eminem kept me here for 20+ years
And naughty by nature imo too

@@A.T.S.. I don't disagree there. Def some of my first memories of introduction to hip hop! 👏🏻👏🏻👊
for me bc of my mom, it was LL Cool J .. like to this day, without looking it up I can quote the first few bars of I'm Gonna Knock You Out, ex:
"Don't call it a comback, cause I've been here for years, putting my peers and suckers in fear (might have gotten that last part wrong)
I’m from Africa but I will go with Eminem 🇿🇲

Wtf does that have to do with anything lmao
I'm also from Africa, I would guess that eminem internationally, in the early 2000 had a bigger impact than Jay z. that all crew of Dre, eminem and G unit
Of course you would.

The whole Indian Hip hop scene is literally a birth because of Eminem
Indians are white people worshippers. That's not a surprise.
Not only Indian, whole Asian.

@@secondaccount6660 Of course, not everybody are same 😂
@secondaccount6660 you so cool you eat ice cream with a fork, don't you?
I’m Asian from Canada and through Eminem, I discovered jayz, Nas, Kendrick Lamar, jcole, 50, dr dre, nwa, ice cube, etc etc etc. it’s not because of his ethnicity, it’s because of his style that that brought me into the hiphop world
And Em co-signed 50, G Unit, D12, Royce, Obie, Griselda. He influenced K dot, J Cole, Big Sean, Tyler the creator and MANY more. Like, his impact on the culture is massive.
Yeah ngl how many massive artists say Jay z was their influence and inspiration? It's definitely a thing but no where nearrrrrrr ems, Tupac, or he'll maybe even Kanye although I can be corrected on that lol
Signed Slaughterhouse, put on Yelawolf, Westside Boogie, Grip. also influenced Hopsin,
Jay-Z influenced Em himself tho what do u have to say about that?
Dont get me wrong Em's my guy too im just trying to be fair here

what makes it a "fun" fact?
Appreciate the perspective.. was it because he was played on the radio there? Or how did you hear him? Do you remember .?

Jay was and still is a smart business man. He knew any smoke with Em would hurt him greatly. Em came on and ripped shit on Renegade. Great track till this day!!

