That bit where Superman stops Raven from killing herself is like perfect Superman writing. What’s sad to think about is flash is still gonna remember this. Just like he did in the first movie flashpoint paradox. Dude is gonna have some serious nightmares.
I think for me what so special about this era of DC animation is just how much love you could tell the teams had for the comics. Did they feel a little messy or rushed at times? Yeah. But after so many years of seeing comic adaptations only barely scratch the surface of their given characters - with it clear that the directors/teams have no intention of ACTUALLY bringing the comics to life - to see these films just go for broke trying to incorporate as much of the characters’ respective mythologys as they realistically could feels like the kind of love letter to comics that I dream of. This, Young Justice, the Timm-verse (except for Bruce/babs), and even Gotham are so important to me. I’m so glad that you guys were able to share the experience 🦇
This might be the hot take of hot takes but a part of me likes apokolips war more then endgame and infinity war,I love how the hopeless feel of the movie
infinity war had cool themes story and action same as endgame but at the end of the day it was still predictable childish Disney marvel story so I completely agree
@@alanscott6005 apokolips war felt more heavy in a way,the hero’s litterly gave it their all and still lost at the end,no multiverse or time travel here
I love how they make Constantine spend 2 whole years thinking he was a coward who left the woman he loves to die, drinking himself to death in regret only to find out she MADE him run as a backup because she knew he wouldn't be scared or run from jack shit when he faces the devil
I love both a lot. Raven and Gar was the og pairing. Honestly I feel like Damien fits Ravens vibe more, while still being different enough that they have stuff to learn from each other (or at least him from her). I could just be riding the emotions of these movies though 😂
A lot of people misunderstand this, but the entire timeline doesn't reset, just the past two years before the failed attack on Darkseid in this movie. It would be stupid and dangerous to reset EVERYTHING and have to fight all the villains all over again (including Darkseid's original invasion) when instead they just reset to before they attack on Darkseid, only now they know what to expect and can plan against it, even use Darkseid's spying against him. It makes more sense than restarting over completely and going in dark and just hoping everyone meets and everything works out and they win all their battles again and just hope the restarted battle with Darkseid ends in their favor this time. Plus, "Flashpoint Paradox" doesn't actually take place before "Justice League War," despite coming out after it (which is where a lot of the confusion takes place). It was Flash creating that original Flashpoint that Darkseid used as a power source to send his parademons at the beginning of this movie without the motherboxes. So if Flash goes back to stop himself to creating that Flashpoint, then past Darkseid can just use this new Flashpoint instead, so there's no stopping him from eventually coming. Rather, Flash going back allows him to give the JL the information they need to warn them against their attempted attack on Darkseid and knowledge on what to expect and prepare for what's coming. So even though we don;'t know how the war with Darkseid will turn out, this ending is meant to give us hope that it will work out.
I LOVE how they made Constantine such a MAJOR player in the main story of the end of this era and its reboot era afterward. Constantine is one of my all time favorite characters and to have him be the big major player in the end and saving of the world is SO BADASS
It's fun watching the guys accurately guess how this movie will end and what the possible options/outcomes are going to be. Which makes me look forward to their reactions to the Tomorrowverse movies. And remember... "King Shark is a Shark!"
This movie takes you for a ride and damn if it isn't a rough one. They took full advantage of that factory reset to go crazy with the action and drama. I appreciate that there's still some humor here and there so it has a few moments of reprieve.
Honestly, I’m shocked neither GL protested not bringing in the entire Lantern Corp for an assault on Apokalypse. I mean honestly, even I would’ve assumed Darkside had more Doomsdays after the first one and I’m not Superman, Wonderwoman, Batman, Cyborg, Steel or Lex Luthor. All those geniuses and nobody thought to say “Hey, shouldn’t we build up a proper army before engaging in all out war?”
Tbh it satisfies me greatly that this first battle on Apocolyps turned out not to be a one sided slaughter, but mutually assured destruction. Apocolyps was left in complete ruins and Darkseid looks like the only named character to survive this fight.
Guys guys guys, I have been enjoying your reactions to all these Justice League movies that I have to implore you guys to keep the Justice League vibes alive by continuing with the Justice League Unlimited series because it's sooo good
Justice League Dark is the perfect excuse to get more of the perfect-as-perfect-can-be casting of Matt Ryan as John Constantine, and in a leading role, as the Justice League Dark runs usually do. Constantine is easily my favorite DC character, and they've pretty much got him perfect in his recent adaptations.
