something to think about: Lelouch using full control style of geass like "be my slave." is less over the top than it may first seem. now that he has Jeremiah on his side, he can always have those geass removed at any time. I feel like this is a part of the reason he feels like he can go all in on the geass, but I dont think it is the only contributing factor.
The only thing that is guaranteed to always make Lelouch emotional is Nunnally. As soon as he sees her alive his entire 'Emperor who is above all else' persona crumbles.
29:00
Narratively speaking: the Final boss of the series is Nunnally.
I wonder how many people saw that coming lol
At last! The Zero Requiem begins and it'll leave an unfiorgetful mark on your hearts when it'll be fulfilled! We can't wait to see your precious reaction to the one of the most amazing ending in anime history! 🙇
edit: I'm really impressed how Kenny and Montana read this show. It's really cool to watch how they understand it and how they even predict some facts. Here, especcially it was great prediction of Bismarck Geass, really funny! 😁
When I was watching this show for the first time I was a teenage and I didn't understand it at all. Only after years later in some rewatching my jaws dropped down how brilliant is this show.
Don't forget about two other amazing features from this episode:
- Best drip in anime history - Lelouch Emperor's and Suzaku's Knight of Zero suits
- Jeremiah Gottwald! True Orange Loyalty over 9000! He was the only one trying to find Nunally. He maybe failed but he's still loyal to Lelouch. Dedicated like no one. One of the best side character development and it'll be fulfilled in the end.
Thank you for your watching! The best will come and we'll all appreciate your reaction to not only what they did but also how they did the best ending in history of anime!
No one's dead until you see the bodies.
And even then Orange Boy can never die
To be fair, we saw Marianne's body.
@@mrsocko316 And Mao

"Being horizontal is one of my favorite things..." - Didn't see that... coming.
The voice actor doing Lloyd is Liam O'Brian, one of the best english va's in the industry currently.
shame he doesn't voice act in anime anymore
He also plays Illidan Stormrage in World of Warcraft. “YOU ARE NOT PREPARED!”
I had yet to realize this, despite having watched this show too many times, and despite now being very familiar with Liam O'Brian...
Oh my god. He sure is good.
I had no idea. 😮I'm so used to a deep voice! Now that you mention it, I can hear it😊
26:48 I have always thought that Kaguya liking Zero and claiming to be his future wife is a really awkward thing, but I must admit it makes this scene real tragic and adds weight to her tears.
All Hail Lelouch!!!
All Hail our Glorious Emperor
All Hail Lelouch!!!!
All Hail Lelouch
Yes Your Majesty!
All Hail Lelouch!!!
It hurts watching Lelouch act like he didn’t know Rivalz but it was the only way to keep him safe.
Triple fun facts!
1. There was a spoiler leak two months before the end of Code Geass. A magazine published thumbnail about chewing gum as part of the merchandise that would soon be on sale. Each gum included a character card which was a bonus. The thing is, each of those character cards had a line printed on it that was dialogue related to something important. The images were small, so the magazine published them thinking that they would not be seen, but the Japanese managed to decipher all the phrases and uploaded them to the internet, then the fandom translated them into English and the situation gave rise to debates, fights and speculation about it since the dialogues revealed many things. In the end, all the phrases were said, confirming that they were spoilers, except one: Kallen's.
The card said: "If you say 'I love you', I will never forgive you!" It's then presumed that it was a line that Kallen said to Lelouch and, therefore, that there was a deleted dialogue or the dialogue between Lelouch and Kallen in this episode was modified. Kallen's line reappeared in one of the character poems that were part of the secondary material, but changed and clearly alluded to the last conversation between Lelouch and Kallen: "If you had said I love you, I would have followed you to hell." There was a lot of controversy with the dialogue since the Japanese word used to express "I love you" was "aishiteru" which is an expression rarely used due to its strong semantic load to the point that it is only used between intimate lovers.
The rest of the published lines were: "People's memories are vague" (Anya, Turn 16), "I'll put an end to my brother's sins!" (Nunnally, Turn 23) and "Hurry up and go! But make sure you come back. You promised me you'll make me smile" (CC, Turn 24).