@@Trudon to an extent. But like many say, his death relaly helped that (unfortuantely). Em really set the bar for a lot of people to get into hip hop. Way more
@@Trudon not remotely, Pac is popular in black culture, Em is popular in human culture worldwide in a way Pac will never be. Pac is only a goat in black culture, Em is the goat worldwide. Em took hip-hop global, period, no one else.
On a domestic American front probably Jay but internationally and reaching a larger audience, Eminem is unmatched. Most people outside of the USA only know Jay as Mr Knowles
Yeah, but Jay is worth a billion with Ms. Knowles and Em&Em is worth 50 mil with a Kim. That’s like comparing a trailer home to a mansion. Why is this even a topic?
Em is worth over 250 million and he chose his family and sobriety over Hollywood and more riches long ago. So even with turning down almost all offers and doing minimal projects he still rakes it in. Plus supports a crap ton of family members he has no legal obligation to. Jay is very successful and I think he is a great businessman and a great artist. However, to become a billionaire takes a TON of work. And maintaining that status is very very hard as well. I’m betting he works about 70-80 hours minimum a week.
I’m not taking away from his success. I admire hard work, I think people just need to be realistic about what a measurement of success and impact means. If your success and impact comes at the price of sacrificing your family, your health, and/or your happiness (let alone mental health)….maybe less is more.
And Em is single. His ex wife lives in the same town in the same gated community I believe, in a house he bought her. He wanted to be close so they could share visitation/custody of their daughters. I believe he has always supported her financially. I don’t know why comparing net worth of a wife is a measurement of success.
Kim stayed home with the kids. I mean Em was a friggen super star, who was touring, had crazy fans, drama, then drug addiction and overdose problems.
He may have said bad things about her as a wife/girlfriend but he has never called Kim a bad mother.
So who really cares about these guys clueless opinions?
I think whoever you listen and/or expose yourself to is going to have an impact on YOU. These guys did not listen or expose themselves to much Eminem so in their own reality it’s not conceivable that Eminem was that impactful, no matter what facts or information anyone says.
And that’s fine, who cares? One day they will be watching old news footage or something and they will come across something about Eminem and it will rock their world…they will be stunned and be like how come no one ever told me, I had no idea it was like that, etc. etc. etc. lol :),
I mean my 74 year old mother knows who Eminem is but she has never heard of Jay-Z.
That’s the impact, hip hop/rap turned mainstream via Eminem. So for people like my mom who only watch mainstream tv she only knows Eminem because he was covered in the news so much when he first came out. She doesn’t listen to rap or hip hop but she knows Eminem’s name and his appearance and knows he was controversial.
As a white man from Utah who has been listening to hip hop since 1992. I had people clowning me for listening to hip hop as a white guy. Then Eminem showed up and all of a sudden my friends are falling in love with hip hop. Before Eminem most rap artist were bragging about getting gold album sales. Then Eminem comes along and P. Duffy start over sampling oldie jams, then rappers start bragging about selling platinum albums. People over seas don’t know who Jay-Z is but in a handful of countries.
Pac was already bragging about being multi platinum long before Eminem came along.
Bro your time line is way jacked up. There were a shit ton of platinum albums before Eminem. The mid 90s made Hip Hop blow up. Everything on Def Jam was going Plat. Master P had a streak of 2 years where no limit dropped a platinum album every week off of No Limit Records. Eminem did not make rappers go platinum.
You are both right. There were artist making platinum albums. I’m just going the fact that after 1998 the increase of hip-hop listeners increased like no other. I’m just siding that in the hip hop “music” Eminem had more influence then Jay-Z. No disrespect to Jay-Z, he helped show people how to make money using their hip hop platform. But “music” wide Eminem impacted more people globally then Jay-Z.
Forgot to mention this but Jay Z was touring the world while Eminem was locked away getting high as fuck. Just Google the "water for life tour". Jay was selling out massive stadiums that started in Poland, Slovakia, Amsterdam, Germany, Istanbul, Athens Greece, England, France, Dublin, Milan, Barcelona, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Japan, Thailand, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and some places I never heard or before ending in Australia.
An as far as hip hop goes he also launched one of the 1st mega tours in the history of Hip Hop. The Hard Knock Tour started the week Eminem's 1st album released. He headlined a tour that included DMX (who was massive at the time), Method Man, Redman, The Lox, DJ Clue, Ja Rule (at the height of his popularity before 50), the rest of his roster and even had hologram Biggie. This was before the Blueprint and before the heights of Jay's career.
I feel like everyone on here commenting have no idea how massive Jay was in the late 90s and early 2000s. I also don't think people realize how much Jay Z cosigming Eminem helped validate Eminem. Em always sold records, The Eminem show went diamond because Jay put him as the only guest appearance on the Blueprint.
@@n8ball02 You really hate Eminem that much to type all that crap to discredit him yeah Jay z was massive but Eminem was and still is too this day so what’s your point? Arguments for Em: 1. He changed and expanded the entire landscape of HipHop
2. What do you call a super fan?
3. He's the biggest influence on today's top HipHop artists
Arguments for Jay: ...
Jay got Kanye, and Kanye inspired all of these crap new age rappers.

Yeah , you're right Stevie, stats shows that anytime Eminem dropped an album, especially in the 2000s there was a significant increase in sales for other rap artists.
You all are trying to use stats to fight the obvious. Jay-Z wasn’t the first to do it, but he did perfect I have a chain and sold cocaine rap. And everyone following him trying to floss and be gangstas are in a way little Jays. Like even Lil Wayne is influenced by Jay. Jay made mainstream Hip Hop off his look to a large degree. Helps being white, helps a lot. Hip hop was getting next to nothing radio play in the UK before Em.
Bruh any 'streets' or 'club' or 'hood' argument against Eminem is just mathematically irrelevant. black people are like 15% of US population and those arguments are automatically attached to black people, therefore even if we ignore the part of those target groups who are still fans of Eminem, theres just not enough people to even subtract anything significant from Eminem's impact, especially when that just US and Eminem is the biggest rapper in the entire world.

This is so true. No one gives Em credit for keeping the artists before him in the spotlight and making mention of them whenever he can.

