    Brother you had a 60fps cap on all your gaming benshmarks XD
    Rookie mistske, I'm assuming you used the laptop on battery and/or didn't disable the frame cap on the radeon gpu settings. Because of something called Optimus the integrated GPU hinders the dedicated one unless you use the right settings...

      Hey thanks for the tip. However this wasn't set (disabled by default) and yes it was on mains. What I did stupidly not do was set dedicated GPU as the NVIDIA 3050 in the NVIDIA control panel.

    Great review as usual. Based in your experience do you think that thinkpad models or thinkbook models are quieter in general? More precisely t14s gen 4.

    • @Dovecomputers
      @Dovecomputers  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks! The T14s Gen 4 will be quieter as it utilises the AMD U-series (Or Intel U-series) processors which are more battery efficient and lower TGP rating. AMD HS (Or the Intel H-series) processors are the 'full fat' processors that run hotter. If you add a dedicated GPU in the mix, the fans will work harder to cool down the components. 👍

    I bought a new Lenovo Yoga 7 pro 9th generation 2024 and it restarted several times after the screen was blurry and full of squares. It took about 5 seconds for it to restart and turn back on. I've had the laptop for a week and this has happened 3 times.
    Should I return it or is it possible that this is normal and has a reason.
    Thanks for the answers

      @@Dovecomputers On the back of your video, I bought this machine direct from Lenovo in Switzerland for the equivalent of £575. Even though it's more than the UK, it's an absolute steal as I said and it is fantastic, feels far more premium than the HP Elitebook 865 (RIP) which cost far more did - what a great keyboard for a laptop - I so prefer it when they make it full size and do away with the keypad. Really happy with my purchase and if I don't manage to break it, it'll see my needs for a good many years. Spread the word about how fantastic these are! It literally cost just £50 more than the plastic, basic, cheapo screen HP250 I was thinking of getting - and that was on promotion too. I also notice the latest model does away wit the HDMI port. For me working from home it's a real bonus to have this and not to need a dongle for this.

    Lenovo's wave of mega silent firings in early 2023 were absolutely despicable. They laid off thousands of really great people after posting record profits and bragging about moving up the Forbes list each quarter in their "All Hands" NA org sales meetings to those people that moved the needle for them. They ruined thousands of people's lives who relocated and rented or purchased new homes just to join the US sales organization during the digital boom of the pandemic and increase in business for them, forcing them to lose their homes and become homeless. Their warranty process is atrocious and considered terrible by anyone who has had to deal with service claims on top of this.

    I wish these yoga pro 7 models, both new and old, had 16 inch versions. I love all these 14 inch ones, but I wish they made the same portable premium devices for 16 inch. I guess I will pick up a 14 inch. Would you recommend the Yoga Pro 7 2024 with 32GB, Core Ultra 7, OLED and Arc iGPU or the previously recommended Yoga Slim 7 Gen 8 AMD 7840S model 32GB Oled with 780M? (I also looked at Thinkpad T14(s)/16 but they are much more expensive). I can get both these mentioned Yogas with 3 years of premium support for like 20 bucks extra, which is really cheap!

    • @Dovecomputers
      @Dovecomputers  6 месяцев назад +2

      The jury is still out on the Intel Ultra CPU's/Arc iGPU. Not convinced they are better than the AMD 7840S/U/HS. As the 2024 model is new*, pricing is high. If it was my money, I would go for the cheaper but 'more' powerful Yoga Slim 7 Gen 8, 7840S/780M, 32GB, OLED. This is currently my daily driver, love it. *Waiting for prices to come down before buying an Ultra 7/Arc review model. Also I personally think 14.5" is a good balance, 16" is too large to walk around with. I plug into a larger external monitor if I need it.

    • @Burbanana
      @Burbanana 6 месяцев назад

      @@Dovecomputers Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate your reviews and opinions on these things. I have a follow-up question though: If you took the Yoga Slim 7 Gen 8 and had the chance to pick between that, Spectre 14 2024 32GB OLED and any Thinkpad P- or T14s (AMD 7840U), or Zenbook 14 2024 32GB Core Ultra 9 OLED, not considering price, would you still pick it over the others? Also, does the Yoga Slim 7 Gen 8 bother you on your lap if it gets warmer? And how often do you use the touchsreen? I can get it cheaper without touchscreen because I have to pay +100 for the OS and +50 for touch if I want touch. Im leaning towards no touch

    • @Burbanana
      @Burbanana 6 месяцев назад

      @@Dovecomputers to add to my follow-up question: I can get the Yoga Slim 7 G8 with 7840S, 32GB, 90hz OLED, no touch, no OS for 1143 Euros incl. tax. The new Yoga Pro 7 2024 with intel CU7 and RTX 4050 and 32GB, 120HZ OLED, no touch, no OS would cost me 1543 incl. tax. Both get 3 yearpremier support for 25 euros. I think the only advantage of new intel is a little better single core, negligible, and less sustained wattage during load. So yeah I also prefer AMD side, but I wouldnt mind new Core Ultra. Considering these prices, I believe the decision is easy. And you an only get the Arc iGPU-only version with an IPS display, you can't get the igpu-only model with an OLED display. It costs 1340 in that config. I do wonder if there is a huge difference between their premium IPS and OLED displays.

    • @Dovecomputers
      @Dovecomputers  6 месяцев назад

      @@Burbanana There's also the new Yoga Pro 9i Gen 9 (16" Intel) to consider! The Yoga Pro 7 (Gen 9) IPS 3K panel is a touchscreen. Not much between the OLED and the IPS panels.

    • @Burbanana
      @Burbanana 6 месяцев назад

      @@Dovecomputers hmm so you're saying the IPS are worth considering (I only have an OLED TV, so no experience there). This would make the 120hz and Arc iGPU** appealing for 200 more, and I guess better battery life? But CPU, chassis etc. will be the same or worse for more. Thanks for your input
