I have literally watched at least 100 reaction videos to this song just waiting............for someone to FINALLY mention that the emotions on his face strike the soul as well as his voice. You nailed it. You rightly pointed out that we are brought into the song with this video. You are very astute; much respect to you.
If you're referring to the face he makes as to resemble rage, that wasn't to interpret emotion. He makes that face to allow him to add a sense of extra rasp to his voice so he doesn't damage his voice.
I feel the same way. I also feel This song and his voice was for this Time, with this virus. We Cannot stay Silent We must Fight For Our Freedom. Yes it touched My Soul to. Did you notice in the video that Disturbed is bringing the instruments to the people who wrote music but have no voice … ship at the end brings them together. It’s beautiful imagery.
Oh, I agree! The visual aspect of this music video is a very important part of it, because with it they're adding another layer to the song. And they're also implying that it isn't too late, that there's still hope.
@@narcissistectomy5134 It's easy to do! This guy has an AMAZING voice! But yeah, sometime watch it and really look for the visual story they're telling along with the lyrics. Congratulations, you have just witnessed one of the best vocalists to ever perform in history, David Draiman has a voice and range that any other vocalist would kill for. Disturbed as a band is also incredibly talented and the reason why they chose to cover songs like Land Of Confusion and Sound of Silence is they believe music is a weapon. They believe people can be reached through music to be used as a weapon to change the world for the better. I have been a fan of Disturbed since 2000 when I first heard their song "Down With The Sickness", some of their albums have been better than others, and some of their songs will be timeless classics including this cover. I firmly believe Disturbed belongs in the R&R Hall Of Fame, or at the VERY least David Draiman himself.

Goosebumps! He sustains notes with such discipline and intensity. It is so refreshing to hear vocalists respect a note rather than what I see is a unfortunate in too many vocalists these days who flutter through a variety of notes.
It's not just his dedication to his music that he makes those intricate faces it's how he forms his mouth in order to get the right notes out when he's singing that's why he's a master at what he does!!! Beautiful just pure Beautiful Noise music or whatever you want to call it!!!!

Going to see your reaction to Johnny Cash and his version of "Hurt" now (absolutely amazing cover!) Someone else mentioned Shinedown's cover of "Simple Man", if you haven't listened to it I'm seconding this recommendation. Brent Smith's voice is really something. It was that song that got me hooked on Shinedown more than 15 years ago. .45 is also great. Their videos in general "get you in the song" like you said, too!
There is NO ONE like David Draiman. There is no words to how amazing he is. I love every song I have ever heard from Disturbed. Loved your reaction, too.
Yes! The Genesis version is my husband's favorite because hes a big Phil Collins fan and my favorite is Disturbeds because they are one of my favorite bands.
This music video won my Mom over to Disturbed. She LOVES S&G! Before I showed her this video, I showed her Down With The Sickness and tried to explain about the band in general, THEN showed her this. She had goosebumps just like I did! It was a privilege for me to be the one to show her this. Jamel, there is a cover of this cover. Can you imagine what a semi-retired Baritone Opera Singer would do with this song? David would be proud of Henk Port's rendition as Henk sang it to Floor Jansen. Have fun!
I have noticed, every reaction I have seen, the reactor always is in silence afterwards, so appropriate!! And I the beginning, they don't catch the actual 'sound of silence' great stuffs. Much love&respect sir!
‘Neath the halo of a street lamp, I turn my collar to the cold and damp”, I mean, come on. Who writes like that anymore. I love that mine. Paul Simon was a wordsmith. He was so so deep.
Gives you chills, doesn’t it? Man got a voice on him. I’m impressed by the orchestration in the background. Subtle, but powerful. Nice arrangement to back a great cover. This is an instant classic. Paul and Artie would love it!
He said in interviews that he had smoked some cannabis and had extra time in the studio and the producer suggested singing the song, and it was recorded in hours... wow.
Cannabis seems to help my guitar playing at times, and B-Real's rapping, so I'm not surprised that it helps out David's singing here, although I'm sure he must've had plenty of water. Hard to sing like this with dry mouth.
This is probably the most perfect musical piece and video produced. The voice, the passion, the lyrics, the message, the visuals and the utterly brilliant musical arrangement ... Always loved the original but this is just WOW. Disturbed own this now. I thank them for this musical and cinematic masterpiece.
Jamal I noticed that you massaging your throat signaling when David Draiman seems screaming at the end of the song...David is trained vocalist who knows vocal techniques without damaging his vocal chords.
Every time I see this video I get goosebumps. The intensity of his expression along with that growl in his voice moves me to tears and I just get chills all over. So glad you did this reaction! Thank you so much.

This is fabulous. In addition to everything else said about this performance, I want to add that it's so satisfying to hear a man daring to sing like a man, with passion, depth, strength and softness when it is right. This is real.
This is the reason people get chills, listening to music like this, emoted like this. Whether you think about it or not, people can tell when a person is feeling the song/music and lyrics and all.
This is on point, I can't express how much I think you'll enjoy reacting to these as they all have really deep lyrical meaning to them and that seems to be right up your alley.
Thank you for paying such close, rapt attention to this beautiful, powerful interpretation of Simon and Garfunkel's song....also, thanks for the awesome, pristine audio!!!

