It has been a year since your last laptop giveaway. I really need a system for work. Could you send me your old or unused laptop, Josh? That would be a great blessing for me. Thanks
@@badnainot OP, but i suggest getting one with a gpu that suits your budget, if you're not looking into making complex 3D games, or just 2D, get the cheapest one. Also try out the keyboard if you can, it makes a huge difference when you're comfortable typing, I had to bring my mech keyboard everywhere cause it's cozier for me
If you get a lenovo Keyboard, you'll never look back. Used yoga c740 in the past, now using X1 Yoga, and man, the keyboard experience is on a different level compared to all the older pcs.
I note that Lenovo's website still lists the Yoga Pro 9i as "available soon" on the US website (as of April 2nd). That's fine. More concerning is that the tech specs list the GPU options as 4050 or 4060. No mention of the 4070 reviewed here. Hard to say what that really means. But it could be that those of us in the USA who are waiting for the 4070 version to become available will be disappointed. I asked an online Lenovo rep via their website chat, and the answer received was: "Hello there, please know that at the moment we still don't know if the Yoga Pro 9i will be released in the USA with a 4070 GPU, however I can gladly let you know at your email as soon as we have that information"
Today (April 4) Lenovo's US website is now listing a 4060 model for sale, delivery expected end of May. No 4050 model offered, and the tech specs continue to say that 4050 and 4060 are the only GPU options. I assume we'll have to wait until late May before it's really clear whether or not the 4070 GPU in this laptop will be offered for sale in the USA.
Fantastic work mate. As a Mac user, it has always been hard to find a gaming channel that covered battery life and especially fan noise as key factors for buying a PC kaptop. Love this channel !
Awesome review. Very well done. Can I make a suggestion? At the end of each review video, could you display a particular table, that we viewers could screen shot? The table title would be for the particular class of laptop the reviewed laptop belongs to. Then each row in the table would list this laptop’s most relevent competitors (often I don’t know which laptops provide a “apples to apples” comparison.) Then the columns of the table display a rating from 1.0 to 10.0 for each major category: power, graphics, installed RAM, WiFi strength, battery life, keyboard temperature, price, etc. That way, in one shot I can know this reviewed laptop’s competitors, and how each of them compare relative to each other in the various features and help me decide which one is best for me. For example, for me personally, screen brightness and keyboard quality are more important than battery life. A consideration would be whether the scores for each feature are only relative to each other within this laptop category (ordinal scal ranking) , or if they are a rating that applies to every 2024 laptop in every use case category (e.g. 9.8 might mean the best rating, period, in a particular feature, like battery life, among all laptops one can purchase in 2024, from cheap, to super expensive.
Hi Josh. Nice job on the review!!! Mine gets here on Tuesday. 32 GB Memory, 4060 GPU, touch mini LED screen, and Win 11 Pro. Got it for $455 off on the Lenovo web site! Thanks for the great reviews and all the work that you and your team put into them.
Hi, I’m thinking of maybe buying one of this, can you tell me your thoughts on it since you got it, mainly I want to know about the battery because I have seen that it runs out pretty fast
@@leonardopena3369 mine is the 9i with the Intel I9, 32 gig of Ram, 1T SSD, the 4060 discreet video and the mini LED. Pretty power hungry even on the most economic setting. That said, if you need more than 4 hours of battery life, there are better offerings out there I think. My case, I'm typically at a place where I can plug in and rarely need to use it when I'm not. I will also say that the purchase process was great! I ordered directly from Lenovo. The purchasing process was great, it delivered quickly at no cost delivering on the day they promised, and the packaging protected the device well. Good luck!
Trying to figure out if I should get the Legion 7i or Yoga Pro 9i. I like the Yoga for overall efficiency but the Legion for more performance. Primary usage will be Resolve, Blender and possibly some programming.
