I’d speculate that it was him because the story has the classic symptoms of hypothermia. Taking clothes off and major shock.

i was thinking the same thing
was just about to say this most hypothermia cases the people get the sensation that they're hot and start removing clothing and the him not responding to someone calling him was just his body shutting down but alive still.

It is possible that he suffered from hypothermia because one you get to the end and stages of hypothermia 9% of the time you will find them butt ass naked because they get so cold that their body starts thinking they're really really hot so they take everything off and just walk around barefoot and then he could have ended up falling into the ravine and never being found again
I’ve seen from a documentary about Everest that during the last stages of hypothermia (like others here have said) people get delirious and also start having hallucinations like a yeti chasing you. If the figure did hear the searcher they either were too focused running away or thought the searcher was some kind of dangerous creature out to kill him.

He was watching Mr.Ballen videos while walking... It happens to me all the time when I'm on a new Ballen vid. Girlfriend yelling my name while laying next to me and I don't hear a thing! It happens.
My advice is don't press your luck.

Probably was him...the cold can sometimes put you a delirious state
Everyone always says hypothermia but in most of those cases the people start acting strange LONG before the hypothermia would have set in. It's a process. You don't just jump straight to hypothermia and die. First you get cold at which point any rational human being would try to warm themselves not decide to leave their gear and half their clothes and wander around in the elements.
That's why so many people don't see that as a viable answer. Even more so when you factor in other weird events in these stories.

Hey Mr Ballen, I love your videos and podcasts, been following since the RUclips channel started. When you used to upload 3,4 or even 5 times a week. With the growth of the channel and moving into different platforms I completely understand slowing down the uploads to RUclips and moving to Amazon for the podcasts. If he’d been in the service, he’d probably trained himself not to turn around when someone is yelling your name because every time that happens, it’s just someone who wants to make you do something stupid

Sounds exactly like losing your mind to hypothermia like all your perception just shut down and you just keep moving I got hypothermic once when I went out hunting and I don't even remember coming back home
It gets really quiet during a snowstorm. The snow insulates everything so much that it's entirely possible he never heard the yells or shots.

Like many say this fits well with Hypothermia, but also could be a schizophrenic episode. Had a friend / room mate that had to deal with this back in the day. We found him in the shower with all his clothes on standing under the ice cold water spray, 'cause he had spent all the hot water. Had to break down the door to rescue him. Didn't seem like he knew he was wet or cold, although his skin had turned a dark blue at this point.
He also didn't respond what-so-ever to us yelling from the outside
He didn’t turn around because he needed to get back to the popcorn factory.

This reminded me of that one cabin balcony story for some reason, but the skeptic in me is assuming this was hypothermia/hypoxia and not some fellow barefoot supernatural creature (I am in a wheelchair w a nerve disorder and I love to snow walk barefoot, I also love polar plunges and leaving the window open in -5°f snowstorms so it snows on my face while I’m sleeping)

I was caught out all night in 25 degrees. Had a core temperature of 84 degrees. I had laid down on a picnic table during the day fell asleep and nearly froze, had severe frost bite. I was found blocks from where I laid down. He was freezing and was not thinking.
If they did turn around to gun shots there was obviously something wrong with them

My guess is he was either in shock or in a fugue state where he wasn't aware of his surroundings enough to register the calls

Hyperthermia would lead to him feeling hot hence being barefoot and also confused so may have thought the person calling out and firing shots was after him, if by then he even heard them as his brain would be shutting down
