As someone with a statistics degree, I love the idea of this video! However, as someone with a statistics degree, I also noticed some sources of possible bias: 1. The rankings of the people you race against are likely similar to your own ranking, so this probably isn't representative of all Mario kart players 2. People's race choice could be influenced by the courses they played recently (I personally like variety within a Mario kart session) 3. If individual racers were present for many races, then their opinions could be overrepresented. 4. People's opinions could vary depending on other factors (lobby region, character & kart selection) So I'd really love to see someone try to recreate this while addressing these. Still a great video!
Yeah unfortunately there's not much I can do about 1, 2, or 4. Like I mention in the video, I'm pretty sure the only reason Mount Wario wasn't ranked number 1 was cause of how much it gets played As for 3, I made sure to switch lobbies after at most 10 races so that I could get a variety of racers I think if we were to try and do a fully fleshed out analysis taking into account historical trends, picks as a function of VR, etc, we'd have to do within the 10s of thousands of races at least, and it's not even clear how you'd summarize the data in a concise way at that point. Anyways yeah you definitely raise some valid concerns, and I'm actually working on a more stat / science oriented video explaining some of these limitations and what not

Like if you could only make a single change to each track, what would it be? Shorter/longer, visuals, add/remove a cut, delete those f****** trees on Mount Wario
i see this as a flaw in methodology. instead of taking a statistical approach and collecting data from multiple people over different vr rankings, Bayesic just played a bunch and took the results of his own games. 600 games is not enough, you’d want way more than that to make sure each track faces off against every other track in the game a few times at least, to make sure the sample size is big enough to not be too influenced by randomness. I dislike this approach not because it’s flawed, almost any is, but mostly because of how he put it. It’s akin to “other people have opinion-based videos, but this, this is science” and then all the probability and methodology gets left out for a hypothetical different video, and that’s literally the most important part of assessing how reliable all this data is. I disagree with doing that and find it frustrating.
As much as I get the disdain over bagging courses, I still can't bring myself to dislike tracks like Yoshi Circuit and Cheese Land (one of my favourites). Solely because I don't bag 99% of the time and actually driving around those tracks "normally" is very fun to me. Also, happy to see Bone-Dry Dunes getting some love. Easily a top 5 course in the entire game for me as well.
@@babaaj906 I don’t get why it’s so loved, it’s literally just a nascar loop though all of it. It was semi fun in double dash and without the chaotic bowser shells and fireballs it’s just lifeless. This track kinda just wasted a potential track themed after a theme park existing.
I've only just realized the MK8 community doesn't like Electrodrome lmao. It's always been one of my favorites. And sure, I get that the split paths can be annoying for some, but I don't mind them at all, and the visuals and music are so good that I just can't help it, Electrodrome is great!
Dry Dry Desert is one of my favorite tracks. I just love item smuggling tracks in general and this is the biggest of all the bagging tracks. There is something satisfying being in 1st with a star or golden mushrooms.
I disagree with both your and the data/community rankings, especially with Royal Raceway on both since I find that track really boring and I seem to play it all the time, but this is still interesting. I tend to prefer tracks with narrower roads I think but there isn't really anything I can think of connecting the tracks I like. My favourite's Super Bell Subway for the aestetic, music, and I think the off road cuts are fun and I love avoiding the trains. I don't get why people seem to think it's a mid track. As for sherbet land, I like the track but it's overall a pretty forgettable track to me, nothing too interesting on it. That's why I never really pick it and I feel that's why a lot of other people don't as well. I suck at the game though so I don't know any advanced tricks or whatever. This sounds like I'm just complaining but this is still a great video.

