials/raid? Stance and smack while DPS have to do 80% of the mechanics.
Tank brain is real. Stand north and smack while DPS and healers do their synchronized dance routine then occasionally follow 4 of them to a group before going back north. Ez pz.

@@Link-kr2bcTrue. Ninja kinda has a reputation as the most complex Job in the game, which seems to be why you find very few of them in the wild in spite of them being very strong and consistent performers in raids. Anyone who actually plays Ninja will tell you that this reputation is undeserved; Ninjutsu is essentially just a flexible cooldown, it’s use cases are intuitive, and it basically just comes down to spamming high damage CDs every 60s. Their play style is really good at teaching good habits for Savage raiding and getting an intuitive feel for raid buff windows. Add to that their excellent mobility and their wide array of high damage ranged attacks, and you end up with an incredibly versatile and fun class to play. And it unlocks at level 10! A lot of groups below that level try and chase best in slot jobs like it matters without even doing the tactics and strategies that make it actually matter. I know this is a little late, but as a Gunbreaker main, I feel like he didn’t quite explain it right, as your “tank window” and “burst window” aren’t mutually exclusive, though I’d argue that it has the best base rotation amongst the tanks, since it gives you a heal and a shield on the second attack, allowing you to completely ignore damage for a much higher survivability. I’d also argue that Scholar (my main healer) is simpler than Sage, since Sage relies heavily on off-global cooldowns, and thus has a much higher APM, and Scholar has access to more consistent shields and pure heals, since it can guarantee a critical shield, and you don’t need to attack for your fairy to heal, allowing you to have wider heals for actually free, rather than all of the resources that Sage handles.

MSQ gives more than enough exp to keep up with leveling multiple jobs, dps is usually more fun to play around with for its own sake, and not-dps has MUCH shorter dungeon queues. As an added bonus, whichever job is lower level gets an exp boost!

Paladin: Good boi. Largely unkillable. Terrible job story. Lots of fancy weapons. Best invuln.
Warrior: UNGA BUNGA! FELL CLEAVE! Holm gang rise up. Big axes.
Dark Knight: Edge. Large swords with variable numbers of edges. Best and most edgy job quest. Worst, but easily most edgy invuln.
Gunbreaker: *Endless screaming or laughter depending on the situation* Cool weapon. Sweet overcoat. Broken fingers from rotation.
White Mage: Regen healer. Blood for the Blood Lily. Acts nice, secret sociopath. Suspiciously white robes.
Scholar: Escort quest. The actual healer (the fairy) just follows you around so you're mostly there to occupy space. BOOK SLAP!
Astro: It's time to d-d-d-d-duel. Used to be spreadsheet complicated, now waaaaay easier. Fancy weapon. Middle aged tarot fan.
Sage: Lasers! Shields! More lasers! Book nerds. Anime glasses adjustment as a bonus action.
Bard: I seduce the boss. Make arrows happen. Arrows get bigger and flashier as you level. Can sing in combat, and play instruments out of combat.
Machinist: I cast GUN! Armed like they're in a 90's shooter. Rocket launcher up the butt style. Pet turret that eventually turns into pet sexbot. Some real nice guns.
Dancer: Bop It the class. Help your other DPS out, or dance partner the tank as an insult. Good mobility, and easy to play.
Monk: Like playing keyboard for a prog rock band. Unlearn your GCD timings. No ranged attack. Sometimes unleash godlike powers. Largely crap looking weapons.
Ninja: Invading Area 51 with the bois. Exclusively Naruto fans. Invoker from DOTA. Will die from greeding burst windows.
Dragoon: Jump. No, higher than that. Reached the exo-atmosphere? Not bad, but you can do better. Spikey. Pokey. Almost certainly dead from greed or backflips.
Samurai: Whilst you were ERPing I studied the blade. Didn't study any party buffs, but hey, I hit like a truck. Some delightful weapons.
Reaper: Some great looking weapons. Good mobility. Extrememly flashy. Not DRK edgy, but sprinting to catch up. Personal fave.
Summoner: Easiest job? Easiest caster for sure. Summon tiny versions of traumatic god beings to slap fools. BOOK SLAP!
Black Mage: Worst levelling experience in the game. Great fun to play. Rotation changes DRASTICALLY every 10 levels from 50 onwards. Eats AoEs like I eat chicken.
Red Mage: Caster but fashionable. Explosions, followed by shanking a fool. Some fancy weapons. Back up rezzer. Generally clutch or hopeless, no middle ground.

