dispatch not getting closure sounds positively awful for the mental health, being on the other side of the 911 call is a demanding, possibly soul crushing job, and this is something the entire emergency service system could do to help.
Oh man, I have one that broke my heart. Not a cop, this was a 15 year old neighbour who had broken into my house. First time he stole a shitty laptop, second time he didn't take anything he just left the door open, third time I just so happened to be up at 2am when he broke in and I was making a cup of tea in the kitchen when he came in through the back door in the next room. We made awkward eye contact and I was like 👀*holds up kettle* "tea?" Keep in mind this kid lived literally 4 or 5 doors down from me on a cramped council estate, he 100% knew who I was, knew I knew who he was, etc. so once we locked eyes there was no point him running off, lol. Anyways we ended up chatting and I asked why he kept breaking into my house. This was 3 times in 2 years and he must have made a grand total of £20 off of me, was it really worth it? Well, it turns out his mum had a history of drug use and when he was really little, she was terribly abusive. His dad didn't want him and even though his mum had cleaned up and was trying again with a different man and a couple of new kids under 5, he didn't get along with her. He claimed she saw him as part of her fuck ups, like her drug addiction, and she wanted to get rid of him like she wanted to get rid of all the other bad shit she did back then. He was breaking into houses because it was the "the best way" to get time in juvie (the didn't do it for anything pettier, that he knew of). "I should probably just kill someone so they'll lock me up for life, but I don't want to hurt anybody," he told me. Didn't occur to me until like 5 years later I probably should have been scared at that point lol but damn that was sad. Poor kid :-/ IDK what happened to him in the end but I know he moved away when he was 17.
I hope the foster parent reported that god awful case manager. She was obviously suffering some serious burn out but to lose that much empathy is not acceptable. Ask your rich mommy for help? Is that really what you are going to say to a foster parent that has proven they actually care about these kids, unlike the ones who do it for the government check? (fuck those people btw) and gods that poor kid will never know how hard OP tried to reach him. Bad for his mental health? So worse than having yet another adult break their promise?
i think he just skipped a word "you are not considered an adult until you're 18" It's just a script typo and could have easily been found out through context clues.
Yup Darkdest is right, I just read the typo and it slipped past me. It doesn't reflect in the videos but SO MANY of these reddit posts are full of terrible grammar 😂