I hope they watch the Batman, Superman and Justice League animated series. I couldn't tell how well they knew who John Stewart was in that one scene and I would've loved more of an emotional recall cuz that got me 😢
Damian, without doubt cuz I always kinda saw Gar as a cute little brother type - with Damian the future power couple potential is endless and I dig that shiz
To quote "When It Falls" from RWBY "There'll be no rest There'll be no love There'll be no hero in the end Who will rise above And when it ends The good will crawl The shining light will sink in darkness Victory for hate incarnate Misery and pain for all When it falls!" That being said, this movie is definitely not for me with how gleefully it revels in Grimdark.
DC has what’s called “Crisis Events”, storylines where the world gets so broken they have to reboot everything, Flashpoint was technically one of them, but usually it involves all of DC’s heroes and some villains, even across multiple realities.
if reading this: this movie got well recieved since it was primarily its own original thing then basing off of known story arcs and twist/mash them up. oddly enough this became a concept idea to kickstart the dc absolute comics.
will add one conceot they did take from the comics is futures end. a future where batman created brother eye and it created nanobots to infest ppl and turn them into cyborg zombies, kinda like what happened to those that got turn int darksied cyborg monsters. also futures end officially made batman beyond part of main continuity of comics.
Trigon is the embodiment of destruction, so when He was "gifted" Darkseid, it meant essentially an endless war with a god. Which is something Trigon lives for. There couldn't be anything more enticing to him. So as a thanks he released the daughter that gave him the most precious gift of them all and allowed her live out of the few years their existence had. In a very weird and fucked up way it is also very touching that Trigon being the embodiment of hate and destruction can express (even as little as he has in the final moments) such emotion. Kind of a miracle really... :D
Darkseid manhandled Trigon and like 3 other equally powerful demons very recently! It’s how the new Absolute Universe starts. Darkseid goes to hell and defeats Trigon, Neron, Blaze and The First (tbh I always considered First above Darkseid), then barely beats Eclipso with a trick (boom tube into a sun, creating light). Eclipso is freaking Spectre level (he was first Spectre who was too violent so he ends up in team hell). Seeing as Bizarro one shot killed Trigon a few years ago I guess it makes sense Darkseid also gets power crept to stupidly high levels. Like… Darkseid beating Trigon/Neron/Blaze makes sense to me. But not together! Throw in First of the Fallen and Eclipso and I’d expect them to curbstomp Darkseid. But no he beat them all.
in the comics during new 52 lex was part of the justice league after events of forever evil when earth 3 crime syndicate (check out the movie crisis on two earths to get an idea, need convincing? james wood voices owlman) invaded their earth.
42:30 honestly don’t remember much about ravens power but I do know it’s 2 fold. She first has the power of her demonic blood which she uses when she gets angry The other is the power of the witches of Azarath where her and her mother fled to escape trigun. If I’m not mistaken they had healing powers. You do have one more dcau film left. It is a Constantine film set after the events of this film. It show Constantine’s punishment for telling the flash to create another flashpoint. Also really need to get into the elseworld film after this, there basically dc”s version of what if just full length films. You have everything from Batman vs cthulhu in “the doom that came to gotham” to what if Batman was a actual vampire and Superman was the son of Zod in “Justice League: Gods and Monsters”. Also got a few that just what if Batman was set in the 1800s or 1930s . Both pretty kick ass films Side note even if the story would be grim I’d love to see a follow up to this story. A flashpoint doesn’t change this worlds future but creates a new one so this timeline is still on going. Even if the world is set for destruction I want to see the one left pick of the pieces and try to rebuild. Possible gather the survivors and travel to a new planet to start over. Would’ve been a kick ass origin for a new dc future timeline seeing that that series in particular isn’t great. Which imo is mostly due to them having to split the focus between the future legion superhero’s of the 30th century and the original justice league meaning you got a shit ton of uneeded time travel that just doesn’t fit in most stories (if you could time travel this whole time what’s the point of creating flashpoints. Simply go back and fix everything.). If you all do continue on with the justice league future films I’d recommend just watching the first one “legion of superheros” they skipping straight to “justice league crisis on infinite earths” their the only good films out of the new ones atm.
7:56 Zatanna is a more powerful magician than John with fewer restrictions save her own faith in her abilities, so if she’s getting mauled he’s already subconsciously doing math on his chance of survival
I think she’s the ‘most powerful’ in DC when it comes down to it, but she rarely uses her powers fully. Like in Justice League Dark’s final fight (if I remember right) she gets killed, but she’s able to make simulacrums of the entire team before she dies. Her ‘fake’ self is so strong she puts up a forcefield that prevents a Presence level monster (Pralaya) from killing the team. Like think about that. She makes a clone of herself that’s so strong she can basically parry attacks from God level characters. Not like Zeus/Darkseid types but actual GOD level power. She revives at the end of the story, I think Swamp Thing enters the Tree of Life and births a new creation or something.
