it is pretty good ngl..... i dont really know what my favorite is tbh....but i would say it is ep37, the way the show ends is just so amazing to me but you are right this episode is pretty high up there...
The one right after this and the finale are also in my Top 3 ... it's hard for me to decide which is actually the best, but this one is definitely amazing
While the plan itself is quite brilliant, Light still was insanely lucky for it to work. There's no way he could have guaranteed that he'd be in a position to hold the notebook for an extended period of time without anyone monitoring him.
not really, he knew that since he was the son of the chief and only other person who knew about the task force they would obviously ask him to help them catch kira after he proved his innocence and got released, but he also knew that L would definitely not keep his eye off of him regardless of being released from jail
If not then, he would touch it at some point. We all saw everyone in the task force ended up touching it. It was inevitable for to Light to touch it at some point.
After several watches, I'm just NOW realizing Light's only reason for the notebook switch was because he had Rem in his pocket thanks to Misa, and he knew he couldn't rely on Ryuk to do something of this magnitude without getting bored and ditching the plan 😅 lol 😂 Really though, it's sad/awesome to see the set up was put into play SO early. They met like a week earlier! lmao
Yes. But also...He made sure that when Misa's notebook was dropped on the ground, HE picked it up. So HE becomes the owner INSTEAD of a Shinigami becoming the owner. Hes basically made himself the shinigami of this notebook. So when Higuchi dies...it doesn't go to Rem. It goes to HIM. Guaranteeing that it won't leave him which puts him in the perfect position now to use Rem for personal gain and manipulate her to kill her.
Misa and Light didn't exchange the notebooks, they did exchange Shinigamis. That's why Light gained his memories back when he touched the notebook Rem attached (that was his original notebook in the first place) and Misa gained hers back when she touched the notebook Ryuk attached (and that was her original notebook).
I don't think you have to touch "your note book" to regain your memories. But you do have to have a full Death Note. Hence why Rem touching a page to Misa didn't give her back her memories.
Light getting the notebook back was heartbreaking for me because I actually started liking pre-notebook Light and the friendship he was developing with L.
One of the whispers in L's head as he is deducing says "Don't let Light touch the notebook" but it's so fast and is drowned by a sea of other thoughts.. L is thinking at a 1000mph. Also, there is speculation about the translations.. Jealous extended Misa's lifespan well beyond what it SHOULD HAVE been.. She had minutes left to live, Jealous could of extended Misa's lifespan to that of an average human female which is like 86 and she is 21 at this point (2 years older than Light), 65 years is WELL BEYOND the 1-3 minutes she had left. meaning after the Rem deal she would of died at the age of 53ish (if she lived to be 86 without the deal) and now after the Ryuuk deal she would die at 37 years old (again, if her base lifespan was increased to 86)
I think in terms of pure intelligence, L beats out Light. He's mostly managed to stay at least half a step ahead of Light, maybe in part also because he's less emotional and arrogant. However, L's at a disadvantage. Light knows the rules of the game they're playing and the pieces on the board at any given time. L only knows what he can deduce from limited information. L definitely has the tougher hand to play throughout the show.
L is more logical than Light. But social intelligence is more than just IQ, most people who are successful manipulators don’t necessarily have high IQ, they are just socially intelligent.
Easily one of my favorite episodes. Light makes so many incredible plays, but this one was arguably this greatest. I don't know why you're so surprised that Light doesn't care about his friendship with L; as he's demonstrated repeatedly, he cares only about his goals, and will use whoever he can to attain them. L is his greatest obstacle, so of course he has to be eliminated. Plain and simple.
By far my favorite episode. That moment when Light gets his memories rushing back is so intense and reminds of the ending of 'The Usual Suspect' and my favorite episode of 'The Wonderful World Of Gumball' "the remote". 😁🙏
@shadycactus7896 I'm telling you, watch that episode "The Remote" is one of the best funniest and surprisingly complex episodes of the series - I love that episode. 😂
Even if it weren’t one of the four options, I would highly recommend Code Geass as the next show you watch. It’s the perfect follow-up to Death Note, thematically.
