David certainly has a rather unique voice, it can easily be recognized and his vocals are really hard to reproduce because hes just one of THESE singers however saying his voice is otherworldly is exaggeration, Chester Bennington had an otherworldly voice and so did Freddie Mercury but David just doesnt have you ever heard how many octaves and how many vocal chords people like Chester and Freddie had? it was truly ridiculous Chester literally had 2 different vocal chords in his voice and he could easily either hit a very strong octave or one of the softest octaves i have ever heard in music and he could do that at will instantly and i dont think i need to explain Freddie's unreal chord if you really require a sample as an example, listen to One Step Closer, Runaway or Forgotten by Linkin Park
I've probably watched 10-15 reactions to this version by disturb. I never get tired of the reaction. The surprise on the faces the awe. Every reaction, that I've watched, goes the same way. When video is over....a loss for words...I LOVE IT!
Jamal, I'm 62 yrs. old and had never in my life been to a concert. My husband's company had 4 tickets to see Disturbed in concert a few years back. I was thrilled to go and see Dave Draiman perform this song. I had to sit through lots of heavy metal (with my earplugs in) to finally see him do this song. On a hot and humid night in August with fire pyrotechnics all around him, Dave gave the best rendition of this awesome song. I was covered in goosebumps the whole time. I loved seeing your reaction to this! Truly a work of music artistry at it's finest!!!

You need to listen to "The Light" by Disturbed! It is an awesome song about never giving up on yourself. As a person who has experienced life altering injuries...part of me rose up on the inside and gave me the strength to not give up. I am 62 years old and being disabled has never been easy...but I have refused to give up...no matter what!
I have always loved Simon & Garfunkel;; I grew up with them. But, Disturbed blows this song away!! It was fun to watch your reaction as I had the same one the first time I stumbled across this song. I was awestruck!
I started playing "The Sound of Silence" in 1976 or 1977. I was scouring my dad's album collection for something new to listen to and I came across A Simon and Garfunkel album "The Sounds of Silence". Paul Simon had a pretty big hit around that time called "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" which I liked, so I thought I would give the album a listen. I was immediately dumbstruck by "The Sound of Silence". All I remember is that I kept playing the song over and over on a continuous loop. In those days vinyl albums were the primary media form for music. I probably ruined the needle on the turntable by my continuous restarting of the song. The song spoke to me, although at that tender age I had only a minor understanding of the significant lyrics of the song. This song was written the year of my birth so it has always had a special place in my heart. Now more than ever the relevance, cultural significance and importance of this song cannot be overstated. I finally heard "Disturbed 's" version through you "J aka J" and it was powerful. Thanks for another ride down memory lane.

This was a big hit for Simon and Garfunkel in1964. After seeing this performance Paul Simon E-Mailed the Disturbed singer his approval. You've heard 2 covers now; why not check out the original. ( I seem to have exceeded the limit for sending people links without Y.T. considering them spam for some reason so I won't)
Paul Simon said that when someone told him about this cover he was doubtful, so he went and listened to it. By the end of the song, he said it had affected him so profoundly that he found himself in tears. That's the biggest compliment any musician can get when they pay tribute to another musician's work.

This song, and the way David Draiman sings it, seems to perfectly capture the current pain and despair that many Americans are feeling right now as the silence from policy makers is deafening .
This cover can not be matched!! Disturbed shakes your soul on this one!! perfection!!
This is the greatest cover of a song I've ever heard. They honor the original melody but make it their own.

Very clever. Like this guy.
Only issue is he can't monetize like that. =(
David Draiman has otherworldly vocal range. Just incredible.
Agreed but i think i am more impressed with the control he has of his voice its insane
He has a very wide range but he cannot beat Freddie's Mercury's range. Freddie had 8 octaves.
Hes got good range, but otherworldy? Cmon its an exageration.
David certainly has a rather unique voice, it can easily be recognized and his vocals are really hard to reproduce because hes just one of THESE singers
however saying his voice is otherworldly is exaggeration, Chester Bennington had an otherworldly voice and so did Freddie Mercury but David just doesnt
have you ever heard how many octaves and how many vocal chords people like Chester and Freddie had? it was truly ridiculous
Chester literally had 2 different vocal chords in his voice and he could easily either hit a very strong octave or one of the softest octaves i have ever heard in music and he could do that at will instantly and i dont think i need to explain Freddie's unreal chord
if you really require a sample as an example, listen to One Step Closer, Runaway or Forgotten by Linkin Park

I've been with you for awhile and can't remember any other reaction of yours where you didn't stop in the middle of the song ! Love their version of this song ! Especially this specific live performance !! Definetley my favorite !!!
His story is so inspiring. He literally went from helping his father run a nursing home. To working his butt off to get his band off the ground...TO THIS!
And he has not one but like 3 or 4 college degrees 😳
So much love for this....amazing....the love for the song overlaps with the love of performing it.
Your reaction was so real and you can tell you let the music speak to your soul... Thank you for this
Thanks I could feel the passion🙏🏾
@@jamelakajamal I've watched quite a few reaction videos from several others and I can say without a doubt, I enjoy yours the most, because they're real, honest reactions. Thank you!
I’m ecstatic that we still have bands/singers who can perform live with orchestras, it makes their talents stand above the rest
AWESOME! I am glad you listened all the way through without pausing! Ohhh I hate when people pause throughout a song,, ruins the true reaction and the flow of the song! But I was really diggin the cloud bubbles you have in your video! I liked your video and reaction! Thank you!!
After listening to tons of reviews I've lost track of how many 'WOWS' there've been. Loss for words. thank you
Music is always about the journey. There is so much music to love and listen to.
Yes indeed🙏🏾
awesome brother! brought this 70 year old man to tears! thank you for this video!!!! thank you!!
Yay! This is one of my favorite songs from Disturbed! Thanks for the react video! As for more Disturbed...
Music Videos by Disturbed:
The Vengeful One (one of my favorite songs)
A Reason to Fight (emotional distress)
Are You Ready (classic Disturbed; first single from their Evolution album that came out last year)
Thanks hopefully no copyright issues 🙏🏾
His vocal talents are on another level. Coming out of the vocal fry to a soft ending is beautiful
Love your reaction. He won an Emmy for that performance
It's nice to be old enough to have heard all these songs in their original form and appreciate that young people are enjoying them today. Good songs never get old.
I love this version, to me it feels more emotionally charged than the studio release.
This version of the song absolutely blew me away!
Hauntingly Beautiful
Have a listen (and react) to "The Light" by Disturbed. And maybe "A Reason to Fight" - the live extended version. Be warned, though. Have your tissues ready. It's quite emotional!
Hold on to the memories is alos a real good one heard it after I had just lost a good friend could not stop crying
I noticed you didn't pause the video, the disturbed video is that good! I'm so happy that you are doing this channel. It makes me happy to see good music be appreciated for what it is.
Thank you So Much for NOT interrupting the music to comment, the captions were great, Your reaction was right-on, again, Thank You for sharing it for the rest of us! ReactOn from ChiTown...
Thanks Will🙏🏾
I bet His grandfather is so proud of him .....he was a cantor singer and David was classically trained and was going to be a cantor as well .... thankfully we were rewarded with his glorious voice and Disturbed 💕💕😊
This song, and the way David Draiman sings it, seems to perfectly capture the current pain and despair that many Americans are feeling right now as the silence from policy makers is deafening .
Glad to be on this music journey with you Jamal...please react to Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel...jawdropping!
Jennifer Russ he should also react to sohyang’s version