about samurai being top dps: this is on average basis. I believe black mage has a higher cap for dps, but that is at fully optimized. samurai is easier to reach a higher dps than black mage. (and i dont really recommend leveling as black mage for the first time, but it’s good if you feel confident about specific fights and just want to dominate it.

I love Ninja’s play style that it has. Ninja can also use “Hide” to go invisible in the open world areas, so you can sneak around monsters that can overwhelm you. It was also very helping to Hide away and sneak past enemies in the Relic areas such as Eureka and Bozja, which was AMAZING!

Black Mage is arguably _more_ mobile than Red Mage - since RDM has a mandatory cast time every other GCD, while at max level Black Mage has like 5 different instant cast options, most with multiple charges, plus two slides. And RARELY does a fight make you use all of those if you know where to put yourself.

Probably too late to help, but I'll drop the list of the jobs and what expansion their from. Fair warning, this is a wall of text
Technically some of this could be seen as spoilers since I'm naming places you don't see at the start of the game, so spoiler warning if that bothers you
All the jobs that have prerequisites are starter classes that you can pick when making a character. Except for Rogue/Ninja
Just for reference, the jobs added in Heavensward (Machinist, Dark Knight and Astrologian) all start at 30 but need a job at 50 to unlock. All the other jobs added to the game start 20 levels before the cap at the time and have starting quests in easily available cities. It goes something like this:
Heavensward: Machinist, Dark Knight and Astrologian. Starts at 30 but needs a level 50 job first
Stormblood: Red Mage and Samurai. They start at 50 and need a level 50 job to unlock
Shadowbringers: Gunbreaker and Dancer. They start at 60 and need a 60 job to unlock
Endwalker: Sage and Reaper. They start at 70 and need a level 70 job to unlock
    Here's the full list
    Tanks:
    -Paladin, starts as Gladiator
    -Warrior, starts as Marauder
-Dark Knight, part of Heavensward and starts at 30 but you have to have a job at 50. The start quest is in Ishgard, which you can't access until you finish the base game MSQ
-Gunbreaker, part of Shadowbringers and starts at 60. The starting quest is in New Gridania
    Healers:
    -White Mage, starts as Conjurer
    -Scholar, starts as Arcanist
-Astrologian, part of Heavansward and also start at 30 but requires a level 50 job. Same deal as Dark Knight, the starting quest to unlock it is in Ishgard
-Sage, part of Endwalker and starts at 70. You need a job at 70 to do the quest, but the starting quest is in Limsa Lominsa
    Melee:
    -Monk, starts as Pugilist
    -Dragoon, starts as Lancer
-Ninja, starts as Rogue. You have to have a class or job at level 10 to unlock the quest, which is is Limsa Lominsa
-Samurai, part of Stormblood and starts at 50. The quest is in Ul'dah
-Reaper, part of Endwalker and starts at 70. Also starts in Ul'dah
    Physical Ranged:
    -Bard, starts as Archer
-Machinist, part of Heavensward and just like Astroligian and Dark Knight, it starts at 30, needs a level 50 job to unlock and has its starter quest in Ishgard
-Dancer, part of Shadowbringers and starts at 60. Starting quest is in Limsa Lominsa
    Magical Ranged:
    -Black Mage, starts as Thaumaturge
-Summoner, starts as Arcanist. It's worth noting Arcanist is the only class that can morph into 2 different jobs, those being Summoner or Scholar
-Red Mage, part of Stormblood and starts at 50. Quest is in Ul'dah
-Blue Mage, which is unique because its the games only "limited job" right now. That mostly means you can't do normal MSQ or instanced content as Blue Mage. It starts in Limsa Lominsa
Hopefully i put this down in such a way that it's easy to read and come back too when needed. Apologies for the wall of text if it's too much