I got in the same situation too. For me, I do Blender and programming too but I also don't do much gaming and would like a decent screen with decent battery, so I go with Yoga. If you do Blender profesionally (as a job) and requires power I think Legion can also be a great choice. Either way, this is just my thoughts, I'm still kinda lost 😅
I ordered my Yogi 9i a four days ago when it finally came available for me. The order said I would get it May 28-30, a long wait but I've been waiting since Josh's review for it to become available. I got 32Gb RAM, 1TB storage and 3.2K (3200 x 2000), Mini-LED, Glare, Touch screen. 2 days ago I got am email saying it was on and now I am getting it tomorrow April 10th !!!! can't wait to get it and see how it performs, Thanks again for the review Josh and also your suggestion I wait for this laptop if I was in no hurry. I also got a $100 discount code from Lenevo which was good.
@@forestfire47 Today I started to use it by installing Win 11 Pro and then the apps I use on a regular basis. I cant say I have used it long enough to say how I like it. I'm a desktop guy and have been using an iPad for years so the last laptop I bought had Win 7.......lol With that said the display is amazing, I watched a few 4k videos and they were so crisp and clear to the point I have never seen anything like it on a computer. I can only say it is like my 4K Smart TV's. The laptop feels solid and the keyboard is great to use, it has a nice backlight and the keys feel very good. It will be a few days before I really start using it but once again I am a desktop guy, I got this just to have a new laptop for when I travel. I have to set it up the way I like my computers, I also have to get rid of the Microsoft free trail of office off the laptop. Sorry this isn't much of a review on the Yogi 9i 2024 but I don't regret spending the money I did to buy it.
Great review! I traded in my 2023 Yoga Pro 9i for this years. One thing I noticed is that Lenovo removed the "balanced" performance setting and replaced it with "intelligent cooling", which I've been using. I had no problem with thermals or fan noise on the 2023 version, but I'm noticing a lot more fan noise and even hitting thermal throttling unless I keep the laptop well elevated for air flow. I don't know if you still have this laptop on hand, but I would be interested to see if this is a change between the 2023 and 2024 models or if I perhaps have a bad unit.
i am simply would like to buy a laptop to myself for mostly programming (embedded sw/hw) and some entertainment. i am looking for higher resolution, good display, higher refresh rate, portability higher battery life. dGpu is not important for me hence i have a desktop for that reason. so far i have three choices: Yoga Pro 9i 2024, Asus Zephyrus G16 and Macbook Pro 16 m3 pro/max or m2 max with similar configuration (32/32 gb ram 1 tb ssd). So would yoga pro really fit for this cases? thanks ^^
Thank you - great and honest review as always! Could you do a comparison of this laptop vs the new 2024 Legion 7i? Both offer a great balance between work and gaming.
Great review, Josh and team. The one thought i would have is, what is the excuse for the second usb c port not being TB on a laptop of this price? We sometimes get on Apple for deficiencies, but at least all usb c ports on MacBooks since 2020 have been TB. Also, the slower sd card reader -- it feels like Lenovo just wanted to check a box by including that port. Nonetheless, this does seem to be a pretty great laptop, and I am really glad to see 100w to the 4070. That is so important for people who might game some on this device. It makes this machine game as well with a 4070 as any other 'gaming' laptop with that component since the 4070 really doesn't gain any performance above 100w.
This isn't being advertised as a Gaming laptop but is clearly up there with Zephyrus G16 with a 4070! Though after looking at the Specs, the G16 seems to be a little bit thinner, which might explain cooler temperatures and lower fan noise on this.
@@JustJoshTechbetween the yoga pro 9i for $1699.99 and the g16 on sale for $1599.99 which one should i buy id mainly use for email and watching videos . Gaming on like fortnite possibly but not a dealbreaker for me.
Great video :) Been looking forward to this laptop! The official specs note the HDMI port as: "HDMI 2.1, 6Gbps, up to 4K/60Hz" The 6Gbps meaning, that it is greatly cut down from the 48 Gbps HDMI 2.1 usually supports. Could you test whether or not it actually can do 4k/60Hz (at 8 and 10 bit)? Or if it is only able to do it with Chroma subsampling.