Been waiting soooooo long to see this one lmao. Montana's reaction to the watch reveal was literally every one of is the first time we saw it. Thanks so much for reacting to this show, it's so infamous at this point that fresh reactions are precious and must be protected at all costs lol
Actually rewatching it again now and I dont think I ever noticed how Light freaking CARESSES the face of the watch like an actual psychopath that he is; he is so ecstatic and entranced by his own genius and this moment of victory it's almost sensual...dang I love this show lol
Man, the Yotsuba Arc is my favorite part of Death Note. I'll miss innocent Light helping fight the bad guys with L. But alas, Kira's plans refuse to stop. (At least there are plenty of fanfics I can read about 'Yotsuba Arc Light' to keep me happy.😉)
This episode is always so depressing, I loved Light the hero, and it would have just as interesting if not more to have had another smart character with the book and to have light investigate it himself.
Looking back on the series you realice the exact moment L's defeat was solidified, the moment he released Light out of the cell, that's the moment L lost
I only read the Manga very long time ago, i almost completely forgot the whole story, and then I watching this from beginning with you guys now i remember, this particular scenes where Light finally gets everything back with his mind blowing master plan was the reason why i became all the way Team Light back then, and now still I am.
in the japanese dub there's a funny thing that happens. in one version. light says "all according to keikaku" and then a TN shows up on screen that says "keikaku means plan"
Seeing you guys holding each other after Light gets ahold of the notebook,, looks like you guys are on a scary roller coaster ride, and youre there for eachother for emotional support. 😂
14:11 why would the god of the new world feel regret? jkjk I feel bad for the original Light who realized that he was Kira and was consumed by it again.
This moment is still one of the best moments in Death Note. Finding out everything was according to Light's plan was godlike. He even managed to manipulate himself. And the Light that was kind, worked with L, and didn't like lying to others throughout episode 17-23 disappeared. Because Kira is back.
It is clear to say that the Death Note seems to change the personality of the humans who come into contact with it, it probably has something to do with the fact that shinigamis have zero empathy for mortal emotions, Humans have more sensitive minds and the Death Note easily affects people's judgment and opinions to be like those of a shinigami. The god complex that Light takes on right when he obtains the Death Note is not simply dependent on his personality, feeling like a god is clearly another of the symptoms of coming into contact with the Death Note, Since the only ones who should have such notebooks are shinigami, it would be safe to assume that the Death Notes are shrouded in an aura of divine complex and carelessness that infect anyone with an inferior mind like humans.
People always say that Light had the advantage because of the Death note but L has an insane amount of advantages too, Noone knows who L is, noone knows his name noone knew his face until Light forced him to reveal his face, L also has pretty much every police force on the planet on his side along with an insane amount of money, They both have their own advantages and given the nature of the death note i'd argue L is actually the one with the greater advantage going into their game.
so true man, people excuse the fact that L have advantage, they become blidfolded when it comes to L advantage,,people just see light advantage, but dont see how he played, people forget that he is criminal and in tight spot already,,how can people say L better than light bcz light has advantage!still make me wonder!