41:30 quite on the contrary dragoon is probably the dps class with most button presses per minute apart from perhaps ninja of the melee dps'es not due to a low gcd but due to a ton of ogcd's to manage and it makes it imo also have one of the hardest opener rotations of any class in the game because it is so easy to accidentally drift "drifting" is when you misalign your gcds so they don't fit with the party buff windows which is not ideal

Play SMN (Summoner). The dopamine hit from causing utter mayhem on your screen with all the particle effects and summon animations just feels so good. It only gets better as you level and if you ever decide to pick up healing, you've got SCH (Scholar) at your same level (both SMN and SCH level at the same time, so whatever you level one, the other is the same, with that said, you still need to do the class quests to unlock stuff for both, but leveling is equal). The nice thing about SMN is that it's very easy to pick up with a rotation that is very clear, there's no shenanigans or weird tech combos you have to do (RDM actually has a lot of this, but it's only for maximizing damage, can literally make the difference but only really in cutting edge or tight spots).
Also, due to there being less Cast times on SMN, you are constantly moving, which is incredibly crucial for newer players as it keeps you on your toes as you learn boss mechanics (this is why BLM (Black Mage) is incredibly hard to level and learn but incredibly satisfying if you ever get good enough at it). You can pick up RDM (Red Mage) at 50, so there's plenty of time to make a decision, and you'll always have opportunities to level other jobs.

Warrior (starting as Marauder) is an easy beginner friendly class.
Lancer (becoming Dragoon) is an easy starter too with a bit of a similar playstyle as Reaper. Tho endgame I didn't like dragoon as much cause of the rigid rotation and the constant interweaving. Both Reaper and Dragoon share the same type of armor (like Monk and Samurai).

If I'm not playing Dancer, I'm a Sage. Dancer is fun as well as beautiful. I can do all my skills while moving nearly everywhere in the battle area; even with the step dance. It helps if there are AoE's and you have to move out of those; I love yeeting out of danger with En Vant. With all healer types, healing is priority compared to attacking. I've seen plenty of healers in a raid and they do the bare minimum; mostly resurrecting someone, but not healing them fully so they die quickly from the next attack. Resurrect/heal your tank first, then healer (if applicable), and then DPS in that order as much as possible. Also, Esuna is a must have as it can save extra healing effort by taking bleeding, poison, etc.

You may want to choose 2 jobs to level simultaneously, as a veteran player you'll get enough EXP through MSQ and Job Quests to keep up on 2 jobs through most of the game. If you play one you'll find yourself extremely over leveled (this is mainly true for servers that have the Road to 80 Buff) and that can sometimes frustrate people. It will also mean a lot of that EXP is 'wasted' if you only play one job from the start. Hell I picked up 3 jobs my second time playing through the game and almost managed to keep them all equal level with minimal EXP farming.

The only reason I cannot resurrect 5 people in 9 seconds is because there's a mana cost. But if all tanks and healers are dead, having a red mage means there's a chance the fight's not over. Summon can also instantly resurrect a player once every 60 seconds, which can still save a run.

7:23 as someone who was Gunbreaker for Abyssos/part of Anabaseios Savage prog, yeah, that's accurate.