Eminem all day every day he shaped my childhood and teenage years and he’s one of the only artists I listen to his new stuff. As he says “But in this industry I'm the cause of a lot of envy
So when I'm not put on this list, the shit does not offend me
That's why you see me walk around like nothing's botherin' me
Even though half you people got a fuckin' problem with me
You hate it, but you know respect you got to give me”
Funny you quote that verse. Go back a few bars and listen to the list.
@@n8ball02EM is a very humble man and will gladly mention anyone he believes deserves respect in the game to get them even more clout. That’s why he wears t-shirts from other rappers on stage every time he performs because he hopes that people will see those displayed on his shirt and look them up when they get home. EM is at a point where he doesn’t have to do anything like that, but he does simply for his love and respect of the culture. He wants to share that love and respect introducing people to artists they otherwise wouldn’t have known expanding their fan bases. When EMINEM came out he effectively doubled the fan base of Hip-Hop and kept them hooked. It’s a completely subjective question though and the vast majority of times these questions are brought up is simply an attempt to discredit him and it fails every time.

You are so right they blossomed and made it great!
They see hiphop as black music, that's it
I heard Jay-Z’s “Reasonable Doubt” when I was like 7 or 8 years-old. It was great, but didn’t impact me that much. When I heard The Slim Shady LP at 10 years-old, I literally was certain that I wanted to be an artist. It was like “holy shit, how is he rhyming like this?” Eminem turned me into a SUPER lyricist; and 19 years later, I’m still doing it at a high level.
From personal experience, Eminem was easily more impactful.