Fun fact: As far as I'm aware, this is the first time Darkseid and Trigon have interacted let alone fought in DC. I don't think there's actually a comic where they end up meeting as of yet
The new Absolute Universe series! Darkseid manhandles Trigon. It’s off screen for the most part (we just see Blaze and Trigon trying to appeal to Darkseid and make him stop destroying hell) but he defeats Neron, Trigon, Lady Blaze and First of the Fallen at once, then has enough juice in the tank to try to fight Eclipso (which he initially loses but then wins via a trick). I think Darkseid got a crazy big boost if he’s able to defeat all the demon lords so easily. You know the last person Eclipso, Trigon, Neron and two other demon lords teamed up to fight? Presence.
41:01 Demons run when a good man goes to war. Night will fall and drown the sun when a good man goes to war. Friendship dies and true love lies. Night will fall and the dark will rise when a good man goes to war.
Batman is one of the VERY few mortal beings Darkseid respects, even moreso because he keeps up with Superman and the like consistently without any superpowers. His unparalleled tenacity impresses him, so it's not surprising he'd put him on the Mobius Chair to overwhelm his will without completely subjugating it.
This movie is in my opinion the mos tragic movie of all time. Seeing characters die, bad characters be good fir once. I’m teared up right now as we speak
Was thinking that too. why i think ive only seen it fully once and only watch reactions after. grew up adoring DC and these crisis things are always fucking brutal.
For your next Batman film, you should try The Batman vs Dracula. Based on The Batman t.v series. For a 2005 film that one is dark and creepy but good. I like it, it's one of my favourites and I hope you guys like it too. 🙂👍
It kills me that from go no one for a second thought - "hey maybe we might be concerned with our pal whose entire system is technology from the person whose planet we are going to invade might be able to use it to spy on us?" Come on Batman - the master planner not for a second seem to think about it.
The DCAU was my ROCK I just love love loved it so much. The live action movies weren't performing and the comics were pissing me off. This universe made me so incredibly happy, I knew the title of the movie but I did not know going in that it was the END of the DCAU. I C R I E D so much. Must have watched it 10+ times in the first month. Knowing that they were "rebooting" and having a feeling that what we were going to get was NOT going to be of this quality. What’s sad to think about is flash is still gonna remember this. Just like he did in the first movie flashpoint paradox. Dude is gonna have some serious nightmares.
Batman assault on Arkham and batman/superman apocalypse next !!
I would honestly recommend reading the entire like 7 year arc that this storyline ended in the comics because it's incredibly good.
Where does it start?
This might be the hot take of hot takes but a part of me likes apokolips war more then endgame and infinity war,I love how the hopeless feel of the movie
Honestly that's understandable
infinity war had cool themes story and action same as endgame but at the end of the day it was still predictable childish Disney marvel story so I completely agree
Endgame is the worst this is so much better
@@alanscott6005 apokolips war felt more heavy in a way,the hero’s litterly gave it their all and still lost at the end,no multiverse or time travel here
I love how they make Constantine spend 2 whole years thinking he was a coward who left the woman he loves to die, drinking himself to death in regret only to find out she MADE him run as a backup because she knew he wouldn't be scared or run from jack shit when he faces the devil
This movie is pretty good but I can't deny that it absolutely traumatized me lmao
16:20 i love this moment 🤣✨️
4:06 Hey! I’m from Mississippi! And you’re absolutely right
19:32 the Green Lantern Corps home world is called oa so basically he going after the Green Lantern Corps.
38:55 BEHOLD!! THE POWER OF FOUR EYES!!!
Behold the power of TWO HANDS !!
@@190mohammedyasin6 This one understands.
craziest thing is thats not even darkseid, its just an avatar for darkseid
I love raven and gar just as equally as Damian and raven
I love both a lot. Raven and Gar was the og pairing. Honestly I feel like Damien fits Ravens vibe more, while still being different enough that they have stuff to learn from each other (or at least him from her). I could just be riding the emotions of these movies though 😂
This movie was one of the most shocking and best animated dc movies
Batman’s suit is giving Batman Beyond vibes 🔥
Oh, absolutely, it even has the bat disc shooters in the wrists.