Good takes. It's fascinating how wildly opinions can differ depending on how competitive the player is online. Casual players rate Big Blue highly because it is a streamlined, aesthetically pleasing course that's thematically interesting (F-Zero), but people who play online often may dislike it because it's a one of the worst examples of a frontrunning track. Mario Circuit 3 is more fun to me than BB for that reason lmao.
Wow I would've guessed the opposite, that baby park is close to #1. People ALWAYS PICK IT. Had a lobby with 11/12 picking it lol (including me, it's a fun track). It's short, sweet, and chaotic fun. If I play mario kart online, I want chaos and I want fun, and despite being a stupid circle, it provides that

Rainbow Road Wii U is also my favorite for the same reasons as you, ontop of its amazing music. From July 2014 to nowadays, I've always loved this course, tried to get records very close to WR ( down to 2s on Wii U, 2.7s on Switch ). Knowing the racing lines and the proper amounts of brake-drifting really lets you take-off from the pack, and fun fact, this course was my "Wild Card" when I went for a test to get into a team, the World Friend back in late 2014. It's my skills on this track that convinced them to let me in. Since then I often offer this course at the end of a winning clan war to my team if I know I'll be securing 1st 90% of the time. While Wild Woods isn't that high for me, it's still top-tier for the simple reason that this track gives me MASSIVE NOSTALGIA from the racetrack "In The Trees" from the PS1/PC game "Smurf Racer!" also known as "3,2,1, Smurf!" in Europe, released in 2000. It was my very first videogame in early 2002, In The Trees was my favorite track for its enchanting music, and Wild Woods feels like de-aging by 50 years for me and eating grandma"s soup. Pure bliss.