As someone who's been playing since 2016, let me give you my (joke) rundown on each job.
Paladin: the magic tank. You heal, you shield allies, and your rotation is a strict one, but will allow you to attack from melee and ranged. It's by far the hardest job to kill, next to...
Warrior: I am a simple man. I have an axe, and I will fucking murder you with it by swinging it around like a literal beast. Also, if you hit me, I'm gonna heal USING YOUR BLOOD.
Dark Knight: I am darkness. I am depression. And I have a bigger sword than Guts from Berserk, and the Big D DPS to match it. For tanks anyway. However, lately, I am feeling rather uninspired, and have started mimicking warrior. I don't have spells anymore, even though I am the dark magic caster of the tanks. Yoshi P please give me back my shit, I was cooler and more fun to play when I could use DARK ARTS.
Gunbreaker: Hey guys, uh... I heard you needed a DPS. *party* : Uh, no, we needed a tank. *Gunbreaker* 'Oh uh, that's cool, I'll just put on some tank gear. Look! I'm a tank now!' * Party* : "uhhh... sure. Let's go.'
White Mage: 'I am your GOD and you will live and die by MY HAND! Except if they 1 shot you from full, then there's nothing I coulld've done. Now if you'll excuse me, I will GLARE the enemy to death or blind them in holy light. And also disable you from seeing shit. By the way, did you hear I now have a bell? Yeah, it plays a song called "For Whom the Bell Tolls". It's about YOU!'
Scholar: You bring this guy when you actually want to clear. Why? Because everybody who plays Scholar has a BIG BRAIN. So many cooldowns, and yet, no, they do not heal right away. Only LATER, for when the boss smacks you or shouts out your eardrums. Need mitigation? Scholar is KING. Need a party-wide srpint? SCH has it. Want an automatic healing drone of purity which YOU DEVOUR ALIVE FOR DPS? This is the job. Just be sure you don't press anything at the wrong time, or you're gonna have a bad time.
Astro: Once upon a time, I was the king of versatility. I could mitigate like a SCH. I could heal like a WHM. I had complex cooldowns which I manipulated with TIME MAGIC, but no longer. Ever since that bully Sage came along, I was forced to give up the night, and now I can only pray to the sun. But at the very least... I still activate GOD MODE and still do both things AT THE SAME TIME! Also cards. You want a card? Be nice to me. Or I will predict the time of your demise. It wasn't my fault, the stars read your fate.
    Sage: FIRING MAH LASER
Monk: "I'mma punch you in the face and breakdance all over you. And after I do my DRAGON kick, I will be punching you in the balls instead for a critical hit. FROM BEHIND. Now watch me unlock the eighth gate of death and BLITZ all over yo ass.
Dragoon: 'See this spear? Blink, and I will jump into the stratosphere, then come down as a LITERAL METEOR and IMPALE you. Also look at my DRAGON. And its eyes. LOOK AT THE EYES!
Ninja: "My name is Kakashi, 6th hokage. Pleasure to meet you."
Samurai: I am become weeb. And you will love me for how my sword can cut anything with the power of weeb.
Reaper: "It's a dog-eat-dog world. Or excuse me, soul eat soul world. My pet, DEVOUR THEIR SOULS whilst I go play Harvest Moon.
Black Mage: "This is my spot. under no circumstance will you come into my territory. If you do, I will BLOW YOU THE FUCK UP. Now watch me fireball and show Samurai what true Big dick dps is.'
Summoner: "I have a dragon. You wanna know what it does? No, you don't, because it's death incranate, for I have harvested the power of THE ULTIMATE BEING. Also a bunch of other chumps who will quite literally clap your booty, engulf you in hellfire and let me SMACK YOU WITH MY BOOK, and then summon a tornado that will tear your skin off. And if you think you can kill me, think again, for I have an IMMORTAL PHOENIX in my employ.
Red Mage: (I'm gonna be serious for this one) It's great in single target. Amazing in raids where you don't have any adds. But in dungeons... it's trash. Not in terrms of DPS, no. In terms of gameplay. RDM has the WORST AOE rotation IN THE GAME. It's so boring that tanks and healers have a more interesting AOE rotation, and doing damage in AOE as a RDM is extremely clunky and counter-intuitive. It was horrible in SHadowbringers, and they tried fixing it in Endwalker, but it was a band-aid on a leaking fish tank. In Stormblood, you had only 1 AOE GCD. and it was more fun than this shit. Why? Because in AOE, you don't have procs. At all. In single target, you have to always keep your mana imbalanced, but in AOE, it has to be the same, and it works against one another so badly that you might as well start headbutting a wall for an hour so you stop thinking about how badly designed the AOE is. (you literally have to spam the same 1-2 for 2 minutes straight, and you're a DPS, not a tank) Enchanted Moulinet can go die in a fire, and they'd better give Impact back to the single target rotation where it belongs. Easy fix? Give them a button that makes their single target skills become AOE, and remove all other AOE abilities. Except Contre Sixte. Literally the only good AOE skill in the kit. #RDMwasbetterinstormblood and you're an absolute masochist if you take this into a dungeon. Bring SMN instead, it's AOE is godlike, because its AOE IS ITS SINGLE TARGET.
Bard: I used to be the god of DPS when we were fighting a superintelligent AI robot inside its own simulation of reality. But I was so popular, amd machinists complained so much, I got my booty clapped, and now I'm honest again. I swear. Just... don't interrupt my songs. Your DPS numbers will cry otherwise.
Machinist: Having just a gun didn't work for 4 years, so I brought a bunch of other weapons, and now everyone loves me. Also I got into hiphop and people with bad connections hate me for it. Have I mentioned I play chess? Yes? Well, to get all my other weapons, I sacrificed my bishop and got a queen for it. Except the queen is disabled, she doesn't have eyes in more than one direction like my bishop did. ...I miss my bishop.
Dancer: this ho is coming to collect. ANd I'll do it WITH MY SEXY BIUTT. Also I have magnet hands, so come on over and show me your dragons. I'll give them a little "boost".
(thank you for reading my cringe jokes)