EDIT Correction: see @theLugi6 response I hate the HDMI spec renaming what 2.1 means, causing this confusing mess. And again, anything but the full 48Gbps bandwidth is unacceptable for this type of machine.
@@RedBeardedRabbitah, that makes a surprising amount of sense. Sadly in the video it specifically mentioned HDMI 2.1 TMDS. Which cuts the usable lanes from 4 to 3, since one is needed as a timing signal. If this is true, we'd have 18Gbps, which is the same as HDMI 2.0 and is barely not enough for 4k/60 10 bit. According to wikipedia, the highest video data rate for TMDS would just be 14.4Gbps, while the rest is used for all the extra features like audio, ethernet and error correction?
Hey Josh, if it is not too much to ask, could you do a review for the top laptops atm for heating meals on their bottom side when charging? My new dorm has a horrible kitchen and I need an alternative solution. A budget option would be appreciated since I cannot buy the XPS : (
Is there any change you are reviewing laptops like the TUXEDO Stellaris 16 or similar laptops? Would be nice to see some Linux friendly laptops and your opinion on them
Hi Josh, thank you for reviewing this laptop. As always great 👍 The only thing that is unusual for you is not to mention the PWM flickering of the screen. I wish you could tell your opinion.
My "problem" is that I usually use laptops inside and I have got the minimum screen brightness set, so I always watch for the "pwm" when purchasing a laptop. This one, according to "notebookcheck net" does have pwm flickering at 6000 Hz and below 70% brightness level, which applies to me definitely. I may not be sensitive to this, but as I am using my laptop 8+ hours a day, I'm not planning on testing it ...
In the UK, it is not for sale yet, but the 13th gen is £2900 for i9/64GB/1TB/4070, so I expect the same spec Core Ultra to be £3200 or close. That is not cheap. I think the US get deals at the expense of us in Europe as I would easily choose an MB Pro 16 M3 Max and pay £200 more for the above spec.
Hey Josh and team! What do you recommend, a yoga pro 9i with ultra core 9, 32gb ram, mini-led touch, rtx 4060 (2300€) or Legion slim 7i glacier white with 13700h, 32gb ram, rtx 4060, 3200 res screen (1550€). The Yoga is brand new with 3 years premium care warranty, while the Legion only has a one year warranty, and is from ebay, apparently had faulty ram which was repaired (checked repair ticket with lenovo) , the seller mentioned the faulty ram but claims the laptop was unused. I have seen tons of your reviews, and decided to take your advice and order the Yoga pro 9i. I would mainly use it for music production but like doing some color grading when I have the time. I don't game. I wanted something that was closest to a Windows Macbook Pro laptop. (good screen, build, speakers, etc) The Legion just popped up and the difference in price is significant (800€) I would love to know what your recommendation would be. Is the Yoga pro 9i worth 800€ more? (I still have a chance to return the Yoga and buy the Legion if its still available) You guys are all awesome, just keep up the wonderful work, the community really appreciates what you guys do. Thank you and all the best!
Sir, I love your content and want to buy that laptop in the USA. But your links and everything I find is the 4060 version? You reviewed the 4070 that I can’t even find
We probably should have done it in this one, as its a very good one for coders. What i'll try to do is do the Linux testing in laptops that I believe are good for coders. I don't think we need to do it in all though, as unfortunatley it's a smaller audience
@@JustJoshTech Would love to see Linux compatibility testing on the new asus duo 2024 if you review it. Would probably have to write some script to auto enable disable secondary screen on keyboard attach event but as long as everything else works I'd be happy to do that.

Hi! Thanks for very detailed and good reviews! Can you make and video comparison of the Lenovo Yoga Pro 16 9i 2024 and Asus Rog G16 2024 as a content creation usability? Keep on good work!
I have got this laptop and it has got everything you need. The major problem is even on normal use it gets overheated, to an extent that it starts burning trust me you can make a toast on that, I have checked online there is no solution available. Everyone who has that laptop, they are complaining about overheating issues.
