Parent here. I was at my wits end with my son not doing homework. I had spent months being patient, had talked to him, yelled at him, tried bribing, etc. One day I was just completely through with everything. So I grabbed a giant jar of glitter (about 8 oz) and took it to his room. This is before glitter bombs were a thing. I said, " Do your homework right now and let me check it when your done, or I open this..."
He's like, "Mom you know I hate glitter."
Me: "I know, that is why I'm here....."
Son: "You can't it will go everywhere, glitter is forever"
Me: "I know and every time you try to get rid of it, you will think of this lesson"
    Son: "You wouldn't? Not really?!"
    Me: "Try me"
    Son: "Okay I'll do it"
About an hour later he comes back with his homework. I never had to let loose the glitter. I won. lol. I think I tapped the jar for a few days after just to make sure he would keep doing the homework daily. We still laugh about it occasionally. I'm not sure if I would have followed through or not. lol.

My mother when my sister and I were 9 and 10. We used to throw our dirty clothes behind our open bedroom door. One day while we were in school, she threw them out our upstairs bedroom window into the branhes of a large tree in the backyard. It was winter, no leaves on the tree so the whole neighborhood could see
our underwear and other dirty clothes up in the tree branches. Humiliatingly embarrasment.

I get that reaction a lot when I say I dont like donuts. It's one of those things where you throw it up and it never tastes the same again. And yes, I have to say that every time to get people off my back over it.

After Covid, the first year back to school I was sitting outside during the break writing comics, I was more the quiet artsy kid than anything else, everyone played sports but I sucked at all of them even after months of practice. My sister told my parents I was sitting by myself at recess (this was when I was in elementary) and they started yelling and putting my stuff in their closet to force me to do the one thing I hated. I still suck at sports, have even less friends because of it and it has ruined my interest in making comics. Thanks mom.

For most of my life (like, until my mid 20s,) I freaking HATED doughnuts. The smell, the taste, the texture, everything about them. Couldn't even go into the local bakery for too long due to the scent of them. I eventually did develop a taste for them as an adult, but as a kid it was the greasy, savory-ish fried dough mixed with the sweetness that just totally put me off. Just couldn't handle that flavor combo. Doughnut-haters represent!!

My mother once decided to fix my writing.
For around two weeks i was forced to rewrite all homework if i did one mistake in any words or numbers. She was checking for typos and corrections and any of those was leading to rewriting.
I went through almost 50 notebooks and spent all my evenings doing homework until she gave up.

Once I got in trouble for what I can't remember but instead of being sent to my room, I was sent outside. At the time, I was an avid reader so grounding me consisted of taking away my books or sending me outside. Yes, I did try to go back inside

So, I'm going to share a story.
I was in a deep depression and I hit a vary bad rough patch, so I cut for the first. My mum found out and started to yell at me. She was concerned about me and told my dad. He started to scream and shout at me so hard that spital was hitting my face. After that he "took away my birthday," basically, I got no cake or presents, not even a card or happy birthday no celebration or anything. It was very upsetting for a 12 year old and didn't help, instead I hurt myself in other ways and hide it. And ultimately back to cutting. If your child comes to you with something delicate, please don't punish them it will only make it worse.

I have no idea what I did to deserve this but, when I was around 8 years old there was a time I wasn't allowed to watch any cartoons or play on my ps1. All I could do was watch educational TV such as animal planet, national geographic or discovery channel. This lasted for about a year and I ended up really enjoying the shows on those channels, and to this day I think that year was the difference between me being a full videogame addict and (as I ended up) me being a guy who is really into academic stuff and also enjoys videogames a lot.

My mom's punishment was to give me more chores. But the catch was that my chores would never end anyway. She would say: " you can go play after you have done all your chores", but as I would complete one, she'd just give me another.
Every day. Adding to infinity of sysyphean chores was a weird non-punishment.
I only ever played when mom was away.

My parents once took everything out of my room. My bed, my cabinets and wardrobes, my toys. Then shut me in there for a bit. The only thing I had was the decorations on the wall and a tiny notebook (with no pencil because I was young and dumb) I hid in my pocket when they took everything out. This is the only time they did it, and I don’t even think they remember. It is still the strangest thing they have ever done.

Narrator here, there's a few Doughnut dislikers in the comments! This phenomenon has seemingly alluded me all my life. I'm curious, you say you can't eat bread without flavor, so what about the more "creative" doughnuts with stuff on or inside of them? Same stance?

@@ABadPassword Haven’t really tried them, but I’m assuming I would have a similar reaction. The only donut I’ve come to entirely tolerate is from Krispy Kreme and is more cake than doughnut. It’s chocolate. I haven’t the slightest clue what it’s called.