I still like Cheese Land even though I agree I get cheesed (lol) by last-second comebacks there. The music is great, and it's pretty windy and fun to navigate. I think my favorite in the game is a tie of Neo Bowser City and Mount Wario. I like challenging tracks that are still fun to play online, and I find myself gravitating to these whenever they come up. Honorable mention for Wild Woods, I almost always pick that track as well. It's fun and actually themed well, and I love the Shy Guys chanting lol.
What you said about N64 Rainbow Road is exactly what I like about this course lol. Aesthetically speaking, it's one of the most beautiful circuits in all MK franchise IMO, with this christmas and celebration theme, delivering a very upbeat and happy sensation while running it. Ofc the original track is good too, but I like the makeover made on it. Sadly, the only good this is that, aesthetic and music, because the circuit itself is pretty boring and lame to play. I wish it was given more gimmicks, and maybe two laps at least
I just started getting really into this game. Actually played my first online matches yesterday. Honestly I liked hearing your opinion on where you ranked each track and why. I would havd loved to see a video where you put them in order by how you ranked them and then show what the community ranked them. This video just flipped around. At least we get to hear your opinion as to why you ranked them the way you did. So it would have made more sense to me seeing them in your order. I’m still left wondering why the community ranked most of the tracks the way they did. Either way, great vid!
I think the only thing that shocked me how low Wario Stadium is at for the community ranking, I was honestly expecting top 5 for that track as I would assume people pick it alot in my lobbies to practice the ramp strats. Dry Dry Desert, Dolphin Shoals and Twisted Mansion (slightly) were all pretty shocking too; I especially thought Dolphin Shoals would break top 10 before watching FULLY expected Yoshi Circuit to be where it's at 😂Everyone loves picking it online In general awesome tier list!!
I kinda like n64 rainbow road on 150cc for the time trial, I know that not alot of people like it but it's a track that I like because it's one of my favorites to time trial and to play online
I don't think it's nearly top tier but imo Wild Woods is a perfectly well-rounded Mario Kart track. Just enough comeback potential without sacrificing the people who do actually know what they're doing, a cool setting with gorgeous music, and a decently split focus on weird tech and difficult maneuvers while still being easy to drive on for people who don't know all that high level shit, it really is this game's Maple Treeway.
I think there's 3 really important points to make: 1. Great video, excellent commentary 2. Yes please make a methodology video. I'd love to see a Matt Parker style breakdown that I only partly understand but fully appreciate. 3. There's a point at 7:30 when tyou go from Bowser castle to Dry dry and the footage of Waluigi perfectly transitions from one screen to the next, like he's driving between tracks. If you could edit your videos like this it would be total bullshit impressive and I'd become a patreon.
I personally kinda disagree with sherbet land , the reason is why everyone doesn’t like it is not because the slippery road, it just feels soooo empty unlike neo bowser city
That comment comparing Sherbet Land to Bone Dry Dunes is so accurate lol. I notice both those tracks rarely get chosen, and when they are, people tend to do really poorly on them (provided you aren't in a pro room). Remember being really surprised how far ahead of the pack I was on Sherbet Land not even playing all that well.
Thank you for having a goated opinion and agreeing on the fact that neo bowser city, bone-dry dunes, and sherbet land are good tracks. A lot of people bash on bone-dry dunes, but I love the challenge it brings and neo bowser city I feel the same about too. Sherbet land is also great, but I mainly enjoy that track because I have a bias for snow tracks
i think why people don't like sherbet land (mainly my opinion) is that the theme is a little dull and makes you feel like you're playing some boring penguin, ice and fire stage in super mario bros. It's also a weirdly relaxing course that just makes the game not as hyped up (boring in a way). And yes, i would rather play mario kart stadium cuz it's my favourite since it's easy and fun to speedrun or test stuff. It also has much for hype and feels "louder", like as if you were playing with a bunch of friends and stuff. The track's colours are also too light and the lights is a little shallow and plain, that makes you feel like the stage has a dark colour of tone when it doesn't. Compared to other tracks I don't really like it for the above reasons (it also makes you fell like you are your room on a dark rainy day staring at your computer, probably because i played this stage a lot on one rainy day.
This video was awesome! It's great to see which tracks the MK players prefer statistically and your personal preferences. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it, but would like share my opinion on the rankings. I don't think I can rank them first to last (or vise versa) without someone pulling all of my data and showing me how I actually have voted over the course of almost two years of playing this game. The best I can do is tiers. In each tier I list tracks I can't pick one over another, but would choose any over the next tier. In my rankings of the courses, I take everything into consideration: scenery, music, location and layout of the course. Tier 1: Mount Wario, Rainbow Road, Yoshi Valley, Electrodrome - these are my FAVORITES! The tracks here give me the highest level of enjoyment playing the game by far and I always pick them over everything else. Tier 2: Sherbet Land, Bowser's Castle, Hyrule Circuit, Neo Bowser City, Big Blue, Twisted Mansion, Wild Woods - my GOLD tier. These are very fun courses and I enjoy them lots, just not quite as much as the ones above. Tier 3: Royal Raceway, Grumble Volcano, Thwomp Ruins, Sweet Sweet Canyon, DK Jungle, Wario's Gold Mine - my SILVER tier. Again, these are the tracks I actively pick and enjoy playing them a great deal. Tier 4: SNES & N64 Rainbow Roads, Mario Circuit, Ice Ice Outpost, Sunshine Airport, Moo Moo Meadows, Cheep Cheep Beach, Mario Cart Stadium, Yoshi Circuit, Cheese land, Toad Harbor, Mute City, Cloud Top Cruise - my BRONZE tier. I do pick these and enjoy them, but not to the same extent as the ones above and these are never my first choice. This tier is also the last tier I actually pick. Tier 5: Shy Guy Falls, Water Park, Wario Stadium, GBA Mario Circuit, Piranha Plant Slide, Tick Tock Clock, Ribbon Road, Dragon Driftway, Super Bell Subway, Dry Dry Desert, Bone Dry Dunes, Dolphin Shoals, Animal Crossing - the MEH tier. I never pick these and don't really have much fun playing them. Tier 6: Donut Plains 3, Baby Park, Music Park, Toads Turnpike, Exitebike Arena - the SHIT tier. I never pick these and hate playing them. If I could block them or delete from my game, I would. Now, to address a couple of things from your video. To me, Wild Woods is a three-lap tree version of Big Blue. Both tracks go down the long water slide, the both have booster pads and some air time, so, to rank them that far apart is really weird. Bone Dry Dunes is crap. The music sucks, it's twilight and all that sand. The difficulty of the course does not make up for all the detractors. Wario's Gold Mine is just fun to play. Being in a gold mine is really cool, the music is neat and even though there is a couple of long straights, there are enough twists and turns to keep it really fun. Just like you, I LOVE winter-themed courses and Sherbet Land is most definitely under-rated, more than any other track. Sherbet Land is the most wonderful time of the year! :) Lastly, IMO, Ribbon Road is the most-OVER rated course in the game. It's in a small room and it feels cramped, the dubmass floating ribbon always messes up tricks or causes them when I'm not trying to trick. I hope you read this, it took a long time to type this up..haha