Everything is great(aside from weight being meh), but what stops me from buying it if the fact that keyboard and trackpad are shifted to the left because of the numpad. I don’t understand why they had to sacrifice ergonomics for this rarely used part of the keyboard
Saying numpad is rarely used is wrong. I remember framework had poll whether the user want numpad in their laptop or not and the result is almost split 50:50
I think the ROG G16 is a better product for you, lower weight, centered keyboard, and just as amazing with the same CPU. Leave the lenovo to the people that need the numpad.
@@Arkan_Fadhila this is just an assumption from me, but I think that at least half of those people who voted for numpad - don't actually use it daily, it's just that if the question you ask is "Do you want to have this?" - more people would be inclined to say yes, because they think "i use it from time to time", but they don't consider the drawbacks of having this thing.
Yeah, it looks great, but seems a bit noisy. For now sticking with my Lenovo Slim 7 Pro X 14.5, great laptop for money, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, 3050 and 3K display for under 1$ is a bargain
@@alexp3577 you're right, but just talking about my experience i always have problem when i do'nt have full-size keyboard even i'm not an accountant. I find myself still type quite a lot of numbers so i prefer numpad. While there is some people want numpad but doesn't know the struggle of it i think there is still people who aware about such struggle yet still prefer having numpad
Hey Josh and Team, this laptop just released here starting at 1999 Euros. I can get a 10% discount. I initially wanted to configure it with a CU7, 64GB RAM and either iGPU or the lowest dGPU. However, (for the time being) I can only configure it with a CU9 if I want 32GB or up, which gets me an RTX 4060 at minimum. If I decide that I want 64GB I am forced to buy the 4070 model. I do full stack web development running an IDE and sometimes another editor on the side, a browser with lots of tabs, and either a VM or WSL (windows subsystem for linux). I also do other personal side projects with languages like Go. Question is, am I future proofed enough and should I get the CU9/RTX4060/32GB config for about 2K, or pay the 370 euros premium for the RTX4070 / 64GB model?
Finally a review of this system, I have been waiting eons to see a full dive into it. Don't get me wrong, I still have issues with the decisions Lenovo is making, but they're still overall a solid laptop. Unfortunately, they killed the 14 inch, which had better battery life and port selection and was more portable, probably why they killed it off because they were tired of getting roasted for the smaller laptop being better. Also, something that needs to be clarified by channels doing reviews of this system: the 4070 SKU does not appear on the Lenovo Canada website, so if it is available, it is only available in the US, which is such a miss by Lenovo again, especially for the likely $3,000 price point in this market. It is also not available with 64GB of memory in the Canadian market. I don't understand why manufacturers bother to release these products in markets outside the US if they're hindered versions. Why would you not want your best products available across the global market? It's idiotic, and infuriating as someone that's been in tech for over 20 years and has watched this BS become more common. Edit: Evidently it only comes with a 4060 in the US market as well, at least according to Lenovo's own website. So, seemingly, they're not bringing the 4070 model to either of their biggest markets. I just don't understand. Stop sending a model to reviewers that nobody in their market can buy, or even in any market, it seems.
US isn't getting the 4070 sku either, just the 4060. BUT a full powered 4060 at that. There are a TON of under powered 4070's floating around the laptop landscape right now like the Samsung Galaxy Book Ultra 4 so at least Yoga doesn't skimp out in that regard. I would have also liked this with a 4070 and 64gb of ram...
Hi Josh, I bought the Lenovo Yoga 9i 2024 Gen 9 2-in-1 14-inch recently, and I've noticed that the OLED display has a lot of graininess. Upon my research, I found that this issue is caused by the GF2 or OGM (One Glass Metal mesh), which is a digital layer on top of the OLED screen. I'm wondering if the Yoga 9i Pro 2024 has the same issue. Unfortunately, it's not available in my region yet. Thank you.