2. Kallen and Lelouch's kiss was confirmed mutual by the staff in a Newtype magazine brochure in December 2008 (I think it's obvious because in that detailed shot you see Lelouch's tongue enter Kallen's mouth and he close his eyes, letting himself be carried away by the moment). The staff stated that they were happy to have been able to follow up on the (almost) kiss from episode 7 of R2, where they didn't get to kiss. Specifically, they said they really wanted it to happen and when they proposed that the kiss take place during the reunion, they said "Let's do it!" The staff added that it was important for Kallen to know what kind of relationship she had with Lelouch. Furthermore, the ranking of the best scenes of the second season in the Newtype brochure put Kallen and Lelouch's kiss in second place and added the following legend: "Lelouch is not willing to reveal his true feelings."
3. Ami Koshimizu (Kallen's voice actress) revealed that Goro Taniguchi explained to her while recording her lines for the last conversation between Kallen and Lelouch that Kallen realized that she fell in love with him after kissing him. Therefore, she kissed him with the intention of getting a reaction from him.
Where can I find the ranking of the best scenes of the second season from Newtype? I'm really curious what other scenes people really loved. Lelouch and C.C.'s "I've never met a man like you" better be on there. If not for cockblock Kallen that could have been the #1 moment of the entire series imo.
"There was a lot of controversy with the dialogue since the Japanese word used to express "I love you" was "aishiteru" which is an expression rarely used due to its strong semantic load to the point that it is only used between intimate lovers."
This is one of the most widespread falsehoods anime fans spread about the Japanese language. It is 100% untrue. "Aishiteru" is used many times among family members too (example: Itachi to Sasuke in Naruto Shippuden, Ann Magnolia's mom saying it to her in Violet Evergarden, and even in this show's Japanese script, Lelouch says it about Nunnally more than once). I have also personally spoken to Japanese Christian theologians who exclusively use the term aishiteru when speaking about God's love for mankind in general.
You predicted quite a while ago eventually Lelouch would make this turn into using his power to demand absolute obedience.
Suzaku started to use his geass offensively, by managing his mindset and positioning himself into ‘win or die’ situations.
And regarding his duel with Bismark, its not that he couldn’t predict things, its that he couldn’t do anything about it.
I love all of the cats in videos>~< So hyped for the final Code Geass episodes
I'm glad I wasn't too late watching this premiere. Only a few more episodes left and I'm excited to see your thoughts on each revelation that's gonna happen. Also I love seeing your pets show up on the video sometimes. They're so cute!
Kenny and Montana are so smart its insane
while yes I do agree with you there but unfortunately part of these guesses has to do with the fact that they just recently watched Attack on Titan. Shame because the ending of this show is so good.
Actually, they were able to deduce the ending from SNK and because Patreon subscribers can't stop comparing SNK and CG apparently, so they were actively looking for similarities between both series. I have a friend who finally heeded my recommendation to watch CG after SNK ended and fans started comparing both endings. She also guessed the ending of CG thanks to SNK.
@@AlicentviBritannia I mean its not that crazy to guess that the main character does not randomly turn into an evil villain at the very end lmao its easy to trust he has a plan when literally nothing he is doing is in character for him
AoT is a bad copy for Code Geass.
@@sittingcrowd912 There's also the fact that in this episode Lelouch said something about taking over the world, spilling a sea of blood enough to erase every other massacre in the people's memory and the requiem - a mass for a dead. All of these is contributing to what they have seen from AoT as well.
The sword of Damocles was a Greek myth about an advisor to a King (or something like that) who somehow messed up and was on thin ice. To show him how precious his position was, the king invited him to dinner and sat him beneath a sword hanging by a single fraying string which could fall at any moment.
damocles is also a mythical roman general who was betrayed by his fellow generals and a roman goddess of vengeance brought him back to life to kill the traitors, roman generals would tell this story to officers to scare them away from cowardice
"I didn't think all these countries would be after me for making a WMD."
I'll never forget a fan's comment that pointed out that Lelouch didn't kiss his queen until he became king (or emperor). It's obvious that he doesn't tell Kallen anything because he knows that by doing so she will want to get involved in Zero Requiem, if she can't convince him to find another solution that doesn't involve his death. In the worst case, she will die, either by sentence or during the final battle. In the best scenario, she must go into exile or go to prison. And he doesn't want that. Nor is he selfish enough to ask Kallen to betray her people, her ideals and principles so that she would stay with him. What is curious is that he doesn't dare to lie to her as he will do to Nunnally later, but rather he remains silent. There's even a close-up of Lelouch biting his lip when Kallen asks him what he was planning. He was suppressing the urge to talk to her.