@@ghfXX bro so why L keep him close when he is dangerous,,u r supporting L but didnt realy understand L perspective or goal, keeping Light around him is is a smart move of L also not smart, bcz light planned out everything so well
@@esha3353 because he revealed himself to the biggest suspect on the case. Let's analyse this... you think Light planned everything so well, right? Up until Misa showed up, Light had a supernatural untracable weapon. Within some months L had basically got into him beign a huge suspect after getting Kira baited into killing Tailor, then the mistake of using police information that led him into beign investigated by the FBI, and then into another error in killing Penber, which led L into basically him. What were Lights plans with all those actions? With Tailor it was an abrupt act of ego about his godhood beign challenged, nothing planned here. Using inside information from japanese police to get into L. Is it really smart? People talk like if that was a positive for Light, but it made BOTH approach each other. And remeber that L knew all along his hidden identity would make a lot of people not trust him. From the start he was counting on the reduction of the task force, maybe not as much as Light provoked, but he knew that. And the trade off by removing some normal policemen from the case was that he handed the information that Kira had a way to access inside info. That resulted in the FBI beign involved. Then he made a super plan to kill Penber, but after the fact we saw both L and Light going through the things that happened since the FBI agents arrived. He basically left a small window open that allowed L to narrow the search even further. Not only that, he didn't account for a person involved with Penber giving some info to the police. From all the world population into a handfull of suspects... What Light accomplished with all that? He killed the FBI agents that went there just because of his previous action (using police information). What using police information helped him? He mocked L, he could have just kept the time of the kills consistent while testing the power of the books, but his ego had to leave a clue to L. Whats the profit of it all? L pretty much knows it's him and Light has ZERO information on L. Not only that, L showed himself in a preemptive way that would not allow him to die even if Light somehow got to find his name (or make the eye deal). Then enters Misa. For as much as people see her as a liability, her existence alongside a second death note is what makes Light's super plan viable. Without that would be a matter of time before L had green light to possibly imprision Light, and at that point the case would be closed. Misa had to appear in the right moment to allow the escape maneuver. After all his masterplan to fake their innocence (that had many windows to fail), he got his victory over L. At what cost? 1) He revealed the murder weapon to the world; 2) After that point he would never have full control of the kills, since he can't use the death note directly; 3) With the note revealed, the rules of the supernatural were revealed, meaning he had to protect the 13 day rule at all costs; All those factor ultimately led to his downfall.
But at that point you are just complaining that the guy that got the super natural power had one person who could challenge him. Without that there is no story. Having L have an accessible identity would require Light to not have a power from another world. And the fact that L has police force is bullshit, too. It's the same argument as before, is like crying that mass murder is beign commited and that the governments were actually using their full power to investigate. If it was not L, it would have been another person commanding the investigations. And look at the many times the law hindered the means L would have wanted to used. Light can play knowing the law and what the world could throw at him (people survailling him, tampering, etc). Light also knows the rules for him to be incriminated. Those rules go against L, specially fighting a super natural power, as he had Light as Kira pretty early on, but it was a matter of finding the out-of-this-world factor. It always baffles me how can people really think it's even comparable, let alone claim L had greater advantage. Light ego is what drives the narrative, because it made him make the mistakes that led L into him. If he just stayed quiet he would have a clear path.
This episode and next are going to be just absolutely intense. These are some of the most intense couple of episodes in anime history, and is just unreal.
No spoilers just a reminder of a minor detail you probably dont remember. When Gelus killed Misa's attacker and died, his remaining life span was added to hers. She was meant to die at 19 but gained extra time which has now been cut down to 25% of that extra time.
Actually, the deal cuts your remaining lifespan by half. In other words it does not count as a quarter of a human life, but Misa’s remaining lifespan cut by 4. It could be both more or less than a quarter. If the shinigami had 50 years left, then Misa’s remaining lifespan would be 50 years since she was saved the day she was supposed to die (her natural lifespan ended when Gelus interfered and gave her his lifespan in return). So when she made the eye deal the first time she wad left with 25 years (if Gelus’ span was 50 years). And when she made the second eye deal she was left with 12,5 years. If her current age is 19, then she would die at 31,5. For those who have not watched DeathNote: Warning! ⚠️ *SPOILER AHEAD* Since Misa died in her mid twenties, then her remaining lifespan was about 6 years. Before she made the deal with Ryuk her span was about 12 years and before the deal with Rem it was about 24 years. Gelus only had a quarter of a human’s lifespan and Misa made two shinigami eye deals with that… It means even if Light won, she wouldn’t live long enough by his side and he would forget her either way after her use for him was over.
I really enjoyed watching this with you guys. It's really unfortunate that theres only 1 episode left. I look forward to your next series as long as its not code geass or jujutsu haha.