(At 5:38) Raven: Etrican?
Etrican: Hi, auntie.
"He was my brother" 🙌
Starfires death is fkng brutal
All of them were crazy brutal
Yeah this is the darkest DC movie I’ve ever seen. It did not pull its punches and it didn’t end well for anyone.
When I first watched this movie I won't lie, most of the time I was screaming "NO!" and everyones names.
still love how they barely won because Batman had a backup plan of making sure Constantine survives
I'm hoping for justice league the animated series next. Most episodes are like smaller movies split in 2 or 3 episodes anyway.
And I feel they need to do stuff like that before crisis anyway and if they watch it and unlimited then they can watch the fatal 5 movie
15:03 John calling Boomerang Convict actually has a double meaning. Australias was a prison island where the English sent prisoners.
Of course, in an apocalyptic scenario with no hope of survival the freaking suicide squad is thriving!!! Love this movie!
Tbh it satisfies me greatly that this first battle on Apocolyps turned out not to be a one sided slaughter, but mutually assured destruction. Apocolyps was left in complete ruins and Darkseid looks like the only named character to survive this fight.
The Real Lesson Here: Don't let Superman Cook!
Guys guys guys, I have been enjoying your reactions to all these Justice League movies that I have to implore you guys to keep the Justice League vibes alive by continuing with the Justice League Unlimited series because it's sooo good
"I feel bad for Flash...."
"Are you shaken? There is so much worse in store..."
I couldn't tell how well they knew who John Stewart was in that one scene and I would've loved more of an emotional recall cuz that got me 😢
This is my favourite of this DC animated movie universe.
This movie it the reason Constantine is one of my favorite DC characters
The Tommorowverse is the new universe that follows these movies if interested! Not connected tho. Starts with Superman: Man of Tomorrow
Besides Constantine: House of Mysteries.
Batman branding Superman with a Kyptonite Symbol of Hope is just like him
42:00 John is rlly that guy fr
(At 42:59) Let's be honest, Who do we ship Raven with? Damian Wayne (Robin) or Garfield Logan (Beast Boy)?
I like BB/Raven enough (like a first love) but Damian/Raven felt more well connected
I love Damian and Raven in this Universe. I wasn't expecting this pairing but it was very well done
Damien/Raven, no question
Damian, without doubt cuz I always kinda saw Gar as a cute little brother type - with Damian the future power couple potential is endless and I dig that shiz
To quote "When It Falls" from RWBY
"There'll be no rest
There'll be no love
There'll be no hero in the end
Who will rise above
And when it ends
The good will crawl
The shining light will sink in darkness
Victory for hate incarnate
Misery and pain for all
When it falls!"
That being said, this movie is definitely not for me with how gleefully it revels in Grimdark.
@@wr5488 You know all the Darkseid's we see aren't the real ones? They are just Avatars of the New God
A neon sign at a crab shack is wild 😂😂😂😂
in the comics during new 52 lex was part of the justice league after events of forever evil when earth 3 crime syndicate (check out the movie crisis on two earths to get an idea, need convincing? james wood voices owlman) invaded their earth.
42:30 honestly don’t remember much about ravens power but I do know it’s 2 fold.
She first has the power of her demonic blood which she uses when she gets angry
The other is the power of the witches of Azarath where her and her mother fled to escape trigun.
Both pretty kick ass films
Side note even if the story would be grim I’d love to see a follow up to this story.
What a great ride... now for the other animated DC movies! Like Superman vs the Elite, the best Superman movie!
And by ‘most powerful’ I mean in just pure magic, not strongest overall.
Imagine when he’s finally done with this series he commits a crime heinous enough for a d sentence for one final final meal
Wakey, wakey!
I'm surprised the guys don't know that Oa is the planet where the Green lanterns have their headquarters
U can always count on Barry to save the day in the end 🤷🏽♂️
21:33 Black Clover reference! Heck yeah Ruff!
Dude knows every spoiler and tries throwing them in like we don't know 🤣
This movie is in my opinion the mos tragic movie of all time. Seeing characters die, bad characters be good fir once. I’m teared up right now as we speak
Ah yes. The trauma one.
BEEN WAITING WEEKS FOR THIS
Bro I've been waiting for this one since the first one this movie is peak dc
This movie is just future Trunks's timeline unfolding then sending the Flash back to create a better one.
AAAAAAAAAAAND I was correct. So this movie was super bitter sweet for me. The DCAU is my happy DC place.
Next up is the animated crisis on Infinite Earths 1, 2, and 3 they continue the story from this story line