The question is who had the greater impact on HIP HOP (not Rap, not just the music). Hip Hop is everything else, political, financial, culturewise and commercial wise that comes along with THIS MUSIC, THIS ARTFORM, THIS WAY OF LIFE. So lets talk HIP HOP, not just Rap.. In fact, lets make a list:
Eminem: God tier lyrical ability, most album sales, Many More white fans, more international fans, Shady Records, D-12, Royce, Yelawolf, Slaughterhouse, Griselda (Arguable), Helped strengthen 50 Cent/G Unit success, various Eminem clones (Hopsin, Logic, NF, Tom McDonald, etc).. This is where it stops with Eminem
Jay-Z: Defacto King of NY Hip hop wise since BIG died, Rocafella Records, Rocawear, Cristal, Fashion Icon/Trends, Memphis Bleek, Foxy Brown (ghostwriter), Beanie Sigel and State Property, Just Blaze, Head of Def Jam, Kanye West, Wale, Rick Ross and Maybach Music, DJ Khaled, Jeezy, Ne-Yo, Rihanna, J. Cole and Dreamville, LiveNation/RocNation, Roc the Vote campaign, Hublot, Audemar Piguet, Ace of Spades, TIDAL, BROOKLYN NETS, Police and Sentencing Reform/ Kalief Browder Act, Advocating Financial Literacy, Hip-Hop partnerhsip brought rap acts to NFL halftime games.
Take a look at that list and tell me its Eminem again.. lmao
Jay-z, as he is right now, is the closest personification to everything hip hop culture has strived to be from its inception and rise in the crack dealing 80s to its emergence as a marketable culture since then.. his lyrical ability skillwise, his relatability, his ability to maintain relevance through scene-stealing features, his catalog, his wins, his losses, his failures, his successes.. every rapper you can think of right now who ever picked up a pen and a pad or listened to a song or grew up in the hood needed rap as an escape from the street conditions and the environment that the govt and police left us in. When you aspire to rap, you invision not only saving yourself but creating your own brand and being overwhelmingly successful while still maintaining your status as one of the nicest in the game lyrically. JAY-Z is THAT promise of hip hop when you do everything right by this culture and everything turns out the absolute best way it ever could. You ask ANY RAPPER FROM ANYWHERE. In this country, where hip hop is a dominant money making culture and not just the musical genre that it is outside of this country, JAY-Z IS A GOD OUT HERE. NO, NOT JUST IN NEW YORK (lol, you tried it). DONT GET IT FUCKED UP. THIS AINT A MATTER OF OPINION. THIS IS A FACT. And it will always be a fact. And because of this, youll never run out of videos to make complaining why almost every media outlet knows this to be a fact, rank him accordingly, and publish it for exactly what it is.
Eminem and his global fanbase of millions, that clearly includes most of yall, exist in this MASSIVELY LUCRATIVE SELF SUBSTANING SUBCULTURE bubble that has continued to perpetually generate millions of dollars in sales and Grammy awards for him. Even though, most of us domestically who still rely on traditional urban hip hop media outlets havent heard more than 5 songs from Eminem in the past DECADE. This is not BAD. This is still impressive. This is still an important achievement. But this is why he can never be number #1 on any list yall keep looking for. Which is what seems to bother yall more than anything else. Its also WEIRD, because Eminem is perfectly aware of this, acknowledges this, and it sure as fuck doesnt bother him AT ALL. He is just grateful to be in the conversation. Why cant that be enough for yall???
Sidenote: Let me address something else I keep seeing in the a lot video comments here from some of yall secondary foreign market rap consumers . if Jay-Z is just Beyonce's husband to you.. that is indicative of YOU. NOT HIM. That makes YOU ignorant by default. You are literally telling on yourself that you need to be ignored. That YOU dont know enough about this culture or enough about rap or hip hop as a whole to even have an opinion on this shit..
The way you broke this down is beautiful. I almost shed a tear. Bravo…. Bravo 👏