The only music I'm finding there sounds pretty similar to the original DK jungle theme. Like I can see what they were going for with the MK8 remix, I just don't particularly care for it

Lots of takes I didn’t agree with, but we do agree on perhaps the two most important: GCN Sherbet Land is underrated and top tier, and Wild Woods is the best track.
23:10 this is why I used to dispise rainbow road 8 so much, when I was a noob I didn't know brake drifting was a thing, and I used a sports bike because I didn't really know the difference and it was the only course where I didn't consistently get top 3, often getting bottom 4 Once I learned how to play the game it got better tho, and it's probably around my 7th favorite track Funny side note I have a vid on my switch from my brother who fell through the floor in rainbow road because of a lightning, so some scuffed-ness but very cool track
i just have to say, as someone who really likes big blue, i like it for the music, which I'm sad you didn't touch on, easily one of the most hyped up fun songs on mk8 in my opinion
I never thought id hear anyone preach the truth about sherbert land! Its such a good stage! The turns and shortcuts are satisfying, the theme and music are SO cute, the end section has so many routes and just the right amount of chaos. Always good races here. I vote for it whenever i can, and always notice im the only one :*(
I've played Mario Kart 8 a lot with my younger cousins throughout the years and they LOVE Excitebike Arena and Baby Park. They're just all in for the chaos. I actually think the game as a whole get's better because there are some non-sense tracks like those every now and then, although I agree that they're fairly boring otherwise. Btw: Would love a follow up video ranking the DLC courses once all the waves are here!

In the beginning of the video, It was weird seeing how all the tracks that I REALLY disliked playing on were in the back of the tracks. But then as the list went on I realized something. I hate or dislike a majority of Mario Kart 8's base track roster LMAO
What's even funnier to me is how I actually REALLY do not like Wild Woods. Mostly because it is quite possibly the MOST forgettable track to me. For clarification, I don't do online races (I'd rage too much) I mostly do Time Trials now, and custom item versus races after that was introduced

The wait for this video was worth it! Definitely liked watching it all. However, I’m left wondering what the results would look like based on the average VR of the players in the lobby. I’m assuming that since you’re very good at the game, you tend to play with more talented players; and the results of your exercise show this. However, whenever I play with friends who play the game only 2 or 3 times a year, there are a lot ir tracks they constantly choose, because they feel like anyone can win. So, long story short, I suspect the results would be very different if you made the test with an average VR of 5K vs an average of 30K or more
Not only that, but I tend to mostly play at night after my kids go to bed, so my lobbies are almost entirely full of Japanese players since I do worldwides. One of the many limitations of this kind of analysis unfortunately

