- These new mechanical keyboard switches from Kinetic Labs are super interesting. The Gecko Silent Linear switches are among other animal themed switches like the Hippo, Penguin, Husky, and Salmon mechanical keyboard switches. Considering the theming of these switches I felt obligated, no, as if it was my responsibilty, to review these switches. And boy, they are pretty nice overall. Will probably slap these into my next keyboard build.

Added these to my list to get for my office keyboard build! Just the right amount of being audible but right amount of silent to them.
The switch is actually on the lighter side. The average switch is around 63-65 grams, with these being like 54 they are a bit lighter than the norm.
True, for most gamers though they like them springs real light, like 40-50ish. I hate light switches like that though, not fun for typing. 57.5 is a pretty happy medium for me though I’ve used 72g switches and really liked those. Feels more substantial I guess. What is your preferred spring weight?
He said actuation force, not bottom out force
I have these in two keyboards. They are very smooth and feel great typing on.
I enjoyed them quite a bit. What keyboards you put them in?

is there any scratch sound at all without lubing?
Added to my Christmas list. Thanks!
Haha no problem!
your videos are nice and good quality! although idk if its your microphone gain or the switch, it just doesnt sound as silent as other silent switches. Great vid tho!
Thanks a ton! Yeah I was confused by that too. I tried to replicate the same conditions, mic distance and everything between the two. The better comparison is at 5:50 that part shows how different they sound much better. Honest question: do you like the Gecko Grade idea? I have been using it to give a more defined way of showing how good a tech product is, but not sure how viewers like it. What do you think?
@@GekkoTechGaming I think its good if youre looking to buy a budget silent switch and dont want to lube it. There are still other silent switches that would destroy these, although I think it’s definitely worth a look if you’re not looking to lube switches and want a good sound out of the bag. I know silent switches are supposed to be silent. But I really like that dampened bottom out… just sound very satisfying.
those keys sound clean
Thanks!! I really like them. Took them out of the GMMK after the review, planning on putting them in my next keyboard
Hey there, I just stumbled on to your channel. I am new to the mechanical keyboard hobby and planning a silent linear build. I really liked your whole presentation with this video. I especially liked the background music too. Very cool sounding.
I saw you ask in another comment if people liked your “GECKO” scoring method. I personally think it was very creative and clever way to score. I was only slightly confused on the “K”. Is that your personal opinion? I forget if you mentioned your name maybe starts with “K”?
Also, I was curious because I heard these switches have a small open port on the bottom housing to create a deeper and quieter overall tone. I didn’t hear you mention this feature. Do they have small holes in the bottom housing?
Also, cool looking gecko! What’s his name?
Do you think it is possible for other people to know when i'm typing during an online call if i use these switches?
Depends on what kind of mic you have, how close it is to your keyboard, there are a lot of factors that will affect that. Probably can be heard but won’t be distracting like regular linears. There are silent switches with better sound dampening out there but these do a good job still.
Do they allow RGB to shine through? Asking because my q1 pro has RGB
Technically, yes. They do allow RGB to shine through, though dimmer than other clear housing switches. The big problem you'd run into is that the Q1 has south facing switches. Great feature for using cherry profile keycaps but that means you will have close to zero RGB to shine through the legends. There will still be a little bit of RGB underglow, but if the legends are shinethrough you're gonna have a hard time seeing them.