If you want to eventually be a reaper you should start as a lancer since dragoon and reaper share gear appropriately called ‘maiming gear’.

I will say, I was a dps main/tank OS in WoW. I did what you're doing when shadowbringers came out. I got CE in WoW and felt like I had finally finished my goal.
Dps in FF14 is really fun but OH MY GOD PALADIN TANK SLAPS. It's so fun. Like a 12/10. You have enough utility to put a Prot Paladin to shame. I love having ALL THE BUTTONS. For every situation, every hurdle, Paladin has a button for it.
Gunbreaker is a close 2nd for me. Gunbreaker has a LOT of weaving off GCD skills between your primary rotation. High APM, great damage and survival, just not as much utility as the Paladin.

Samurai is top personal dps, but it doesn't really matter in FF. Also, that benefit disappears if you don't have other classes to give the party raid buffs. 4 SAM will not make up for the buffs that three other dps classes will bring. You really shouldn't worry that much about "top dps" - it's more about how you play.

My Boyfriend does the rabbit thing as a ninja as a Hrothgar because he finds it cute. While for me I just hold on my Fashion Accessory Parasol and dance with it instead as a Angelic Hrothgar XD

Just one thing about his guide that bothers me. A very simple detail that matters very little, but I think should be mentioned.
Scholars use Codices. Summoners Grimoires. Their shared initial class, Arcanist, uses Grimoires as well. You can't use a Codex as Summoner nor a Grimoire as a Scholar.

    Just a heads up
Most former wow players, they are 80% tank, 15% melee dps, 5% phys range
Its like they are allergic to magic/healing
Races they play, majority is lala and roegadyn, ive met 48 wow players, 2 were catgirls, the rest were lala and roes
    There are other choices

@@JustRuss cus they don't want to heal, or use casters
One of them replied with "I don't play healer cus I don't want the party to wipe and be the cause of it and have people yell at me"
It's understandable because in wow, party wipe blame the healer
Ff14, party wipe, redo it again but better

All these jobs are fun and flashy to play at level 80+ but they all suck ass to play at level 1. Low level Lancer/Dragoon for example is very boring to play. However I think LNC/DRG would be my recommendation for a new player to start on because its job story introduces an NPC who will be important to the main story later. You can unlock and play everything though. You'll see someone with a cool relic weapon and it will completely change your priorities.