Neo Bowser City is definitely my favorite track. Yoshi Circuit is definitely one of my favorites and I usually front run and finish top 3. I’ve never really noticed the bagging. Same with Cheese Land. I always front run and end up top 3. The difference is I really don’t like Cheese Land that much. I also agree on N64 Rainbow road. I will sometimes close the game and open it back up if the track is picked online. Definitely my least favorite course. Edit: I’m also not a fan of Ribbon Road. Mainly because I have a skill issue and never bothered to learn the track. But I also feel like I’m always getting bumped off when playing online. It’s just a little too bumpy for me.
Well but which ratings is this at? As someone who only recently got back into MK8 (now deluxe, played MK8 previously) at "low rank lobbies" many of the things your data shows is very different from what happens in my matches
Let me guess. the moment wave 6 is released you'll do a ranking of all 48 booster course pass tracks with several being in the top 10. my possible top 10 as of Wave 3's release announcement is: 1. 3DS Rainbow Road. 2. Wii Maple Treeway 3. N64 Kalimari Desert 4. DS Waluigi Pinball 5. Tour New York Minute 6. N64 Choco Mountain 7. GBA Sky Garden 8. Wii Coconut Mall 9. 3DS Rock Rock Mountain 10 Sky-High Sundae. one video that could be done is a Wave 1 vs Wave 2 vs Wave 3 on how popular they are in online multiplayer.
Personally, Baby Park is one of my if not my absolut favourites. I just really like the chaos that is going on there and it could be anyone's game and I am not always f###ed by those darn Meta Players or people who have better skills than me. But I have to agree on you on Cheese Land and DK Jungle. God how much I dislike these tracks and always get frustated when these ones get picked.
Out of the 575 races, how many times did Mirror or 200cc get played? (ie-I wonder what the percentage is) I do agree with RyanNotCallie that every time baby park or excitebike is an option, that's what we're racing....
I didn't keep track. For the purposes of this video tho it doesn't really matter much cause you can't know ahead of time whether or not you're going to get mirror / 200, and I'd be willing to wager that most people assume they're gonna be in 150cc all the time

In sweet sweet canyon there's a certain spot (the ramp behind the starting/finishing line) that makes a bill last for about 12 secs

Yeah it’s a track that has one of the best vibes but the track design is lacking. It’s better on 200cc though.

I disagree with both your and the data/community rankings, especially with Royal Raceway on both since I find that track really boring and I seem to play it all the time, but this is still interesting. I tend to prefer tracks with narrower roads I think but there isn't really anything I can think of connecting the tracks I like. My favourite's Super Bell Subway for the aestetic, music, and I think the off road cuts are fun and I love avoiding the trains. I don't get why people seem to think it's a mid track.
As for sherbet land, I like the track but it's overall a pretty forgettable track to me, nothing too interesting on it. That's why I never really pick it and I feel that's why a lot of other people don't as well. I suck at the game though so I don't know any advanced tricks or whatever.

Good takes. It's fascinating how wildly opinions can differ depending on how competitive the player is online. Casual players rate Big Blue highly because it is a streamlined, aesthetically pleasing course that's thematically interesting (F-Zero), but people who play online often may dislike it because it's a one of the worst examples of a frontrunning track. Mario Circuit 3 is more fun to me than BB for that reason lmao.

Wow I would've guessed the opposite, that baby park is close to #1. People ALWAYS PICK IT. Had a lobby with 11/12 picking it lol (including me, it's a fun track). It's short, sweet, and chaotic fun. If I play mario kart online, I want chaos and I want fun, and despite being a stupid circle, it provides that

Can you say that to my friend who got two records over me on Toads harbor and Mario kart stadium and claims he is better at the game in every aspect, even though I’ve been destroying him and my other friends for years
Rainbow Road Wii U is also my favorite for the same reasons as you, ontop of its amazing music. From July 2014 to nowadays, I've always loved this course, tried to get records very close to WR ( down to 2s on Wii U, 2.7s on Switch ). Knowing the racing lines and the proper amounts of brake-drifting really lets you take-off from the pack, and fun fact, this course was my "Wild Card" when I went for a test to get into a team, the World Friend back in late 2014. It's my skills on this track that convinced them to let me in. Since then I often offer this course at the end of a winning clan war to my team if I know I'll be securing 1st 90% of the time.
While Wild Woods isn't that high for me, it's still top-tier for the simple reason that this track gives me MASSIVE NOSTALGIA from the racetrack "In The Trees" from the PS1/PC game "Smurf Racer!" also known as "3,2,1, Smurf!" in Europe, released in 2000. It was my very first videogame in early 2002, In The Trees was my favorite track for its enchanting music, and Wild Woods feels like de-aging by 50 years for me and eating grandma"s soup. Pure bliss.