Lelouch wants Kallen to be part of the new world he is about to create. Additionally, he wants Kallen to fulfill her dreams (according to Kallen's profile on the series' old website). Lelouch wants her to live for herself since he realized that she has always lived for others: the Japanese, her fellow resistance members, her friends, her mother, Lelouch himself. In fact, Kallen confirms that she went to protect him that time in Kaminjima (and she stayed by his side) because he can fulfill her brother's dream and she is willing to return to him. Kallen got to know Lelouch well enough to suspect that he has a plan that could benefit everyone. Up to that point Lelouch had reformed the power structure in Britannia, abolished the aristocracy and the number system, just as he had put down rebellions and liquidated opponents, even stopping a coup d'état.
Lelouch only establishes himself as dictator and declares war on the world after his encounter with her by kidnapping members of the UFN. And then Kallen decides to give up the man she loves to do the right thing. Sadly, Kallen discovers that she has fallen in love with Lelouch by kissing him. Likewise, Lelouch abandons his last chance to give up everything and have a normal life for the greater good. In the school fireworks scene in episode 7, it is implied that he wants a normal life with his loved ones. When Kallen kisses him, Lelouch kisses her back and Nunnally's theme plays. Lelouch said in episode 11 that his love for Nunnally gave him power. Therefore, Nunnally's theme is a love theme, and the fact that it plays shortly after Kallen asks Lelouch again what she means to him, the music fills the void Lelouch leaves with his silence. He loves her. That hard choice, that selfless sacrifice, is what makes them heroes, although he still has one more test to overcome.
I like that the series isn't afraid to give us a foreshadowing of the end when Lelouch declares that to rule, you need the will to destroy the world and oneself. I can't wait to see your reaction to that great scene, as well as the cryptic conversation between Suzaku and Lelouch. Zero Requiem is for everyone, including Lelouch himself. It's an atonement wish from both Lelouch and Suzaku. It's to fulfill Euphy's dream. It's to grant Nunnally's original wish. It's to show his selfish parents the right path to achieve world peace. It's for Rolo. It's for his friends. It's to end the cycle of hate. It's for humanity. But we'll get to that.
PS: Before Schneizel blew up Pendragon, Nina was captured by Lelouch's men. Milly was hiding her at school because countries were chasing her for creating the bomb and she only came out of her hiding place to take Rivalz who went to try to talk to Lelouch.
Always great to see your comments. Glad to see other people have been (over)thinking about this series for too long
I would also love to know your opinion on the nature of the Collective Consciousness and the nature of Geass. To me it seems like all Geass is always a mental ability. This is why the use of Geass is also shown as changing neurons.
Lelouch --> Make people obey
Mao --> read minds
Charles --> rewrite memory
C.C. --> make people love you
Bismarck --> seeing the actions/decisions another person is about to take
Rolo --> halt the perception of time
Marianne --> change consciousness to a different body
In Akito
Shin --> make people kill themselves (subset of obedience imo)
Leila --> connect minds
Re;surrection
Swaile --> make people perceive others as their enemies
Shamna --> [this is the only one that seems to somewhat break the trend as it may not be solely about consciousness. It seems her consciousness travels in time. However as her Geass is also somewhat corrupted due to the breaking of C's World. This may have to do with Code though. As Code does have more physiological effects (such as immortality and regeneration). First her Geass seems to just have been future vision (which also does not seem purely a mental ability, though it could work by the collective experience of the the combination of conscious actors). This combined with a broken Code could combine into her consciousness also regnerating.
The Collective Conscious also may have a temporal dimension. It is not only the collection of the consciousness of all living people, since Charles & Marianne said that the dead would rejoin the living implying that their consciousness was still connected to the Collective. This is also implied by C.C. when she says she'll meet Mao there again. If the Collective Conscious is a combination of all human consciousness past, present, and future, it could explain the temporal abilities we see. Perhaps Bismarck's ability to have some future vision is also temporal instead of mental in nature. The fact that in Akito there is a represenatation of the Collective Conscioussness known as 'the Caretaker of Spacetime' also implies a temporal connection. The caretaking of 'space' may also be how the resurrection works.