I love your comment, jay z & how thoughtful of a debate it is but I disagree because Em also did everything you proclaim to J, as in what hip hop means where it came from where it aspired to be so Em grew up in a majority black hood in extreme poverty too, was also discriminated against by both black & white by - fighting black racists who wouldn’t give Em a chance in hip hop cause of the colour of his skin to whites protesting against him & him fighting the gov - he influenced fashion with ppl bleaching their hair like him. He also owns successful businesses outside of rap too like j and he became the most globally successful hip hop artists to ever do it far exceeding any hope young people from the same abusive & poor hoods or background as him could ever dream to go in getting out of there. He took hip hop to levels world wide j never did inspiring everybody from every nation that they could do it no matter where they come from. I totally understand that because hip hop started in a black American hood you feel that true impact is measured within it but there’s hoods in every country in the world and hiphop impacts all of them now thanks to Em. Plus Ems impacted the hood & every social class from poor to rich in every race that’s a impressive achievement noone could ever aspired to before. So basically now hiphops universal is it fair to only consider black American hoods version of culture by your definition to rank his impact? When it’s universal thanks to Em.
@@jessicarichter6436 That's what exactly what I'm trying to say.. You keep saying that Jay's influence is only in "black American hoods".. Don't disrespect Jay-Z like that.. in the clip Stevie played, Myke C Town was very intentional when he said outside of business.. Because that is Jay's biggest impact on the culture besides rap itself.. You said it yourself that Em also has successful businesses OUTSIDE OF HIP HOP to the same extent of Jay (he definitely doesn't but I won't waste time on that).. A lot of what Jay-Z has done BUSINESS WISE has been for the advancement of hip hop culture on a global scale.. it is deeper than rap, worldwide or not. When Eminem went on tour overseas, how did ppl buy tickets to see him? Who sponsored those concerts in those extremely large football stadiums and arenas? LIVENATION. THANK YOU JAYZ. When ppl stopped buying physical albums and streaming platforms were ripping off artists out of shares WORLDWIDE, where did artists go to get a better share and actual ownership of their own streaming music? TIDAL. THANK YOU JAYZ. What R&B act did Eminem bring you? Skyler Gray? cmon.. Who brought Rihanna to the world? Ne-Yo? Who introduced you to Kanye West?? These are GLOBAL impacts. That touch all these places Worldwide. Stop discrediting Hov. Rap was worldwide before Eminem. Yes he brought more non black ppl worldwide to rap. That is all you guys keep saying. Nobody is disputing that with y'all.. What Jay-Z has done permanently made hip hop more valuable worldwide than it was before, making it easier for ANY ARTIST that comes after him. And solidified hip hop as a billion dollar business. We are talking about progress here. I don't need to argue this. Once again, these are FACTS. @@Christian9TNAT3 oh im confused by your reply as I never said you was hating or that jays impact is only in black American hoods? I wasn’t discrediting jay at all i agree with all your points about him I was merely debating that Em has done everything you had attributed to Jay on a much larger global scale that jay hadn’t so Ems impact is larger.
The only new qualifier you’ve added is Jay having businesses like live nation & tidal which again Em also has his own businesses too & shady records ect but is sponsoring stadiums really having a bigger impact on hiphop then em? Theres plenty of sponsors that I would never credit with influencing the culture so I don’t agree that’s more impactful. That’s still an achievement of course before you say I’m discrediting him again.
Your the most intelligent one who does these and definitely the most impactful person who does these. Real talk
In USA it might be Jay-Z, but world wide it is EM no doubt.
Just check the album sales of 50 or G-Unit outside USA (You don't have to check the volume of EM).