I still like Cheese Land even though I agree I get cheesed (lol) by last-second comebacks there. The music is great, and it's pretty windy and fun to navigate.
I think my favorite in the game is a tie of Neo Bowser City and Mount Wario. I like challenging tracks that are still fun to play online, and I find myself gravitating to these whenever they come up.
Honorable mention for Wild Woods, I almost always pick that track as well. It's fun and actually themed well, and I love the Shy Guys chanting lol.
Totally agree with the Cheese Land part. Yoshi Circuit is top 3 most toxic tracks in the game, but I still like it because of its good music
What you said about N64 Rainbow Road is exactly what I like about this course lol. Aesthetically speaking, it's one of the most beautiful circuits in all MK franchise IMO, with this christmas and celebration theme, delivering a very upbeat and happy sensation while running it. Ofc the original track is good too, but I like the makeover made on it.
Sadly, the only good this is that, aesthetic and music, because the circuit itself is pretty boring and lame to play. I wish it was given more gimmicks, and maybe two laps at least

I just started getting really into this game. Actually played my first online matches yesterday. Honestly I liked hearing your opinion on where you ranked each track and why. I would havd loved to see a video where you put them in order by how you ranked them and then show what the community ranked them. This video just flipped around. At least we get to hear your opinion as to why you ranked them the way you did. So it would have made more sense to me seeing them in your order. I’m still left wondering why the community ranked most of the tracks the way they did. Either way, great vid!
What lobbies are you playing in? Whenever I play if Baby Park is an option then the entire lobby is picking it
Neo bowser city is one of the courses which is so good when it’s actually raining outside it completely changes the vibe in a good way
I think the only thing that shocked me how low Wario Stadium is at for the community ranking, I was honestly expecting top 5 for that track as I would assume people pick it alot in my lobbies to practice the ramp strats.
Dry Dry Desert, Dolphin Shoals and Twisted Mansion (slightly) were all pretty shocking too; I especially thought Dolphin Shoals would break top 10 before watching

I kinda like n64 rainbow road on 150cc for the time trial, I know that not alot of people like it but it's a track that I like because it's one of my favorites to time trial and to play online

I don't think it's nearly top tier but imo Wild Woods is a perfectly well-rounded Mario Kart track. Just enough comeback potential without sacrificing the people who do actually know what they're doing, a cool setting with gorgeous music, and a decently split focus on weird tech and difficult maneuvers while still being easy to drive on for people who don't know all that high level shit, it really is this game's Maple Treeway.
I’m so glad that I see someone else that actually likes Wii Grumble Volcano. Everywhere I go I see people dunk on it. It’s such an underrated track.
I think there's 3 really important points to make:
1. Great video, excellent commentary
2. Yes please make a methodology video. I'd love to see a Matt Parker style breakdown that I only partly understand but fully appreciate.
3. There's a point at 7:30 when tyou go from Bowser castle to Dry dry and the footage of Waluigi perfectly transitions from one screen to the next, like he's driving between tracks. If you could edit your videos like this it would be total bullshit impressive and I'd become a patreon.

That comment comparing Sherbet Land to Bone Dry Dunes is so accurate lol. I notice both those tracks rarely get chosen, and when they are, people tend to do really poorly on them (provided you aren't in a pro room). Remember being really surprised how far ahead of the pack I was on Sherbet Land not even playing all that well.
Sherbet Land is a lot better than Bone Dry Dunes in my opinion. The air you get from those dunes is so annoying.