My personal theory is that the Collective Consciousness of living beings in the universe are the core of the Code Geass Universe which manifests reality itself. The fact that Charles appears to want to change the nature of reality through C's World seems to align with this. Geass would then be the ability to access power through the Collective Consciousness. Code would then be a status that makes one more closely integrated into the Collective Consciousness. Bestowing Geass, some telepathy with people also more closely connected through the Collective Consciouss (those with Geass, who are Geassed or with Code), and the ability to show hallucinations/access memories, etc. The second and third of these are also related to connecting consciousness between individuals. Additionally Code gives some ability over matter with the resurrection and regeneration of the wielder, but also with C.C. & Lelouch in Re'surrection.
28:50 Code Geass is really one of the few series that is able to constantly drop great twist cliffhangers all the way. And they all make sense and you NEED to keep watching.
Funnily enough, there is somebody with a geass to look like another person, voice and everything, that was involved in this same course of events.
Big brain callouts for sure too
Though in this case its just Nunally. Sayako was the one who schneizel said got away so she really did find her in time
Orpheus? But his Geass doesn't work if seen from camera, which everyone in this episode saw Nunnally through video transmission. Beside that, it wears out after 5 minutes, and has cooldown.
yeh, but I just thought it was kinda funny since it was mentioned by coincidence. Definitely some limitations on him for sure.
One of the most hype moments for me, when "the master" starts playing. Amazing episode
"Suzaku, Lelouch Vi Brittania commands you: LOCK IN"
The Plot and the Characters was really turning over and over 🥶
Kenny truly is a genius
In another life Lelouch and Kallen might have ended up together, but Lelouch has a much bigger purpose to pursue.
I just watched their reaction to the Finale of this Series on their Patreon and boy, was it something o_o
Without being specific, did they like it? And did they think it was a better execution than the AoT ending which was very similar to the CG ending but somehow failed to fully commit to that ending by robbing Eren of all agency by just making him a slave to "fate/Ymir/his base desires"? If Eren would have committed completely (instead of crying at the last second about how powerless he was) the AoT ending would be so much better and the outcome could still be the same. You can still show that Eren is remorseful without having him go out like a total wimp. Not saying that he didn't deserve to go out like a wimp, considering what he did, mind you. I just hate how inconsistent Eren is at the last second, it annoys me so much. It's just not satisfying imo.
@@Jakokokoroko All I'll say is they said they loved CG's ending, and definitely talked about how it measures up to AOT, BUT i also feel like they wont want me spilling their content early so sorry :x, maybe someone with less of a conscious will get into specifics
@@UnconvincingX Don't worry, just hearing that they liked it is good enough for me.
@@JakokokorokoI'm also just as curious as you as to what they thought of the end of Code Geass, being die-hard SNK fans. A friend of mine watched CG after SNK and was able to deduce the ending of CG because of the comparisons fans made between both endings. However, she admitted that CG's ending is better executed than SNK's. She often complains about story endings and that time she told me that she didn't have anything bad to say about the CG ending. The ending doesn't matter if you don't understand or live the journey, you know? I also became a spoiler for the ending of CG and, even so, I cried for two hours straight the first time I saw it. Either way, I won't get my hopes up. I feel like Kenny and Montana continue to treat Lelouch as a villain just like Light, even though he has proven to be a tragic hero like Eren. I don't know if it had the same emotional impact on them as many of us.
@@AlicentviBritannia I think Eren is more of a tragic villain than hero, tbh, and Kenny seems to have pretty rose-tinted ideas about him.
I'll say that it'd take a lot more time thinking and analyzing to really get to how different/better CG's ending is. Like, Lelouch didn't succeed just because his world or story is "less dark" than Eren's, but because he was clear on what he wanted to do, created frameworks for the future like the UNF and the many people following his plan after his death to ensure peace, meanwhile Eren planned nothing after his death and left behind the Yeagerists and a devastated world. But it'd be hard to really get all this from a first time reaction.