I would disagree on light having an advantage because of the death note. Since L has every other advantage he could ask for he had literal infinite resources. And the lengths that light had to go through to win compared to L shows that he didn't have an advantage. And also how easily higuchi was caught while having 7 other help him out. I think it shows that light did alot of pulling to defeat L
Exactly, Ls biggest advantage over Light is his real identity, meanwhile Lights identity is easily accessible and his life and past can be scrutinised, but Ls name is unknowable, the one thing Light needs. So for Light to do what he does and put L into a corner like that is immensely impressive.
Oh God, Code Geass please! It also pairs so well with Death Note. They are very very different but similar in ways that make pairing them interesting. Definitely best anime of those 4.
Trying watching "one outs", the strategy used to cheat in the show was recreated by a real sports team years later. Some of the best "strategies" from an anime that are realistic
Looked away to turn on my space heater during the intro. Looked up and saw future clone Kenny climbing over the armchairs but couldn't immediately see his face. Got extremely freaked out because I didn't know who it was, neither of you were reacting to this third person, and to my recollection there's never been anyone else on your channel. I'm also running on 3 hours of sleep trying to reset my circadian rhythm so that may have something to do with how confused I was.
Misa couldn't remember L's name despite saying "who's this friend of yours? you look so different and unique" ?! If she did remember, Rem wouldn't have died and Light now has an invisible being doing his bidding never ever able to get caught.
Kenny's right. Despite the situation and outcome, L is clearly more smarter. Despite at a disadvantage, without knowing the function of the DN's supernatural aspects and the rules, and with Light having Misa, Rem, and Ryuk to help (Rem helped Light by intervening and making sure the Higuchi situation stays according to plan, with Ryuk helping Light making a false rule, and then there's Misa) and Light's intellect. Despite all of Light's advantages, L STILL managed to see through and put Light into a corner. Actually, L in a way solved the case, when asked Light to assess the scenario that "Light used to be Kira and transferred his powers.." bit.
Just a note on Shinigami lifespans - it's easy to assume they have hundreds of years, but considering Ryuk early on says Shinigami essentially just sit around in a sort of bored daze all day and don't actively kill humans, it's just as easy to imagine they just nip a human every now and then to ensure they can keep going. "Oh, my life span is 7 years, better go write down a guy so I can gamble uninterrupted for the next 20" kind of thing. So the lifespan transferred from Gelus to Misa might've only been something like, say, 20, 30 years. And she was meant to be killed *on the exact day that she did it*, so her lifespan was probably never freakishly long.
Ep 25.....where meny stopped watching saying it's the true ending, but the next part is good too. I personally wasn't a fan but yeah death note is an amazing story and can't wait to see what you watch next
Rem fell in love with Misa, that’s one of the huge advantages of Light. Once L’s gonna win, Rem would kill L no matter what. Even Light planed another way or even nothing, Rem would still do the same thing. It almost has nothing to do with Light. Without those advantages Light would lose rapidly. Thanks to the editor's requirements.🙃
I hope this is just edit mistake. Code geass R2 is second season. About Misa lifespan. When you see numbers from Rem then Light has 7 numbers, and misa has only 5. Ist not 1= 1 our or something like that. But no matter what its two orders of magnitude difference. Misa has at least few times less life than light.
I remember when I was first watching this, at some point I was like “Wait, That’s Light’s notebook… But REM is attached to it? Is that a plot hole?” So when this episode came along and they showed the changing of the shinigamis it was so great to have an explanation.
20:21 l don't think he might fine loop holes as there are no burning marks or pages torn because l am sure light might even if had tore the pages of the previous criminals killed He would not leave evidence and for 13 days rule no one else was user or related died but if L decides to tear all pages of death note then light loses
About misa lifespan don’t forget that shinigami in the shinigami world only kill to increase his lifespan, so i will say he probably gave less than 50 years for misa and i think still way less, so she half this twice she has around 12 years, probably wayyy less
excited for whichever show you chose to watch next! (tho I'll have to watch through 2 myself if you chose them) next bracket I hope Re:Zero gets on the to watch list!
Even if she did remember his name, his name is written in English, which she probably doesn't know. I'd imagine it'd be different with Light since he knows English.