Thank you for having a goated opinion and agreeing on the fact that neo bowser city, bone-dry dunes, and sherbet land are good tracks. A lot of people bash on bone-dry dunes, but I love the challenge it brings and neo bowser city I feel the same about too. Sherbet land is also great, but I mainly enjoy that track because I have a bias for snow tracks
i think why people don't like sherbet land (mainly my opinion) is that the theme is a little dull and makes you feel like you're playing some boring penguin, ice and fire stage in super mario bros. It's also a weirdly relaxing course that just makes the game not as hyped up (boring in a way). And yes, i would rather play mario kart stadium cuz it's my favourite since it's easy and fun to speedrun or test stuff. It also has much for hype and feels "louder", like as if you were playing with a bunch of friends and stuff. The track's colours are also too light and the lights is a little shallow and plain, that makes you feel like the stage has a dark colour of tone when it doesn't. Compared to other tracks I don't really like it for the above reasons (it also makes you fell like you are your room on a dark rainy day staring at your computer, probably because i played this stage a lot on one rainy day.
Piranha Plant Side is fun to play for me. Imo. Its never boring and the music is awesome.
This video was awesome! It's great to see which tracks the MK players prefer statistically and your personal preferences. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it, but would like share my opinion on the rankings.
I don't think I can rank them first to last (or vise versa) without someone pulling all of my data and showing me how I actually have voted over the course of almost two years of playing this game. The best I can do is tiers. In each tier I list tracks I can't pick one over another, but would choose any over the next tier. In my rankings of the courses, I take everything into consideration: scenery, music, location and layout of the course.
Tier 1: Mount Wario, Rainbow Road, Yoshi Valley, Electrodrome - these are my FAVORITES! The tracks here give me the highest level of enjoyment playing the game by far and I always pick them over everything else.
Tier 2: Sherbet Land, Bowser's Castle, Hyrule Circuit, Neo Bowser City, Big Blue, Twisted Mansion, Wild Woods - my GOLD tier. These are very fun courses and I enjoy them lots, just not quite as much as the ones above.
Tier 3: Royal Raceway, Grumble Volcano, Thwomp Ruins, Sweet Sweet Canyon, DK Jungle, Wario's Gold Mine - my SILVER tier. Again, these are the tracks I actively pick and enjoy playing them a great deal.
Tier 4: SNES & N64 Rainbow Roads, Mario Circuit, Ice Ice Outpost, Sunshine Airport, Moo Moo Meadows, Cheep Cheep Beach, Mario Cart Stadium, Yoshi Circuit, Cheese land, Toad Harbor, Mute City, Cloud Top Cruise - my BRONZE tier. I do pick these and enjoy them, but not to the same extent as the ones above and these are never my first choice. This tier is also the last tier I actually pick.
Tier 5: Shy Guy Falls, Water Park, Wario Stadium, GBA Mario Circuit, Piranha Plant Slide, Tick Tock Clock, Ribbon Road, Dragon Driftway, Super Bell Subway, Dry Dry Desert, Bone Dry Dunes, Dolphin Shoals, Animal Crossing - the MEH tier. I never pick these and don't really have much fun playing them.
Tier 6: Donut Plains 3, Baby Park, Music Park, Toads Turnpike, Exitebike Arena - the SHIT tier. I never pick these and hate playing them. If I could block them or delete from my game, I would.
Now, to address a couple of things from your video.
To me, Wild Woods is a three-lap tree version of Big Blue. Both tracks go down the long water slide, the both have booster pads and some air time, so, to rank them that far apart is really weird.
Bone Dry Dunes is crap. The music sucks, it's twilight and all that sand. The difficulty of the course does not make up for all the detractors.
Wario's Gold Mine is just fun to play. Being in a gold mine is really cool, the music is neat and even though there is a couple of long straights, there are enough twists and turns to keep it really fun.
Just like you, I LOVE winter-themed courses and Sherbet Land is most definitely under-rated, more than any other track. Sherbet Land is the most wonderful time of the year! :)
Lastly, IMO, Ribbon Road is the most-OVER rated course in the game. It's in a small room and it feels cramped, the dubmass floating ribbon always messes up tricks or causes them when I'm not trying to trick.