Wtt i was not yet subbed, my bad Stevie. Corrected that. This channel is 🔥🔥
You need to be on one of these debates Stevie backing bro up with all the facts
I've only ever heard one song from Jay-Z that I liked, all the others have sounded bad to me so far
I'm in Ireland and Em brought me into hip hop...u 10000% correct 👌🏻 I'm listening to them all now since the 90's cos of Em. Them boys keep contradicting each others own opinion??
I'm from belfast bro and I agree with ya on that one. When em's first 2 albums blew there was a point that he was all anyone talked about/listened to. And then when get rich or die trying came out em and dre basically helped 50 take over the world. In my opinion him and 50 took hip hop to a whole new plateau in the early/mid 2000's.
Same as me and I'm in England however I don't co sign that em had more impact. People are confusing popularity with impact.
No one wanted to rap like em with his subject matter over jay z.
@johnpaulduffy7264 ah my youth floods back. I still have Em in my ears endless playlists still to this day. The beauty about growing up and been born in that era is one that kids of today will never get. As for 50 can't wait for November for him to rock that 3 arena 🙌
I have Em in my ears playing still to this day and alot of his lyrics are extremely impactful, I'm not talking about his Slim Slady but Em himself. Ur right is not about popularity it is about impact and Jay Z didn't have any impact on me or my life. Marshall Mathers had a huge impact on me personally. Be very boring world if we all thought the same. But the opinions these guys are giving is ridiculous! They just don't want to admit that the facts.
@johnpaulduffy7264 funny thing is this albums are still been played around the world and to be honest I haven't downloaded one Jay Z song yet. Would listen to him but it ends there.
Great video..I’m 51 & white..I got into hip hop in the 80s with fat boys, run Dmc & beastie..remember seeing breakin & going to the skating rink to break dance on the small corner dance floor but mostly cardboard lol.. I feel it’s an evolution that all are needed..when gangster rap came out I kinda drifted..I just couldn’t relate tbh..I grew up mostly poor but not watching people get shot daily or the struggles those young men go through..my dad was a hermit I guess so living in a tent in the woods was more common.. when nwa came out I was bout 24 & had a lot of white friends getting into hip hop but I’d been playing guitar for about 6 years & started writing rock/metal songs but drew inspiration from blues which started as a black culture..which changed the direction of modern music.. rock, soul, r&b, gospel, country & it evolved from there from blues ,it was real, tragic but also fun..everyone loves music (I think) so just appreciate where it came from.. but I think em did open up a lot of the masses to hip hop as jay did with being an artist and business man..they both became huge influences to artists so how far do you go back? Blues? R&b? Rock? All have their stamp on modern hip hop..but personally I go with em for over all impact with jay.. but so many paved the way..just my opinion
“What do you call a super fan of any artist”??? You call them a STAN 😆😆😆
I've been listening to rap for 20 years and as good as Jay Z is I could have gone the whole time never listening to him, if you've never heard Eminem you're literally going to die without hearing some of the most amazing works of art ever put together
bigger impact on rap Em... bigger impact on the hood Jay...
This right here. And "hood" only in the USA again.
There are hoods all over the world
Good content!
Lil Wayne said he was most influenced by missy Elliott
The fact that theyre even compared together shows how much both of these men contributed to hip hop... em was instrumental in bringing all eyes to culture. But jays influence runs soo deep in hip hop as well. Man gave them the blueprint on how to succeed at the game and life lol. Many prolific artist today still mention/jokes about "the book of hov" using him as an inspiration for black greatness. So thats kind of a huge impact.
I got an order, heres the order of my list that its in...
These kinds of questions are suppose to b us to acknowledged their accomplishments but fans gets too hung up on whose dick is bigger..
Stevie you just gave everyone a drop the mic moment and that is why I love you so much. No matter the color you chose to speak truths. I don’t always agree with you on something’s but you tend to open my eyes to a different way of thinking. Just keep be real son. A loyal fan of yours. By the way I never even heard of jayz until Eminem and jay done renegade. And one more thing Eminem had a bigger impact on the lyrical world to , it made them want to be better. Jmo
both legends, both inspired kendrick, worked with dre, kanye, game, em gave us 50, jay gave us ye, both worked with wayne. Both just goated bro. I'm an em fan though.
Love your analysis! You bring facts and deep knowledge. Not fluff. Thank you!!!
You're the best Stevie
Is it possible that they both made major impacts in hip hop in different ways?
700k Stevie💪
Eminem does a role call for old school artists on every album, introducing millions of young kids to hip hop artists they would’ve never heard of otherwise. Em got the youngsters digging in the crates!
too me i really think Jay Z might be the most Overrated rapper EVER ,
Jay z is crazy over-rated imo i just dont get it
Perfect 700k reaction 🎉
That stan comment was definitely a mic drop...damn!
Em is king, and of story
Jayz brought a blend to rap. Eminem brought a blend of other cultures to rap. Will the real global army of rap lovers please stand up?
If I had to choose between two people who wrapped others in their billboard clothing, it would be Eminem. He truly did take rap to other cultures in the US and possibly globally. We do know, Bruce sparked a flame that went 💯🔥
Did he tho? I mean Pac did it before em🤷♂️🤷♂️
@neverwintersbard751 took the dude dying for that impact to really happen though. It wasn't directly what he said or did as much as how much his death just further solidified what he said. No disrespect at all to him, but to have the impact em did without passing alone makes him more impactful
U mean white people please stand up
@@neverwintersbard751 no, Pac was popular among black culture; Em brought Hip-Hop to the whole world.
do you think the debate would more legit if it was 50cent vs Jay Z
Im telling u Stevie u need to be thrown in that convos and shut them all up.
As an “older Millenial” white Houstonian, I can agree with your perspective, absolutely, we did not feel “allowed”, it wasn’t ours. Wayne tho :)
Edit to say: I’m the white suburban mom w DMX in the carpool line, more likely some Texan rappers, or SPM, but, you get it. Love me some fkn DMX.
Eminem ! .. on (Hip Hop & Rap Art) audience from - every - continent !
They in lala land.
Thought I saw a interview with Ice-T saying he wanted to sign M, but found out he was too late. Hope I remembered that correcly.
There is a reason homie is the only one on stage wearing a cap lol
My mom, a white woman, introduced me to Hip/Hop with Tupac when I was like 7 years old. However, I didn't really dive into it outside of Tupac and NWA until Eminem came out. I started to then find a bunch of rap and became a huge fan. I barely listen to it now because the new stuff sucks and Yelawolf stopped rapping, but if it weren't for Em I wouldn't have went on that journey. Jay Z isn't that good, IMO, but I do like some of his stuff.