The manga author himself claims that L is the smartest character in Death Note. --From the interview in Page 191, Volume 13 of the Manga The chart points are about knowledges, not IQ. The original word is "知識". The translator of the English version manga must be a Light fan or his/her Japanese is horribly suck. "L had never been in school before, and did not know the relevant knowledges, but with only a few days’study, he became NO.1 of the National College Entrance Examination." "On the other hand, Light attended tuition classes constantly, that is the difference between their degree of IQ." After all, in the manga, even just the achievements and ability of L’s childhood, is way better than Light. --From the chapter L-The Wammy's House

They met like a week earlier! lmao
Yeah same here! That was incredible.
I think it was also to ensure that Misa would do the eye deal again. Cause Rem would never agree to that.
@@arctic1439 nope it's for the fake rules.
Misa getting the eyes is a bonus
@@azrael_pendragon nah i think its cause so she can do the deal with Ryuk. I think Light would know that she would forget L's name.
Bruh....that part "coincidence...I think not!!!!". Perfect lol
Code Geass after death note is the best combo
its really not, it actually ruined Code geass for me after Ive read so many comparisons between these two
Yep and CG is even better.
@@patches-de why exactly
The reason that Light switched the Shinigami was because onlt Rem would follow Light, and Rem likely wouldn't do the eye deal a second time
Gigabrain Light move.
Honestly, might be the greatest play he ever made
By far my favorite episode. That moment when Light gets his memories rushing back is so intense and reminds of the ending of 'The Usual Suspect' and my favorite episode of 'The Wonderful World Of Gumball' "the remote". 😁🙏
Comparing Gumball with Death Note? Interesting comparison

I love it when y’all analyze stuff in anime its entertaining
The Kenny from the future coming from behind you freaked me out for a moment xD
Also, CODE GEASS. that's it. Thanks.
6:31 One of the most iconic moments in the history of anime!
The take-away from Light's story, is that there is just a very thin line between the good you and the evil you. Tread carefully.
I love how L brought coffee. He was prepared to question him for a long time.
This episode is always so depressing, I loved Light the hero, and it would have just as interesting if not more to have had another smart character with the book and to have light investigate it himself.
This is literally my favourite episode of the entire series and you can probably see why lmao
This my favorite episode of the whole show the one scene of the airplane passing by and his mouth is wide open is the best
Ah I can’t wait for this and the next one specifically
Looking back on the series you realice the exact moment L's defeat was solidified, the moment he released Light out of the cell, that's the moment L lost
I already cannot wait for May 12th. The guy is so god damn dramatic, I love it xD
ELIMINATE!
at least, I think that's the one you're taking about.
Just as keikaku.
Tn note: Keikaku means plan
Seeing you guys holding each other after Light gets ahold of the notebook,, looks like you guys are on a scary roller coaster ride, and youre there for eachother for emotional support. 😂
14:11 why would the god of the new world feel regret? jkjk
I feel bad for the original Light who realized that he was Kira and was consumed by it again.
This moment is still one of the best moments in Death Note. Finding out everything was according to Light's plan was godlike. He even managed to manipulate himself. And the Light that was kind, worked with L, and didn't like lying to others throughout episode 17-23 disappeared. Because Kira is back.
Code Geass is like mecha Dethnote so it would fit.
RUclips viewers anticipating the next episode be like: "Letts React tears are worth the trip. What's the best way to describe these? Juicy?"
EP 25 IS COMING OMG
6:28 If I were Light I would've said "I'M BACK BABY"
So hyped for these next episodes
Light was damn near salivating…
People always say that Light had the advantage because of the Death note but L has an insane amount of advantages too, Noone knows who L is, noone knows his name noone knew his face until Light forced him to reveal his face, L also has pretty much every police force on the planet on his side along with an insane amount of money, They both have their own advantages and given the nature of the death note i'd argue L is actually the one with the greater advantage going into their game.
Yes, but in fact L is in even more danger than Light, he is not so protected when Light is around
so true man, people excuse the fact that L have advantage, they become blidfolded when it comes to L advantage,,people just see light advantage, but dont see how he played, people forget that he is criminal and in tight spot already,,how can people say L better than light bcz light has advantage!still make me wonder!