hello josh i was wondering how was the color accuarcy on the yoga pro 9i 16 display was the dci p3 100% i know last years model was a lil off sometimes the blacks were washwed out looking to purchase this laptop i loved last years model but the battery life was terrible as we all know am using the new spectre with the 4050 which i like and the oled is really nice so whats your opinion on this years yoga pro 9i 16 display
I have been waiting patiently for this review after it was announced at CES, FINALLY! Hope that it gets Josh's seal of approval like it did with the Slim 7 of 3 years back, it's time for it to retire :). You are the only laptop reviewer I trust, so I hope for the best! (Usecase: front-end development & ux design)
Too bad about the card slot not being UHS-II speed. A USB-C port on both sides with charging support would've been welcome, too. Still, the bright and color-accurate screen is still a winner. I hope it becomes available soon in Europe! Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the thorough presentation. I am also looking for something very portable. For 4K-5K video editing in davinci and large video exports, would you rather go with this one or with HP spectre x360 32GB RAM ? (If macbook is not an option)
Nice video as always. Also you could mention that this one has a numpad, which maters to some people and tends to disappear in other laptops (even 16"). I just wish they would keep the touchpad centered instead of shifting it to the left.
No left is better I have a laptop where touchpad is in middle and when I blindtype (using every finger) my hand touches the touchpad which is very annoying for coding to the left is way better
Is the spectre 16 in these charts really that good? It shows a huge battery life and 20W score for the perf/watt test. (especially because you said you havent seen this level of efficiency before on core ultra) Im torn between these two right now.
I got the last years 9i pro 14,5” miniled with i9,4070 64gb lpddr5 and I have highly enjoyed it. Yeah battery life ain’t great but other things count up for that.
I will soon need to buy a laptop for school, will I encounter problems with virtualization ( since it's the meteorlake group ) ? Should i go for the 2023 version or the version with intel core ultra
What's the status of running an Ubuntu Linux Live USB? I had to return THREE laptops for non working speakers from two different brands because that's a problem.
Hi @Just Josh, can you confirm if with this laptop i can connect three additional monitors? Each with its own screen space to do something (no mirroring)
Is the display to be recommended even without the glossy panel? I was in a store and was looking at the Mini-LED non-touch version and I didn't find it at all close to OLED/MacBook Mini-LED quality
hello! would this be a better option than the MacBook Pro m3 max? I know it would be cheaper, but is it worth saving that money? for programming and heavy uses like that, but not gaming. Thank you so much!
Does the model in this video have a mini-LED or an IPS screen? Slightly worried that mini-LED one will have a bad battery life. But if you say this model has a respectable battery life & has a mini-LED screen, then I feel good about going with that screen type. Enjoying your channel the most of any laptop review channel Ive found! Great stuff.
Hi Josh! Could you check if the HDMI 2.1 port on the new Yoga Pro 9i is the full 48Gbps capable of 4k 120Hz? In my country, the spec sheet seems to say HDMI 2.1 6Gbps. Thank you!
@JustJoshTech hi Josh! I Have this laptop And i Have 2 opinions how to improve your reviews. First - please Tell US more about the possible resolution on external display connected to the laptop. For the instance - this laptop Is not able to run 4k@100Hz+ display. Only 4k@60Hz which Is frustrating. - how much can be laptop charged via USbc/TB. You can charge this laptop via USbc - however, cpu Will be limited to 30W, so IT Is not usable at all. When you connect thé laptop to Power via USbc, all cores Are limited to only 2.3+- GHz... Sad. Of course we have 100W charger and usbc cabel with powerdelivery.. it does not matter.
It looks like it will yet again only come with a 4060 in the US. Would you still recommend for someone that does 3d modeling and Unreal Engine work? I really am attracted to the PureSight MiniLED screen.
Yes I would. 4060 to 4070 isn't that different. its more about the power that the manufacturer feeds it. So if Lenovo feeds 4060 similar power, then performance will be similar
Hi, I'm an upcoming student from the UK and was wondering if this laptop would be good for the following: studying and university and video editing as I'm thinking of starting a yt channel but can't afford a MacBook

Edit: should I get the legion 7i (4070) or yoga pro 9i (4060) these lie in the exact same price point atleast where i live
I have been waiting patiently for this video! I have this laptop in my wish list based on what I read about it and thought this would be better than the Asus Zenbook and Studiobook. Asus seems to have quality issues that I cannot look past. I could tell from the smile on your face during this information that you were very pleased with this laptop! The specs check out and I wanted your video to see if my hunch was validated. This is mine come April!!! Thanks for uploading!