These predictions are becoming suspiciously accurate, but i'm still here for it. xD
also the future vision geass also explains why he sealed his eye shut, i mean there are several reasons
1. with a power like that its easy to rely on it but if you rely on it for combat you will lose your edge because youre not listening to instincts etc so you become very much dependent on that power, but if you keep it shut it becomes a HUGE boost in those situations where you absolutely need it
2. the way the future vision is animated it would be super disorientating in every day life
What happens when suzaku's live command activates is it changes his patterns. A different pattern from what was shown to bismark before bismark activated. In a way bismarks geass shows future based on the intention of the person opposite to him. Suzaku knows he will die when he goes head on to bismark. But still goes there and then live command activates and he makes a move that cuts him and his sword in half
A light is born at The World's End...
Thats why she called Mariane the Flash
The ending of this episode holy moly waka moly 😨
the story of damocles:
a greek king whose name i can never remember was envied by one of the people at his court: damocles, damocles told the king how fortunate he is, all the wealth a man can dream of, an empire at the tips of his fingers, the king offered to switch places with damocles which he obviously gladly accepted, but the king hat hung a sword above the throne, heald up by a single horse hair so damocles could never enjoy his wealth and power because the danger hung literally above him.
its a metaphor that those on the top have power and wealth but they are also the people with the most to lose and since they have a giant target on their back there are plenty of people who would gladly backstab them to increase their own power nowadays its more used as a symbol for fate/impending doom

It's so interesting that obedience to authority and social darwinism is so engrained in Britannian culture that almost the entire imperial military apparatus aside from a couple Knights of the Round and members of the royal family just submitted to Lelouch without Geass.

So, they've finished on Patreon, we can talk about that prediction Kenny made, right? Half right, but missing the part that ties it together

@@camilovega8328 Fair point, I guess it might be about the phrasing Lelouch used and the Geass command itself. This part of the series just gets so crazy. All the twists and turns. It's just fantastic.
Also, I burst out laughing when you both saw Nunnally.
In previous videos I've commented on Lelouch's potential love interests. This time I think it is time we discuss Kallen.
Kallen has been by Lelouch's side both knowing and unknowingly. Both as a student at Ashford and as follower of Zero. She's always had a strong admiration for Zero. But after learning Lelouch was Zero, her resolve was shaken. Shaken bad enough that she abandoned him to Suzaku. But after rejoining him is Season Two, she slowly regained her trust and admiration for him. And perhaps even started to love him. However, for Lelouch to truly love Kallen, he would need to devote himself to the path of the Rebel. The path of resistance. And he was always a Prince, who sought more than rebellion.
Also, I'm convinced that Kallen would have joined Lelouch if he had simply asked her to. And that's why he kept his mask up.
Someone needs to stop Kenny LUL he is too smart. One of my top animes ever i cant believe its this old now. We need some more animes like this nowadays.

Do you guys have any plans to watch the alternative ending🙏🙏😭
ending isn't really alternative, it just goes deeper than Classic but has enough changes to be deemed a different timeline
There are no alternative endings. I assume you mean the alternate universe whose ending is as deep as a puddle of water. I don't think they see it. CG didn't have as much support as their other series and they also have a very busy schedule. Better this way. The alternative universe destroys all the narrative bases of the series to force a meaningless and absurd ending just to please a certain sector of fans who care more about their fantasy than the story. What we are seeing is the ending that the creators wanted for their story. This is what they have declared.
@@AlicentviBritannia Alternative time line is for this part of fandom who love this character more that good story. When I have 15 years i want this. Now when I am after 30 this timeline ending is better but I love that we have this 2 endings. This is batle betwen brain amd heart.

Looking back at this, this is more or less an inferior version of AOT ending. Things happen suddenly, logic is often shoved aside, lines are cheesy and scenes are dramatic. It is just that this show came out first which is why people have cemented this to be an incredible ending in their heads. I am not saying that AOT ending doesn't have its flaws. But if you liked how Code Geass ended, AOT ending must also be liked by you. Y'all just love having your blood boil.
Lelouch made his own plan, Eren was basically a tool of fate as he said he looked into the future and couldn’t change the outcome.
Lelouch planned everything from his side, his opponent's side and even what the UFN will do in the future. He mad moves after planning it all out. Eren couldn't even tell if his friends would die or save his mother in his hackwired. Get out of here.