I haven't heard of half the people you mentioned for Eminem. They probably didn't even go gold.
What are you even saying..
Where is bobby creek? Where is cashis? Where is obie? Where is stat quo. They are nowhere to be seen. Can even sell a record to save there life. The artist you mention for jay-z are maybe 10% of who he signed and still doing number. The mans owns roc-a-fella, roc nation and has been ceo of def jam. Calling jay elec a flop? You are blinded by em fandom. Keep it real dude.
Also crooked i was in the game LONG before he met em. Yela left shady, slaughterhouse fell apart under his guidance, D12 isn't even close to doing decent numbers.
Also jay z his best selling record is vol.2 hard knock life. Not the blueprint
Also saying slaughterhouse was filled with people who were "nothing before em" exposes your complete ignorance.
And fifty was already very well know before em/dre signed him and had multiple record deals on the table before he got shot.
Your statement is so woefully wrong and inaccurate its laughable.. Go back and actually do your research correctly instead of copying and pasting from Wikipedia.. Here I'll give you some help.. Jay-Z's biggest album commercially was Hard Knock Life Vol 2.. followed by The Black Album.. then Watch the Throne with Kanye.. His consensus best album is his first, Reasonable Doubt. Start there. Renegade is ONE song. Jay-Z has soooo many other memorable BETTER songs.. GET OVER IT. Where are Rick Ross, Ne-Yo, DJ Khaled and Young Jeezy on your list?? Bobby Creekwater, Obie Trice, Cashis successful???!! lol, Not at all. Slaughterhouse was a failure. D12 was an eventual failure (RIP Proof).
@@Christian9TNAT3 "Biggest album commercially" congratulations you already proved your point incorrect. Also that album sold 6.2M copies in 3 countries. No song on that album had a equal or greater impact on the CULTURE than Renegades. The closest to it was "If I Should Die". But hold on wait a minute...what song does everyone in the CULTURE reference Jay-Z on.....oh wait Renegades...it's almost like it's because it's his biggest Cultural impact song....STUPID. Learn the difference between Numbers and Cultural Impact. Also if you wanna use numbers as a retarded way to determine CULTURAL IMPACT. Jay-Z Sold 45,090,227 Albums total. Eminem Sold 32,000,000 with his MMLP album and 20,896,750 with his The Eminem Show Album. That's already 52,896,760 Albums vs 45,090,227 Albums With only 2/15 Albums verses 20/20 albums. So maybe don't be a dumb ass trying to use numbers because in that case. You shouldn't open your mouth about Jay-Z at all in the conversation of CULTURAL IMPACT. If numbers is what you believe shows it, stupid. Bobby Creekwater makes 2M a year from his albums after retirement with 2 that went gold. Obie Trice made 1 Album going gold with 640kl sells Second Round On Me sold 240k Albums. Special Reserve sold 540k albums went Gold.(there's more but fuck it, next). Cashis went Platinum in 2006, his first released Ep went top 100 on the billboards top 100 in the first week and top 20 on top rap albums, his 2nd album The County Hound 2 went Gold, his 4th album The County Hound 3 went gold, and his 7th album was almost gold. Congratulations...you officially know nothing. As for your question about Def Jam....that shit is owned by Universal not Jay-Z. Jay-z also didn't introduce Rick Ross just like he didn't introduce Big Sean or Justin Bieber who also signed to Def Jam. As for Ne-Yo he was huge before Def Jam and stayed Huge. You right though Jay-Z did actually sign this one, after he was already huge and famous much like Rihanna, Kanye West, and J. Cole. Next is Young Jeezy right, I'm pretty sure he was first put on by Lil Jon. Then joined boys n da hood hitting top 5 billboards. If I'm not mistaken the way he got on Def Jam was his demo was introduced to Shakir Stewart who then showed it to LA Reid the VP of Def Jam who then told Shakir he had the green light to sign him....sooooo No Jay-Z didn't bring in Jeezy. What was last DJ Khalid? Prior to signing with Def Jam after he had 4 #1 billboard albums and 6 top 10's and he didn't sign to def jam til 2023 also it was Lucian Grainge who signed DJ Khalid to Def jam and also Lil Wayne is the one who put DJ Khalid on the map in the first place, not Jay-Z. So congratulations...ur an idiot.
@@Python-xs2iv 🤷♂Oh well man at least you're willing to admit you don't know things instead of pretending. Only one who didn't go gold at least once was I think was Stat Quo. His albums all sold between 150k-400k albums. Which by all metrics is pretty successful for someone going from a street rapper to a produced rapper.

If Jay and Em came out at the same time... Then this would be debatable. Majority of us (black folk) wanna just say Jay because he was the hood favorite... Hip Hop isn't just "hood" anymore... We say we (black ppl) can't be racist but, when it comes to this topic, this shows how racist black ppl/ ni**as are and can be. 2 of my favorite artists! Like you said, these are opinions..
I've listened to Jay since the Streets is Watching and Em since Rawkus..
I flip flop between 1 and 2 with them (Lately it's been Em #1).
Jay gives listeners knowledge and tries to show other rappers the ropes, Em is more technical and has a real raw flow.
That being said, it's a draw for me 💯
Eminem definitely the biggest impact.. most hip hop listeners today either started listening to hip hop through Eminem first or were shown another artist by someone who had heard Eminem first.. a lot of Eminem haters were introduced to hip hop by Eminem and because Eminem gives so much homage they found a rapper they like better through his lyrics..
And you have absolutely no proof of this theory