Hi Josh, i bought the 8th gen version of this laptop, and if i try to setup the same configuration on Lenovo's website for the 9th gen i end up paying 800€ more than the last gen (bought mine at 1400€, new one is 2200€). Would you say it's worth it? Thanks and keep up the quality content!
Dear Bro, The MacBook Pro you always include in comparisons, cost more than double or so than the object you are reviewing. Isn't it unfair comparison? I mean, not just unfair, is it not misleading also? If at all, you want to add any Apple product in comparison, my humble request, please add so at similar price point. Thanks for your videos though.
hey Josh, thanks for the great video. Have you ever heard of the horribly designed 'side power switch' that fails very easily? There are tons of complaints about this and some proper research about it might help us out, maybe even a video about it. Salem also has a video about it saying he always got lots of Yoga's with that issue in for repair, which turn out barely repairable. I am personally wanting this, but its out in April sadly. Also, any news on Spectre 16 watt/perf limit?
I'm nitpicking here, but isn't the contrast between the keys and the laptop too low, to the point where it's hard to see the keys? I know certain light grey colorways from ASUS are notorious for this, so was wondering if this Lenovo Yoga Pro might have the same issue.
Thank you Josh for the review. Could you please also make a review of Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 2024 (14IMH9)? It seems to be the 14" version of the laptop from this review and advise which one you'd recommend to go for?
Hi Josh! first of all, can't thank you enough for the quality of the in-depth review you provide for the community. I have a query - in Australia, this laptop is going on a sale with the following IPS display spec - 'IPS, Glare, Touch, 400 nits, 165Hz, Glass'. How does it compare to the Mini-Led panel? Will it be worth it to go for the IPS panel?
the only reason prevented me from buying this laptop is that Thunderbolt port is only one that supports up to 8K@60Hz, other usbc and HDMI port doesn't as per the product specifications page! come on Lenovo!
I thought Core Ultra mainly came with 32GB or 16GB. It is not up for sale in the UK yet so I cannot help. Last year's model came with 64GB so I wonder if it is the other way round?
@@andyH_England That's what I'm seeing as well for the Core Ultras. If you google "Yoga Pro 9i", there is a Lenovo result page that has the specs and it says Up to 32GB. I couldn't find the page browsing Lenovo's website. Had to google it.
I have a problem with my displays running on the intel arc graphics and not the nvidia one and in the nvidia control panel it is locked to the optimus setting and wont let me change it when i have an external monitor connected. I connect it to the hdmi port and still wont let me change anything. Is there anything i can do about this?
Can you do a video about best touchpads? I know MacBook is usually the winner but I have to use software that doesn’t do well on macs for work. Would be great seeing a comparison of touchpads since this video didn’t really talk about the touchpad and some videos leave me wondering. Can’t always use a mouse, especially when on the go working in the car.
Hi, can I ask for more details? I am mainly interested in the noise of the fans when powered from the adapter. I plan to use it with two monitors for working with large photos and occasional gaming.
@justjosh I have been waiting for this laptop since January, and now that it comes out it only has 4050 and 4060 options, NOT the 4070 we've been shown by reviewers everywhere. THIS SUCKS!!! I'm getting the Asus G16 instead.
I'd be very careful with this. The Asus G16 is thinner, lighter, feels more premium, and has those higher dedicated graphics (available for sale) but as I said in the review, its fan noise is much much much worse. So buyer beware there.
@justjoshtech can you post if you hear anything back from Lenovo? Assuming it’s just a slow US rollout.. but if they were to decide not to release the max spec options here I think a lot of people, myself included, would look at competitor options.
I just received mine with rtx 4070 and the battery life seems to be horrible. I am getting 2-3h of battery life max out of the laptop while doing daily tasks such web surfing or watching a video with brightness being around 400nits and 60hz refresh rate. I was just wondering if it is just me or other people are experiencing the same issue?