1) He revealed the murder weapon to the world;
2) After that point he would never have full control of the kills, since he can't use the death note directly;
3) With the note revealed, the rules of the supernatural were revealed, meaning he had to protect the 13 day rule at all costs;
All those factor ultimately led to his downfall.
If he just stayed quiet he would have a clear path.

i loove how theyre so excited and holding hands
*SPOILER AHEAD*
Since Misa died in her mid twenties, then her remaining lifespan was about 6 years.
@@tonysoldan i like your theory! Wow,it is amazing how well written this show really is.

Light screaming while getting his memories back is probably one of my favorite seens in anime ngl lol
So for Light to do what he does and put L into a corner like that is immensely impressive.
also Light had a Shinigami threatening to kill him ever since Misa got involved.
Light is a genius and he had difficulties to deal with, but overall he did have a pretty major advantage.
We have no idea how long Gelus had left.
CODE GEASS!!!!! Let’s gooooooooo!!! #AllHailLelouch ✊🏼😤
Oh God,

I'm also running on 3 hours of sleep trying to reset my circadian rhythm so that may have something to do with how confused I was.
Rest up buck
Misa couldn't remember L's name despite saying "who's this friend of yours? you look so different and unique" ?! If she did remember, Rem wouldn't have died and Light now has an invisible being doing his bidding never ever able to get caught.
Great reaction, one of the best i've seen.
Love the videos guys I can tell you spend time working on the videos 🙏🏽
1:40 If they’re released at different dates (1 week apar each) then wouldn’t the earlier uploads gain the advantage in engagement?
"All according to cake" -Goku, TFS Abridged
Note: cake means keikaku
Note: Keikaku means plan
A 3 minute break omg 😂
23:13 I was expecting an "are you sure about that" lol
Ep 25.....where meny stopped watching saying it's the true ending, but the next part is good too. I personally wasn't a fan but yeah death note is an amazing story and can't wait to see what you watch next
Rem fell in love with Misa, that’s one of the huge advantages of Light. Once L’s gonna win, Rem would kill L no matter what. Even Light planed another way or even nothing, Rem would still do the same thing. It almost has nothing to do with Light. Without those advantages Light would lose rapidly. Thanks to the editor's requirements.🙃

About Misa lifespan. When you see numbers from Rem then Light has 7 numbers, and misa has only 5. Ist not 1= 1 our or something like that. But no matter what its two orders of magnitude difference. Misa has at least few times less life than light.

I kinda wish there would be an alternate universe where light isnt back to being kira
I remember when I was first watching this, at some point I was like “Wait, That’s Light’s notebook… But REM is attached to it? Is that a plot hole?” So when this episode came along and they showed the changing of the shinigamis it was so great to have an explanation.
20:21 l don't think he might fine loop holes as there are no burning marks or pages torn because l am sure light might even if had tore the pages of the previous criminals killed
He would not leave evidence and for 13 days rule no one else was user or related died but if L decides to tear all pages of death note then light loses
Has there been a reaction so powerful that they had to hold onto each other?
About misa lifespan don’t forget that shinigami in the shinigami world only kill to increase his lifespan, so i will say he probably gave less than 50 years for misa and i think still way less, so she half this twice she has around 12 years, probably wayyy less
It's possible he gave her 500 years too.

Even if she did remember his name, his name is written in English, which she probably doesn't know. I'd imagine it'd be different with Light since he knows English.
The manga author himself claims that L is the smartest character in Death Note.
--From the interview in Page 191, Volume 13 of the Manga
The chart points are about knowledges, not IQ. The original word is "知識". The translator of the English version manga must be a Light fan or his/her Japanese is horribly suck.
"L had never been in school before, and did not know the relevant knowledges, but with only a few days’study, he became NO.1 of the National College Entrance Examination."
"On the other hand, Light attended tuition classes constantly, that is the difference between their degree of IQ."
After all, in the manga, even just the achievements and ability of L’s childhood, is way better than Light.