Someone else mentioned Shinedown's cover of "Simple Man", if you haven't listened to it I'm seconding this recommendation. Brent Smith's voice is really something. It was that song that got me hooked on Shinedown more than 15 years ago. .45 is also great. Their videos in general "get you in the song" like you said, too!
His voice! Amazing! Have watch that video so many times. Beautiful each time. ❤❤❤
No lie, I always get tears in my eyes when I hear this version of this song. I can't help it. So much emotion put into the song.
When music can move you so much and go into your soul and then echo in your bones, you know it's something so special.
Paul Simon said this was the best cover he ever has heard, he actually likes it better than his own version because of the power in it.
is Paul Simon a devil worshipper too? Yes, he is a Freemason, who (thru their secret society) promote the devil, demonrats...
There is NO ONE like David Draiman. There is no words to how amazing he is. I love every song I have ever heard from Disturbed. Loved your reaction, too.
Please listen to "Land of Confusion" by Genesis, and then Disturbed covering it. Both are great, and I think you'll laugh at the Genesis video.
I just commented the same thing! lol
This is a terrific idea.
YES!! I LOVE that song!
Yes! The Genesis version is my husband's favorite because hes a big Phil Collins fan and my favorite is Disturbeds because they are one of my favorite bands.
Listen to Land of Confusion by Katznmenjammer.
Have fun!
David Draiman's voice is the definition of Rock God!
Gob smacked!!!! Breathtaking! Sings to your soul. Such a powerful vcice!👍❤🙋🏻♀️
Love it, watching them do this live is untouchable.
This beautiful version makes you feel exhausted with emotion when it's over. Historic , perfect and can not be duplicated.
Thanks for posting this. I had not heard this version before, and it gave me goosebumps.
Watch the live version. I believe it was on the Conan O'Brien show. It's on RUclips.
Chills. EVERY TIME. This is an amazing cover!
As much as I love the gentle harmonies of the original, I can't get enough of this visceral, barely-contained version.
@Derek Charette Triggered much? Calm down dude. Believe it or not, not everyone is aware of that, I've just noticed it helps me a bit is all.
@Derek Charette ok boomer
This is probably the most perfect musical piece and video produced. The voice, the passion, the lyrics, the message, the visuals and the utterly brilliant musical arrangement ... Always loved the original but this is just WOW. Disturbed own this now. I thank them for this musical and cinematic masterpiece.
Jamal
I noticed that you massaging your throat signaling when David Draiman seems screaming at the end of the song...David is trained vocalist who knows vocal techniques without damaging his vocal chords.
I’ve watched this bring men to tears it’s so moving. Thank you Jamel
David Draiman' s voice = Smooth as BUTTUH
You called the goosebumps my man. Every time I hear him sing this song I definitely feel it in my soul . 👍🏻
He did a great job on this, very powerful. I would luvd 2 hav heard Cornell do a version of this!
Every time I see this video I get goosebumps. The intensity of his expression along with that growl in his voice moves me to tears and I just get chills all over. So glad you did this reaction! Thank you so much.
This band does a cover on every album. And not one of them disappoint.
You almost don't want to breath or you'll miss it...I saw this live. Very emotional, and a perfect cover performance.
You are hands down, he most objective and thoughtful reaction specialist on RUclips. You convey and articulate what many of us fail to find the words to express. Best subscribe I've ever done.
This is such a stunning rendition, I still get chills and goosebumps even 4 years on.

it's mindblowing
I second this!!!!
100 likes for this.
For sure, that is really good.
Jordan, Live from the Culture Room. I love watching him work that kill switch
This is fabulous. In addition to everything else said about this performance, I want to add that it's so satisfying to hear a man daring to sing like a man, with passion, depth, strength and softness when it is right. This is real.
I have watched this many many times, and every time, it still destroys me....
This is one of several of your reactions that I keep coming back to. This song is mesmerizing,.
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the reason people get chills, listening to music like this, emoted like this. Whether you think about it or not, people can tell when a person is feeling the song/music and lyrics and all.
I gave you a like before to watch the video because i know was going to be awesome and I was not wrong 👏👏
Jamel, the reason you're my #1 reaction video channel are 3 things: 1. Good audio, 2. Good acoustics, 3. GREAT heart-felt analysis!! Love it!!!
React to Smile Empty Soul:
- "Bottom of a Bottle"
- "Silhouettes"
- "This is War"
- "Nowhere Kids"
This is on point, I can't express how much I think you'll enjoy reacting to these as they all have really deep lyrical meaning to them and that seems to be right up your alley.
Yes!!!
Thank you for paying such close, rapt attention to this beautiful, powerful interpretation of Simon and Garfunkel's song....also, thanks for the awesome, pristine audio!!!

Filter- hey man, nice shot.
My favorite version of this song! I get goosebumps all over every time I hear it. And I’m not a metal fan but damn this guy’s voice is so haunting ✌🏻❤️
Yo, seriously react to "Stupify - Disturbed" I don't understand why all reactors bypass this one.
Spot on dude