Ive been looking at all the 2in1's and the inly remaining comparison is the new Samsung Book 4 2in1. I'm just glad i can sit and wait after this review since the spectre 360 is about to go off sale. The performance difference is too wide!
I hate that the 14 inch model isnt being updated. Its probably super hard to cram all that performance into something smaller, but I really really dont want a 16 inch laptop or number pad.
I need help... The touchpad has been a nightmare I got the laptop 2 days ago I uploaded the drivers and tried some other things but no solution. When I plug in something it starts lagging

I asked an online Lenovo rep via their website chat, and the answer received was:
"Hello there, please know that at the moment we still don't know if the Yoga Pro 9i will be released in the USA with a 4070 GPU, however I can gladly let you know at your email as soon as we have that information"

Then each row in the table would list this laptop’s most relevent competitors (often I don’t know which laptops provide a “apples to apples” comparison.)
Then the columns of the table display a rating from 1.0 to 10.0 for each major category: power, graphics, installed RAM, WiFi strength, battery life, keyboard temperature, price, etc.

@@forestfire47 Today I started to use it by installing Win 11 Pro and then the apps I use on a regular basis. I cant say I have used it long enough to say how I like it. Hi! How do you like it so far??
Great review! I traded in my 2023 Yoga Pro 9i for this years. One thing I noticed is that Lenovo removed the "balanced" performance setting and replaced it with "intelligent cooling", which I've been using. I had no problem with thermals or fan noise on the 2023 version, but I'm noticing a lot more fan noise and even hitting thermal throttling unless I keep the laptop well elevated for air flow. I don't know if you still have this laptop on hand, but I would be interested to see if this is a change between the 2023 and 2024 models or if I perhaps have a bad unit.

I can not get my hands on the 14inch but the 2in1 is everywhere I would also love a comparison
These are now available in the US and Australia, yet both stores show no 4070 model

Great video :) Been looking forward to this laptop!
The official specs note the HDMI port as:
"HDMI 2.1, 6Gbps, up to 4K/60Hz"
The 6Gbps meaning, that it is greatly cut down from the 48 Gbps HDMI 2.1 usually supports. Could you test whether or not it actually can do 4k/60Hz (at 8 and 10 bit)? Or if it is only able to do it with Chroma subsampling.
Holy Moly, 6 Gbps ? That would be a joke. A bad one!
Ooo good catch!
EDIT Correction: see @theLugi6 response
I hate the HDMI spec renaming what 2.1 means, causing this confusing mess. And again, anything but the full 48Gbps bandwidth is unacceptable for this type of machine.
@@RedBeardedRabbit agreed, might have to look at the spectre 360 the only issue is battery life. Biggest thing I would miss from the Macbook Pro
I was waiting for this to decide whether to wait for the 2024 model. I absolutely am waiting, this is phenomenal. Great review

Hi Josh, thank you for reviewing this laptop.
As always great 👍
The only thing that is unusual for you is not to mention the PWM flickering of the screen.
It's certainly a good perfoming machine, but hesitant to say it's good overall without the price
I believe it's about $2k for 4060
Base model is $1700 for 2024 version
In the UK, it is not for sale yet, but the 13th gen is £2900 for i9/64GB/1TB/4070, so I expect the same spec Core Ultra to be £3200 or close. That is not cheap. I think the US get deals at the expense of us in Europe as I would easily choose an MB Pro 16 M3 Max and pay £200 more for the above spec.
I'm sold. I'm going to get one this year!
(good screen, build, speakers, etc)
The Legion just popped up and the difference in price is significant (800€)
I would love to know what your recommendation would be. Is the Yoga pro 9i worth 800€ more?
(I still have a chance to return the Yoga and buy the Legion if its still available)

Edit: should I get the legion 7i (4070) or yoga pro 9i (4060) these lie in the exact same price point atleast where i live
Hi i have Lenovo Yoga 4070 with 32gb model. Location sweden. If you interested, reply. So we can talk more
Super helpful! Help me finalize my decision! Thank you!