One thing to note about DK Jungle’s music is the track is based off of DK Country Returns. The music comes from the Jungle Melody from that game.
The only music I'm finding there sounds pretty similar to the original DK jungle theme. Like I can see what they were going for with the MK8 remix, I just don't particularly care for it

Lots of takes I didn’t agree with, but we do agree on perhaps the two most important: GCN Sherbet Land is underrated and top tier, and Wild Woods is the best track.
23:10 this is why I used to dispise rainbow road 8 so much, when I was a noob I didn't know brake drifting was a thing, and I used a sports bike because I didn't really know the difference and it was the only course where I didn't consistently get top 3, often getting bottom 4
Once I learned how to play the game it got better tho, and it's probably around my 7th favorite track
Funny side note I have a vid on my switch from my brother who fell through the floor in rainbow road because of a lightning, so some scuffed-ness but very cool track

The turns and shortcuts are satisfying, the theme and music are SO cute, the end section has so many routes and just the right amount of chaos. Always good races here. I've played Mario Kart 8 a lot with my younger cousins throughout the years and they LOVE Excitebike Arena and Baby Park. They're just all in for the chaos. I actually think the game as a whole get's better because there are some non-sense tracks like those every now and then, although I agree that they're fairly boring otherwise.
Btw: Would love a follow up video ranking the DLC courses once all the waves are here!

In the beginning of the video, It was weird seeing how all the tracks that I REALLY disliked playing on were in the back of the tracks.

Small toss-up: would you consider ice ice outpost to have two or tgree cuts? Personally I'm unsure the middle dropdown one even saves time, but it feels so nice to pull off coming oit of the first one.
The wait for this video was worth it! Definitely liked watching it all. However, I’m left wondering what the results would look like based on the average VR of the players in the lobby. I’m assuming that since you’re very good at the game, you tend to play with more talented players; and the results of your exercise show this. However, whenever I play with friends who play the game only 2 or 3 times a year, there are a lot ir tracks they constantly choose, because they feel like anyone can win.
So, long story short, I suspect the results would be very different if you made the test with an average VR of 5K vs an average of 30K or more
Not only that, but I tend to mostly play at night after my kids go to bed, so my lobbies are almost entirely full of Japanese players since I do worldwides. One of the many limitations of this kind of analysis unfortunately

I've always been a maths fan, especially after I took Calculus-based Stats at school, since it's so darn applicable to everything. How did you get into R programming? How much math did you get into in school?
Neo Bowser City is definitely my favorite track. Yoshi Circuit is definitely one of my favorites and I usually front run and finish top 3. I’ve never really noticed the bagging. Same with Cheese Land. I always front run and end up top 3. The difference is I really don’t like Cheese Land that much. I also agree on N64 Rainbow road. I will sometimes close the game and open it back up if the track is picked online. Definitely my least favorite course.
Edit: I’m also not a fan of Ribbon Road. Mainly because I have a skill issue and never bothered to learn the track. But I also feel like I’m always getting bumped off when playing online. It’s just a little too bumpy for me.

Personally, Baby Park is one of my if not my absolut favourites. I just really like the chaos that is going on there and it could be anyone's game and I am not always f###ed by those darn Meta Players or people who have better skills than me.

I didn't keep track. For the purposes of this video tho it doesn't really matter much cause you can't know ahead of time whether or not you're going to get mirror / 200, and I'd be willing to wager that most people assume they're gonna be in 150cc all the time