I don't think its worth $800 euro more. I'd say maybe $400. Last year's is still excellent. I'd get that if the difference is $800 Euro
@@JustJoshTech Thank you so much for the quick reply! You're the best reviewer i've ever seen, keep it up!
It depends on a region. In my country, price of brand new m4 mbp16 is not that much higher than yoga pro 9i.
Hey, would you rather recommend the Yogo Pro 9i or the Slim 7i? I want a notebook for studying, coding and gaming. Thanks in advance!
2024 Pro 9i is much better
@shTech Thanks for the fast response! I am sorry, I meant the Legion 7i (2024).
So no 4070 with the mini led glossy touch screen? Only shows the 4060 for me :/
just get the 4060 and use dlss and frame gen for super heavy triple A titles. 4070 only averages 5 - 10 more fps at native resolution
@@BlackBruceLeeTheGreatDekuTree i would use the laptop mostly for 4k multi layered video editing
@@Travel_Stache ahhh
The Lenovo Yoga 9i 16" with the Nvidia RTX 4070 is a UNICORN!
Still not available as an option as of today. Very disappointing, and 64GB RAM is not available either.
hey Josh, thanks for the great video.
We have been informed by HP that the Spectre 16 has a bug with performance. So our review is on hold while they address it
@shTech thanks Josh, Team. Is this one also comfortable when using on the lap?
Hi Josh, the Lenovo website says "Up to 32GB RAM", you said 64GB in video. I really want 64. Do you have special knowledge here?
Now thats a laptop worth buying. We just need more info on the diferent skews and price.
I got one with max specs. This thing runs so cool for the performance I love it!
And p.s. I will let Lenovo know about the demand for the RTX 4070 config
@@JustJoshTech Thank you very much for doing this.
@justjoshtech can you post if you hear anything back from Lenovo? Assuming it’s just a slow US rollout.. but if they were to decide not to release the max spec options here I think a lot of people, myself included, would look at competitor options.
@@dennisokelly9293 Dennis this is SO disappointing. After waiting 3 months for the laptop to release something different is terrible.
I just received mine with rtx 4070 and the battery life seems to be horrible. I am getting 2-3h of battery life max out of the laptop while doing daily tasks such web surfing or watching a video with brightness being around 400nits and 60hz refresh rate. I was just wondering if it is just me or other people are experiencing the same issue?
i can't seem to spec mine with a 4070 only a 4060 or 4050
same. what gives?
Same.
the 4070 option wasn't avaliable in the US last year and it looks like it may be the same this year
I need to know if getting the mini led is a deal breaker or not?
The one I would like to pay has an IPS 400 nitz
Great video review
Do you guys recommend it for music production?
How would the 16" rate against the 16" Legion 5i Pro with similar RAM, GPU and SSD, both in terms of performance and value?
should you turn it off after use or just close it?
Do you guys plan to do a Legion 7i Gen 9 review soon?
Of course but not soon. It isn't for sale in the USA yet
@@JustJoshTech best buy is now selling it! 👍
@@PixlBrothers perfect thank you
Ive been looking at all the 2in1's and the inly remaining comparison is the new Samsung Book 4 2in1. I'm just glad i can sit and wait after this review since the spectre 360 is about to go off sale. The performance difference is too wide!
Do you have the link to your best laptop video? Would like to see what other laptops were in the list.
I hate that the 14 inch model isnt being updated. Its probably super hard to cram all that performance into something smaller, but I really really dont want a 16 inch laptop or number pad.
Nice. Wish they made a slimmer version without a dedicated GPU though.
We want the 14 inch model...for this year! With intel cpu and nvidia graphics....
I need help... The touchpad has been a nightmare I got the laptop 2 days ago I uploaded the drivers and tried some other things but no solution. When I plug in something it starts lagging
the last year 2023 was giving 40 percent of 4060 models not 17 percent as you mentioned in the video after the torcher test.😃😃
